Castigo de Judá por medio de los caldeos

Profecía¹^a que tuvo en visión el profeta Habacuc.

2 ¿Hasta cuándo, oh SEÑOR, pediré ayuda,y no escucharás^a,clamaré a ti: ¡Violencia!y no salvarás^b?3 ¿Por qué me haces ver la iniquidad^a,y me haces mirar la opresión?La destrucción y la violencia están delante de mí^b,hay rencilla y surge discordia^c.4 Por eso no se cumple¹ la ley^ay nunca prevalece² la justicia³.Pues el impío asedia al justo^b;por eso sale pervertida la justicia⁴^c.

5 Mirad entre las naciones, observad^a,asombraos, admiraos^b;porque haré¹ una obra en vuestros díasque no creeríais si se os contara^c.6 Porque he aquí, yo levanto a los caldeos¹,pueblo feroz² e impetuoso^a,que marcha por la anchura de la tierrapara apoderarse de moradas ajenas^b.7 Imponente y temible es^a;de él mismo proceden su justicia¹ y su grandeza^b.8 Sus caballos^a son más veloces que leopardosy más astutos¹ que lobos al anochecer^b.Al galope vienen sus jinetes²,sus jinetes vienen de lejos,vuelan como águila^c que se precipita a devorar.9 Vienen todos ellos para hacer violencia,su horda de rostros¹ avanza^a,recoge cautivos como arena.10 Se mofa de los reyes^a,y los gobernantes le son motivo de risa;se ríe de toda fortaleza^b,amontona escombros para tomarla^c.11 Entonces pasará como el viento^a y seguirá,y se le tendrá por culpable^b,porque hace de su poder^c su dios.

12 ¿No eres tú desde la eternidad,oh SEÑOR, Dios mío, Santo mío^a?No moriremos.Oh SEÑOR, para juicio lo has puesto^b;tú, oh Roca^c, lo has establecido para corrección.13 Muy limpios son tus ojos para mirar el mal^a,y no puedes contemplar la opresión.¿Por qué miras con agrado^ba los que proceden pérfidamente^c,y callas^d cuando el impío traga^eal que es más justo que él?14 ¿Por qué¹ has hecho a los hombres como peces del mar,como reptiles que no tienen jefe?15 A todos los saca con anzuelo^a el pueblo invasor,los arrastra con su redy los junta en su malla^b.Por eso se alegra y se regocija,16 por eso ofrece sacrificio a su redy quema incienso¹ a su malla,pues gracias a ellas su pesca² es abundante³^a,y suculenta⁴ su comida.17 ¿Vaciará, pues, su red^ay seguirá matando sin piedad a las naciones^b?

The ^apronouncement which Habakkuk the prophet saw:

2 ^aHow long, LORD, have I called for help,And You do not hear?I cry out to You, “Violence!”Yet You do ^bnot save.3 Why do You make me ^asee disaster,And make me look at destitution?Yes, ^bdevastation and violence are before me;^cStrife exists and contention arises.4 Therefore the ^aLaw ¹is ignored,And justice ²is never upheld.For the wicked ^bsurround the righteous;Therefore justice comes out ^cconfused.

5 “^aLook among the nations! Watch!Be horrified! ^bBe frightened speechless!For I am accomplishing ^ca work in your days—You would not believe it even if ¹you were told!6 “For behold, I am ^araising up the Chaldeans,That ¹grim and impetuous peopleWho march ²throughout the earth,To ^btake possession of dwelling places that are not theirs.7 “They are terrifying and ^afeared;Their ^bjustice and ¹authority ²originate with themselves.8 “Their ^ahorses are faster than leopards,And quicker than ^bwolves in the evening.Their ¹horsemen charge along,Their ²horsemen come from afar;They fly like an ^ceagle ³swooping down to devour.9 “All of them come for violence.¹Their horde of ^afaces moves forward.They gather captives like sand.10 “They ^amake fun of kings,And dignitaries are an object of laughter to them.They ^blaugh at every fortress,Then ^cheap up dirt and ¹capture it.11 “Then they fly along like the ^awind and pass on.But they will be held ^bguilty,They whose ^cstrength is their god.”

12 Are You not from ^atime everlasting,LORD, my God, my Holy One?We will not die.You, LORD, have ^bappointed them to deliver judgment;And You, O ^cRock, have destined them to punish.13 Your eyes are too ^apure to look at evil,And You cannot look at harm favorably.Why do You ^blook favorablyAt those who deal ^ctreacherously?Why are You ^dsilent when the wicked ^eswallow upThose more righteous than they?14 Why have You made people like the fish of the sea,Like crawling things that have no ruler over them?15 The Chaldeans ^abring all of them up with a hook,^bDrag them away with their net,And gather them together in their fishing net.Therefore they rejoice and are joyful.16 Therefore they offer a sacrifice to their netAnd ¹burn incense to their fishing net,Because through ^athese things their ²catch is ³large,And their food is ⁴plentiful.17 Will they therefore empty their ^anet,And continually ^bslay nations without sparing?

Observe!Be astonished! ^bWonder!Because I am doing ^csomething in your days—You would not believe if ¹you were told.6 “For behold, I am ^araising up the Chaldeans,That ¹fierce and impetuous peopleWho march ²throughout the earthTo ³^bseize dwelling places which are not theirs.7 “They are dreaded and ^afeared;Their ^bjustice and ¹authority ²originate with themselves.8 “Their ^ahorses are swifter than leopardsAnd ¹keener than ^bwolves in the evening.Their ²horsemen come galloping,Their horsemen come from afar;They fly like an ^ceagle swooping down to devour.9 “All of them come for violence.¹Their horde of ^afaces moves forward.They collect captives like sand.10 “They ^amock at kingsAnd rulers are a laughing matter to them.They ^blaugh at every fortressAnd ^cheap up rubble to capture it.11 “Then they will sweep through like the ^awind and pass on.But they will be held ^bguilty,They whose ^cstrength is their god.”
