La idolatría de Israel condenada

El justo perece, y no hay quien se preocupe¹^a;los hombres piadosos son arrebatados, sin que nadie comprendaque ante el mal^b es arrebatado el justo,2 y entra en la paz.Descansan en sus lechos¹,los que andan² en su camino recto³^a.3 Mas vosotros venid acá, hijos de hechicera,descendientes¹ de adúltero^a y ramera²^b.4 ¿De quién os burláis?¿Contra quién abrís la bocay sacáis la lengua?¿No sois vosotros hijos de rebeldía^a,descendientes¹ de la mentira;5 que ardéis con pasión entre los robles¹^a,bajo todo árbol frondoso^b;que sacrificáis los hijos en las quebradas²^c,debajo de las hendiduras de las peñas?6 Entre las piedras lisas¹^a de la quebrada²está tu parte; ellas, ellas son tu suerte;también para ellas has derramado libación^b,has ofrecido ofrenda de cereal.¿He de aplacarme³ con estas cosas^c?7 Sobre un monte alto y encumbrado^ahas puesto tu cama^b;allí también subiste a ofrecer sacrificio.8 Y detrás de la puerta y del umbral¹has puesto tu señal.En verdad, bien lejos de mí te has descubierto^a,y has subido y ensanchado tu cama;de ellos has logrado pacto a tu favor,has amado su cama²,has contemplado su virilidad³.9 Has ido al¹ rey con ungüento,y has multiplicado tus perfumes;has enviado tus emisarios a gran distancia^a,y los has hecho descender al Seol².10 Te cansaste por lo largo de tu camino,pero no dijiste: «No hay esperanza^a».Hallaste nuevas fuerzas¹,por eso no desfalleciste².

11 ¿Y de quién te asustaste y tuviste miedo^a,cuando mentiste y no te acordaste de mí^b,ni pensaste en ello¹?¿No es acaso porque he guardado silencio por mucho tiempo^cque no me temes?12 Yo declararé tu justicia^a y tus hechos^b,pero de nada te aprovecharán.13 Cuando clames, que tus ídolos te libren¹^a;pero a todos se los llevará el viento,un soplo los arrebatará.Pero el que en mí se refugie^b, heredará la tierra^c,y poseerá mi santo monte.

14 Y se dirá:Construid, construid, preparad el camino,quitad los obstáculos del camino de mi pueblo^a.15 Porque así dice el Alto y Sublime^aque vive para siempre¹, cuyo nombre es Santo^b:Habito en lo alto y santo^c,y también con el contrito y humilde de espíritu^d,para vivificar el espíritu de los humildesy para vivificar el corazón de los contritos^e.16 Porque no contenderé para siempre,ni estaré siempre enojado^a,pues el espíritu desfallecería ante mí,y el aliento de los que yo he creado^b.17 A causa de la iniquidad de su codicia^a, me enojé y lo herí;escondí mi rostro y me indigné,y él siguió desviándose por el camino de su corazón^b.18 He visto sus caminos, pero lo sanaré^a;lo guiaré y le daré consuelo a él y a los que con él lloran^b,19 poniendo alabanza en¹ los labios^a.Paz, paz^b al que está lejos y al que está cerca^c—dice el SEÑOR—y yo lo sanaré.20 Pero los impíos son como el mar agitado^a,que no puede estar quieto,y sus aguas arrojan cieno y lodo.21 No hay paz—dice mi Dios—para los impíos^a.

Evil Leaders Rebuked

The righteous person perishes, and no one ^atakes it to heart;And devout people are taken away, while no one understands.For the righteous person is taken away from ^bevil,2 He enters into peace;They rest in their ¹beds,Each one who ^awalked in his upright way.3 “But come here, you sons of a ^asorceress,^bOffspring of an adulterer and ¹a ^cprostitute!4 “Of whom do you make fun?Against whom do you open wide your mouthAnd stick out your tongue?Are you not children of ^arebellion,Offspring of deceit,5 Who inflame yourselves among the ^aoaks,^bUnder every luxuriant tree,Who ^cslaughter the children in the ¹ravines,Under the clefts of the rocks?6 “Among the ¹^asmooth stones of the ²ravineIs your portion, ³they are your lot;Even to them you have ^bpoured out a drink offering,You have made a grain offering.Should I ⁴^crelent of these things?7 “On a ^ahigh and lofty mountainYou have ^bmade your bed.You also went up there to offer sacrifice.8 “Behind the door and the doorpostYou have set up your sign;Indeed, far removed from Me, you have ^auncovered yourself,And have gone up and made your bed wide.And you have made an agreement for yourself with them,You have loved their bed,You have looked at their ¹manhood.9 “You have journeyed to the king with oilAnd increased your perfumes;You have ^asent your messengers a great distanceAnd made them go down to ¹Sheol.10 “You were tired out by the length of your road,Yet you did not say, ‘^aIt is hopeless!’You found ¹renewed strength,Therefore you did not ²faint.

11 “Of ^awhom were you worried and fearfulWhen you lied, and did ^bnot remember Me¹Nor ^cgive Me a thought?Was I not silent, even for a long time,So you do not fear Me?12 “I will ^adeclare your righteousness and your ^bdeeds,And they will not benefit you.13 “When you cry out, ^alet your collection of idols save you.But the wind will carry them all up,And a breath will take them away.But the one who ^btakes refuge in Me will ^cinherit the landAnd ^dpossess My holy mountain.”

14 And it will be said,“^aBuild up, build up, prepare the way,Remove every obstacle from the way of My people.”15 For this is what the ^ahigh and exalted OneWho ¹^blives forever, whose name is Holy, says:“I ^cdwell in a high and holy place,And also with the ^dcontrite and lowly of spiritIn order to ^erevive the spirit of the lowlyAnd to revive the heart of the contrite.16 “For I will ^anot contend forever,^bNor will I always be angry;For the spirit would grow faint before Me,And the ^cbreath of those whom I have made.17 “Because of the wrongful act of his ^aunjust gain I was angry and struck him;I hid My face and was angry,And he went on ^bturning away, in the way of his heart.18 “I have seen his ways, but I will ^aheal him;I will ^blead him and ^crestore comfort to him and to his mourners,19 Creating the ¹^apraise of the lips.^bPeace, peace to him who is ^cfar away and to him who is near,”Says the LORD, “and I will heal him.”20 But the ^awicked are like the tossing sea,For it cannot be quiet,And its waters toss up refuse and mud.21 “^aThere is no peace,” says ^bmy God, “for the wicked.”
