Y ahora, para vosotros, sacerdotes, es este mandamiento. 2 Si no escucháis, y si no decidís de corazón dar honor a mi nombre—dice el SEÑOR^a de los ejércitos—enviaré sobre vosotros maldición^b, y maldeciré vuestras bendiciones; y en verdad, ya las he maldecido^c, porque no lo habéis decidido de corazón. 3 He aquí, yo reprenderé a vuestra descendencia¹, y os echaré estiércol^2a a la cara, el estiércol^3b de vuestras fiestas, y seréis llevados con⁴ él^c. 4 Entonces sabréis que os he enviado este mandamiento para que mi pacto siga¹ con Leví²—dice el SEÑOR de los ejércitos^a. 5 Mi pacto con él era de vida y paz^a, las cuales le di para que me reverenciara^1b; y él me reverenció², y estaba lleno de temor ante mi nombre. 6 La verdadera instrucción¹ estaba en su boca, y no se hallaba iniquidad en sus labios^a; en paz y rectitud caminaba conmigo^b, y apartaba a muchos de la iniquidad^c. 7 Pues los labios del sacerdote deben guardar la sabiduría, y los hombres deben buscar la instrucción¹ de su boca^a, porque él es el mensajero^b del SEÑOR^c de los ejércitos. 8 Pero vosotros os habéis desviado del camino, habéis hecho tropezar a muchos en la ley^1a, habéis corrompido² el pacto de Leví^b—dice el SEÑOR de los ejércitos. 9 Por eso yo también os he hecho despreciables y viles^a ante¹ todo el pueblo, así como vosotros no habéis guardado mis caminos^b y hacéis acepción de personas en la ley^2c.

10 ¿No tenemos todos un mismo padre? ¿No nos ha creado un mismo Dios^a? ¿Por qué nos portamos deslealmente^b unos contra otros^c, profanando el pacto de nuestros padres^d? 11 Deslealmente ha obrado Judá, y una abominación se ha cometido en Israel y en Jerusalén; pues Judá ha profanado el santuario del SEÑOR^a, que Él ama¹, y se ha casado con la hija de un dios extraño^b. 12 Que el SEÑOR extermine de las tiendas de Jacob al hombre que hace esto^a (sea testigo o defensor¹) aunque presente una ofrenda² al SEÑOR de los ejércitos^b. 13 Y esta otra¹ cosa hacéis: cubrís el altar del SEÑOR de lágrimas, llantos y gemidos, porque Él ya no mira la ofrenda² ni la acepta con agrado^a de vuestra mano. 14 Y vosotros decís: «¿Por qué?». Porque el SEÑOR ha sido testigo entre tú y la mujer de tu juventud^a, contra la cual has obrado deslealmente^b, aunque ella es tu compañera y la mujer de tu pacto. 15 Pero ninguno que tenga un remanente del Espíritu lo ha hecho así^1a. ¿Y qué hizoeste mientras buscaba una descendencia² de parte de Dios^b? Prestad atención, pues, a vuestro espíritu; no seas³ desleal con la mujer de tu juventud^c. 16 Porque yo detesto el divorcio^1a—dice el SEÑOR, Dios de Israel—y al que cubre de iniquidad² su vestidura^b—dice el SEÑOR de los ejércitos—. Prestad atención, pues, a vuestro espíritu y no seáis desleales.

17 Habéis cansado al SEÑOR con vuestras palabras^a. Y decís: ¿En qué le hemos cansado? Cuando decís^b: Todo el que hace mal es bueno a los ojos del SEÑOR, y en ellos Él se complace; o: ¿Dónde está^c el Dios de la justicia^1d?

“And now, this commandment is for you, the priests. 2 If you do ^anot listen, and if you do not take it to heart to give honor to My name,” says the LORD of armies, “then I will send the ^bcurse upon you and I will curse your blessings; and indeed, I have ^ccursed them already, because you are not taking it to heart. 3 Behold, I am going to ^arebuke your ¹descendants, and I will ^bspread ²dung on your faces, the ³dung of your ^cfeasts; and you will be taken away ⁴with it. 4 Then you will know that I have sent this commandment to you, ¹so that My ^acovenant may ²continue with Levi,” says the LORD of armies. 5 “My covenant with him was one of life and ^apeace, and I gave them to him as an object of ¹reverence; so he ^2brevered Me and was in awe of My name. 6 ^1aTrue instruction was in his mouth and injustice was not found on his lips; he walked ^bwith Me in peace and justice, and he ^cturned many back from wrongdoing. 7 For the lips of a priest should maintain ^aknowledge, and people should ^bseek ¹instruction from his mouth; for he is the ^cmessenger of the LORD of armies. 8 But as for you, you have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to ^astumble ¹by the instruction; you have ^bruined the covenant of Levi,” says the LORD of armies. 9 “So ^aI also have made you despised and of ^blow reputation ¹in the view of all the people, since you are not keeping My ways but are showing ^cpartiality in the ²instruction.”

10 Do we not all have ^aone Father? ^bIs it not one God who has created us? Why do we deal ^ctreacherously, each against his brother so as to profane the ^dcovenant of our fathers? 11 Judah has dealt ^atreacherously, and an abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has ^bprofaned the sanctuary of the LORD ¹which He loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god. 12 As for the man who does this, may the ^aLORD eliminate from the tents of Jacob everyone who is awake and answers, or who ^bpresents ¹an offering to the LORD of armies.

13 And this is ¹another thing you do: you cover the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping and sighing, because He ^ano longer gives attention to the ²offering or accepts it with favor from your hand. 14 Yet you say, “For what reason?” Because the LORD has been a witness between you and the ^awife of your youth, against whom you have dealt ^btreacherously, though she is your marriage companion and your wife by covenant. 15 ¹But not one has ^adone so who has a remnant of the Spirit. And ²why the one? He was seeking a ^bgodly offspring. Be careful then about your spirit, and see that none of you deals ^ctreacherously against the wife of your youth. 16 “For ¹I hate ^2adivorce,” says the LORD, the God of Israel, “and ³him who covers his garment with ^bviolence,” says the LORD of armies. “So be careful about your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously.”

17 You have ^awearied the LORD with your words. Yet you say, “How have we wearied Him?” In that you say, “^bEveryone who does evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and He ^cdelights in them,” or, “^dWhere is the God of ^ejustice?”

And ²what did that one do while he was seeking a ^bgodly ³offspring? Take heed then to your spirit, and let no one deal ^ctreacherously against the wife of your youth. 16 For ¹I hate ^2adivorce,” says the LORD, the God of Israel, “and ³him who covers his garment with ^4bwrong,” says the LORD of hosts. “So take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously.”

He walked ^bwith Me in peace and uprightness, and he ^cturned many from wickedness. 7 For the lips of the priest should guard and preserve ^aknowledge of My law, and the people should ^bseek instruction from his mouth; for he is the ^cmessenger of the LORD of hosts. 8 But as for you priests, you have turned from the way and you have caused many to ^astumble by your instruction in the law. You have ^bviolated the covenant of Levi,” says the LORD of hosts. 9 “So ^aI have ^balso made you despised and ^cabased before all the people, just as you are not keeping My ways but are showing ^dpartiality to people in your administration of the law.”

Why do we deal ^ctreacherously with one another, profaning the ^dcovenant of our fathers with God? 11 Judah has been ^atreacherous (disloyal) , and a repulsive act has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has ^bprofaned the sanctuary of the LORD which He loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god. Ezra 9:2; Jer 2:3 12 As for the man who does this, may the ^aLORD cut off from the tents of Jacob to the last man those who do this evil thing, awake and aware, even the one who ^bbrings an offering to the LORD of hosts.

13 This is another thing you do: you cover the altar of the LORD with tears, with your own weeping and sighing, because the LORD ^ano longer regards your offering or accepts it with favor from your hand. 14 But you say, “Why does He reject it?” Because the LORD has been a witness between you and the ^awife of your youth, against whom you have dealt ^btreacherously. Yet she is your marriage companion and the wife of your covenant made by your vows. 15 But not one has ^adone so who has a remnant of the Spirit. And what did that one do while seeking a ^bgodly offspring? Take heed then to your spirit, and let no one deal ^ctreacherously against the wife of your youth. 16 “For I hate ^1adivorce,” says the LORD, the God of Israel, “and him who covers his garment with ^bwrong and violence,” says the LORD of hosts. “Therefore keep watch on your spirit, so that you do not deal treacherously with your wife.”

17 You have ^awearied the LORD with your words. But you say, “In what way have we wearied Him?” In that you say, “^bEveryone who does evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and He ^cdelights in them,” or by asking, “^dWhere is the God of ^ejustice?”
