Y el SEÑOR dijo a Moisés: Lábrate dos tablas de piedra como las anteriores^a, y yo escribiré sobre las tablas las palabras que estaban en las primeras tablas que tú quebraste^b. 2 Prepárate, pues, para la mañana¹, y sube temprano al monte Sinaí^a, y allí preséntate a mí en la cumbre del monte. 3 Y que no suba nadie contigo, ni se vea a nadie en todo el monte; ni siquiera ovejas ni bueyes pasten delante de ese monte^a. 4 Moisés, pues, labró dos tablas de piedra como las anteriores^a, se levantó muy de mañana y subió al monte Sinaí, como el SEÑOR le había mandado, llevando en su mano las dos tablas de piedra. 5 Y el SEÑOR descendió en la nube y estuvo allí con él, mientraseste invocaba el nombre del SEÑOR^a. 6 Entonces pasó el SEÑOR por delante de él y proclamó: El SEÑOR, el SEÑOR, Dios compasivo y clemente, lento para la ira y abundante en misericordia y fidelidad^1a; 7 el que guarda misericordia a millares, el que perdona la iniquidad, la transgresión y el pecado, y que no tendrá por inocente al culpable^a; el que castiga la iniquidad de los padres sobre los hijos y sobre los hijos de los hijos hasta la tercera y cuarta generación^b. 8 Y Moisés se apresuró a inclinarse¹ a tierra y adoró^a, 9 y dijo: Si ahora, Señor, he hallado gracia ante tus ojos^a, vaya ahora el Señor en medio de nosotros, aunque el pueblo sea de dura cerviz^b; y perdona nuestra iniquidad y nuestro pecado^c, y tómanos por posesión¹ tuya^d.

10 Y Dios contestó: He aquí, voy a hacer un pacto^a. Delante de todo tu pueblo haré maravillas que no se han hecho¹ en toda la tierra^b ni en ninguna de las naciones; y todo el pueblo en medio del cual habitas² verá la obra del SEÑOR, porque es cosa temible la que haré por medio de ti. 11 Observa lo que te mando hoy: he aquí, yo echo de delante de ti al amorreo, al cananeo, al hitita, al ferezeo, al heveo y al jebuseo^a. 12 Cuídate de no hacer pacto con los habitantes de la tierra adonde vas, no sea que esto se convierta en tropezadero¹ en medio de ti^a; 13 sino que derribaréis sus altares y quebraréis sus pilares sagrados y cortaréis sus Aseras^1a 14 (pues no adorarás a ningún otro dios, ya que el SEÑOR, cuyo nombre es Celoso, es Dios celoso^a) 15 no sea que hagas pacto con los habitantes de aquella¹ tierra, y cuando se prostituyan con sus dioses y les² ofrezcan sacrificios^a, alguien te invite y comas de su sacrificio^b; 16 y tomes de sus hijas para tus hijos, y ellas¹ se prostituyan con sus dioses, y hagan que también tus hijos se prostituyan con los dioses de ellas^a. 17 No te harás dioses de fundición^a.

18 ^aGuardarás la fiesta de los panes sin levadura. Según te he mandado, por siete días comerás panes sin levadura^b en el tiempo señalado en el mes de Abib^c, porque en el mes de Abib saliste de Egipto^d. 19 Todo primer nacido¹ de matriz me pertenece, y de todo ganado tuyo, el primer nacido² de vaca y de oveja, que sea macho^a. 20 Redimirás con una oveja el primer nacido¹ de asno; y si no lo redimes, quebrarás su cerviz. Redimirás a todo primogénito de tus hijos^a; y nadie se presentará² ante mí con las manos vacías^b.

21 Seis días trabajarás, mas en el séptimo día descansarás^a; aun en el tiempo de arar y de segar, descansarás. 22 También celebrarás la fiesta de las semanas, es decir, los primeros frutos de la siega del trigo, y la fiesta de la cosecha al final del año^a. 23 Tres veces al año se presentarán todos tus varones delante de DIOS¹, el Señor, Dios de Israel^a. 24 Porque yo expulsaré¹ a las naciones de tu presencia y ensancharé tus fronteras^a, y nadie codiciará tu tierra cuando subas tres veces al año a presentarte delante del SEÑOR tu Dios.

25 No ofrecerás¹ la sangre de mi sacrificio con pan leudado, ni se dejará nada del sacrificio de la fiesta de la Pascua hasta la mañana^a. 26 Traerás a la casa del SEÑOR tu Dios las primicias de los primeros frutos de tu tierra. No cocerás el cabrito en la leche de su madre^a.

27 Entonces el SEÑOR dijo a Moisés: Escríbete estas palabras^a; porque conforme a estas palabras he hecho un pacto^b contigo y con Israel. 28 Y Moisés estuvo allí con el SEÑOR cuarenta días y cuarenta noches^a; no comió pan ni bebió agua. Y escribió en las tablas^b las palabras del pacto, los diez mandamientos^1c.

29 Y aconteció que cuando Moisés descendía del monte Sinaí con las dos tablas del testimonio en su mano, al descender del monte^a, Moisés no sabía que la piel de su rostro resplandecía^b por haber hablado con Dios¹. 30 Y al ver Aarón y todos los hijos de Israel a Moisés, he aquí, la piel de su rostro resplandecía^a; y tuvieron temor de acercarse a él. 31 Entonces Moisés los llamó, y Aarón y todos los jefes de la congregación volvieron a él; y Moisés les habló. 32 Y después se acercaron todos los hijos de Israel, y él les mandó que hicieran todo lo que el SEÑOR había hablado con él en el monte Sinaí. 33 Cuando Moisés acabó de hablar con ellos, puso un velo sobre su rostro^a. 34 Pero siempre que Moisés entraba a la presencia del SEÑOR para hablar con Él, se quitaba el velo hasta que salía^a; y siempre que salía y decía¹ a los hijos de Israel lo que se le había mandado, 35 los hijos de Israel veían que la piel del rostro de Moisés resplandecía. Y Moisés volvía a ponerse el velo sobre su rostro^a hasta que entraba a hablar con Dios¹.

Now the LORD said to Moses, “Cut out for yourself ^atwo stone tablets like the former ones, and ^bI will write on the tablets the words that were on the former tablets which you smashed. 2 So be ready by morning, and come up in the morning to ^aMount Sinai, and ¹present yourself there to Me on the top of the mountain. 3 And ^ano one is to come up with you, nor let anyone be seen ¹anywhere on the mountain; even the flocks and the herds are not to graze in front of that mountain.” 4 So he cut out ^atwo stone tablets like the former ones, and Moses got up early in the morning and went up to Mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and he took the two stone tablets in his hand. 5 And ^athe LORD descended in the cloud and stood there with him as he ¹called upon the name of the LORD. 6 Then the LORD passed by in front of him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD God, ^acompassionate and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in faithfulness and ¹truth; 7 who ^akeeps faithfulness for thousands, who forgives wrongdoing, violation of His Law, and sin; yet He ^bwill by no means leave the guilty unpunished, ^cinflicting the ¹punishment of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.” 8 And Moses hurried ^1ato bow low toward the ground and worship. 9 Then he said, “^aIf in any way I have found favor in Your sight, Lord, please may the Lord go along in our midst, even though ^1bthe people are so obstinate, and ^cpardon our wrongdoing and our sin, and ^dtake us as Your own ²possession.”

10 Then ¹God said, “Behold, ^aI am going to make a covenant. Before all your people ^bI will perform miracles which have not been ²produced in all the earth nor among any of the nations; and all the people ³among whom you live will see the working of the LORD, for it is a fearful thing that I am going to perform with you.

11 “¹Be sure to comply with what I am commanding you this day: behold, ^aI am going to drive out the Amorite from you, and the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite. 12 ^aBe careful that you do not make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land into which you are going, or it will become a snare in your midst. 13 ^aBut rather, you are to tear down their altars and smash their memorial stones, and cut down their ^1bAsherim 14 —for ^ayou shall not worship any other god, because the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God— 15 otherwise you might make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they would prostitute themselves with their gods and ^asacrifice to their gods, and someone ^bmight invite you ¹to eat of his sacrifice, 16 and ^ayou might take some of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters might prostitute themselves with their gods and cause your sons also to prostitute themselves with their gods. 17 ^aYou shall not make for yourself any gods cast in metal.

18 “You shall keep ^athe Feast of Unleavened Bread. For ^bseven days you are to eat unleavened bread, ¹as I commanded you, at the appointed time in the ^cmonth of Abib; for in the month of Abib you came out of Egypt.

19 “^aThe ¹firstborn from every womb belongs to Me, and all your male livestock, the ²firstborn from ³cattle and sheep. 20 ^aYou shall redeem with a lamb the firstborn from a donkey; and if you do not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. You shall redeem ^ball the firstborn of your sons. ^1cNone are to appear before Me empty-handed.

21 “You shall work ^asix days, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during plowing time and harvest you shall rest. 22 And you shall celebrate ^athe Feast of Weeks, that is, the first fruits of the wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering at the turn of the year. 23 ^aThree times a year all your males are to appear before the Lord ¹GOD, the God of Israel. 24 For I will ^1adrive out nations from you and enlarge your borders, and no one will covet your land when you go up three times a year to appear before the LORD your God.

25 “^aYou shall not ¹offer the blood of My sacrifice with leavened bread, ^bnor is the sacrifice of the Feast of the Passover to ²be left over until morning.

26 “You shall bring ^athe very first of the first fruits of your soil into the house of the LORD your God.“You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.”

27 Then the LORD said to Moses, “^aWrite ¹down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made ^ba covenant with you and with Israel.” 28 So he was there with the LORD for ^aforty days and forty nights; he did not eat bread or drink water. And ^1bHe wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, ^cthe Ten ²Commandments.

29 And it came about, when Moses was coming down from Mount Sinai (and the ^atwo tablets of the testimony were in Moses’ hand as he was coming down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that ^bthe skin of his face shone because of his speaking with Him. 30 So when Aaron and all the sons of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and ^athey were afraid to approach him. 31 Then Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the rulers in the congregation returned to him; and Moses spoke to them. 32 Afterward all the sons of Israel came near, and he commanded them to do everything that the LORD had spoken ¹to him on Mount Sinai. 33 When Moses had finished speaking with them, ^ahe put a veil over his face. 34 But whenever Moses went in before the LORD to speak with Him, ^ahe would take off the veil until he came out; and whenever he came out and spoke to the sons of Israel what he had been commanded, 35 ^athe sons of Israel would see the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face shone. So Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with Him.

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Cut ^atwo tablets of stone like the first, and ^bI will write on these tablets the words that were on the first tablets which you smashed when you learned of Israel’s idolatry. 2 So be ready by morning, and come up in the morning to ^aMount Sinai, and present yourself there to Me on the top of the mountain. 3 ^aNo man is to come up with you, nor let any man be seen anywhere on the mountain; nor let flocks or herds feed in front of that mountain.” 4 So Moses cut ^atwo tablets of stone like the first ones, and he got up early in the morning and went up on Mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took ¹the two tablets of stone in his hand. 5 ^aThen the LORD descended in the cloud and stood there with Moses as he proclaimed the Name of the LORD. 6 Then the LORD passed by in front of him, and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD God, ^acompassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth (faithfulness) ; 7 ^akeeping mercy and lovingkindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin; but He ^bwill by no means leave the guilty unpunished, ^cvisiting (avenging) the iniquity (sin, guilt) of the fathers upon the children and the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations that is, calling the children to account for the sins of their fathers.” 8 Moses ^abowed to the earth immediately and worshiped the Lord. 9 And he said, “^aIf now I have found favor and lovingkindness in Your sight, O Lord, let the Lord, please, go in our midst, though it is a ^bstiff-necked (stubborn, rebellious) people, and ^cpardon our iniquity and our sin, and ^dtake us as Your possession.”

10 Then God said, “Behold, ^aI am going to make a covenant. Before all your people ^bI will do wondrous works (miracles) such as have not been created or produced in all the earth nor among any of the nations; and all the people among whom you live shall see the working of the LORD, for it is a fearful and awesome thing that I am going to do with you.

11 “Be sure to observe what I am commanding you this day: behold, ^aI am going to drive out the Amorite before you, and the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite. 12 ^aWatch yourself so that you do not make a covenant (solemn agreement, treaty) with the inhabitants of the land into which you are going, or it will become a dangerous trap among you. 13 ^aBut you shall tear down and destroy their pagan altars, smash in pieces their sacred pillars (obelisks, images) and cut down their ^1bAsherim 14 —for ^ayou shall not worship any other god; for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous (impassioned) God demanding what is rightfully and uniquely His— 15 otherwise you might make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land and they would play the prostitute with their gods and ^asacrifice to their gods, and someone ^bmight invite you ¹to eat his sacrifice (meal) , 16 and ^ayou might take some of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters would play the prostitute with their gods and cause your sons also to play the prostitute (commit apostasy) with their gods that is, abandon the true God for man-made idols. 17 ^aYou shall make for yourselves no molten gods.

18 “^aYou shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread (Passover) . ^bFor seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I have commanded you, at the appointed time in the ^cmonth of Abib; for in the month of Abib you came out of Egypt.

19 “^aAll the firstborn males among your livestock belong to Me, whether cattle or sheep. 20 ^aYou shall redeem the firstborn of a donkey with a lamb; but if you do not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. ^bYou shall redeem all the firstborn of your sons. ^cNone of you are to appear before Me empty-handed.

21 “^aYou shall work for six days, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even in plowing time and in harvest you shall rest on the Sabbath. 22 You shall observe and celebrate ^athe Feast of Weeks (Harvest, First Fruits, or Pentecost) , the first fruits of the wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering (Booths or Tabernacles) at the year’s end. 23 ^aThree times a year all your males shall appear before the Lord ¹GOD, the God of Israel. 24 For I will ^adrive out and dispossess nations before you and enlarge your borders; nor shall any man covet (actively seek for himself) your land when you go up to appear before the LORD your God three times a year.

25 “^aYou shall not offer the blood of My sacrifice with leavened bread, ^bnor shall the sacrifice of the Feast of the Passover (Unleavened Bread) be left over until morning.

26 “^aYou shall bring the very first of the first fruits of your ground to the house of the LORD your God.“You shall not ¹boil a young goat in his mother’s milk as some pagans do.”

27 Then the LORD said to Moses, “^aWrite these words, for in accordance with these words I have made ^ba covenant with you and with Israel.” 28 Moses was there with the LORD ^aforty days and forty nights; he ate no bread and drank no water. And ^bHe wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, ^cthe Ten Commandments.

29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the ^atwo tablets of the Testimony in his hand, he did not know that ^bthe skin of his face was shining with a unique radiance because he had been speaking with God. 30 When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and ^athey were afraid to approach him. 31 But Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the leaders of the congregation returned to him; and he spoke to them. 32 Afterward all the Israelites approached him, and he commanded them to do everything that the LORD had said to him on Mount Sinai. 33 When Moses had finished speaking with them, ^ahe put a veil over his face. 34 But whenever Moses went in before the LORD to speak with Him, ^1ahe would take off the veil until he came out. When he came out and he told the Israelites what he had been commanded by God, 35 ^athe Israelites would see the face of Moses, how his skin shone with a unique radiance. So Moses put the veil on his face again until he went in to speak with God.
