^aVolvió David a reunir a todos los hombres escogidos de Israel, treinta mil. 2 Y David se levantó y fue con todo el pueblo que estaba con él a¹ Baala² de Judá, para hacer subir desde allí el arca de Dios^a, la cual es llamada por el Nombre^b, el nombre del SEÑOR de los ejércitos, que está³ sobre los querubines^c. 3 Pusieron¹ el arca de Dios sobre un carro nuevo^a, para que la pudieran llevar de la casa de Abinadab que estaba en la colina. Uza y Ahío, hijos de Abinadab, guiaban el carro nuevo. 4 Y lo llevaron con el arca de Dios de la casa de Abinadab que estaba en la colina, y Ahío iba delante del arca^a. 5 David y toda la casa de Israel se regocijaban delante del SEÑOR con toda clase de instrumentos hechos de madera de abeto¹, y con liras, arpas, panderos^a, castañuelas y címbalos^b.

6 Pero cuando llegaron a la era de Nacón^a, Uza extendió la mano hacia el arca de Dios, y la sostuvo^b porque los bueyes casi la volcaron. 7 Y se encendió la ira del SEÑOR contra Uza, y Dios lo hirió allí por su¹ irreverencia; y allí murió junto al arca de Dios^a. 8 Entonces David se enojó porque el SEÑOR había estallado en ira¹ contra Uza, y llamó aquel lugar Pérez-uza² hasta el día de hoy. 9 David tuvo temor del SEÑOR^a aquel día, y dijo: ¿Cómo podrá venir a mí el arca del SEÑOR? 10 Y David no quiso trasladar el arca del SEÑOR con él a la ciudad de David, sino que¹ la hizo llevar² a la casa de Obed-edom geteo^a. 11 Por tres meses permaneció el arca del SEÑOR en la casa de Obed-edom geteo; y bendijo el SEÑOR a Obed-edom y a toda su casa^a.

12 Y se dio aviso al rey David, diciéndole: El SEÑOR ha bendecido la casa de Obed-edom y todo lo que le pertenece a causa del arca de Dios. Entonces David fue, y con alegría hizo subir el arca de Dios de la casa de Obed-edom^a a la ciudad de David^b. 13 Y sucedió que cuando los portadores del arca del SEÑOR^a habían andado seis pasos, él sacrificó un buey^b y un carnero cebado. 14 David danzaba con toda su fuerza delante del SEÑOR^a, y estaba vestido¹ con un efod de lino^b. 15 David y toda la casa de Israel hacían subir el arca del SEÑOR con aclamación y sonido de trompeta. 16 Sucedió que cuando el arca del SEÑOR entraba a la ciudad de David, Mical^a, hija de Saúl, miró desde la ventana y vio al rey David saltando y danzando delante del SEÑOR, y lo menospreció en su corazón. 17 Metieron el arca del SEÑOR y la colocaron en su lugar dentro de la tienda que David había levantado para ella^a, y David ofreció holocaustos y ofrendas de paz delante del SEÑOR^b. 18 Cuando David terminó de ofrecer el holocausto y las ofrendas de paz, bendijo al pueblo en el nombre del SEÑOR de los ejércitos^a. 19 Después repartió a todo el pueblo, a toda la multitud de Israel, tanto a hombres como a mujeres, una torta de pan, una de dátiles y una de pasas a cada uno. Entonces todo el pueblo se fue, cada uno a su casa.

20 Pero al regresar David para bendecir su casa, Mical, hija de Saúl, salió al encuentro de David, y le dijo: ¡Cómo se ha distinguido hoy el rey de Israel! Se descubrió hoy ante los ojos de las criadas de sus siervos, como se descubriría sin decoro un insensato^a. 21 Y David dijo a Mical: Eso fue delante del SEÑOR que me escogió en preferencia a tu padre y a toda su casa para constituirme por príncipe sobre el pueblo del SEÑOR^a, sobre Israel. Por tanto, lo celebraré delante del SEÑOR. 22 Y aún seré menos estimado que esto, y seré humillado ante mis propios ojos, pero con las criadas de quienes has hablado, ante ellas seré honrado. 23 Y Mical, hija de Saúl, no tuvo hijos hasta el día de su muerte.

^aNow David again gathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand. 2 And David ¹departed from ^2aBaale-judah, with all the people who were with him, to bring up from there the ark of God which is called by the ^bName, the very name of the LORD of armies who ^cis ³enthroned above the cherubim. 3 They had mounted the ark of God on ^aa new cart and moved it from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill; and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, were leading the new cart. 4 So ^athey brought it with the ark of God from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill; and Ahio was walking ahead of the ark. 5 Meanwhile, David and all the house of Israel ^awere celebrating before the LORD ^bwith all kinds of instruments made of juniper wood, and with ¹lyres, harps, tambourines, castanets, and cymbals.

6 But when they came to the ^athreshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah ^breached out toward the ark of God and took hold of it, because the oxen nearly overturned it. 7 And the anger of the LORD burned against Uzzah, and ^aGod struck him down there for ¹his irreverence; and he died there by the ark of God. 8 Then David became angry because ¹of the LORD’S outburst against Uzzah; and that place has been called ²Perez-uzzah to this day. 9 So ^aDavid was afraid of the LORD that day; and he said, “How can the ark of the LORD come to me?” 10 And David was unwilling to move the ark of the LORD into the city of David with him; but David took it aside to the house of ^aObed-edom, the Gittite. 11 The ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite for three months, and the LORD ^ablessed Obed-edom and all his household.

12 Now it was reported to King David, saying, “The LORD has blessed the house of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him, on account of the ark of God.” ^aSo David went and brought the ark of God up from the house of Obed-edom to ^bthe city of David with joy. 13 And so it was, that ¹when ^athose carrying the ark of the LORD marched six paces, he sacrificed an ^box and a fattened steer. 14 And ^aDavid was dancing before the LORD with all his strength, and David was ^bwearing a linen ephod. 15 So David and all the house of Israel were bringing up the ark of the LORD with joyful shouting and the sound of the trumpet.

16 Then it happened, as the ark of the LORD was coming into the city of David, that ^aMichal the daughter of Saul looked down through the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she was contemptuous of him in her heart.

17 Now they brought in the ark of the LORD and set it ^ain its place inside the tent which David had pitched for it; and ^bDavid offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD. 18 When David had finished offering the burnt offering and the peace offerings, ^ahe blessed the people in the name of the LORD of armies. 19 Further, he distributed to all the people, to all the multitude of Israel, both to men and women, a cake of bread, one of dates, and one of raisins to each one. Then all the people left, each to his house.

20 But when David returned to bless his own household, Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David and said, “How the king of Israel dignified himself today! For ^ahe exposed himself today in the sight of his servants’ female slaves, as one of the ^brabble shamelessly exposes himself!” 21 But David said to Michal, “^aI was before the LORD, who preferred me to your father and to all his house, to appoint me as ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel. So I will ¹celebrate before the LORD! 22 And I might demean myself even more than this and be lowly in my own sight, but with the female slaves of whom you have spoken, with them I am to be held in honor!” 23 And Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to the day of her death.

^aAgain David gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand. 2 And David arose and went with all those who were with him to ^aBaale-judah Kiriath-jearim, to bring up from there to Jerusalem the ark of God which is called by the ^bName—the very Name of the LORD of hosts, who ^cdwells enthroned above the cherubim. 3 They placed the ark of God on ^1aa new cart and brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill; and Uzzah and Ahio, sons of Abinadab, were leading the new cart. 4 So ^athey brought it with the ark of God from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill; and Ahio was walking in front of the ark. 1+@Sam 7:2 5 Meanwhile, David and all the house of Israel were celebrating and ^adancing before the LORD ^bwith all kinds of instruments made of fir or cypress wood, with lyres, harps, tambourines, castanets, and cymbals.

6 When they came to Nacon’s ^athreshing floor, Uzzah ^breached out with his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, because the oxen stumbled and nearly overturned it. 7 And ¹the anger of the LORD burned against Uzzah, and ^aGod struck him there for his irreverence; and he died there by the ark of God. 8 David became ¹angry and grieved and offended because of the LORD’S outburst against Uzzah, and that place has been called Perez-uzzah (outburst against Uzzah) to this day. 9 ^aSo David was afraid of the LORD that day; and he said, “How can the ark of the LORD come to me?” 10 David was unwilling to move the ark of the LORD into the City of David with him; instead he took it aside to the house of ^aObed-edom the Gittite. 11 So the ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite for three months, and the LORD ^ablessed Obed-edom and all his household (family) .

12 Now King David was told, “The LORD has blessed the house of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God.” So ^aDavid went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom into ^bthe City of David with rejoicing and gladness. 13 And when those ^awho were carrying the ark of the LORD by its poles had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ^box and a fatling. 14 And ^aDavid was dancing before the LORD with ¹great enthusiasm, and David was ^2bwearing a linen ephod a priest’s upper garment. 15 So David and all the house of Israel were bringing the ark of the LORD up to the City of David with shouts of joy and with the sound of the trumpet.

16 Then, as the ark of the LORD came into the City of David, ^1aMichal, Saul’s daughter David’s wife, looked down from the window above and saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she felt contempt for him in her heart because she thought him undignified.

17 They brought in the ark of the LORD and set it ^ain its place inside the tent which David had pitched for it; and ^bDavid offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD. 18 When David had finished offering the burnt offerings and peace offerings, ^ahe blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts (armies) , 19 and distributed to all the people, the entire multitude of Israel, both to men and women, to each a ring-shaped loaf of bread, a cake of dates, and a cake of raisins. Then all the people departed, each to his house.

20 Then David returned to bless his household. But his wife Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David and said, “How glorious and distinguished was the king of Israel today, ^1awho uncovered himself and stripped off his kingly robes in the eyes of his servants’ maids like one of the ^briffraff who shamelessly uncovers himself!” 21 So David said to Michal, “^aIt was before the LORD that I did this, who chose me above your father and all his house, to appoint me as ruler over Israel, the people of the LORD. Therefore I will celebrate in pure enjoyment before the LORD. 22 Yet I will demean myself even more than this, and will be humbled (abased) in my own sight and yours, as I please, but by the maids whom you mentioned, by them I shall be held in honor.” 23 Michal the daughter of Saul had no ¹child to the day of her death.
