Pero Jericó estaba muy bien cerrada a causa de los hijos de Israel; nadie salía ni entraba. 2 Y el SEÑOR dijo a Josué: Mira, he entregado en tu mano a Jericó y a su rey^a con sus valientes guerreros. 3 Marcharéis alrededor de la ciudad todos los hombres de guerra rodeando la ciudad una vez. Así lo harás por seis días. 4 Y siete sacerdotes llevarán siete trompetas de cuerno de carnero^a delante del arca; y al séptimo día marcharéis alrededor de la ciudad siete veces, y los sacerdotes tocarán las trompetas. 5 Y sucederá que cuando toquen un sonido prolongado con el cuerno de carnero, y cuando oigáis el sonido de la trompeta, todo el pueblo gritará a gran voz, y la muralla de la ciudad se vendrá abajo¹; entonces el pueblo subirá, cada hombre derecho hacia adelante².

6 Y Josué, hijo de Nun, llamó a los sacerdotes, y les dijo: Tomad el arca del pacto, y que siete sacerdotes lleven siete trompetas de cuerno de carnero delante del arca del SEÑOR. 7 Entonces dijo¹ al pueblo: Pasad, y marchad alrededor de la ciudad, y que los hombres armados vayan delante del arca del SEÑOR. 8 Y sucedió que después que Josué había hablado al pueblo, los siete sacerdotes que llevaban las siete trompetas de cuerno de carnero delante del SEÑOR, se adelantaron y tocaron las trompetas; y el arca del pacto del SEÑOR los seguía. 9 Los hombres armados iban delante de los sacerdotes que tocaban las trompetas, y la retaguardia^a iba detrás del arca, mientras ellos continuaban tocando las trompetas^b. 10 Pero Josué dio órdenes al pueblo, diciendo: No gritaréis ni dejaréis oír vuestra voz, ni saldrá palabra de vuestra boca, hasta el día que yo os diga: «¡Gritad!». Entonces gritaréis. 11 Así hizo que el arca del SEÑOR fuera alrededor de la ciudad, rodeándola una vez; entonces volvieron al campamento, y pasaron la noche en el campamento.

12 Y Josué se levantó muy de mañana, y los sacerdotes tomaron el arca del SEÑOR. 13 Y los siete sacerdotes llevando las siete trompetas de cuerno de carnero iban delante del arca^a del SEÑOR, andando continuamente y tocando las trompetas; y los hombres armados iban delante de ellos y la retaguardia iba detrás del arca del SEÑOR mientras ellos seguían tocando las trompetas^b. 14 Así marcharon una vez alrededor de la ciudad el segundo día y volvieron al campamento; así lo hicieron por seis días.

15 Al¹ séptimo día se levantaron temprano, al despuntar el día, y marcharon alrededor de la ciudad de la misma manera siete veces.Solo aquel día marcharon siete veces alrededor de la ciudad. 16 Y sucedió que, a la séptima vez, cuando los sacerdotes tocaron las trompetas, Josué dijo al pueblo: ¡Gritad^a! Pues el SEÑOR os ha dado la ciudad. 17 Y la ciudad será dedicada al anatema^a, ella y todo lo que hay en ella pertenece al SEÑOR^b;solo Rahab la ramera y¹ todos los que están en su casa vivirán, porque ella escondió a los mensajeros que enviamos. 18 Pero en cuanto a vosotros, guardaos ciertamente de las cosas dedicadas al anatema, no sea que las codiciéis¹ y tomando de las cosas del anatema, hagáis maldito el campamento de Israel y traigáis desgracia sobre él^a. 19 Mas toda la plata y el oro, y los utensilios de bronce y de hierro, están consagrados al SEÑOR; entrarán en el tesoro del SEÑOR^a. 20 Entonces el pueblo gritó y los sacerdotes tocaron las trompetas; y sucedió que cuando el pueblo oyó el sonido de la trompeta, el pueblo gritó a gran voz y la muralla se vino abajo^1a, y el pueblo subió a la ciudad, cada hombre derecho hacia adelante², y tomaron la ciudad. 21 Y destruyeron por completo¹, a filo de espada, todo lo que había en la ciudad: hombres y mujeres, jóvenes y ancianos, bueyes, ovejas y asnos^a.

22 Pero Josué dijo a los dos hombres que habían reconocido la tierra: Entrad en la casa de la ramera, y sacad de allí a la mujer y todo lo que posea, tal como se lo jurasteis^a. 23 Entraron, pues, los jóvenes espías y sacaron a Rahab^a, a su padre, a su madre, a sus hermanos y todo lo que poseía; también sacaron a todos sus parientes, y los colocaron fuera del campamento de Israel. 24 Y prendieron fuego a la ciudad y a todo lo que en ella había^a.Solo pusieron en el tesoro de la casa¹ del SEÑOR, la plata, el oro y los utensilios de bronce y de hierro. 25 Pero Josué dejó vivir a Rahab la ramera^a, a la casa de su padre y todo lo que ella tenía; y ella ha habitado en medio de Israel hasta hoy, porque escondió a los mensajeros a quienes Josué había enviado a reconocer a Jericó^b.

26 Entonces Josué les hizo un juramento en aquel tiempo, diciendo: Maldito sea delante del SEÑOR el hombre que se levante y reedifique esta ciudad de Jericó; con la pérdida de su primogénito echará su cimiento, y con la pérdida de su hijo menor colocará sus puertas^a. 27 Y el SEÑOR estaba con Josué^a, y su fama se extendió¹ por toda la tierra^b.

Now Jericho was tightly shut because of the sons of Israel; no one went out and no one came in. 2 But the LORD said to Joshua, “See, I have handed Jericho over to you, with ^aits king and the valiant warriors. 3 And you shall march around the city, all the men of war circling the city once. You shall do so for six days. 4 Also seven priests shall carry seven ^atrumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark; then on the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. 5 It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city will fall down ¹flat, and the people shall go up, everyone ²straight ahead.”

6 So Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant, and have seven priests carry seven trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark of the LORD.” 7 Then ¹he said to the people, “Go forward and march around the city, and the armed men shall go on ahead of the ark of the LORD.” 8 And it was so, that when Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests carrying the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the LORD went forward and blew the trumpets; and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them. 9 And the armed men went ahead of the priests who blew the trumpets, and ^athe rear guard came after the ark, while they continued to blow the trumpets. 10 But Joshua commanded the people, saying, “You shall not shout nor let your voice be heard, nor let a word proceed from your mouth, until the day I tell you, ‘Shout!’ Then you shall shout!” 11 So he had the ark of the LORD ¹taken around the city, circling it once; then they came into the camp and spent the night in the camp.

12 Now Joshua got up early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD. 13 Then ^athe seven priests carrying the seven trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark of the LORD went on continually, and blew the trumpets; and the armed men went ahead of them, and ^bthe rear guard came after the ark of the LORD, while they continued to blow the trumpets. 14 So the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp; they did the same for six days.

15 Then on the seventh day they got up early at the dawning of the day and marched around the city in the same way seven times; only on that day did they march around the city seven times. 16 And at the seventh time, when the priests blew the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, “^aShout! For the LORD has given you the city. 17 But the city shall be ^adesignated for ¹destruction, it and everything that is in it belongs to the LORD; only Rahab the prostitute ²and all who are with her in the house shall live, because she hid the messengers whom we sent. 18 But as for you, only keep yourselves from the things designated for destruction, so that you do not covet them and ^atake some of the designated things, and turn the camp of Israel into something designated for destruction and bring disaster on it. 19 ^aBut all the silver and gold, and articles of bronze and iron are holy to the LORD; they shall go into the treasury of the LORD.” 20 So the people shouted, and ¹the priests blew the trumpets; and when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted with a great shout, and the ^awall fell down ²flat, so that the people went up into the city, everyone straight ³ahead, and they took the city. 21 ^aThey ¹utterly destroyed everything in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, sheep, and donkey, with the edge of the sword.

22 And Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, “^aGo into the prostitute’s house and bring the woman and all she has out of there, just as you have sworn to her.” 23 So the young men who were spies went in and ^abrought out Rahab, her father, her mother, her brothers, and all she had; they also brought out all her relatives, and placed them outside the camp of Israel. 24 Then ^athey burned the city with fire, and all that was in it. Only the silver and gold, and the articles of bronze and iron, they put into the treasury of the ¹house of the LORD. 25 However, ^aRahab the prostitute and her father’s household and all she had, Joshua ¹spared; and she has lived in the midst of Israel to this day, because ^bshe hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

26 Then Joshua made them take an oath at that time, saying, “^aCursed before the LORD is the man who rises up and builds this city Jericho; with the loss of his firstborn he will lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son he will set up its gates.” 27 So ^athe LORD was with Joshua, and his ^bfame was in all the land.

Now Jericho a fortified city with high walls was tightly closed because of the people’s fear of the sons of Israel; no one went out or came in. 2 The LORD said to Joshua, “See, I have given Jericho into your hand, with ^aits king and the mighty warriors. 3 Now you shall march around the city, all the men of war circling the city once. You shall do this once each day for six days. 4 Also, seven priests shall carry seven ^atrumpets made of rams’ horns ahead of the ark; then on the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. 5 When they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall cry out with a great shout (battle cry) ; and the wall of the city will fall down in its place, and the people shall go up, each man going straight ahead climbing over the rubble.”

6 So Joshua the son of Nun called for the priests and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant, and have seven priests carry seven trumpets made of rams’ horns ahead of the ark of the LORD.” 7 He said to the people, “Go forward! March around the city, and let the armed men go ahead of the ark of the LORD.” 8 And it was so, that when Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests carrying the seven trumpets made of rams’ horns went on before the LORD and blew the trumpets; then the ark of the covenant of the LORD went behind them. 9 The armed men went in front of the priests who blew the trumpets, and ^athe rear guard came after the ark, while the priests continued to blow the trumpets. 10 But Joshua commanded the people, “You shall not shout the battle cry nor let your voice be heard nor let a word come out of your mouth, until the day I tell you to shout. Then you shall shout!” 11 So Joshua had the ark of the LORD taken around the city on the first day, circling it once; then they came back into the camp and spent the night in the camp.

12 Then Joshua got up early in the morning on the second day, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD. 13 ^aThe seven priests carrying the seven trumpets made of rams’ horns ahead of the ark of the LORD went on continually, blowing the trumpets; and the armed men went ahead of them and ^bthe rear guard came after the ark of the LORD, while the priests continued to blow the trumpets. 14 On the second day they marched around the city once, and returned to the camp; they did this for six days.

15 Then on the seventh day they got up early at daybreak and marched around the city in the same way seven times; only on that day they marched around the city ¹seven times. 16 And the seventh time, when the priests had blown the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, “^aShout! For the LORD has given you the city. 17 The city and everything that is in it shall be ^aunder the ban that is, designated to be destroyed as a form of tribute to the LORD; only Rahab the prostitute and all the people who are with her in her house shall be allowed to live, because she hid and protected the messengers (scouts) whom we sent. 18 But as for you, keep yourselves away from the things under the ban which are to be destroyed, so that you do not covet them and ^atake some of the things under the ban for personal gain, and put the camp of Israel under the ban (doomed to destruction) , and bring disaster upon it. 19 ^aAll the silver and gold and articles of bronze and iron are holy (consecrated) to the LORD; they shall go into the treasury of the LORD.” 20 So the people shouted the battle cry, and the priests blew the trumpets. When the people heard the sound of the trumpet, they raised a great shout and the ^awall of Jericho fell down, so that the sons of Israel went up into the city, every man straight ahead climbing over the rubble, and they overthrew the city. 21 Then ^athey utterly destroyed everything that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox and sheep and donkey, with the edge of the sword.

22 But Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, “^aGo into the prostitute’s house and bring the woman and all that she has out of there, as you have sworn to her.” 23 So the young men, the spies, went in and ^abrought out Rahab and her father and her mother and her brothers and everything that she had; they also brought out all her relatives and allowed them to stay outside the camp of Israel at Gilgal during the time required for ceremonial cleansing. Num 31:19 24 ^aThen they completely burned the city and everything that was in it. They put only the silver and the gold, and the articles of bronze and of iron, into the treasury of the house (tabernacle) of the LORD. 25 So Joshua spared ^aRahab the prostitute, with her father’s household and everything that she had; and she has lived among Israel to this day, because ^bshe hid the messengers (scouts) whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

26 Then Joshua made them take an oath at that time, saying, “^aCursed before the LORD is the man who rises up and rebuilds this city, Jericho; with the loss of his firstborn he shall lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son he shall set up its gates.” 1+@Kin 16:34 27 So ^athe LORD was with Joshua, and his ^bfame was in all the land.
