En cuanto a lo sacrificado a los ídolos^a, sabemos que todos tenemos conocimiento^b. El conocimiento envanece^1c, pero el amor edifica^d. 2 Si alguno cree que sabe algo^a, no ha aprendido todavía como lo debe saber^b; 3 pero si alguno ama a Dios,ese es conocido por Él^a. 4 Por tanto, en cuanto a comer de lo sacrificado a los ídolos^a, sabemos que un ídolo no es nada^1b en el mundo, y que no hay sino un solo Dios^c. 5 Porque aunque haya algunos llamados dioses^a, ya sea en el cielo o en la tierra, como por cierto hay muchos dioses y muchos señores, 6 sin embargo, para nosotros hay un solo Dios^a, el Padre^b, de quien proceden¹ todas las cosas^c y nosotros somos para Él; y un Señor, Jesucristo^d, por quien son todas las cosas^e y por medio del cual existimos nosotros.

7 Sin embargo, no todos tienen este conocimiento^a; sino que algunos, estando acostumbrados al ídolo hasta ahora, comen alimento como sieste fuera sacrificado a un ídolo; y su conciencia, siendo débil, se mancha^b. 8 Pero la comida no nos recomendará a¹ Dios, pues ni somos menos² si no comemos, ni somos más³ si comemos^a. 9 Mas tened cuidado, no sea que esta vuestra libertad¹ de alguna manera se convierta en piedra de tropiezo^a para el débil^b. 10 Porque si alguno te ve a ti, que tienes conocimiento^a, sentado¹ a la mesa en un templo de ídolos, ¿no será estimulada su conciencia, si él es débil, a comer lo sacrificado a los ídolos^b? 11 Y por tu conocimiento^a se perderá el que es débil, el hermano por quien Cristo murió^b. 12 Y así, al pecar contra los hermanos y herir su conciencia^a cuandoesta es débil, pecáis contra Cristo^b. 13 Por consiguiente, si la comida hace que mi hermano tropiece, no comeré carne jamás, para no hacer tropezar a mi hermano^a.

Now concerning ^afood sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have ^bknowledge. Knowledge ^1cmakes one conceited, but love ^dedifies people. 2 ^aIf anyone thinks that he knows anything, he has not yet ^bknown as he ought to know; 3 but if anyone loves God, he ^ais known by Him.

4 Therefore, concerning the eating of ^afood sacrificed to idols, we know that an ^bidol is ¹nothing at all in the world, and that ^cthere is no God but one. 5 For even if ^athere are so-called gods whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many gods and many lords, 6 yet for us ^athere is only one God, ^bthe Father, ^cfrom whom are all things, and we exist for Him; and ^done Lord, Jesus Christ, ^eby whom are all things, and we exist through Him.

7 However, not all people ^ahave this knowledge; but ^bsome, being accustomed to the idol until now, eat food as if it were sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled. 8 Now ^afood will not bring us ¹close to God; we are neither ²the worse if we do not eat, nor ³the better if we do eat. 9 But ^atake care that this ¹freedom of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the ^bweak. 10 For if someone sees you, the one who has ^aknowledge, dining in an idol’s temple, will his conscience, if he is weak, not be strengthened to eat ^bthings sacrificed to idols? 11 For through ^ayour knowledge the one who is weak ^bis ruined, the brother or sister for whose sake Christ died. 12 ^aAnd so, by sinning against the brothers and sisters and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin ^bagainst Christ. 13 Therefore, ^aif food causes my brother to sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause my brother to sin.

Now about ^afood sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have ^bknowledge concerning this. Knowledge alone ^cmakes people self-righteously arrogant, but love that unselfishly seeks the best for others ^dbuilds up and encourages others to grow in wisdom. 2 ^aIf anyone imagines that he knows and understands anything of divine matters, without love, he has not yet ^bknown as he ought to know. 3 But if anyone loves God with awe-filled reverence, obedience and gratitude, he ^ais known by Him as His very own and is greatly loved.

4 In this matter, then, of eating ^afood offered to idols, we know that ^ban idol is nothing in the world it has no real existence, and that ^cthere is no God but one. Deut 6:4 5 For even if ^athere are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many gods and many lords, 6 yet for us ^athere is but one God, ^bthe Father, ^1cwho is the source of all things, and we exist for Him; and ^done Lord, Jesus Christ, ^eby whom are all things that have been created, and we believers exist and have life and have been redeemed through Him. Mal 2:10

7 However, not all believers ^ahave this knowledge. But ^bsome, being accustomed throughout their lives to thinking of the idol until now as real and living, still eat food ¹as if it were sacrificed to an idol; and because their conscience is weak, it is defiled (guilty, ashamed) . 8 Now ^afood will not commend us to God nor bring us close to Him; we are no worse off if we do not eat, nor are we better if we do eat. 9 Only ^abe careful that this liberty of yours this power to choose does not somehow become a stumbling block that is, a temptation to sin to the ^bweak in conscience. 10 For if someone sees you, a person having ^1aknowledge, ²eating in an idol’s temple, then if he is weak, will he not be encouraged to eat ^bthings sacrificed to idols and violate his own convictions? 11 For through ^ayour knowledge (spiritual maturity) this weak man ^bis ruined that is, he suffers in his spiritual life, the brother for whom Christ died. 12 ^aAnd when you sin against the brothers and sisters in this way and wound their weak conscience by confusing them, you sin ^bagainst Christ. 13 Therefore, ^aif my eating a certain food causes my brother to stumble (sin) , I will not eat such meat ever again, so that I will not cause my brother to stumble.
