¹El destructor² ha subido contra ti³^a.Monta guardia en la fortaleza,vigila el camino;fortalece tus lomos,refuerza más tu poder.2 Porque el SEÑOR restaurará la gloria¹^a de Jacobcomo la gloria² de Israel^b,aunque devastadores los han devastadoy destruido sus sarmientos^c.

3 El escudo de los valientes¹ es rojo,los guerreros están vestidos de escarlata^a,y de acero centelleante² los carroscuando están en formación³,y se blanden las lanzas^b de ciprés.4 Por las calles corren furiosos¹ los carros,se precipitan por las plazas²^a,su aspecto es semejante a antorchas,como relámpagos se lanzan.5 Se acuerda él de sus nobles^aque tropiezan en su marcha^b,se apresuran a su muralla,y es preparada la defensa¹.6 Las compuertas de los ríos se abren,y el palacio se llena de terror¹.7 Está decretado:la reina es despojada y deportada,y sus sirvientas gimen como palomas^a,golpeándose el pecho¹^b.

8 Aunque Nínive era como estanque de aguas desde la antigüedad¹;ahora ellos huyen.¡Deteneos! ¡Deteneos!Pero nadie se vuelve^a.9 ¡Saquead la plata!¡Saquead el oro^a!No hay límite a los tesoros,a las riquezas de toda clase de objetos codiciables.10 ¡Vacía está! Sí, desolada y desierta¹^a.Los corazones se derriten y las rodillas tiemblan^b;hay también angustia en todo el cuerpo²,y los rostros de todos han palidecido^c.11 ¿Dónde está la guarida de los leonesy el lugar¹ donde comen los leoncillos^a,donde andaban el león, la leona y su cachorro,sin que nada los asustara?12 El león desgarraba lo suficiente para sus cachorros,mataba¹ para sus leonas,llenaba de presa sus guaridasy de carne desgarrada sus cubiles.

13 Heme aquí contra ti^a—declara el SEÑOR de los ejércitos. Quemaré y reduciré a humo tus¹ carros^b, la espada devorará tus leoncillos, arrancaré de la tierra tu presa^c, y no se oirá más la voz de tus mensajeros.

¹The one who ^ascatters has come up against ²you.Keep watch over the fortress, watch the road;³Bind up your waist, ⁴summon all your strength.2 For the LORD will restore the ^asplendor of Jacob^bLike the splendor of Israel,Even though destroyers have laid waste to themAnd ^cruined their vines.

3 The shields of ¹his warriors are dyed red,The warriors are dressed in ^ascarlet,The chariots are fitted with ²flashing steel³When he is prepared to march,And the juniper ^bspears are brandished.4 The ^achariots drive wildly in the streets,They rush around in the ¹public squares;Their appearance is like torches,They drive back and forth like lightning flashes.5 He remembers his ^aofficers;They ^bstumble in their advance,They hurry to her wall,And the ¹mantelet is set up.6 The gates of the rivers are openedAnd the palace sways back and forth.7 It is set:She is stripped, she is led away,And her slave women are ^asobbing like the sound of doves,^bBeating their ¹breasts.

8 Though Nineveh was like a pool of water throughout her days,Yet they are fleeing;“Stop, stop,”But ^ano one turns back.9 Plunder the silver,Plunder the ^agold!For there is no end to the treasure—Wealth from every kind of desirable object.10 She is ^aemptied! Yes, she is desolate and waste!^bHearts are melting and knees wobbling!Also trembling is in ¹the entire body,And all their ^cfaces have become pale!11 Where is the den of the lionsAnd the feeding place of the ^ayoung lions,Where the lion, lioness, and lion’s cub wentWith nothing to disturb them?12 The lion tore enough for his cubs,¹Killed enough prey for his lionesses,And filled his lairs with preyAnd his dens with torn flesh.

13 “Behold, ^aI am against you,” declares the LORD of armies. “I will ^bburn up her chariots in smoke, and a sword will devour your young lions; I will ^celiminate your prey from the land, and no longer will the voice of your messengers be heard.”

8 Though Nineveh was like a pool of water throughout her days,Now her inhabitants are fleeing;“Stop! Stop!” a few cry,But ^ano one turns back.9 Plunder the silver!Plunder the ^agold!For there is no end to the treasure—Wealth from every precious object.10 ^aShe is emptied! She is desolate and waste!^bHearts melting in fear and knees knocking!Anguish is in the whole body,And the ^cfaces of all grow pale! Is 13:7, 811 Where is the den of the lions (Assyria)And the feeding place of the ^ayoung lions,Where the lion, lioness, and lion’s cub prowledWith nothing to fear?12 The lion of Assyria tore enough for his cubs (Assyrian citizens) ,Killed enough prey for his lionesses,And filled his lairs with preyAnd his dens with torn flesh.

13 “Behold, ^aI am against you Nineveh,” declares the LORD of hosts, “and I will ^bburn your chariots in the smoke, and the sword will devour your young lions. I will ^ccut off your prey from the land, and the voice of your messengers will no longer be heard.”
