Y estos son los que vinieron a David en Siclag, mientras aún se ocultaba¹ por causa de Saúl, hijo de Cis. Eran de los hombres valientes que le ayudaron en la guerra^a. 2 Estaban armados con arcos, y usaban tanto la mano derecha como la izquierda para lanzar piedras y tirar flechas con el arco^a. Eran parientes¹ de Saúl^b de Benjamín. 3 El jefe era Ahiezer, después Joás, hijos de Semaa guibeatita; Jeziel y Pelet, hijos de Azmavet; Beraca y Jehú anatotita; 4 Ismaías gabaonita, hombre valiente entre los treinta, y jefe de¹ los treinta. ²Después Jeremías, Jahaziel, Johanán, Jozabad gederatita, 5 ¹Eluzai, Jerimot, Bealías, Semarías, Sefatías harufita, 6 Elcana, Isías, Azareel, Joezer, Jasobeam, coreítas, 7 y Joela y Zebadías, hijos de Jeroham de Gedor.

8 También de los de Gad se pasaron a¹ David en la fortaleza en el desierto, hombres fuertes y valientes, entrenados para la guerra, diestros con el escudo y la lanza, cuyos rostros eran como rostros de leones, y eran tan ligeros como las gacelas sobre los montes^a. 9 Ezer fue el primero, Obadías el segundo, Eliab el tercero, 10 Mismana el cuarto, Jeremías el quinto, 11 Atai el sexto, Eliel el séptimo, 12 Johanán el octavo, Elzabad el noveno, 13 Jeremías el décimo, Macbanai el undécimo. 14 De los hijos de Gad,estos fueron capitanes¹ del ejército; el menor valía por cien y el mayor por mil^a. 15 Estos son los que cruzaron el Jordán en el primer mes, cuando inundaba todas sus riberas, y pusieron en fuga a todos los de los valles, tanto al oriente como al occidente^a.

16 Entonces vinieron algunos de los hijos de Benjamín y Judá a David a la fortaleza. 17 Y salió David a su encuentro, y les habló, diciendo¹: Si venís a mí en paz para ayudarme, mi corazón se unirá con vosotros; pero si venís para entregarme a mis enemigos, ya que no hay maldad² en mis manos³, que el Dios de nuestros padres lo vea y decida. 18 Entonces el Espíritu vino sobre^1a Amasai^b, jefe de los treinta, el cual dijo:Tuyos somos, oh David,y contigo estamos, hijo de Isaí.Paz, paz a ti^c,y paz al que te ayuda;ciertamente tu Dios te ayuda.Entonces David los recibió y los hizo capitanes² del grupo.

19 Algunos de Manasés se pasaron también a David, cuandoeste iba con los filisteos a la batalla contra Saúl^a. Peroestos no les ayudaron, porque los príncipes de los filisteos, después de tomar consejo, lo despidieron, diciendo: A costa de¹ nuestras cabezas se pasará a su señor Saúl. 20 Y cuando él iba a Siclag, se pasaron a él de Manasés: Adnas, Jozabad, Jediaiel, Micael, Jozabad, Eliú y Ziletai, capitanes¹ de miles que eran de Manasés. 21 Ellos ayudaron a David contra la banda de merodeadores^a, pues todos eran hombres fuertes y valientes, y fueron capitanes en el ejército. 22 Porque día tras día se pasaban hombres a David para ayudarlo, hasta que hubo un gran ejército¹, como un ejército² de Dios^a.

23 Y estos son los números de los escuadrones¹ equipados para la guerra, que vinieron a David en Hebrón^a para transferirle el reino de Saúl^b, conforme a la palabra² del SEÑOR^c: 24 Los hijos de Judá que llevaban escudo y lanza eran seis mil ochocientos, equipados para la guerra. 25 De los hijos de Simeón, hombres fuertes y valientes para la guerra, siete mil cien. 26 De los hijos de Leví, cuatro mil seiscientos. 27 Y Joiada, príncipe de la casa de Aarón, y con él tres mil setecientos; 28 también Sadoc^a, joven fuerte y valiente, y de la casa de su padre veintidós capitanes. 29 De los hijos de Benjamín, parientes de Saúl^a, tres mil; porque hasta entonces la mayor parte de ellos habían permanecido fieles a la casa de Saúl^b. 30 De los hijos de Efraín, veinte mil ochocientos, hombres fuertes y valientes, famosos en sus casas paternas. 31 De la media tribu de Manasés, dieciocho mil, que por nombre fueron designados para venir y hacer rey a David. 32 De los hijos de Isacar, expertos en discernir los tiempos^a, con conocimiento de lo que Israel debía hacer, sus jefes eran doscientos; y todos sus parientes estaban bajo sus órdenes. 33 De Zabulón había cincuenta mil que salieron con el ejército, que podían ponerse en orden de batalla con toda clase de armas de guerra y que ayudaron a David sin doblez de corazón^a. 34 De Neftalí había mil capitanes, y con ellos treinta y siete mil con escudo y lanza. 35 De los de Dan que podían ponerse en orden de batalla, había veintiocho mil seiscientos. 36 De Aser había cuarenta mil que salieron con el ejército para ponerse en orden de batalla. 37 Y del otro lado del Jordán de los rubenitas y gaditas y de la media tribu de Manasés, había ciento veinte mil con toda clase de armas de guerra para la batalla.

38 Todosestos, hombres de guerra, que podían ponerse en orden de batalla, vinieron con corazón perfecto a Hebrón, para hacer rey a David sobre todo Israel; también todos los demás de Israel eran de un mismo parecer para hacer rey a David^a. 39 Y estuvieron allí con David tres días, comiendo y bebiendo, porque sus parientes habían hecho provisión para ellos. 40 También, los que estaban cerca de ellos, y hasta Isacar, Zabulón y Neftalí, trajeron víveres en asnos, camellos, mulos y bueyes; grandes cantidades de tortas de harina, tortas de higos y racimos de uvas pasas, vino, aceite, bueyes y ovejas^a. Verdaderamente había alegría en Israel.

8 From the Gadites valiant mighty men went over to David at the stronghold in the wilderness, men trained for war who could handle a large shield and spear, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and ^athey were as swift as the gazelles on the mountains. 9 Ezer was the first, Obadiah the second, Eliab the third, 10 Mishmannah the fourth, Jeremiah the fifth, 11 Attai the sixth, Eliel the seventh, 12 Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth, 13 Jeremiah the tenth, and Machbannai, the eleventh. 14 These men from the sons of Gad were ¹captains of the army; ^athe one who was least was equal to a hundred, and the greatest, to a thousand. 15 ^aThese are the ones who crossed the Jordan in the first month, when it was overflowing all its banks, and they put to flight all those in the valleys, to the east and to the west.

16 Then some of the sons of Benjamin and Judah came to the stronghold to David. 17 David went out to meet them, and said to them, “If you come peacefully to help me, my heart shall be united with you; but if to betray me to my enemies, since there is no ¹wrong in my hands, may the God of our fathers look on it and decide.” 18 Then ^athe Spirit ¹covered ^bAmasai like clothing, the chief of the thirty; and he said,“We are yours, David,And are with you, son of Jesse!^cPeace, peace to you,And peace to him who helps you;Indeed, your God helps you!”Then David received them and made them ²captains of the troops.

19 ^aFrom Manasseh some also defected to David when he was about to go to battle with the Philistines against Saul. But they did not help them, because the governors of the Philistines sent him away after consultation, saying, “At the cost of our heads he might defect to his master Saul.” 20 As he was going to Ziklag, men from Manasseh defected to him: Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, and Zillethai, ¹captains of thousands who belonged to Manasseh. 21 They helped David against ^athe band of raiders, for they were all valiant mighty men, and were captains in the army. 22 For day by day men came to David to help him, until there was a great army ^alike the army of God.

23 Now these are the numbers of the ¹divisions equipped for war, ^awho came to David at Hebron, ^bto turn the kingdom of Saul to him, ^caccording to the ²word of the LORD. 24 The sons of Judah who carried shield and spear numbered 6,800, equipped for war. 25 From the sons of Simeon, valiant mighty men of war, 7,100. 26 From the sons of Levi, 4,600. 27 Now Jehoiada was the leader of the house of Aaron, and with him were 3,700, 28 also ^aZadok, a young valiant mighty man, and from his father’s house, twenty-two captains. 29 From the sons of Benjamin, ^aSaul’s kinsmen, three thousand; for until now ^bthe majority of them had kept their allegiance to the house of Saul. 30 From the sons of Ephraim 20,800, valiant mighty men, famous men in their fathers’ households. 31 From the half-tribe of Manasseh eighteen thousand, who were designated by name to come and make David king. 32 From the sons of Issachar, ^amen who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their kinsmen were at their command. 33 From Zebulun, there were fifty thousand who went out in the army, who could draw up in battle formation with all kinds of weapons of war and helped David ¹with ^aan undivided heart. 34 From Naphtali there were a thousand captains, and with them thirty-seven thousand with shield and spear. 35 From the Danites who could draw up in battle formation, there were 28,600. 36 From Asher there were forty thousand who went out in the army to draw up in battle formation. 37 From the other side of the Jordan, from the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, there were 120,000 with all kinds of weapons of war for the battle.

38 All of these, being men of war who helped in battle formation, came to Hebron with ^aa perfect heart to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest of Israel also were of one mind to make David king. 39 They were there with David for three days, eating and drinking, for their kinsmen had prepared for them. 40 Moreover, those who were near to them, as far as Issachar, Zebulun, and Naphtali, ^abrought food on donkeys, camels, mules, and on oxen, great quantities of flour cakes, fig cakes and bunches of raisins, wine, oil, oxen, and sheep. There was joy indeed in Israel.

16 Then some of the ¹men of Benjamin and Judah came to the stronghold to David. 17 David went out to meet them and said to them, “If you have come peacefully to me to help me, my heart shall be united with you; but if you have come to betray me to my adversaries, since there is no violence or wrong in my hands, may the God of our fathers look on what you are doing and punish you.” 18 Then ^athe Holy Spirit came on ^bAmasai, who was chief of the thirty, and he said,“We are yours, O David,And with you, O son of Jesse!^cPeace, peace be to you,And peace be to him who helps you;For your God helps you.”Then David accepted and received them and made them officers of his troops.

19 Some of the men ^aof Manasseh also defected to David when he came with the Philistines to go to battle against Saul. But David’s men did not actually assist the Philistines, for the lords (governors) of the Philistines after consultation sent him away, saying, “At the cost of our heads he may defect to his master Saul.” 1+@Sam 29:2-9 20 As David went to Ziklag, these men defected to him from Manasseh: Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, and Zillethai, captains of thousands who belonged to Manasseh. 21 They helped David against ^athe band of raiders, for they were all courageous men, and all seven became commanders in his army. 22 For day by day men kept coming to David to help him, until there was a great army, ^alike the army of God.

23 These are the numbers of the armed units equipped for war ^awho came to David at Hebron ^bto turn over the kingdom of Saul to him, ^cin accordance with the word of the LORD. 24 Those of the tribe of Judah who carried shield and spear were 6,800, armed for war; 25 of the tribe of Simeon, brave warriors, 7,100; 26 of the tribe of Levi, 4,600. 27 Jehoiada was the leader of the house of Aaron, and with him were 3,700, 28 and ^aZadok, a courageous young man, and twenty-two captains from his father’s house. 29 Of the tribe of Benjamin, the relatives of King ^aSaul, 3,000; for until now ^bthe majority of them had kept their allegiance to the house of Saul. 30 Of the tribe of Ephraim, 20,800, courageous men, famous in their fathers’ houses. 31 Of the half-tribe of Manasseh, 18,000, who were designated by name to come and make David king. 32 Of the tribe of Issachar, ^amen who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do, two hundred chiefs; and all their relatives were at their command; 33 of the tribe of Zebulun, there were 50,000 in military service who could draw up in battle formation with all kinds of weapons of war and helped David, men with ^1aan undivided heart. 34 Of the tribe of Naphtali, there were 1,000 captains, and with them 37,000 of the rank and file armed with shield and spear. 35 Of the tribe of Dan, 28,600 men who could draw up in battle formation. 36 Of the tribe of Asher, 40,000 men in military service, able to draw up in battle formation. 37 From the other side east of the Jordan River, of the tribes of Reuben and Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh, 120,000 men, armed with all kinds of weapons of war for the battle.

38 All these, being men of war arrayed in battle formation, came to Hebron with ^aa perfect (committed) heart to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest of Israel were also of one mind to make David king. 39 They were there with David for three days, eating and drinking, for their relatives had prepared for them. 40 Also those who were living near them from as far as the tribes of Issachar, Zebulun, and Naphtali, ^abrought food on donkeys, camels, mules, and oxen, abundant supplies of flour, cakes of figs and raisins, wine, olive oil, oxen, and sheep, for there was joy in Israel.
