Y aconteció que en los días de Acaz, hijo de Jotam, hijo de Uzías, rey de Judá^a, subió Rezín, rey de Aram^b, con Peka, hijo de Remalías^c, rey de Israel, a Jerusalén para combatir contra ella, pero no pudieron tomarla^1d. 2 Y se dio aviso a la casa de David^a, diciendo: Los arameos han acampado en¹ Efraín^b. Y se estremeció el corazón del rey² y el corazón de su pueblo como se estremecen los árboles del bosque ante el viento^c.

3 Entonces el SEÑOR dijo a Isaías: Sal ahora al encuentro de Acaz, tú, y tu hijo Sear-jasub¹, al extremo del acueducto del estanque superior, en la calzada del campo del Batanero^2a, 4 y dile: «Estate alerta, y ten calma^a; no temas^b ni desmaye tu corazón^c ante estos dos cabos de tizones humeantes^d, a causa de la ira encendida de Rezín de Aram y del hijo de Remalías^e. 5 Porque Aram^a ha tramado mal contra ti, junto con Efraín y el hijo de Remalías, diciendo: 6 “Subamos contra Judá y aterroricémosla¹, hagamos una brecha en sus murallas² y pongamos por rey en medio de ella al hijo de Tabeel”. 7 Por tanto, así dice el Señor DIOS¹: “No prevalecerá ni se cumplirá^a. 8 Porque la cabeza de Aram es Damasco^a, y la cabeza de Damasco es Rezín (y dentro de otros sesenta y cinco años Efraín será destrozado, dejando de ser pueblo), 9 y la cabeza de Efraín es Samaria, y la cabeza de Samaria es el hijo de Remalías. Si no creéis, de cierto no permaneceréis^1a”».

10 El SEÑOR habló de nuevo a Acaz, diciendo: 11 Pide para ti una señal^a del SEÑOR tu Dios que sea tan profunda como el Seol¹ o tan alta² como el cielo³. 12 Pero Acaz respondió: No pediré, ni tentaré al SEÑOR. 13 Entonces Isaías dijo: Oíd ahora, casa de David^a: ¿Os parece poco cansar a los hombres^b, que también cansaréis a mi Dios^c? 14 Por tanto, el Señor mismo os dará una señal: He aquí, una virgen¹ concebirá y dará a luz un hijo, y le pondrá por nombre Emmanuel^2a. 15 Comerá cuajada y miel^a hasta que sepa lo suficiente¹ para desechar lo malo y escoger lo bueno. 16 Porque antes que el niño sepa desechar lo malo y escoger lo bueno^a, será abandonada la tierra cuyos dos reyes tú temes^b. 17 El SEÑOR hará venir sobre ti, sobre tu pueblo y sobre la casa de tu padre^a, días como nunca han venido desde el día en que Efraín se apartó de Judá, es decir, al rey de Asiria^b. 18 Y sucederá en aquel día que el SEÑOR silbará^a a la mosca que está en lo más remoto^b de los ríos¹ de Egipto, y a la abeja que está en la tierra de Asiria; 19 y todas ellas vendrán y se posarán en los precipicios de las barrancas¹, en las hendiduras de las peñas^a, en todos los espinos^b y en todos los abrevaderos².

20 En aquel día, con navaja^a alquilada^b en las regiones más allá del Eufrates¹, es decir, con el rey de Asiria^c, el Señor afeitará^d a Israel la cabeza y el pelo de las piernas, y también le quitará la barba.

21 En¹ aquel día cada uno criará una novilla y un par de ovejas^a; 22 y¹ por la abundancia de leche que darán, comerá cuajada, porque todo el que quede en² la tierra comerá cuajada y miel^a. 23 En¹ aquel día, en todo lugar donde había mil vides^a valoradas en mil siclos de plata, habrá zarzas y espinos^b. 24 Se irá allá con arcos y flechas, porque toda la tierra será zarzas y espinos. 25 Y en cuanto a todas las colinas que eran cultivadas con la azada, no irás allá por temor de las zarzas y espinos; se convertirán en lugar para soltar¹ los bueyes y para ser hollado por las ovejas^a.

Now it came about in the days of ^aAhaz, the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that ^bRezin the king of Aram and ^cPekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to wage war against it, but ^dcould not ¹conquer it. 2 When it was reported to the ^ahouse of David, saying, “The Arameans ^bhave taken a stand by ^cEphraim,” his heart and the hearts of his people shook as the trees of the forest shake from the wind.

3 Then the LORD said to Isaiah, “Go out now to meet Ahaz, you and your son ¹Shear-jashub, at the end of the ^aconduit of the upper pool, on the road to the ²fuller’s field, 4 and say to him, ‘Take care and be ^acalm, have no ^bfear and ^cdo not be fainthearted because of these two stumps of smoldering ^dlogs, on account of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and the ^eson of Remaliah. 5 Because ^aAram, with Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, has planned evil against you, saying, 6 “Let’s go up against Judah and ¹terrorize it, and take it for ourselves by assault and set up the son of Tabeel as king in the midst of it,” 7 this is what the Lord ¹GOD says: “^aIt shall not stand nor shall it come to pass. 8 For the head of Aram is ^aDamascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin (now within another sixty-five years Ephraim will be broken to pieces, so that it is no longer a people), 9 and the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah. ^aIf you will not believe, you certainly shall not ¹last.”’”

10 Then the LORD spoke again to Ahaz, saying, 11 “Ask for a ^asign for yourself from the LORD your God; ¹make it deep as Sheol or high as ²heaven.” 12 But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, nor will I put the LORD to the test!” 13 Then he said, “Listen now, ^ahouse of David! Is it too trivial a thing for you to ¹try the patience of men, that you will ^2btry the patience of ^cmy God as well? 14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, ^athe ¹virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and she will name Him ^2bImmanuel. 15 He will eat ^1acurds and honey ²at the time He knows enough to refuse evil and choose good. 16 ^aFor before the boy knows enough to refuse evil and choose good, ^bthe land whose two kings you dread will be abandoned.

17 The LORD will bring on you, on your people, and on your father’s house such days as have not come since the day that ^aEphraim separated from Judah—the days of the ^bking of Assyria.”

18 On that day the LORD will ^awhistle for the fly that is in the ^1bremotest part of the canals of Egypt and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria. 19 They will all come and settle on the steep ¹ravines, on the ^aledges of the cliffs, ^bon all the thorn bushes, and on all the watering places.

20 On that day the Lord will ^ashave with a ^brazor, ^chired from regions beyond ^dthe Euphrates River (that is, with the king of Assyria), the head and the hair of the legs; and it will also remove the beard.

21 Now on that day a person may keep alive only a ^aheifer and a pair of sheep; 22 and because of the abundance of the milk produced he will eat ¹curds, for everyone who is left within the land will eat ^2acurds and honey.

23 And it will come about on that day, ^athat every place where there used to be a thousand vines, valued at a thousand shekels of silver, will become ^bbriars and thorns. 24 People will come there with bows and arrows, because all the land will be briars and thorns. 25 As for all the hills which used to be cultivated with the plow, you will not go there for fear of briars and thorns; but they will become a place for ^1apasturing oxen and for sheep to trample.

Now it came to pass in the days of ^aAhaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that ^bRezin king of ¹Aram (Syria) and ^cPekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to wage war against it, but they ^dcould not conquer it. 2 When the ^ahouse of David (Judah) was told, “Aram ^bis allied with ^cEphraim (Israel) ,” the hearts of Ahaz and his people trembled as the trees of the forest tremble in the wind.

3 Then the LORD said to Isaiah, “Go out to meet Ahaz king of Judah, you and your son ¹Shear-jashub, at the end of the ^aaqueduct of the Upper Pool, on the highway to the ²Fuller’s Field; 4 and say to him, ‘Take care and be ^acalm, ^bdo not fear ^cand be weak-hearted because of these two stumps of smoldering ^dlogs, on account of the fierce anger of King Rezin and Aram and of the ^eson of Remaliah (Pekah, usurper of the throne of Israel) . 5 Because ^aAram, along with Ephraim (Israel) and the son of Remaliah, have planned evil against you (Judah) , saying, 6 “Let us go up against Judah and terrorize it; and let us breach its wall and tear it apart each of us taking a portion and set up the son of Tabeel over it as its puppet king,” 7 for this is what the Lord GOD says, “^aIt shall not stand nor shall it happen. 8 For the head (capital) of Aram is ^aDamascus and the head of Damascus is King Rezin (now within sixty-five years Ephraim will be broken to pieces and will no longer be a people). 9 And the head (capital) of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son King Pekah. ^aIf you will not ¹believe and trust in God and His message, be assured that you will not be established.”’”

10 Then the LORD spoke again to King Ahaz, saying, 11 “Ask a ^asign for yourself from the LORD your God one that will convince you that God has spoken and will keep His word; make your request as deep as Sheol or as high as heaven.” 12 But Ahaz said, “¹I will not ask, nor will I test the LORD!” 13 Then Isaiah said, “Hear then, O ^ahouse of David! Is it too small a thing for you to try the patience of men, but will you ^btry the patience of ^cmy God as well? 14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Listen carefully, the ^1avirgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and she will call his name ^bImmanuel (God with us) . Is 9:6; Jer 31:22; Mic 5:3-5; Matt 1:22, 23 15 He will eat ^acurds and honey when he knows enough to refuse evil and choose good. 16 For ^abefore the child will know enough to refuse evil and choose good, the ^bland (Canaan) whose two kings you dread will be deserted both Ephraim and Aram. Is 7:2

17 The LORD will bring on you, on your people, and on your father’s house such days as have not come since the day that ^aEphraim (the ten northern tribes) separated from Judah— He will call for the ^bking of Assyria.”

18 In that day the LORD will ^awhistle for the fly that is in the ^1bmouth of the rivers and canals of Egypt and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria. 19 These armies, like flies and bees will all come and settle on the steep and rugged ravines and in the ^aclefts of the rocks, and ^bon all the thorn bushes and in all the watering places.

20 In that day when foreign armies swarm the land the Lord will ^ashave with a ^brazor, ^chired from the regions beyond the ^dEuphrates (that is, with the king of Assyria), that razor will shave the head and the hair of the legs; and it will also remove the beard leaving Judah stripped, shamed and scorned. 2+@Kin 16:7, 8; 18:13-16

21 Now in that day because of the poverty caused by the invaders a man will keep alive only a ^ayoung milk cow and two sheep; 22 and because of the abundance of milk produced he will eat curds, for everyone that is left in the land will eat only ^acurds and wild honey.

23 And it will come to pass in that day, ^ain every place where there used to be a thousand vines, worth a thousand silver shekels, there will be ^bbriars and thorns. 24 People will come there to hunt with arrows and with bows because all the land will be briars and thorns. 25 As for all the hills which used to be cultivated with the pick and the hoe, you will no longer go there for fear of briars and thorns; but they will become a place where ^aoxen are pastured and where sheep tread.
