A la iglesia de Dios^d que está en Corinto^e, con todos los santos que están en toda Acaya^f: 2 Gracia y paz a vosotros de parte de Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesucristo^a.

3 Bendito sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo^a, Padre de misericordias y Dios de toda consolación^b, 4 el cual nos consuela en toda tribulación^a nuestra, para que nosotros podamos consolar a los que están en cualquier aflicción con el consuelo con que nosotros mismos somos consolados por Dios. 5 Porque así como los sufrimientos de Cristo son nuestros en abundancia¹, así también abunda nuestro consuelo por medio de Cristo^a. 6 Pero si somos atribulados, es para vuestro consuelo y salvación^a; o si somos consolados, es para vuestro consuelo, que obra al soportar las mismas aflicciones que nosotros también sufrimos. 7 Y nuestra esperanza respecto de vosotros está firmemente establecida, sabiendo que como sois copartícipes de los sufrimientos, así también lo sois de la consolación^a. 8 Porque no queremos que ignoréis, hermanos^a, acerca de nuestra aflicción sufrida¹ en Asia^2b, porque fuimos abrumados sobremanera, más allá de nuestras fuerzas, de modo que hasta perdimos la esperanza de salir con vida^c. 9 De hecho¹, dentro de nosotros mismos ya teníamos la sentencia de muerte, a fin de que no confiáramos en nosotros mismos, sino en Dios que resucita a los muertos, 10 el cual nos libró^a de tan gran peligro de muerte y nos librará, y en quien hemos puesto nuestra esperanza^b de que Él aún nos ha de librar, 11 cooperando también vosotros con nosotros con la oración^a, para que por muchas personas sean dadas gracias a favor nuestro por el don que nos ha sido impartido por medio de las oraciones de muchos^b.

12 Porque nuestra satisfacción¹ esesta: el testimonio de nuestra conciencia^a que en la santidad² y en la sinceridad que viene de Dios^b, no en sabiduría carnal^c sino en la gracia de Dios, nos hemos conducido en el mundo y especialmente hacia vosotros. 13 Porque ninguna otra cosa os escribimos sino lo que leéis y entendéis, y espero que entenderéis hasta el fin^a, 14 así como también nos habéis entendido en parte, que nosotros somos el motivo de vuestra gloria, así como también vosotros la nuestra en el día de nuestro Señor Jesús^a.

15 Y con esta confianza me propuse ir primero a vosotros^a para que dos veces recibierais bendición^1b, 16 es decir¹, quería visitaros de paso² a Macedonia^a, y de Macedonia ir de nuevo a vosotros^b y ser encaminado por vosotros en mi viaje^c a Judea. 17 Por tanto, cuando me propuse esto, ¿acaso obré precipitadamente? O lo que me propongo, ¿me lo propongo conforme a la carne^a, para que en mí haya al mismo tiempo el sí, sí, y el no, no? 18 Pero como Dios es fiel^a, nuestra palabra a vosotros no es sí y no^b. 19 Porque el Hijo de Dios, Cristo Jesús^a, que fue predicado entre vosotros por nosotros (por mí y Silvano^b y Timoteo^c) no fue sí y no, sino que ha sido sí en Él^d. 20 Pues tantas como sean las promesas de Dios^a, en Él todas son sí^b; por eso también por medio de Él, Amén^c, para la gloria de Dios por medio de nosotros. 21 Ahora bien, el que nos confirma^a con vosotros en Cristo y el que nos ungió^b, es Dios, 22 quien también nos selló^a y nos dio el Espíritu en nuestro corazón^b como garantía¹.

23 Mas yo invoco a Dios como testigo^a sobre mi alma, que por consideración a vosotros no he vuelto a Corinto^b. 24 No es que queramos tener control de vuestra fe^a, sino que somos colaboradores con vosotros para vuestro gozo; porque en la fe permanecéis firmes^b.

2 ^aGrace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 ^aBlessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and ^bGod of all comfort, 4 who ^acomforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in ¹any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For just ^aas the sufferings of Christ are ¹ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ. 6 But if we are afflicted, it is ^afor your comfort and salvation; or if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is effective in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer; 7 and our hope for you is firmly grounded, knowing that ^aas you are partners in our sufferings, so also you are in our comfort.

8 For ^awe do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, of our ^baffliction which occurred in ^1cAsia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life. 9 ¹Indeed, we had the sentence of death within ourselves so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead, 10 who ^arescued us from so great a danger of death, and will rescue us, He ^1bon whom we have set our hope. And He will yet deliver us, 11 if you also join in ^ahelping us through your prayers, so that thanks may be given by ^bmany persons in our behalf for the favor granted to us through the prayers of many.

12 For our ¹proud confidence is this: the testimony of ^aour conscience, that in holiness and ^bgodly sincerity, ^cnot in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you. 13 For we write nothing else to you than what you read and understand, and I hope you will understand ^auntil the end; 14 just as you also partially did understand us, that we are your reason to be proud as you also are ours, on ^athe day of our Lord Jesus.

15 In this confidence I intended at first to ^acome to you, so that you might ¹twice receive a ^2bblessing; 16 ¹that is, to ^apass ²your way into ^bMacedonia, and again from Macedonia to come to you, and by you to be ^chelped on my journey to Judea. 17 Therefore, I was not vacillating when I intended to do this, was I? Or what I decide, do I decide ^aaccording to the flesh, so that with me there will be ¹yes, yes and no, no at the same time? 18 But as ^aGod is faithful, ^bour word to you is not yes and no. 19 For ^athe Son of God, Christ Jesus, who was preached among you by us—by me and ^bSilvanus and ^cTimothy—was not yes and no, but has been yes ^din Him. 20 For ^aas many as the promises of God are, ^bin Him they are yes; therefore through Him also is ^cour Amen to the glory of God through us. 21 Now He who ^aestablishes us with you in Christ and ^banointed us is God, 22 who also ^asealed us and ^bgave us the Spirit in our hearts as a ¹pledge.

23 But ^aI call God as witness to my soul, that it was ^bto spare you that I did not come again to ^cCorinth. 24 Not that we ^adomineer over your faith, but we are workers with you for your joy; for in your faith you are ^bstanding firm.
