Y aconteció que cuando todos los reyes de los amorreos que estaban al otro lado del Jordán hacia el occidente, y todos los reyes de los cananeos que estaban junto al mar^a, oyeron cómo el SEÑOR había secado las aguas del Jordán delante de los hijos de Israel hasta que ellos habían¹ pasado, sus corazones se acobardaron, y ya no había aliento en ellos a causa de los hijos de Israel^b.

2 En aquel tiempo el SEÑOR dijo a Josué: Hazte cuchillos de pedernal^a y vuelve a circuncidar, por segunda vez, a los hijos de Israel. 3 Y Josué se hizo cuchillos de pedernal y circuncidó a los hijos de Israel en el collado de Aralot¹. 4 Esta es la razón por la cual Josué los circuncidó: todos los del pueblo que salieron de Egipto que eran varones, todos los hombres de guerra, murieron en el desierto, por el camino^a, después que salieron de Egipto. 5 Porque todos los del pueblo que salieron fueron circuncidados, pero todos los del pueblo que nacieron en el desierto, por el camino, después de salir de Egipto, no habían sido circuncidados. 6 Pues los hijos de Israel anduvieron por el desierto cuarenta años, hasta que pereció¹ toda la nación, es decir, los hombres de guerra que salieron de Egipto^a, porque no escucharon la voz del SEÑOR; a ellos el SEÑOR les juró que no les permitiría ver la tierra que el SEÑOR había jurado a sus padres que nos daría^b, una tierra que mana leche y miel. 7 Y a los hijos de ellos, que Él levantó en su lugar, Josué los circuncidó; pues eran incircuncisos, porque no los habían circuncidado en el camino. 8 Y sucedió que cuando terminaron de circuncidar a toda la nación, permanecieron en sus lugares en el campamento hasta que sanaron¹. 9 Entonces el SEÑOR dijo a Josué: Hoy he quitado¹ de vosotros el oprobio^a de Egipto. Por eso aquel lugar se ha llamado Gilgal² hasta hoy. 10 Estando los hijos de Israel acampados en Gilgal, celebraron la Pascua en la noche del día catorce del mes^a en los llanos de Jericó^b. 11 Y el día¹ después de la Pascua, ese² mismo día, comieron del producto de la tierra, panes sin levadura y cereal tostado. 12 Y el maná cesó el día¹ después que habían comido del producto de la tierra, y los hijos de Israel no tuvieron más maná, sino que comieron del producto de la tierra de Canaán^a durante aquel año.

13 Y sucedió que cuando Josué estaba cerca de Jericó, levantó los ojos y miró, y he aquí, un hombre estaba frente a él con una espada desenvainada en la mano^a, y Josué fue hacia él y le dijo: ¿Eres de los nuestros o de nuestros enemigos? 14 Y él respondió: No; más bien yo vengo ahora como capitán del ejército del SEÑOR. Y Josué se postró en tierra, le hizo reverencia^1a, y dijo: ¿Qué dice mi señor a su siervo? 15 Entonces el capitán del ejército del SEÑOR dijo a Josué: Quítate las sandalias de tus pies, porque el lugar donde estás es santo^a. Y así lo hizo Josué.

Now it came about when all the kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan to the west, and all the kings of the ^aCanaanites who were by the sea, ^bheard how the LORD had dried up the waters of the Jordan before the sons of Israel until ¹they had crossed, that their hearts melted, and there was no spirit in them any longer because of the sons of Israel.

2 At that time the LORD said to Joshua, “Make for yourself ^aflint knives and circumcise again the sons of Israel the second time.” 3 So Joshua made himself flint knives and circumcised the sons of Israel at ¹Gibeath-haaraloth. 4 This is the reason why Joshua circumcised them: ^aall the people who came out of Egypt who were males, all the men of war, died in the wilderness along the way after they came out of Egypt. 5 For all the people who came out were circumcised, but all the people who were born in the wilderness along the way as they came out of Egypt had not been circumcised. 6 For the sons of Israel walked ^aforty years in the wilderness, until all the nation, that is, the men of war who came out of Egypt, ¹perished because they did not listen to the voice of the LORD, ^bto whom the LORD had sworn that He would not let them see the land which the LORD had sworn to their fathers to give us, a land flowing with milk and honey. 7 So their children whom He raised up in their place, Joshua ¹circumcised; for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them along the way.

8 Now when they had finished circumcising all the nation, they remained in their places in the camp until they recovered. 9 Then the LORD said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away ^athe shame of Egypt from you.” So the name of that place is called ¹Gilgal to this day.

10 While the sons of Israel camped at Gilgal ^athey celebrated the Passover on the evening of the ^bfourteenth day of the month on the desert plains of Jericho. 11 Then on the day after the Passover, on ¹that very day, they ate some of the produce of the land, unleavened cakes and roasted grain. 12 And ^athe manna ceased on the day after they had eaten some of the produce of the land, so that the sons of Israel no longer had manna, but they ate some of the yield of the land of Canaan during that year.

13 Now it came about when Joshua was by Jericho, he raised his eyes and looked, and behold, ^aa man was standing opposite him with his sword drawn in his hand, and Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us or for our enemies?” 14 He said, “No; rather I have come now as captain of the army of the LORD.” And Joshua ^afell on his face to the ground, and bowed down, and said to him, “What has my lord to say to his servant?” 15 And the captain of the LORD’S army said to Joshua, “^aRemove your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so.

13 Now it came about when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, ^aa man was standing opposite him with his sword drawn in his hand, and Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us or for our adversaries?” 14 He said, “No; rather I indeed come now as captain of the host of the LORD.” And Joshua ^afell on his face to the earth, and bowed down, and said to him, “What has my lord to say to his servant?” 15 The captain of the LORD’S host said to Joshua, “^aRemove your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so.

Now it happened when all the kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan to the west, and all the kings of the ^aCanaanites who were by the sea, ^bheard that the LORD had dried up the waters of the Jordan before the Israelites until they had crossed over, their hearts melted in despair, and there was no fighting spirit in them any longer because of the Israelites and what God had done for them.

2 At that time the LORD said to Joshua, “Make for yourself ^aflint knives and circumcise the new generation of the sons of Israel as was done before.” 3 So Joshua made flint knives and circumcised the sons of Israel at ¹Gibeath-haaraloth. 4 This is the reason why Joshua circumcised them: ^aall the people who came out of Egypt who were males, all the men of war, had died in the wilderness along the way after they left Egypt. 5 All the males who came out were circumcised, but all the males who were born in the wilderness on the way as they left Egypt had not been circumcised. 6 For the Israelites walked ^aforty years in the wilderness, until all the nation, that is, the men of war who came out of Egypt, died because they did not listen to the voice of the LORD; ^bto them the LORD had sworn an oath that He would not let them see the land which He had promised to their fathers to give us, a land of abundance ¹flowing with milk and honey. 7 So it was their uncircumcised sons whom He raised up in their place, whom Joshua circumcised, because circumcision had not been performed on the way.

8 Then, when they had finished circumcising all the males of the nation, they stayed in their places in the camp until they were healed. 9 Then the LORD said to Joshua, “This day I have rolled away ^athe reproach (derision, ridicule) of Egypt from you.” So the name of that place is called Gilgal (rolling) to this day.

10 While the Israelites camped at Gilgal ^athey observed the Passover on the evening of the ^bfourteenth day of the month on the desert plains of Jericho. 11 On the day after Passover, on that very day, they ate some of the produce of the land, unleavened bread, and roasted grain. Lev 23:14 12 ^aAnd the manna ceased on the day after they had eaten some of the produce of the land, so that the Israelites no longer had manna, but they ate some of the produce of the land of Canaan during that year.

13 Now when Joshua was by Jericho, he looked up, and behold, ^1aa man was standing opposite him with his drawn sword in his hand, and Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us or for our adversaries?” 14 He said, “No; rather I have come now as captain of the army of the LORD.” Then Joshua ^afell with his face toward the earth and bowed down, and said to him, “What does my lord have to say to his servant?” 15 The captain of the LORD’S army said to Joshua, “^aRemove your sandals from your feet, because the place where you are standing is holy (set apart to the LORD).” And Joshua did so.
