^aDespués de esto, sucedió que David derrotó¹ a los filisteos y los sometió, y tomó Gat y sus aldeas de mano de los filisteos. 2 Y derrotó a Moab, y los moabitas fueron siervos de David, trayéndole tributo. 3 David derrotó también a Hadad-ezer, rey de Soba, cerca de Hamat, cuandoeste iba a establecer su dominio¹ en el río Eufrates. 4 David le tomó mil carros y siete mil hombres de a caballo y veinte mil soldados de a pie; David desjarretó todos los caballos de los carros, pero dejó suficientes de ellos para cien carros.

5 Cuando vinieron los arameos de Damasco¹ en ayuda de Hadad-ezer, rey de Soba^a, David mató² a veintidós mil hombres de los arameos. 6 Entonces David puso guarniciones en Aram de Damasco¹; y los arameos fueron siervos de David, trayéndole tributo. Y el SEÑOR ayudaba a David dondequiera que iba. 7 Tomó David los escudos de oro que llevaban¹ los siervos de Hadad-ezer, y los trajo a Jerusalén. 8 Asimismo tomó David una gran cantidad de bronce de Tibhat¹ y de Cun, ciudades de Hadad-ezer, con el cual Salomón hizo el mar de bronce, las columnas y los utensilios de bronce^a.

9 Y cuando Tou, rey de Hamat, oyó que David había derrotado¹ a todo el ejército de Hadad-ezer, rey de Soba, 10 envió a su hijo Adoram¹ al rey David para saludarlo² y bendecirlo, porque había peleado contra Hadad-ezer y lo había derrotado³, pues Hadad-ezer había estado en guerra⁴ con Tou⁵. Y Adoram trajo toda clase de objetos de oro, de plata y de bronce, 11 que el rey David dedicó también al SEÑOR, junto con la plata y el oro que había tomado de todas estas¹ naciones: de Edom, de Moab, de los hijos de Amón, de los filisteos y de Amalec.

12 Además Abisai, hijo de Sarvia, derrotó a dieciocho mil edomitas en el valle de la Sal. 13 Puso guarniciones en Edom, y todos los edomitas fueron siervos de David. Y el SEÑOR daba la victoria a David dondequiera que iba.

14 David reinó sobre todo Israel, y administraba¹ justicia y derecho a todo su pueblo. 15 Joab^a, hijo de Sarvia, era jefe del¹ ejército; y Josafat, hijo de Ahilud, era cronista; 16 y Sadoc, hijo de Ahitob, y Abimelec, hijo de Abiatar, eran sacerdotes, y Savsá era escriba; 17 y Benaía, hijo de Joiada, era jefe de¹ los cereteos y peleteos; y los hijos de David eran los primeros junto al rey.

Now after this ^ait came about that David ¹defeated the Philistines and subdued them and took Gath and its towns from the hand of the Philistines. 2 And he defeated Moab, and the Moabites became servants to David, bringing tribute.

3 David also defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah as far as Hamath, as he went to establish his ¹rule to the river Euphrates. 4 David took from him a thousand chariots and seven thousand horsemen and twenty thousand foot soldiers, and David hamstrung almost all the chariot horses, but left enough of them for a hundred chariots.

5 When the Arameans of ¹Damascus came to help Hadadezer king ^aof Zobah, David ²killed twenty-two thousand men of the Arameans. 6 Then David put garrisons among the Arameans of ¹Damascus; and the Arameans became servants to David, bringing tribute. And the LORD helped David wherever he went. 7 And David took the shields of gold which were ¹carried by the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. 8 Also from ¹Tibhath and Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took a very large amount of bronze, with which ^aSolomon made the bronze ²Sea and the pillars and the bronze utensils.

9 Now when ¹Tou king of Hamath heard that David had ²defeated all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah, 10 he sent ¹Hadoram his son to King David to ²greet him and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and had ³defeated him; for Hadadezer had been at war with Tou. And Hadoram brought all kinds of articles of gold and silver and bronze. 11 King David also dedicated these to the LORD, with the silver and the gold which he had carried away from all the nations: from Edom, Moab, the sons of Ammon, the Philistines, and from Amalek.

12 Moreover, Abishai the son of Zeruiah ¹defeated eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt. 13 Then he put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And the LORD helped David wherever he went.

14 So David reigned over all Israel; and he ¹administered justice and righteousness for all his people. 15 ^aJoab the son of Zeruiah was over the army, and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was secretary; 16 and Zadok the son of Ahitub and Abimelech the son of Abiathar were priests, and Shavsha was secretary; 17 and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and the sons of David were chiefs at the king’s side.

After this ^ait came about that David defeated and subdued the Philistines, and he took Gath and its villages out of the hand of the Philistines. 2 He defeated Moab, and the Moabites became David’s servants and brought tribute (gifts) .

3 David also defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah as far as Hamath, as he went to establish his ¹dominion to the Euphrates River. 4 David took from him 1,000 chariots, 7,000 horsemen, and 20,000 foot soldiers (infantrymen) . David also ¹hamstrung nearly all the chariot horses to make them lame and useless, but left enough of them for 100 chariots.

5 When the Arameans (Syrians) of ¹Damascus came to help Hadadezer king ^aof Zobah, David killed 22,000 of the Arameans. 6 Then David put military outposts among the Arameans in Damascus; and the Arameans became David’s servants and brought tribute. Thus the LORD helped David wherever he went. 7 David took the shields of gold which were carried by the servants of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem. 8 Likewise from Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David brought a very large amount of bronze, with which ^aSolomon later made the bronze Sea (large basin) , the pillars, and the utensils of bronze. 1+@Kin 7:13-47; 2+@Chr 4:2-18

9 When Tou king of Hamath heard how David had defeated all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah, 10 he sent Hadoram his son to King David to greet him and to bless (congratulate) him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and had defeated him; for Hadadezer had been at war with Tou. And Hadoram brought all kinds of articles of gold and silver and bronze. 11 King David also dedicated these to the LORD setting them apart for sacred use, with the silver and the gold which he brought from all the nations: from Edom, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines, and from Amalek.

12 Also Abishai the son of Zeruiah David’s half-sister defeated 18,000 Edomites in the Valley of Salt. 13 He put military outposts in Edom, and all the Edomites became David’s servants. Thus the LORD helped David wherever he went.

14 So David reigned over all Israel and administered justice and righteousness for all his people. 15 ^aJoab the son of Zeruiah was in command of the army, and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was the recorder; 16 Zadok the son of Ahitub and Abimelech the son of Abiathar were the priests, and Shavsha was secretary (state scribe) ; 17 and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was in charge of the ¹Cherethites and the Pelethites David’s bodyguards, and the sons of David were chiefs at the king’s side.
