Artimañas de la ramera

Hijo mío, guarda mis palabras,y atesora mis mandamientos contigo^a.2 Guarda mis mandamientos y vivirás^a,y mi enseñanza¹ como la niña de tus ojos^b.3 Atalos a tus dedos^a,escríbelos en la tabla de tu corazón^b.4 Di a la sabiduría: Tú eres mi hermana,y llama a la inteligencia tu mejor amiga,5 para que te guarden de la mujer extraña,de la desconocida¹ que lisonjea² con sus palabras.

6 Porque desde la ventana de mi casamiraba por la celosía^a,7 y vi entre los simples^a,distinguí entre los muchachos¹a un joven falto de juicio²^b,8 pasando por la calle cerca de su¹ esquina^a;iba² camino de su³ casa^b,9 al atardecer, al anochecer¹^a,en medio² de la noche y la oscuridad.10 Y he aquí, una mujer le sale al encuentro,vestida como ramera y astuta de corazón^a.11 Es alborotadora^a y rebelde,sus pies no permanecen en casa^b;12 está ya en las calles, ya en las plazas^a,y acecha^b por todas las esquinas.13 Y lo agarra y lo besa,y descarada¹^a le dice:14 Tenía que ofrecer ofrendas de paz¹^a,y hoy he cumplido mis votos^b;15 por eso he salido a encontrarte,buscando tu rostro con ansiedad, y te he hallado.16 He tendido mi lecho con colchas^a,con linos de Egipto en colores^b;17 he rociado mi camacon mirra, áloes^a y canela^b.18 Ven, embriaguémonos de amor hasta la mañana,deleitémonos con caricias.19 Porque mi¹ marido no está en casa,se ha ido a un largo viaje;20 se ha llevado en la mano la bolsa del dinero^a,volverá a casa para la luna llena.21 Con sus palabras persuasivas lo atrae,lo seduce con sus labios lisonjeros¹^a.22 Al instante la sigue,como va el buey al matadero,o como uno en grillos al castigo de un necio¹,23 hasta que una flecha le traspasa el hígado;como el ave que se precipita en la trampa^a,y no sabe que esto le costará la vida.

24 Ahora pues, hijos míos, escuchadme,y prestad atención a las palabras de mi boca^a.25 No se desvíe tu corazón hacia sus caminos,no te extravíes en sus sendas^a.26 Porque muchas son las víctimas¹ derribadas por ella,y numerosos los que ha matado^a.27 Su casa es el camino al Seol,que desciende a las cámaras de la muerte^a.

My son, ^akeep my wordsAnd treasure my commandments within you.2 ^aKeep my commandments and live,And my ¹teaching ^bas the ²apple of your eye.3 ^aBind them on your fingers;^bWrite them on the tablet of your heart.4 Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,”And call understanding your intimate friend,5 So that they may keep you from an ¹adulteress,From the foreigner who flatters with her words.

6 For ^aat the window of my houseI looked out ^bthrough my lattice,7 And I saw among the ^anaive,And discerned among the ¹youthsA young man ^blacking ²sense,8 Passing through the street near ^aher corner;And he walks along the way to ^bher house,9 In the ^atwilight, in the ¹evening,In the ²middle of the night and the darkness.10 And behold, a woman comes to meet him,^aDressed as a prostitute and cunning of heart.11 She is ^aboisterous and rebellious,Her ^bfeet do not remain at home;12 She is now in the streets, now ^ain the public squares,And ^blurks by every corner.13 So she seizes him and kisses him,¹And with a ^abrazen face she says to him:14 “¹I was due to offer ^apeace offerings;Today I have ^bpaid my vows.15 “Therefore I have come out to meet you,To seek your presence diligently, and I have found you.16 “I have spread my couch with ^acoverings,With colored ^blinens of Egypt.17 “I have sprinkled my bedWith ^amyrrh, aloes, and ^bcinnamon.18 “Come, let’s drink our fill of love until morning;Let’s delight ourselves with caresses.19 “For ¹my husband is not at home;He has gone on a long journey.20 “He has taken a ^abag of money ¹with him.At the full moon he will come home.”21 With her many persuasions she entices him;With her ¹^aflattering lips she seduces him.22 Suddenly he follows herAs an ox goes to the slaughter,Or as ¹one walks in ankle bracelets to the discipline of a fool,23 Until an arrow pierces through his liver;As a ^abird hurries to the snare,So he does not know that it will cost him his life.

24 Now therefore, my sons, ^alisten to me,And pay attention to the words of my mouth.25 Do not let your heart ^aturn aside to her ways,Do not stray into her paths.26 For many are the ¹victims she has brought to ruin,And ^anumerous are all those slaughtered by her.27 Her ^ahouse is the way to Sheol,Descending to the chambers of death.

6 For ^aat the window of my houseI looked out ^bthrough my lattice.7 And among the ^anaive the inexperienced and gullible,I saw among the youthsA young man ^blacking good sense,8 Passing through the street near ^aher corner;And he took the path to ^bher house9 In the ^atwilight, in the evening;In the black and dark night.10 And there a woman met him,^aDressed as a prostitute and sly and cunning of heart.11 She was ^aboisterous and rebellious;¹She ^bwould not stay at home.12 At times she was in the streets, at times ^ain the market places,^bLurking and setting her ambush at every corner.13 So she caught him and kissed himAnd with a ^abrazen and impudent face she said to him:14 “I have ^apeace offerings with me;Today I have ^bpaid my vows.15 “So I came out to meet you that you might share with me the feast of my offering,Diligently I sought your face and I have found you.16 “I have spread my couch with ^acoverings and cushions of tapestry,With colored ^bfine linen of Egypt.17 “I have perfumed my bedWith ^amyrrh, aloes, and ^bcinnamon.18 “Come, let us drink our fill of love until morning;Let us console and delight ourselves with love.19 “For my husband is not at home.He has gone on a long journey;20 He has taken a ^abag of money with him,And he will come home on the appointed day.”21 With her many persuasions she caused him to yield;With her ^aflattering lips she seduced him.22 Suddenly he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter not knowing the outcome,Or as one in stocks going to the correction to be given to a fool,23 Until an arrow pierced his liver with a mortal wound;Like a ^abird fluttering straight into the net,He did not know that it would cost him his life.

24 ^aNow therefore, my sons, listen to me,And pay attention to the words of my mouth.25 Do not let your heart ^aturn aside to her ways,Do not stray into her evil, immoral paths.26 For she has cast down many mortally wounded;Indeed, ^aall who were killed by her were strong.
