Llamamiento de la sabiduría

^a¿No clama la sabiduría,y levanta¹ su voz la prudencia?2 En la cima de las alturas^a, junto al camino,donde cruzan las sendas, se coloca;3 junto a las puertas^a, a la salida de la ciudad,en el umbral de las puertas, da voces:4 Oh hombres, a vosotros clamo,para los hijos de los hombres es mi voz.5 Oh simples, aprended prudencia^a;y vosotros, necios^b, aprended sabiduría¹.6 Escuchad, porque hablaré cosas excelentes^a,y con el abrir de mis labios rectitud^b.7 Porque mi boca proferirá la verdad^a,abominación a mis labios es la impiedad.8 Conforme a la justicia son todas las palabras de mi boca,no hay en ellas nada torcido ni perverso^a.9 Todas son sinceras para el que entiende^a,y rectas para los que han hallado conocimiento^b.10 Recibid mi instrucción y no la plata,y conocimiento antes que el oro escogido^a;11 porque mejor es la sabiduría que las joyas¹^a,y todas las cosas deseables no pueden compararse con ella^b.

La sabiduría se elogia a sí misma

12 Yo, la sabiduría, habito con la prudencia^a,y he hallado conocimiento y discreción^b.13 El temor del SEÑOR es aborrecer el mal^a.El orgullo, la arrogancia^b, el mal camino^cy la boca perversa^d, yo aborrezco.14 Mío es el consejo^a y la prudencia^b,yo soy la inteligencia, el poder es mío^c.15 Por mí reinan los reyes,y los gobernantes decretan justicia^a.16 Por mí gobiernan los príncipes y los nobles,todos los que juzgan con justicia.17 Amo a los que me aman^a,y los que me buscan con diligencia me hallarán^b.18 Conmigo están las riquezas y el honor^a,la fortuna duradera y la justicia^b.19 Mi fruto es mejor que el oro, que el oro puro^a,y mi ganancia es mejor que la plata escogida^b.20 Yo ando por el camino de la justicia,por en medio de las sendas del derecho,21 para otorgar heredad a los que me amany así llenar sus tesoros^a.

22 El SEÑOR me poseyó al principio de su camino,antes de sus obras de tiempos pasados¹^a.23 Desde la eternidad fui establecida¹^a,desde el principio, desde los orígenes de la tierra^b.24 Cuando no había abismos fui engendrada¹,cuando no había manantiales abundantes en aguas^a.25 Antes que los montes fueran asentados,antes que las colinas, fui engendrada¹^a,26 cuando Él no había hecho aún la tierra y los campos¹,ni el polvo primero del mundo.27 Cuando estableció los cielos^a, allí estaba yo;cuando trazó un círculo sobre la faz del abismo^b,28 cuando arriba afirmó los cielos,cuando las fuentes del abismo se afianzaron¹,29 cuando al mar puso sus límitespara que las aguas no transgredieran su mandato¹^a,cuando señaló los cimientos de la tierra^b,30 yo estaba entonces junto a Él^a, como arquitecto;y era su delicia de día en día,regocijándome¹ en todo tiempo en su presencia,31 regocijándome¹ en el mundo, en su tierra,y teniendo mis delicias con los hijos de los hombres^a.

32 Ahora pues, hijos, escuchadme^a,porque bienaventurados son los que guardan mis caminos^b.33 Escuchad la instrucción y sed sabios^a,y no la menospreciéis.34 Bienaventurado el hombre que me escucha^a,velando a mis puertas día a día,aguardando en los postes de mi entrada.35 Porque el que me halla, halla la vida^a,y alcanza el favor del SEÑOR^b.36 Pero el que peca¹ contra mí, a sí mismo se daña^a;todos los que me odian^b, aman la muerte^c.

The Commendation of Wisdom

Does not ^awisdom call,And understanding ¹raise her voice?2 On top of ^athe heights beside the way,Where the paths meet, she takes her stand;3 Beside the ^agates, at the opening to the city,At the entrance of the doors, she cries out:4 “To you, people, I call,And my voice is to ¹mankind.5 “You ^anaive ones, understand prudence;And, you ^bfools, understand ¹wisdom!6 “Listen, for I will speak ^anoble things;And the opening of my lips will reveal ^bright things.7 “For my ^amouth will proclaim truth;And wickedness is an abomination to my lips.8 “All the words of my mouth are in righteousness;There is nothing ^acrooked or perverted in them.9 “They are all ^astraightforward to him who understands,And right to those who ^bfind knowledge.10 “Accept my ^ainstruction and not silver,And knowledge rather than choice gold.11 “For wisdom is ^abetter than ¹jewels;And ^ball desirable things cannot compare with her.

12 “I, wisdom, ^adwell with prudence,And I find ^bknowledge and discretion.13 “The ^afear of the LORD is to hate evil;^bPride, arrogance, ^cthe evil way,And the ^dperverted mouth, I hate.14 “^aAdvice is mine and ^bsound wisdom;I am understanding, ^cpower is mine.15 “By me ^akings reign,And rulers decree justice.16 “By me princes rule, and nobles,All who judge rightly.17 “I ^alove those who love me;And ^bthose who diligently seek me will find me.18 “^aRiches and honor are with me,Enduring ^bwealth and righteousness.19 “My fruit is ^abetter than gold, even pure gold;And my yield better than ^bchoice silver.20 “I walk in the way of righteousness,In the midst of the paths of justice,21 To endow those who love me with wealth,That I may ^afill their treasuries.

22 “The LORD ¹created me ^aat the beginning of His way,Before His works ²of old.23 “From eternity I was ¹^aestablished,From the beginning, ^bfrom the earliest times of the earth.24 “When there were no ^aocean depths, I was born,When there were no springs abounding with water.25 “^aBefore the mountains were settled,Before the hills, I was born;26 While He had not yet made the earth and the ¹fields,Nor the first dust of the world.27 “When He ^aestablished the heavens, I was there;When ^bHe inscribed a circle on the face of the deep,28 When He made firm the skies above,When the springs of the deep became ¹fixed,29 When ^aHe set a boundary for the seaSo that the water would not violate His ¹command,When He marked out ^bthe foundations of the earth;30 Then ^aI was beside Him, as a master workman;And I was His delight daily,¹Rejoicing always before Him,31 ¹Rejoicing in the world, His earth,And having ^amy delight in the sons of mankind.

32 “Now then, sons, ^alisten to me,For ^bblessed are those who keep my ways.33 “^aListen to instruction and be wise,And do not neglect it.34 “^aBlessed is the person who listens to me,Watching daily at my gates,Waiting at my doorposts.35 “For ^aone who finds me finds life,And ^bobtains favor from the LORD.36 “But one who ¹sins against me ^ainjures himself;All those who ^bhate me ^clove death.”

The Commendation of Wisdom

Does not ^awisdom call,And understanding lift up her voice?2 On the top of ^athe heights beside the way,Where the paths meet, wisdom takes her stand;3 Beside the ^agates, at the entrance to the city,At the entrance of the doors, she cries out:4 “To you, O men, I call,And my voice is directed to the sons of men.5 “O you ^anaive or inexperienced who are easily misled, understand prudence and seek astute common sense;And, O you closed-minded, self-confident ^bfools, understand wisdom seek the insight and self-discipline that leads to godly living. Is 32:66 “Listen, for I will speak ^aexcellent and noble things;And the opening of my lips will reveal ^bright things.7 “For my ^amouth will utter truth,And wickedness is repulsive and loathsome to my lips.8 “All the words of my mouth are in righteousness (upright, in right standing with God) ;There is nothing ^acontrary to truth or perverted (crooked) in them.9 “They are all ^astraightforward to him who understands with an open and willing mind,And right to those who ^bfind knowledge and live by it.10 “Take my ^ainstruction rather than seeking silver,And take knowledge rather than choicest gold,11 For wisdom is ^abetter than rubies;And ^ball desirable things cannot compare with her. 12 “I, godly wisdom, ^areside with prudence good judgment, moral courage and astute common sense,And I find ^bknowledge and discretion. 22 “The LORD created and possessed me ^aat the beginning of His way,Before His works of old were accomplished.23 “From everlasting I was ^aestablished and ordained,From the beginning, ^bbefore the earth existed, I, godly wisdom, existed. 32 “Now therefore, O sons, ^alisten to me,For ^bblessed happy, prosperous, to be admired are they who keep my ways. Ps 119:1, 2; 128:1, 2; Luke 11:2833 “^aHeed (pay attention to) instruction and be wise,And do not ignore or neglect it.34 “^aBlessed happy, prosperous, to be admired is the man who listens to me,Watching daily at my gates,Waiting at my doorposts.35 “For ^awhoever finds me (Wisdom) finds lifeAnd ^bobtains favor and grace from the LORD.36 “But he who fails to find me or sins against me ^ainjures himself;All those who ^bhate me ^clove and court death.”
