En esa misma ocasión había allí algunos que le contaron acerca de los galileos cuya sangre Pilato^a había mezclado¹ con la de sus sacrificios. 2 Respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: ¿Pensáis que estos galileos eran más pecadores^a que todos los demás galileos, porque sufrieron esto? 3 Os digo que no; al contrario, si no os arrepentís, todos pereceréis igualmente. 4 ¿O pensáis que aquellos dieciocho, sobre los que cayó la torre en Siloé^a y los mató, eran más deudores^1b que todos los hombres que habitan en Jerusalén? 5 Os digo que no; al contrario, si no os arrepentís, todos pereceréis igualmente.

6 Y les dijo esta parábola: Cierto hombre tenía una higuera plantada en su viña; y fue a buscar fruto de ella, y no lo halló^a. 7 Y dijo al viñador: «Mira, hace tres años que vengo a buscar fruto en esta higuera, y no lo hallo. Córtala^a. ¿Por qué ha de cansar la tierra?». 8 El entonces, respondiendo, le dijo: «Señor, déjala por este año todavía, hasta que yo cave alrededor de ella, y le eche abono, 9 y si da fruto el año que viene, bien; y si no, córtala».

10 Jesús estaba enseñando en una de las sinagogas un día de reposo^a, 11 y¹ había allí una mujer que durante dieciocho años había tenido una enfermedad causada por un espíritu^a; estaba encorvada, y de ninguna manera se podía enderezar. 12 Cuando Jesús la vio, la llamó y le dijo: Mujer, has quedado libre de tu enfermedad. 13 Y puso las manos sobre ella^a, y al instante se enderezó y glorificaba a Dios^b. 14 Pero el oficial de la sinagoga^a, indignado porque Jesús había sanado en día de reposo^b, reaccionó diciendo¹ a la multitud: Hay seis días en los cuales se debe trabajar^c; venid, pues, en esos días y sed sanados, y no en día de reposo. 15 Entonces el Señor^a le respondió, y dijo: Hipócritas, ¿no desata cada uno de vosotros su buey o su asno del pesebre en día de reposo^b y lo lleva a beber? 16 Yesta, que es hija de Abraham^a, a la que Satanás ha tenido atada durante dieciocho largos años^b, ¿no debía ser libertada de esta ligadura en día de reposo? 17 Y al decir Él esto, todos sus adversarios se avergonzaban, pero toda la multitud se regocijaba^a por todas las cosas gloriosas hechas por Él.

18 Entonces ^adecía: ¿A qué es semejante el reino de Dios y con qué lo compararé^b? 19 Es semejante a un grano de mostaza que un hombre tomó y echó en su huerto; y creció y se hizo árbol, y LAS AVES DEL CIELO ANIDARON EN SUS RAMAS.

20 Y volvió a decir: ¿A qué compararé el reino de Dios^a? 21 ^aEs semejante a la levadura que una mujer tomó y escondió en tres medidas¹ de harina hasta que todo quedó fermentado.

22 Pasaba Jesús por ciudades y aldeas, enseñando, mientras proseguía camino a Jerusalén^a. 23 Y alguien le dijo: Señor, ¿son pocos los que se salvan? Y Él les dijo: 24 Esforzaos por entrar por la puerta estrecha^a, porque os digo que muchos tratarán de entrar y no podrán. 25 Después que el dueño de la casa se levante y cierre la puerta^a, y vosotros, estando fuera, comencéis a llamar a la puerta, diciendo: «Señor, ábrenos^b», Él¹ respondiendo, os dirá: «No sé de dónde sois^c». 26 Entonces comenzaréis a decir^a: «Comimos y bebimos en tu presencia, y enseñaste en nuestras calles»; 27 y Él dirá: «Os digo que no sé de dónde sois^a; APARTAOS DE MÍ, TODOS LOS QUE HACÉIS INIQUIDAD^b». 28 Allí será el llanto y el crujir de dientes^a cuando veáis a Abraham, a Isaac, a Jacob y a todos los profetas en el reino de Dios, pero vosotros echados fuera. 29 Y vendrán del oriente y del occidente, del norte y del sur, y se sentarán¹ a la mesa en el reino de Dios^a. 30 Y he aquí, hay últimos que serán primeros, y hay primeros que serán últimos^a.

31 En ese momento llegaron unos fariseos diciéndole: Sal y vete de aquí, porque Herodes^a te quiere matar. 32 Y Él les dijo: Id y decidle a ese zorro: «Yo¹ expulso demonios, y hago curaciones hoy y mañana, y al tercer día cumplo mi propósito^2a». 33 Sin embargo, debo seguir mi camino, hoy, mañana y pasado mañana^a; porque no puede ser que un profeta^b muera fuera de Jerusalén. 34 ^a¡Jerusalén, Jerusalén, la que mata a los profetas y apedrea a los que le son enviados! ¡Cuántas veces quise juntar a tus hijos, como la gallina a sus pollitos debajo de sus alas^b, y no quisiste! 35 He aquí, vuestra casa se os deja desierta¹; y os digo que no me veréis más, hasta que llegue el tiempo en que digáis: «BENDITO EL QUE VIENE EN NOMBRE DEL SEÑOR^a».

Now on that very occasion there were some present who reported to Him about the Galileans whose blood ^aPilate had ¹mixed with their sacrifices. 2 And Jesus responded and said to them, “^aDo you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans just because they have suffered this fate? 3 No, I tell you, but unless you ¹repent, you will all likewise perish. 4 Or do you think that those eighteen on whom the tower in ^aSiloam fell and killed them were worse ^1boffenders than all the other people who live in Jerusalem? 5 No, I tell you, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

6 And He began telling this parable: “A man had ^aa fig tree which had been planted in his vineyard; and he came looking for fruit on it and did not find any. 7 And he said to the vineyard-keeper, ‘Look! For three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree ¹without finding any. ^aCut it down! Why does it even use up the ground?’ 8 But he answered and said to him, ‘Sir, leave it alone for this year too, until I dig around it and put in fertilizer; 9 and if it bears fruit next year, fine; but if not, cut it down.’”

10 Now Jesus was ^ateaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. 11 And ¹there was a woman who for eighteen years had had ^aa ²sickness caused by a spirit; and she was bent over double, and could not straighten up at all. 12 When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your sickness.” 13 And He ^alaid His hands on her; and immediately she stood up straight again, and began ^bglorifying God. 14 But ^athe synagogue leader, indignant because Jesus ^bhad healed on the Sabbath, began saying to the crowd in response, “^cThere are six days during which work should be done; so come during them and get healed, and not on the Sabbath day.” 15 But ^athe Lord answered him and said, “You hypocrites, ^bdoes each of you on the Sabbath not untie his ox or donkey from the stall and lead it away to water it? 16 And this woman, ^aa daughter of Abraham as she is, whom ^bSatan has bound for ¹eighteen long years, should she not have been released from this restraint on the Sabbath day?” 17 And as He said this, all His opponents were being ¹humiliated; and ^athe entire crowd was rejoicing over all the glorious things being done by Him.

18 So ^aHe was saying, “^bWhat is the kingdom of God like, and to what shall I compare it? 19 It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and threw into his own garden; and it grew and became a tree, and ^athe birds of the sky nested in its branches.”

20 And again He said, “^aTo what shall I compare the kingdom of God? 21 ^aIt is like ¹leaven, which a woman took and hid in ^bthree ²sata of flour until it was all leavened.”

22 And He was passing through one city and village after another, teaching, and ^aproceeding on His way to Jerusalem. 23 And someone said to Him, “Lord, are there just a few who are being saved?” And He said to them, 24 “^aStrive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. 25 Once the head of the house gets up and ^ashuts the door, and you begin standing outside and knocking on the door, saying, ‘^bLord, open up to us!’ and He then will answer and say to you, ‘^cI do not know where you are from.’ 26 Then you will ^abegin saying, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets!’ 27 And yet He will ¹say, ‘^aI do not know where you are from; ^bLEAVE ME, ALL YOU ²EVILDOERS.’ 28 ^aIn that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrown out. 29 And they ^awill come from east and west, and from north and south, and will recline at the table in the kingdom of God. 30 And behold, ^asome are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last.”

31 At that very time some Pharisees approached, saying to Him, “Go away and leave this place, because ^aHerod wants to kill You.” 32 And He said to them, “Go and tell that ¹fox, ‘Behold, I am casting out demons and performing healings today and tomorrow, and on the third day I ^2areach My goal.’ 33 Nevertheless ^aI must go on My journey today and tomorrow and the next day; for it cannot be that a ^bprophet would perish outside Jerusalem. 34 ^aJerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who have been sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, ^bjust as a hen gathers her ¹young under her wings, and you were unwilling! 35 Behold, your house is left to you desolate; and I say to you, you will not see Me until you say, ‘^aBLESSED IS THE ONE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD!’”
