Intervención de Eliú

Entonces estos tres hombres dejaron de responder a Job porque él era justo a sus propios ojos^a. 2 Pero se encendió la ira de Eliú, hijo de Baraquel buzita^a, de la familia de Ram. Se encendió su ira^b contra Job porque se justificaba^c delante de¹ Dios. 3 Su ira se encendió también contra sus tres amigos porque no habían hallado respuesta, y sin embargo habían condenado a Job. 4 Eliú había esperado para hablar a Job¹ porque los otros eran de más edad que él. 5 Pero cuando vio Eliú que no había respuesta en la boca de los tres hombres, se encendió su ira. 6 Y respondió Eliú, hijo de Baraquel buzita, y dijo:Yo soy joven, y vosotros ancianos^a;por eso tenía timidez y me atemorizaba declararos lo que pienso¹.

7 Yo pensé¹ que los días hablarían^a,y los muchos años enseñarían sabiduría.8 Pero hay un espíritu en el hombre,y el soplo del Todopoderoso¹^a le² da entendimiento^b.9 Los de muchos años¹ quizá no sean sabios,ni los ancianos entiendan justicia^a.10 Por eso digo¹: «Escuchadme,también yo declararé lo que pienso²».

11 He aquí, esperé vuestras palabras,escuché vuestros argumentos,mientras buscabais qué decir¹;12 os presté además mucha atención.He aquí, no hubo ninguno que refutara a Job,ninguno de vosotros que respondiera a sus palabras.13 No¹ digáis:«Hemos hallado sabiduría^a;Dios lo derrotará², no el hombre».14 Pero él no ha dirigido¹ sus palabras contra mí,ni yo le responderé con vuestros argumentos².

15 Están desconcertados, ya no responden;les han faltado¹ las palabras.16 ¿Y he de esperar porque ellos no hablan,porque se detienen¹ y ya no responden?17 Yo también responderé mi parte,yo también declararé lo que pienso¹.18 Porque estoy lleno de palabras;dentro de mí el espíritu me constriñe.19 He aquí, mi vientre es como vino sin respiradero,está a punto de reventar como odres nuevos.20 Dejadme hablar para que encuentre alivio,dejadme abrir los labios y responder.21 Que no haga yo acepción de persona¹^a,ni use lisonja con nadie².22 Porque no sé lisonjear,de otra manera mi Hacedor me llevaría pronto.

Elihu Rebukes Job in Anger

Then these three men stopped answering Job, because he was ^arighteous in his own eyes. 2 But the anger of Elihu the son of Barachel the ^aBuzite, of the family of Ram, burned against Job; his anger burned ^bbecause he justified himself ¹^cbefore God. 3 And his anger burned against his three friends because they had found no answer, yet they had condemned Job. 4 Now Elihu had waited ¹to speak to Job because they were years older than he. 5 But when Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of the three men, his anger burned.

6 So Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite ¹spoke out and said,“I am young in years and you are ^aold;Therefore I was shy and afraid to tell you ²what I think.

7 “I ¹thought ²^aage should speak,And ³increased years should teach wisdom.8 “But it is a spirit that is in mankind,And the ^abreath of the Almighty gives them ^bunderstanding.9 “The ¹abundant in years may not be wise,Nor may ^aelders understand justice.10 “So I ¹say, ‘Listen to me,I too will tell ²what I think.’

11 “Behold, I waited for your words,I listened to your skillful speech,While you ¹pondered what to say.12 “I also paid close attention to you;But ¹indeed, there was no one who refuted Job,Not one of you who answered his words.13 “So do not say,‘^aWe have found wisdom:God will ¹defeat him, not man.’14 “But he has not presented his words against me,Nor will I reply to him with your ¹arguments.

15 “They are dismayed, they no longer answer;Words have ¹failed them.16 “Should I wait, because they are not speaking,Because they have ¹stopped and no longer answer?17 “I too will ¹give my share of answers;I also will tell my opinion.18 “For I am full of words;The spirit within me compels me.19 “Behold, my belly is like unvented wine;Like new wineskins, it is about to burst.20 “Let me speak so that I may get relief;Let me open my lips and answer.21 “Let me ^abe partial to no one,Nor flatter any man.22 “For I do not know how to flatter,Otherwise my Maker would quickly take me away.

Elihu in Anger Rebukes Job
