¡Cómo nubló, en su irael Señor a la hija de Sión^a!Ha arrojado del cielo a la tierra^bla gloria de Israel^c,y no se ha acordado del estrado de sus pies^den el día de su ira.2 El Señor ha devorado, no ha perdonado^aninguna de las moradas de Jacob.Ha derribado en su furorlas fortalezas de la hija de Judá^b,las ha echado por tierra^c;ha profanado al reino y a sus príncipes^d.3 Ha exterminado en el ardor de su iratodas las fuerzas¹^a de Israel;ha echado atrás su diestraen presencia del enemigo^b;y se ha encendido en Jacob como llamas de fuegodevorando todo en derredor^c.4 Ha entesado su arco^a como enemigo,ha afirmado su diestra como adversarioy ha matado todo lo que era agradable a la vista^b;en la tienda de la hija de Siónha derramado su furor como fuego^c.5 Se ha vuelto el Señor como enemigo^a:ha devorado a Israel,ha devorado todos sus palacios,ha destruido sus fortalezasy ha multiplicado en la hija de Judá^bel lamento y el duelo^c.6 Y ha tratado con violencia a su tabernáculo¹, como a cabaña de huerto;ha destruido su lugar de reunión²^a.El SEÑOR ha hecho olvidar en Siónla fiesta solemne y el día de reposo^b,y ha rechazado en el furor de su iraal rey y al sacerdote^c.7 El SEÑOR ha rechazado su altar,ha despreciado su santuario;ha entregado en manos del enemigo^alos muros de sus palacios^b.Gritos se han dado en la casa del SEÑOR^ccomo en día de fiesta solemne.8 El SEÑOR determinó¹ destruirla muralla de la hija de Sión;ha extendido el cordel,no ha retraído su mano de destruir²,y ha hecho que se lamenten el antemuro y el muro^a;a una desfallecen^b.9 Se han hundido en la tierra sus puertas^a,Él ha destruido y quebrado sus cerrojos.Su rey y sus príncipes están entre las naciones;ya no hay ley^b;tampoco sus profetas hallanvisión del SEÑOR^c.10 En tierra están sentados^a, en silencio^b,los ancianos de la hija de Sión.Han echado polvo sobre sus cabezas^c,se han ceñido de cilicio^d.Han inclinado a tierra sus cabezaslas vírgenes de Jerusalén^e.11 Mis ojos se consumen por las lágrimas,hierven mis entrañas^a;mi hiel¹ se derrama por tierra^b,a causa de la destrucción² de la hija de mi pueblo^c,cuando niños y lactantes desfallecenen las calles de la ciudad^d.12 Dicen a sus madres:¿Dónde hay grano y vino?,mientras desfallecen como heridosen las plazas de la ciudad^a,mientras exhalan su espírituen el regazo de sus madres^b.13 ¿Cómo he de amonestarte^a?¿A qué te compararé,hija de Jerusalén?¿A qué te igualaré al consolarte,virgen hija de Sión^b?Porque grande como el mar es tu ruina¹,¿quién te podrá sanar^c?14 Tus profetas tuvieron para tivisiones falsas y necias^a,y no manifestaron tu iniquidad^bpara que regresaras de¹ tu cautiverio,sino que vieron para ti oráculos falsos y engañosos²^c.15 Baten palmas contra titodos los que pasan por el camino;silban^a y mueven sus cabezascontra la hija de Jerusalén, diciendo:¿Esesta la ciudad de la cual decían^b:«La perfección de la hermosura^c,el gozo de toda la tierra^d»?16 Han abierto contra ti su bocatodos tus enemigos^a;silban y rechinan los dientes^b,dicen: La hemos devorado^c.Ciertamente este es el día que esperábamos^d;lo hemos alcanzado, lo hemos visto.17 El SEÑOR ha hecho lo que se propuso^a,ha cumplido su palabraque había ordenado desde tiempos¹ antiguos;ha derribado sin perdonar^b,ha hecho que se alegre el enemigo sobre ti^c,ha exaltado el poder² de tus adversarios^d.18 Su corazón clamó al Señor^a:Muralla de la hija de Sión^b,corran tus lágrimas como un río día y noche,no te des reposo,no tengan descanso tus ojos¹^c.19 Levántate, da voces en la nocheal comenzar las vigilias^a;derrama como agua tu corazónante la presencia del Señor^b;alza hacia Él tus manos¹por la vida de tus pequeños,que desfallecen de hambre^cen las esquinas de todas las calles^d.20 Mira, oh SEÑOR, y observa:¿a quién has tratado así^a?¿Habían de comer las mujeres el fruto de sus entrañas^b,a los pequeños criados con cariño?¿Habían de ser muertos en el santuario del Señorel sacerdote y el profeta^c?21 Yacen por tierra en las callesjóvenes y viejos;mis vírgenes y mis manceboshan caído a espada^a.Has matado en el día de tu ira,has hecho matanza, no has perdonado^b.22 Como en día de fiesta solemne convocastemis terrores de todas partes^a;y no hubo en el día de la ira del SEÑORquien escapara^b ni sobreviviera^c.A los que crié¹ y mantuve,mi enemigo los exterminó.

How the Lord has ¹^acovered the daughter of ZionWith a cloud in His anger!He has ^bhurledThe ^cglory of Israel from heaven to earth,And has not remembered His ^dfootstoolIn the day of His anger.2 The Lord has ¹^adestroyed; He has not sparedAll the settlements of Jacob.In His wrath He has ^boverthrownThe strongholds of the daughter of Judah,He has ^churled them down to the ground;He has ^dprofaned the kingdom and its leaders.3 In fierce anger He has cut off¹All the ^astrength of Israel;He has ^bpulled back His right handFrom the enemy.And He has ^cburned in Jacob like a flaming fireConsuming on all sides.4 He has bent His ^abow like an enemy;His right hand is positioned like an adversary,And He has killed everything that was ^bpleasant to the eye.In the tent of the daughter of ZionHe has ^cpoured out His wrath like fire.5 The Lord has become like an ^aenemy.He has ^bengulfed Israel;He has engulfed all its ^cpalaces,He has destroyed its strongholdsAnd ^dcaused great mourning and grieving in the daughter of Judah.6 And He has treated His ¹tabernacle violently, like a despised garden;He has ^adestroyed His appointed ²meeting place.The LORD has ^bcausedThe appointed feast and Sabbath in Zion to be forgotten,And He has ^cdespised king and priestIn the indignation of His anger.7 The Lord has ^arejected His altar,He has ¹repudiated His sanctuary;He ^bhas handed overThe walls of her palaces to the enemy.They have made a ^cnoise in the house of the LORDAs on the day of an appointed feast.8 The LORD determined to destroyThe wall of the daughter of Zion.He has ^astretched out a line,He has not restrained His hand from ¹destroying,And He has ^bcaused rampart and wall to mourn;They have languished together.9 Her ^agates have sunk into the ground,He has destroyed and broken her bars.Her king and her leaders are among the nations;The ^bLaw is gone.Her prophets, too, find^cNo vision from the LORD.10 The elders of the daughter of Zion^aSit on the ground and ¹^bare silent.They have thrown ^cdust on their heads;They have put on ^dsackcloth.The ^evirgins of JerusalemHave bowed their heads to the ground.11 My ^aeyes fail because of tears,My ¹^bspirit is greatly troubled;My ²^cheart is poured out on the earth^dBecause of the ³destruction of the daughter of my people,When ^elittle ones and infants languishIn the streets of the city.12 They say to their mothers,“^aWhere is grain and wine?”As they faint like a wounded personIn the streets of the city,As their ^blives are poured out¹In their mothers’ arms.13 How shall I admonish you?What ^ashall I compare to you,Daughter of Jerusalem?What shall I liken to you as I comfort you,^bVirgin daughter of Zion?For your collapse is as vast as the sea;Who can ^cheal you?14 Your ^aprophets have seen for youWorthless and deceptive visions;And they have not ^bexposed your wrongdoingSo as to restore you from captivity,But they have ^cseen for you worthless and misleading pronouncements.15 All who pass along the way^aClap their hands in ridicule at you;They ^b¹hiss and shake their headsAt the daughter of Jerusalem:“Is this the city of which they said,‘^cPerfect in beauty,^dA joy to all the earth’?”16 All ^ayour enemiesHave opened their mouths wide against you;They ¹hiss and ^bgnash their teeth.They say, “We have ^cengulfed her!This certainly is the ^dday which we awaited;We have reached it, we have seen it!”17 The LORD has ^adone what He determined;He has accomplished His wordWhich He commanded from days of old.He has torn down ^bwithout sparing,And He has helped the enemy to ^crejoice over you;He has ^dexalted the ¹might of your adversaries.18 Their ^aheart cried out to the Lord:“You ^bwall of the daughter of Zion,Let your ^ctears stream down like a river day and night;Give yourself no relief,Let ¹your eyes have no rest.19 “Arise, whimper in the ^anightAt the beginning of the night watches;^bPour out your heart like waterBefore the presence of the Lord;Raise your hands to HimFor the ^clife of your little onesWho ^dlanguish because of hungerAt the head of every street.20 “See, LORD, and look!With ^awhom have You dealt this way?Should women really ^beat their ¹children,The little ones who were ²born healthy?Should ^cpriest and prophet really be killedIn the sanctuary of the Lord?21 “On the ground in the streetsLie ^ayoung and old;My ^bvirgins and my young menHave fallen by the sword.You have put them to death on the day of Your anger,You have slaughtered, ^cwithout sparing.22 “You called as on the day of an appointed feastMy ^aterrors on every side;And there was ^bno one who survived or escapedOn the day of the LORD’S anger.As for those ^cwhom I brought forth healthy and whom I raised,My enemy annihilated them.”

How the Lord has ^acovered the Daughter of Zion (Jerusalem)With a cloud in His anger!He has ^bcast down from heaven to the earthThe ^cglory and splendor of IsraelAnd has not remembered His ^dfootstoolIn the day of His anger.2 The Lord has ^aswallowed up; He has not sparedAll the country places of Jacob.In His wrath He has ^bthrown downThe strongholds of the Daughter of Judah (Jerusalem) .He has ^cbrought them down to the ground in disgrace;He has ^ddebased the kingdom and its princes.3 In fierce anger He has cut off and destroyedEvery ¹^ahorn of Israel.He has ^bwithdrawn His right handFrom the presence of the enemy.And He has ^cburned in Jacob like a flaming fireConsuming all around.4 He has bent His ^abow like an enemy;He has set His right hand like an adversaryAnd slain all that were ^bdelightful and pleasing to the eye;In the tent of the Daughter of ZionHe has ^cpoured out His wrath like fire.5 The Lord has become like an ^aenemy;He has ^bswallowed up Israel.He has swallowed up all its ^cpalaces;He has destroyed its strongholdsAnd ^dmultiplied in the Daughter of JudahMourning and lamentation (expressions of grief) .6 And He has violently broken down His temple like a fragile garden hedge;He has ^adestroyed His appointed meeting place.The LORD has ^bcaused the appointed feast and SabbathTo be forgotten in ZionAnd has ^cdespised and rejected the king and the priestIn the indignation of His anger.7 The Lord has ^arejected His altar;He has abandoned His sanctuary.He ^bhas given into the hand of the enemyThe walls of her palaces;They have made a ^cnoise in the house of the LORDAs on a day of an appointed feast.8 The LORD determined to lay in ruinsThe city wall of the Daughter of Zion.He has ^astretched out a line,He has not stopped His hand from destroying.He ^bhas caused the rampart and the wall to lament (mourn in grief) ;They have languished together.9 Her ^agates have sunk into the ground;He has destroyed and broken her bars.Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations;The ^blaw is no more.Also, her prophets no longer find^cVision from the LORD.10 The elders of the Daughter of Zion^aSit on the ground ^bkeeping silent;They have thrown ^cdust on their heads,They have covered themselves with ^dsackcloth.The ^evirgins of JerusalemHave bowed their heads to the ground.11 My ^aeyes fail because of tears mourns Jeremiah,My ^bspirit is deeply disturbed;My ^cheart is poured out on the earth in grief^dBecause of the destruction of the daughter of my people Jerusalem,When ^elittle ones and infants faintIn the streets of the city.12 They cry to their mothers,“^aWhere is grain and wine?”As they faint like a wounded manIn the streets of the city,As their ^blife slips away and is poured outIn their mothers’ arms.13 How shall I console you?To what ^ashall I compare you,O Daughter of Jerusalem?With what shall I compare you, so that I may comfort you,O ^bVirgin Daughter of Zion?For your ruin is as vast as the sea;Who can ^cheal you? Lam 1:12; Dan 9:1214 Your ^aprophets have seen (imagined) for youFalse and foolish visions;And they have not ^bexposed your wickednessTo restore you from captivity by teaching you to repent,But they have ^cseen (imagined) and declared to you false and misleading oracles.15 All who pass along the way^aClap their hands in derision at you;They ^bscoff and shake their headsAt the Daughter of Jerusalem, saying,“Is this the city that was called‘^cThe perfection of beauty,The ^djoy of all the earth’?”16 All ^ayour enemiesHave opened their mouths wide against you;They scornfully hiss and ^bgnash their teeth.They say, “We have ^cswallowed her up!Certainly this is the ^dday for which we waited;We have reached it, we have seen it!”17 The LORD has ^adone what He planned;He has accomplished His wordWhich He commanded ¹from days of old.He has demolished ^bwithout sparing,And He has caused the enemy to ^crejoice over you;He has ^dexalted the power of your enemies.
