El SEÑOR habló a Moisés y a Aarón, diciéndoles: 2 ^aHablad a los hijos de Israel, y decidles¹: «Estos son los animales que podréis comer de entre todos los animales que hay sobre la tierra. 3 De entre los animales, todo el que tiene pezuña dividida, formando así cascos hendidos, y rumia,este comeréis. 4 Sin embargo, de los que rumian o tienen pezuña dividida, no comeréisestos: el camello, porque aunque rumia no tiene pezuña dividida; será inmundo para vosotros^a; 5 el damán¹, porque aunque rumia, no tiene pezuña dividida; será inmundo para vosotros; 6 el conejo¹, porque aunque rumia, no tiene pezuña dividida; será inmundo para vosotros; 7 y el cerdo, porque aunque tiene pezuña dividida, formando así un casco hendido, no rumia; será inmundo para vosotros. 8 No comeréis de su carne ni tocaréis sus cadáveres; serán inmundos para vosotros.

9 »De todos los animales que hay en las aguas, podréis comerestos: todos los que tienen aletas y escamas en las aguas, en los mares o en los ríos, podréis comer^a. 10 Pero todos los que no tienen aletas ni escamas en los mares y en los ríos, entre todo lo que se mueve en las aguas y entre todas las criaturas vivientes que están en el agua, os serán abominación^a; 11 os serán abominación, no comeréis de su carne y abominaréis sus cadáveres. 12 Todo lo que en las aguas no tenga aletas ni escamas, os será abominación.

13 »Además,estas abominaréis de entre las aves, no se comerán, son abominación: el águila¹, el buitre y el buitre negro, 14 el milano y el halcón según su especie; 15 todo cuervo según su especie; 16 el avestruz, la lechuza, la gaviota y el gavilán según su especie; 17 el búho, el somormujo, el búho real, 18 la lechuza blanca, el pelícano, el buitre común, 19 la cigüeña, la garza según su especie; la abubilla y el murciélago^a.

20 »Todo insecto alado que ande sobre cuatro patas os será abominación. 21 Sin embargo,estos podéis comer de entre todos los insectos alados que andan sobre cuatro patas: los que tienen, además de sus patas, piernas con coyunturas para saltar con ellas sobre la tierra. 22 De ellos podéis comerestos: la langosta según sus especies, la langosta destructora según sus especies, el grillo según sus especies y el saltamontes según sus especies. 23 Pero todos los demás insectos alados que tengan cuatro patas os serán abominación.

24 »Por estos animales, pues, seréis inmundos; todo el que toque sus cadáveres quedará inmundo hasta el atardecer, 25 y todo el que levante parte de sus cadáveres lavará sus vestidos y quedará inmundo hasta el atardecer^a. 26 En cuanto a todo animal de pezuña dividida, pero que no forma pezuña hendida, o que no rumian, serán inmundos para vosotros; todo el que los toque quedará inmundo. 27 Y de entre los animales que andan sobre cuatro patas, los que andan sobre sus garras son inmundos para vosotros; todo el que toque sus cadáveres quedará inmundo hasta el atardecer, 28 y el que levante sus cadáveres lavará sus ropas y quedará inmundo hasta el atardecer; os son inmundos.

29 »Y de entre los animales que se arrastran sobre la tierra,estos serán inmundos para vosotros: el topo, el ratón y el lagarto¹ según sus especies; 30 el erizo¹, el cocodrilo², el lagarto, la lagartija de arena³ y el camaleón. 31 Estos serán inmundos para vosotros de entre todos los animales que se arrastran; todo el que los toque cuando estén muertos quedará inmundo hasta el atardecer. 32 También quedará inmunda cualquier cosa sobre la cual caiga muerto uno de ellos, incluso cualquier artículo de madera, ropa, piel, saco, o cualquier utensilio de¹ trabajo; será puesto en el agua^a y quedará inmundo hasta el atardecer; entonces quedará limpio. 33 Respecto a cualquier vasija de barro en la cual caiga uno de ellos, lo que está en la vasija¹ quedará inmundo y quebraréis la vasija^2a. 34 Todo alimento¹ que se come, sobre el cual caiga de esta agua, quedará inmundo, y todo líquido² que se beba en tales vasijas³ quedará inmundo. 35 Todo aquello sobre lo cual caiga parte de sus cadáveres quedará inmundo; el horno o fogón¹ será derribado; son inmundos y seguirán siendo inmundos para vosotros. 36 Sin embargo, una fuente o cisterna donde se recoge¹ agua será limpia, pero lo que toque sus cadáveres quedará inmundo. 37 Y si parte de sus cadáveres cae sobre cualquier semilla¹ que se ha de sembrar, quedará limpia. 38 Pero si se pone agua en la semilla, y una parte de sus cadáveres cae en ella, será inmunda para vosotros.

39 »Si muere uno de los animales que tenéis para comer, el que toque su cadáver quedará inmundo hasta el atardecer. 40 Y el que coma parte de su cadáver lavará sus vestidos y quedará inmundo hasta el atardecer; y el que levante el cadáver lavará sus vestidos y quedará inmundo hasta el atardecer^a.

41 »Todo animal que se arrastra¹ sobre la tierra es abominable^a; no se comerá. 42 Todo lo que anda sobre su vientre, todo lo que camina sobre cuatro patas, todo lo que tiene muchos pies, con respecto a todo lo que se arrastra sobre la tierra, no los comeréis porque es abominación. 43 No os hagáis¹ abominables por causa de ningún animal que se arrastra^a; y no os contaminéis con ellos para que no seáis inmundos. 44 Porque yo soy el SEÑOR vuestro Dios^a. Por tanto, consagraos y sed santos, porque yo soy santo^b. No os contaminéis, pues, con ningún animal que se arrastra sobre la tierra. 45 Porque yo soy el SEÑOR, que os he hecho subir de la tierra de Egipto para ser vuestro Dios^a; seréis, pues, santos porque yo soy santo^b».

46 Esta es la ley acerca de los animales, de las aves, de todo ser viviente que se mueve en las aguas y de todo animal que se arrastra sobre la tierra, 47 para hacer distinción entre lo inmundo y lo limpio^a, entre el animal que se puede comer y el animal que no se puede comer.

The LORD spoke again to Moses and to Aaron, saying to them, 2 “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘^aThese are the creatures which you may eat from all the animals that are on the earth. 3 Whatever has a divided hoof, showing split hoofs, and chews the cud, among the animals, that you may eat. 4 Nevertheless, ^ayou are not to eat of these, among those which chew the cud, or among those which have a divided hoof: the camel, for though it chews cud, it does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean to you. 5 Likewise, the rock hyrax, for though it chews cud, it does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean to you. 6 The ¹rabbit also, for though it chews cud, it does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean to you. 7 And the pig, for though it has a divided hoof, and so it shows a split hoof, it does not chew cud; it is unclean to you. 8 You shall not eat any of their flesh nor touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you.

9 ‘^aThese you may eat, of whatever is in the water: everything that has fins and scales, in the water, in the seas, or in the rivers, you may eat. 10 ^aBut whatever is in the seas and in the rivers that does not have fins and scales among all the teeming life of the water, and among all the living creatures that are in the water, they are detestable things to you, 11 and they shall be detestable to you; you may not eat any of their flesh, and you shall detest their carcasses. 12 Whatever in the water does not have fins and scales is detestable to you.

13 ‘Moreover, these ^ayou shall detest among the birds; they are detestable, not to be eaten: the ¹eagle, the vulture, and the ²buzzard, 14 the red kite, the falcon in its kind, 15 every raven in its kind, 16 the ostrich, the owl, the seagull, and the hawk in its kind, 17 the little owl, the cormorant, and the ¹great owl, 18 the white owl, the ¹pelican, and the carrion vulture, 19 the stork, the heron in its kinds, the hoopoe, and the bat.

20 ‘All the ¹winged insects that walk on all fours are detestable to you. 21 Yet these you may eat among all the ¹winged insects that walk on all fours: those which have jointed legs above their feet with which to jump on the earth. 22 These of them you may eat: the locust in its kinds, the devastating locust in its kinds, the cricket in its kinds, and the grasshopper in its kinds. 23 But all other ¹winged insects which are four-footed are detestable to you.

24 ‘By these, moreover, you will be made unclean; whoever touches their carcasses becomes unclean until evening, 25 and ^awhoever picks up any of their carcasses shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening. 26 As for all the animals which have a divided hoof but do not show a split hoof, or do not chew the cud, they are unclean to you; whoever touches them becomes unclean. 27 Also whatever walks on its paws, among all the creatures that walk on all fours, are unclean to you; whoever touches their carcasses becomes unclean until evening, 28 and the one who picks up their carcasses shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening; they are unclean to you.

29 ‘Now these are to you the unclean among the swarming things which swarm on the earth: the mole, the mouse, and the ¹great lizard in its kinds, 30 the gecko, the ¹crocodile, the lizard, the ²sand reptile, and the chameleon. 31 These are to you the unclean among all the swarming things; whoever touches them when they are dead becomes unclean until evening. 32 Also anything on which one of them may fall when they are dead becomes unclean, including any wooden article, or clothing, or a hide, or a sack—any article ¹of which use is made—^ait shall be put in the water and be unclean until evening, then it becomes clean. 33 As for any ^aearthenware vessel into which one of them may fall, whatever is in it becomes unclean and you shall break ¹the vessel. 34 Any of the ¹food which may be eaten, on which water comes, shall become unclean, and any ²liquid which may be drunk in every vessel shall become unclean. 35 Moreover, everything on which part of their carcass may fall becomes unclean; an oven or a ¹stove shall be smashed; they are unclean and shall continue as unclean to you. 36 Nevertheless, a spring or a cistern ¹collecting water shall be clean, though the one who touches their carcass shall be unclean. 37 Now if a part of their carcass falls on any seed for sowing which is to be sown, it is clean. 38 But if water is put on the seed and a part of their carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you.

39 ‘Also if one of the animals dies which you have for food, the one who touches its carcass becomes unclean until evening. 40 ^aHe, too, who eats some of its carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening, and the one who picks up its carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening.

41 ‘^aNow every swarming thing that swarms on the earth is detestable, not to be eaten. 42 Whatever crawls on its belly, and whatever walks on all fours, whatever has many feet, in regard to every swarming thing that swarms on the earth, you shall not eat them, because they are detestable. 43 ^aDo not make ¹yourselves detestable through any of the swarming things that swarm; and you shall not make yourselves unclean with them so that you become unclean. 44 For ^aI am the LORD your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and ^bbe holy, because I am holy. And you shall not make yourselves unclean with any of the swarming things that swarm on the earth. 45 ^aFor I am the LORD who brought you up from the land of Egypt, to be your God; so ^byou shall be holy, because I am holy.’”

46 This is the law regarding the animal and the bird, and every living thing that moves in the waters and everything that swarms on the earth, 47 ^ato make a distinction between the unclean and the clean, and between the edible creature and the creature which is not to be eaten.

The LORD spoke again to Moses and Aaron, saying to them, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘Among all the animals which are on the earth, ^athese are the animals which you may eat. Mark 7:15-19 3 You may eat any animal that has a divided hoof that is, a hoof split into two parts especially at its distal extremity and chews the cud. 4 Nevertheless, ^ayou are not to eat these, among those which chew the cud or divide the hoof: the camel, because it chews the cud but does not divide the hoof; it is ceremonially unclean to you. 5 And the ¹shaphan, because it chews the cud but does not divide the hoof; it is unclean to you. 6 And the hare, because it chews the cud but does not divide the hoof; it is unclean to you. 7 And the swine, because it divides the hoof and makes a split hoof, but does not chew the cud; it is unclean to you. 8 You shall not eat their meat nor touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you.

9 ‘^aThese you may eat, whatever is in the water: whatever has fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, these you may eat; 10 ^abut whatever does not have fins and scales in the seas and in the rivers, of all the teeming life in the waters, and of all the living creatures that are in the waters, they are to be considered detestable to you. 1+@Cor 8:8-13 11 They shall be ¹hated things to you. You may not eat their meat; you shall detest their carcasses. 12 Everything in the water that does not have fins and scales is detestable to you.

13 ‘These ^ayou shall detest among the birds; they are not to be eaten, for they are ¹hated things: the eagle and the vulture and the buzzard, 14 the kite, every kind of falcon, 15 every kind of raven, 16 the ostrich, the nighthawk, the sea gull, every species of hawk, 17 the little owl and the cormorant and the great owl, 18 the white owl, the pelican, the carrion vulture, 19 the stork, all kinds of heron, the hoopoe, and the bat.

20 ‘All winged insects that walk on all fours are detestable to you; 21 yet of all winged insects that walk on all fours you may eat those which have legs above their feet with which to leap on the ground. 22 Of these you may eat: the whole species of migratory locust, of bald locust, of cricket, and of grasshopper. Matt 3:4 23 But all other winged insects which are four footed are detestable to you.

24 ‘By contact with these you will become unclean; whoever touches their carcasses becomes unclean until the evening (dusk) , 25 and ^awhoever picks up any of their carcasses shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening. 26 Concerning all the animals which divide the hoof, but do not have a split hoof, or which do not chew the cud, they are unclean to you; whoever touches them becomes unclean. 27 Also all animals that walk on their paws, among all kinds of animals that walk on four legs, are unclean to you; whoever touches their carcasses becomes unclean until the evening, 28 and the one who picks up their carcasses shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening; they are unclean to you.

29 ‘These also are unclean to you among the swarming things that crawl around on the ground and multiply profusely: the mole, the mouse, and any kind of great lizard, 30 the gecko, the crocodile, the lizard, the sand reptile, and the chameleon. 31 These creatures are unclean to you among all that swarm; whoever touches them when they are dead becomes unclean until evening. 32 Also anything on which one of them falls after dying becomes unclean, whether it is an article of wood or clothing, or a skin, or a sack—any article that is used—^ait must be put in water, and will be unclean until the evening; then it becomes clean. 33 As for any ^aearthenware container into which any of these crawling things falls, whatever is in it becomes unclean, and you shall break the container. 34 Any of the food which may be eaten, but on which unclean water falls, shall become unclean, and any liquid that may be drunk in every container shall become unclean. 35 Everything that part of their carcass falls on becomes unclean; an oven, or a small stove shall be smashed; they are unclean, and shall be unclean to you. 36 Nevertheless a spring or a cistern (reservoir) collecting water shall be clean; but whoever touches one of these carcasses shall be unclean. 37 If a part of their carcass falls on any seed for sowing which is to be sown, it is clean; 38 but if water is put on the seed and a part of their carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you.

39 ‘If one of the animals that you may eat dies of natural causes, whoever touches its carcass becomes unclean until the evening. 40 And ^awhoever eats some of its meat shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until evening; also whoever picks up its carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening.

41 ‘^aNow everything that swarms on the ground is detestable; it is not to be eaten. 42 Whatever crawls on its belly, and whatever walks on all fours, and whatever has many feet among all things that swarm on the ground, you shall not eat; for they are detestable. 43 ^aDo not make yourselves loathsome (impure, repulsive) by eating any swarming thing; you shall not make yourselves unclean by them so as to defile yourselves. 44 For ^aI am the LORD your God; so consecrate yourselves and ^bbe holy, for I am holy. You shall not make yourselves unclean with any of the swarming things that swarm or crawls on the ground. 1+@Thess 4:7, 8 45 ^aFor I am the LORD who brought you up from the land of Egypt to be your God; therefore ^byou shall be holy, for I am holy.’” 1+@Pet 1:14-16

46 This is the law regarding the animal and the bird and every living thing that moves in the waters and everything that swarms on the earth, 47 ^ato make a distinction between the ceremonially unclean and the ceremonially clean, and between the animal that may be eaten and the animal that may not be eaten.
