Por tanto, dejando^a las enseñanzas elementales^1b acerca de Cristo², avancemos hacia la madurez^3c, no echando otra vez el fundamento del arrepentimiento de obras muertas^d y de la fe hacia Dios, 2 de la enseñanza sobre lavamientos^1a, de la imposición de manos^b, de la resurrección de los muertos^c y del juicio eterno^d. 3 Y esto haremos, si Dios lo permite^a. 4 Porque en el caso de los que fueron una vez iluminados^a, que probaron del don celestial^b y fueron hechos partícipes del Espíritu Santo^c, 5 que gustaron^a la buena palabra de Dios^b y los poderes del siglo venidero^c, 6 pero después cayeron, es imposible renovarlos otra vez^a para arrepentimiento, puesto que de nuevo crucifican para sí mismos al Hijo de Dios^b y le exponen a la ignominia pública. 7 Porque la tierra que bebe la lluvia que con frecuencia cae¹ sobre ella y produce vegetación útil a aquellos por los cuales es cultivada^a, recibe bendición de Dios; 8 pero si produce espinos y abrojos no vale nada, está próxima a ser maldecida^1a, y termina por ser quemada².

9 Pero en cuanto a vosotros, amados^a, aunque hablemos de esta manera, estamos persuadidos de las cosas que son mejores y que pertenecen a la salvación. 10 Porque Dios no es injusto^a como para olvidarse de vuestra obra y del amor^b que habéis mostrado hacia su nombre, habiendo servido, y sirviendo aún, a los santos^c. 11 Pero deseamos que cada uno de vosotros muestre la misma solicitud hasta el fin^a, para alcanzar la plena¹ seguridad^b de la esperanza, 12 a fin de que no seáis perezosos, sino imitadores^a de los que mediante la fe y la paciencia^b heredan las promesas^c.

13 Pues cuando Dios hizo la promesa a Abraham^a, no pudiendo jurar por uno mayor, juró por sí mismo^b, 14 diciendo: CIERTAMENTE TE BENDECIRÉ Y CIERTAMENTE TE MULTIPLICARE^a. 15 Y así, habiendo esperado con paciencia^a, obtuvo la promesa. 16 Porque los hombres juran por uno mayor que ellos mismos^a, y para ellos un juramento dado como confirmación es el fin de toda discusión^b. 17 Por lo cual¹ Dios, deseando mostrar más plenamente a los herederos de la promesa^a la inmutabilidad de su propósito^b, interpuso² un juramento, 18 a fin de que por dos cosas inmutables, en las cuales es imposible que Dios mienta^a, los que hemos buscado refugio seamos grandemente animados¹ para asirnos de la esperanza puesta delante de nosotros^b, 19 la cual tenemos como ancla del alma, una esperanza^a segura y firme, y que penetra hasta detrás¹ del velo^b, 20 donde Jesús entró por nosotros^a como precursor, hecho, según el orden de Melquisedec^b, Sumo Sacerdote para siempre.

Therefore ^aleaving ^bthe ¹elementary teaching about the ²Christ, let us press on to ^3cmaturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from ^ddead works and of faith toward God, 2 of ^ainstruction about ¹washings and ^blaying on of hands, and about the ^cresurrection of the dead and ^deternal judgment. 3 And this we will do, ^aif God permits. 4 For it is ^aimpossible, in the case of those who have once been ^benlightened and have tasted of ^cthe heavenly gift and have been made ^dpartakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and ^ahave tasted the good ^bword of God and the powers of ^cthe age to come, 6 and then have ¹fallen away, to ^arestore them again to repentance, ^2bsince they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. 7 For ground that drinks the rain which often ¹falls on it and produces vegetation useful to those ^afor whose sake it is also tilled, receives a blessing from God; 8 but if it yields thorns and thistles, it is worthless and ^1aclose to being cursed, and ²it ends up being burned.

9 But, ^abeloved, we are convinced of better things regarding you, and things that ¹accompany salvation, even though we are speaking in this way. 10 For ^aGod is not unjust so as to forget ^byour work and the love which you have shown toward His name, by having ^cserved and by still serving the ¹saints. 11 And we desire that each one of you demonstrate the same diligence ¹so as to realize the ^afull assurance of ^bhope until the end, 12 so that you will not be sluggish, but ^aimitators of those who through ^bfaith and endurance ^cinherit the promises.

13 For ^awhen God made the promise to Abraham, since He could swear an oath by no one greater, He ^bswore by Himself, 14 saying, “^aINDEED I WILL GREATLY BLESS YOU AND I WILL GREATLY MULTIPLY YOU.” 15 And so, ^ahaving patiently waited, he obtained the promise. 16 ^aFor people swear an oath by ¹one greater than themselves, and with them ^ban oath serving as confirmation is an end of every dispute. 17 ¹In the same way God, desiring even more to demonstrate to ^athe heirs of the promise ^2bthe fact that His purpose is unchangeable, ³confirmed it with an oath, 18 so that by two unchangeable things in which ^ait is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to hold firmly to ^bthe hope set before us. 19 ¹This ^ahope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and reliable and one which ^benters ²within the veil, 20 ^awhere Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a ^bhigh priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

Therefore let us ^aget past ^bthe elementary stage in the teachings about the Christ, advancing on to ^cmaturity and perfection and spiritual completeness, doing this without laying again a foundation of repentance from ^ddead works and of faith toward God, 2 of ^ateaching about washings (ritual purifications) , the ^blaying on of hands, the ^cresurrection of the dead, and ^deternal judgment. These are all important matters in which you should have been proficient long ago. 3 And we will do this that is, proceed to maturity, ^aif God permits. 4 For it is impossible to restore to repentance those who have once been ^aenlightened spiritually and who have ¹tasted and consciously experienced ^bthe heavenly gift and have ^cshared in the Holy Spirit, 5 and ^ahave tasted and consciously experienced the good ^bword of God and the powers of ^cthe age (world) to come, 6 ¹and then have fallen away—it is ^aimpossible to bring them back again to repentance, ^bsince they again nail the Son of God on the cross for as far as they are concerned, they are treating the death of Christ as if they were not saved by it, and are holding Him up again to public disgrace. 7 For soil that drinks the rain which often falls on it and produces crops useful to those ^afor whose benefit it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God; 8 but if it persistently produces thorns and thistles, it is worthless and ^aclose to being cursed, and it ends up being burned. Gen 3:17, 18

9 But, ^abeloved, even though we speak to you in this way, ¹we are convinced of better things concerning you, and of things that accompany salvation. 10 For ^aGod is not unjust so as to forget ^byour work and the love which you have shown for His name in ^cministering to the needs of the saints (God’s people) , as you do. 11 And we desire for each one of you to show the same diligence all the way through so as to realize and enjoy the ^afull assurance of ^bhope until the end, 12 so that you will not be spiritually sluggish, but will instead be ^aimitators of those who through ^bfaith lean on God with absolute trust and confidence in Him and in His power and by patient endurance even when suffering are now ^cinheriting the promises.

13 For ^awhen God made the promise to Abraham, He ^bswore an oath by Himself, since He had no one greater by whom to swear, 14 saying, “^aI WILL SURELY BLESS YOU AND I WILL SURELY MULTIPLY YOU.” Gen 22:16, 17 15 And so, ^ahaving patiently waited, he realized the promise in the miraculous birth of Isaac, as a pledge of what was to come from God. 16 Indeed ^amen swear an oath by ¹one greater than themselves, and with them in all disputes ^bthe oath serves as confirmation of what has been said and is an end of the dispute. 17 In the same way God, in His desire to show to ^athe heirs of the promise ^bthe unchangeable nature of His purpose, intervened and guaranteed it with an oath, 18 so that by two unchangeable things His promise and His oath in which ^ait is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to Him for refuge would have strong encouragement and indwelling strength to hold tightly to ^bthe hope set before us. 19 This ^ahope this confident assurance we have as an anchor of the soul it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whatever pressure bears upon it—a safe and steadfast hope that ^benters within the veil of the heavenly temple, that most Holy Place in which the very presence of God dwells, Lev 16:2 20 ^awhere Jesus has entered in advance as a forerunner for us, having become a ^bHigh Priest forever according to the order of ¹Melchizedek. Ps 110:4
