El día de la venganza divina

¿Quién eseste que viene de Edom^a,de Bosra^b con vestiduras de colores brillantes¹^c;este, majestuoso en su ropaje,que marcha² en la plenitud de su fuerza?Soy yo que hablo en justicia, poderoso para salvar^d.2 ¿Por qué es rojo tu ropaje,y tus vestiduras como las del que pisa en el lagar^a?3 El lagar lo he pisado yo solo^a;de los pueblos, ningún hombre estaba conmigo.Los pisé en mi ira^by los hollé en mi furor^c;su sangre¹ salpicó mis vestidurasy manché² todo mi ropaje^d.4 Porque el día de la venganza estaba en mi corazón,y el año de mi redención había llegado^a.5 Miré, y no había quien ayudara^a,me asombré de que no hubiera quien apoyara;entonces me salvó mi brazo^b,y fue mi furor el que me sostuvo.6 Pisoteé los pueblos en mi ira^a,los embriagué en mi furor^by derramé su sangre por tierra¹.

Recuento de las misericordias del SEÑOR

7 Las misericordias del SEÑOR recordaré^a, las alabanzas del SEÑOR,conforme a todo lo que nos ha otorgado el SEÑOR,y la gran bondad hacia la casa de Israel^b,que les ha otorgado conforme a su compasión,y conforme a la multitud de sus misericordias^c.8 Porque Él dijo: Ciertamente, ellos son mi pueblo^a,hijos que no engañarán.Y Él fue su Salvador^b.9 En todas sus angustias Él fue afligido¹^a,y el ángel de su presencia los salvó^b;en su amor^c y en su compasión los redimió^d,los levantó y los sostuvo todos los días de antaño^e.10 Mas ellos se rebelaron^ay contristaron su santo Espíritu^b;por lo cual Él se convirtió en su enemigoy peleó contra ellos.11 Entonces su pueblo se acordó de los días antiguos^a, de Moisés.¿Dónde está el que los sacó del mar^b con los pastores¹ de su rebaño?¿Dónde está el que puso su santo Espíritu en medio de ellos²^c,12 el que hizo que su glorioso brazo fuera a la diestra de Moisés^a,el que dividió las aguas delante de ellos para hacerse un nombre eterno^b,13 el que los condujo por los abismos?Como un caballo en el desierto, no tropezaron^a;14 como a ganado que desciende al valle,el Espíritu del SEÑOR les¹ dio descanso^a.Así guiaste a tu pueblo^b,para hacerte un nombre glorioso.

Plegaria por ayuda y misericordia

15 Mira desde el cielo^a, y ve desde tu santa y gloriosa morada^b;¿dónde está tu celo y tu poder^c?La conmoción de tus entrañas y tu compasión para conmigo se han restringido^d.16 Porque tú eres nuestro Padre^a, aunque Abraham^b no nos conoce,ni nos reconoce Israel.Tú, oh SEÑOR, eres nuestro Padre,desde la antigüedad tu nombre es Nuestro Redentor^c.17 ¿Por qué, oh SEÑOR, nos haces desviar de tus caminos^ay endureces nuestro corazón a tu temor^b?Vuélvete por amor de tus siervos, las tribus de tu heredad^c.18 Por breve tiempo poseyó tu santuario tu pueblo santo;nuestros adversarios lo han pisoteado^a.19 Hemos venido a ser como aquellos sobre los que nunca gobernaste,como aquellos que nunca fueron llamados por tu nombre.

Who is this who comes from ^aEdom,With ^bgarments of ¹glowing colors from ^cBozrah,This One who is majestic in His apparel,²Marching in the greatness of His strength?“It is I, the One who speaks in righteousness, ^dmighty to save.”2 Why is Your apparel red,And Your garments like one who ^atreads in the wine press?3 “^aI have trodden the wine trough alone,And from the peoples there was no one with Me.I also ^btrod them in My angerAnd ^ctrampled them in My wrath;And ^dtheir ¹lifeblood is sprinkled on My garments,And I ²stained all My clothes.4 “For the ^aday of vengeance was in My heart,And My year of redemption has come.5 “I looked, but there was ^ano one to help,And I was astonished and there was no one to uphold;So My ^bown arm brought salvation to Me,And My wrath upheld Me.6 “I ^atrampled down the peoples in My angerAnd made them ^bdrunk with My wrath,And I ¹poured out their lifeblood on the earth.”

God’s Ancient Mercies Recalled

7 I will make mention of the ^amercies of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD,According to all that the LORD has granted us,And the great ^bgoodness toward the house of Israel,Which He has granted them according to His ^ccompassionAnd according to the abundance of His mercies.8 For He said, “Certainly they are ^aMy people,Sons who will not deal falsely.”So He became their ^bSavior.9 In all their distress ¹^aHe was distressed,And the ^bangel of His presence saved them;In His ^clove and in His mercy He ^dredeemed them,And He ^elifted them and carried them all the days of old.10 But they ^arebelledAnd grieved His ^bHoly Spirit;Therefore He turned Himself to become their enemy,He fought against them.11 Then ^aHis people remembered the days of old, of Moses.Where is ^bHe who brought them up out of the sea with the ¹shepherds of His flock?Where is He who ^cput His Holy Spirit in the midst of ²them,12 Who caused His ^aglorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses,Who ^bdivided the waters before them to make for Himself an everlasting name,13 Who led them through the depths?Like the horse in the wilderness, they did not ^astumble;14 Like the cattle which go down into the valley,The Spirit of the ^aLORD gave ¹them rest.So You ^bled Your people,To make for Yourself a glorious name.

You Are Our Father

15 ^aLook down from heaven and see from Your holy and glorious ^blofty habitation;Where are Your ^czeal and Your mighty deeds?The ^dstirrings of Your heart and Your compassion are restrained toward me.16 For You are our ^aFather, though ^bAbraham does not know usAnd Israel does not recognize us.You, LORD, are our Father,Our ^cRedeemer from ancient times is Your name.17 Why, LORD, do You ^acause us to stray from Your waysAnd ^bharden our heart from fearing You?^cReturn for the sake of Your servants, the tribes of Your heritage.18 Your holy people possessed Your sanctuary for a little while,Our adversaries have ^atrampled it down.19 We have become like those over whom You have never ruled,Like those who were not called by Your name.

Who is this who comes from ^aEdom,With crimson-stained ^bgarments from ^cBozrah in Edom,This One (the Messiah) who is majestic in His apparel,Marching in the greatness of His might?“It is I, the One who speaks in righteousness proclaiming vindication, ^dmighty to save.”2 Why is Your apparel red,And Your garments like the one who ^atreads in the wine press?3 “^aI have trodden the wine trough alone,And of the peoples there was no one with Me.I also ^btrod them in My angerAnd ^ctrampled them in My wrath;And ^dtheir lifeblood is sprinkled on My garments,And I stained all My clothes.4 “For the ^aday of vengeance against ungodliness was in My heart,And My year of redemption of those who put their trust in Me—the year of My redeemed has come.5 “I looked, but there was ^ano one to help,And I was amazed and appalled that there was no one to uphold truth and right.So My ^bown arm brought salvation to Me,And My wrath sustained Me.6 “I ^atrampled the peoples in My angerAnd made them ^bdrunk with the cup of My wrath,And I spilled their lifeblood on the earth.”

God’s Ancient Mercies Recalled

7 I will tell of the ^alovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD,According to all that the LORD has done for us,And His great ^bgoodness toward the house of Israel,Which He has shown them according to His ^ccompassionAnd according to the abundance of His lovingkindnesses.8 For He said, “Be assured, they are ^aMy people,Sons who will not be faithless.”So He became their ^bSavior in all their distresses.9 In all their distress ^aHe was distressed,And the ¹^bangel of His presence saved them,In His ^clove and in His compassion He ^dredeemed them;And He ^elifted them up and carried them all the days of old. Ex 23:20-23; 33:14, 15; Deut 1:31; 32:10-1210 But they ^arebelledAnd grieved His ^bHoly Spirit;Therefore He changed into their enemy,And He fought against them.11 Then ^aHis people remembered the days of old, of Moses and they said,Where is ^bHe who brought our fathers up out of the Red Sea, with the shepherds of His flock Moses and Aaron?Where is He who ^cput His Holy Spirit in their midst,12 Who caused His ^aglorious arm and infinite power to go at the right hand of Moses,^bDividing the waters before them to make for Himself an everlasting name,13 Who led them through the depths of the Red Sea,Like a horse in the wilderness, so that they did not ^astumble?14 Like the cattle that go down into the valley to find better pasture and rest,The Spirit of the ^aLORD gave them rest.So You ^bled Your people O LORDTo make for Yourself a beautiful and glorious name preparing the way for the acknowledgment of Your name by all nations.

“You Are Our Father”

15 ^aLook down from heaven and see from ^bYour lofty dwelling place, holy and glorious.Where are Your ^czeal and Your mighty acts Your miracles which you did for Your people?The stirring of Your ^dheart and Your compassion are restrained and withheld from me.16 For most certainly You are our ^aFather, even though ^bAbraham our ancestor does not know usAnd Israel does not acknowledge us.You, O LORD, are still our Father,Our ^cRedeemer from everlasting is Your name.17 O LORD, why do You ^acause us to stray from Your waysAnd ^bharden our heart from fearing You with reverence and awe?^cReturn for Your servants’ sake, the tribes of Your heritage.18 Your holy people possessed Your sanctuary for only a little while;Our adversaries have ^atrampled it down.19 We have become like those over whom You have never ruled,Like those who were not called by Your name.
