El mensaje² era verdadero y acerca de un gran conflicto³; él comprendió el mensaje⁴ y tuvo entendimiento de la visión^c. 2 En aquellos días, yo, Daniel, había estado en duelo^a durante tres semanas completas. 3 No comí manjar delicado¹ ni entró en mi boca carne ni vino^a, ni usé ungüento alguno, hasta que se cumplieron las tres semanas. 4 Y el día veinticuatro del primer mes, estando yo junto a la orilla del gran río^a, es decir, el Tigris¹, 5 alcé los ojos y miré, y he aquí, había un hombre vestido de lino^a, cuya cintura estaba ceñida con un cinturón de oro^b puro de Ufaz^c. 6 Su cuerpo era como de berilo¹, su rostro tenía² la apariencia de un relámpago, sus ojos eran como antorchas de fuego, sus brazos y pies como el brillo del bronce bruñido^a, y el sonido de sus palabras como el estruendo de una multitud. 7 Ysolo yo, Daniel, vi la visión^a; los hombres que estaban conmigo no vieron la visión^b, pero un gran terror^c cayó sobre ellos y huyeron a esconderse. 8 Me quedé solo^a viendo esta gran visión; no me quedaron fuerzas, y mi rostro¹ se demudó, desfigurándose^b, sin retener yo fuerza alguna. 9 Pero oí el sonido de sus palabras, y al oír el sonido de sus palabras, caí en un sueño profundo sobre mi rostro, con mi rostro en tierra^a.

10 Entonces, he aquí, una mano me tocó^a, y me hizo temblar sobre mis rodillas y sobre las palmas de mis manos. 11 Y me dijo: Daniel, hombre muy estimado^1a, entiende^b las palabras que te voy a decir y ponte en pie^2c, porque ahora he sido enviado a ti. Cuando él me dijo estas palabras, me puse en pie temblando^d. 12 Entonces me dijo: No temas^a, Daniel, porque desde el primer día en que te propusiste en tu corazón entender y humillarte delante de tu Dios, fueron oídas tus palabras, y a causa de tus palabras he venido^b. 13 Mas el príncipe del reino de Persia se me opuso¹ por veintiún días, pero he aquí, Miguel, uno de los primeros príncipes^a, vino en mi ayuda, ya que yo había sido dejado allí con los reyes de Persia. 14 Y he venido para darte a conocer^a lo que sucederá a tu pueblo al final de los días^b, porque la visión es para días aún lejanos^c. 15 Cuando habló conmigo estas palabras, volví¹ mi rostro a tierra y enmudecí^a. 16 Y he aquí, uno semejante a un hombre^1a tocó mis labios; entonces abrí mi boca y hablé^b, y dije al que estaba delante de mí: Señor mío, a causa de la visión me ha invadido la angustia² y me he quedado sin fuerzas^c. 17 ¿Cómo podrá, pues, este siervo de mi señor hablar con uno como mi señor^a? Porque a mí en este momento no me queda fuerza alguna, ni tampoco me queda aliento^b.

18 Entonces el que tenía semejanza de hombre me tocó otra vez y me fortaleció^a, 19 y me dijo: No temas, hombre muy estimado¹. La paz sea contigo^2a; sé fuerte y esfuérzate^b. Cuando habló conmigo, recobré las fuerzas, y dije: Hable mi señor, porque me has fortalecido^c. 20 Entonces él dijo: ¿Sabes por qué he venido a ti? Ahora vuelvo para luchar contra el príncipe¹ de Persia, y cuando yo termine², he aquí, el príncipe³ de Grecia^4a vendrá. 21 Sin embargo, te declararé lo que está inscrito en el libro de la verdad, pero no hay nadie que se mantenga firme a mi lado^1a contra estas fuerzas, sino Miguel, vuestro príncipe^b.

In the third year of ^aCyrus king of Persia, a ¹message was revealed to ^bDaniel, who was named Belteshazzar; and the ^2cmessage was true and it concerned great ³conflict, but he understood the ⁴message and had an ^dunderstanding of the vision.

2 In those days, I, Daniel, had been ^amourning for three ¹entire weeks. 3 I ^adid not eat any ¹tasty food, nor did meat or wine enter my mouth, nor did I use any ointment at all until the entire three weeks were completed. 4 On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, while I was by the bank of the great ^ariver, that is, the ¹Tigris, 5 I raised my eyes and looked, and behold, there was a man ^adressed in linen, whose waist ^bhad a belt of pure ^cgold of Uphaz. 6 His body also was like topaz, his face ¹had the appearance of lightning, ^ahis eyes were like flaming torches, his arms and feet like the gleam of polished bronze, and the sound of his words like the sound of a multitude. 7 Now I, Daniel, ^aalone saw the vision, while the ^bmen who were with me did not see the vision; nevertheless, a great ^cfear fell on them, and they ran away to hide themselves. 8 So I was ^aleft alone and saw this great vision; yet ^bno strength was left in me, for my complexion turned to ¹a deathly pallor, and I retained no strength. 9 But I heard the sound of his words; and as soon as I heard the sound of his words, I ^afell into a deep sleep on my face, with my face to the ground.

10 Then behold, a hand ^atouched me and shook me on my ¹hands and knees. 11 And he said to me, “^aDaniel, ¹you who are treasured, ^bunderstand the words that I am about to tell you and ^cstand at your place, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up ^dtrembling. 12 Then he said to me, “^aDo not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on ^bhumbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come ^cin response to your words. 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was standing ¹in my way for twenty-one days; then behold, ^aMichael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia. 14 Now I have come to ^aexplain to you what will happen to your people in the ^1blatter days, because the vision pertains to ^cthe days still future.”

15 When he had spoken to me according to these words, I ¹turned my face toward the ground and became ^aspeechless. 16 And behold, ^1aone who resembled a human was ^btouching my lips. Then I opened my mouth and spoke and said to him who was standing before me, “My lord, due to the vision ^2canguish has come upon me, and I have retained no strength. 17 For ^ahow can such a servant of my lord talk with such as my lord? As for me, there remains just now ^bno strength in me, nor has any breath been left in me.”

18 Then this one with human appearance touched me again and ^astrengthened me. 19 And he said, “¹You who are treasured, ^ado not be afraid. Peace be to you; take ^bcourage and be courageous!” Now as soon as he spoke to me, I felt strengthened and said, “May my lord speak, for you have ^cstrengthened me.” 20 Then he said, “Do you ¹understand why I came to you? But I shall now return to fight against the prince of Persia; so I am leaving, and behold, the ^aprince of ²Greece is about to come. 21 However, I will tell you what is recorded in the writing of ^atruth. Yet there is no one who ¹stands firmly with me against these forces except ^bMichael your prince.

10 Then behold, a hand ^atouched me and set me trembling on my ¹hands and knees. 11 He said to me, “O ^aDaniel, man of ¹high esteem, ^bunderstand the words that I am about to tell you and ^cstand ²upright, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up ^dtrembling. 12 Then he said to me, “^aDo not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on ^bhumbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response ^cto your words. 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was ¹withstanding me for twenty-one days; then behold, ^aMichael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia. 14 Now I have come to ^agive you an understanding of what will happen to your people in the ^1blatter days, for the vision pertains to ^cthe days yet future.”

15 When he had spoken to me according to these words, I ¹turned my face toward the ground and became ^aspeechless. 16 And behold, ^1aone who resembled a human being was ^btouching my lips; then I opened my mouth and spoke and said to him who was standing before me, “O my lord, as a result of the vision ^2canguish has come upon me, and I have retained no strength. 17 For ^ahow can such a servant of my lord talk with such as my lord? As for me, there remains just now ^bno strength in me, nor has any breath been left in me.”

18 Then this one with human appearance touched me again and ^astrengthened me. 19 He said, “O man of ¹high esteem, ^ado not be afraid. But I shall now return to fight against the ²prince of Persia; so I am going forth, and behold, the ^3aprince of ⁴Greece is about to come. 21 However, I will tell you what is inscribed in the writing of ^atruth. Yet there is no one who ¹stands firmly with me against these forces except ^bMichael your prince.
