Llama ahora, ¿habrá quién te responda?¿Y a cuál de los santos^a te volverás?2 Porque el enojo mata al insensato,y la ira da muerte al necio^a.3 Yo he visto al insensato echar raíces^a,y al instante maldije su morada^b.4 Sus hijos no tienen seguridad alguna^a,aun en la puerta son oprimidos¹,y no hay quien los libre.5 Su¹ cosecha devoran los hambrientos,la toman aun de entre los espinos,y el intrigante²^a ansía su riqueza.6 Porque la aflicción^a no viene del polvo,ni brota el infortunio de la tierra;7 porque el hombre nace para la aflicción^a,como las chispas vuelan hacia arriba.

8 Pero yo buscaría a Dios,y delante de Dios presentaría mi causa^a;9 Él hace cosas grandes e inescrutables,maravillas¹ sin número^a.10 Él da la lluvia sobre la faz de la tierra,y envía las aguas sobre¹ los campos^a.11 Para poner en alto a los humildes,y a los que lloran levantarlos a lugar seguro^a,12 Él frustra las tramas de los astutos^a,para que sus manos no tengan éxito.13 Él prende a los sabios en su propia astucia^a,y el consejo de los sagaces pronto se frustra.14 De día tropiezan con las tinieblas,y a mediodía andan a tientas como de noche^a.15 Pero Él salva al pobre de la espada, de sus bocas^ay de la mano del poderoso^b.16 El desamparado, pues, tiene esperanza,y la injusticia tiene que cerrar su boca^a.

17 He aquí, cuán bienaventurado es el hombre a quien Dios reprende^a;no desprecies, pues, la disciplina del Todopoderoso¹^b.18 Porque Él inflige dolor, pero da alivio¹;Él hiere, pero sus manos también sanan^a.19 De¹ seis aflicciones te librará^a,y en siete no te tocará el mal^b.20 En el hambre te salvará de la muerte^a,y en la guerra del poder de la espada^b.21 Estarás a cubierto del azote de la lengua^a,y no temerás la violencia cuando venga^b.22 De la violencia y del hambre te reirás^a,y no temerás a las fieras de la tierra^b.23 Pues con las piedras del campo harás tu alianza,y las fieras del campo estarán en paz contigo^a.24 Y sabrás que tu tienda está segura¹,porque visitarás tu morada y no temerás pérdida alguna^a.25 También sabrás que tu descendencia¹ será numerosa^a,y tus vástagos como la hierba de la tierra^b.26 En pleno vigor llegarás al sepulcro^a,como se hacinan las gavillas a su tiempo.27 He aquí, esto lo hemos examinado, y así es;óyelo, y conócelo para tu bien¹.

God Is Just

“Call now, is there anyone who will answer you?And to which of the ^aholy ones will you turn?2 “For ^airritation kills the fool,And jealousy brings death to the simple.3 “I have seen the ^afool taking root,And I ^bcursed his home immediately.4 “His ^asons are far from safety,They are also ¹oppressed at the gate,And there is no one to save them.5 “¹The hungry devour his harvestAnd take it to a place of thorns,And the ²^aschemer is eager for their wealth.6 “For ^adisaster does not come from the dust,Nor does trouble sprout from the ground,7 For ^aman is born for trouble,As sparks fly upward.

8 “But as for me, I would ^aseek God,And I would make my plea before God,9 Who ^adoes great and unsearchable things,¹Wonders without number.10 “He ^agives rain on the earth,And sends water on the fields,11 So that ^aHe sets on high those who are lowly,And those who mourn are lifted to safety.12 “He ^afrustrates the schemes of the shrewd,So that their hands cannot attain success.13 “He ^acaptures the wise by their own cleverness,And the advice of the cunning is quickly thwarted.14 “By day they ^ameet with darkness,And grope at noon as in the night.15 “But He saves from ^athe sword of their mouth,And ^bthe poor from the hand of the strong.16 “So the helpless has hope,And ^ainjustice has shut its mouth.

17 “Behold, ^ahappy is the person whom God disciplines,So do not reject the ^bdiscipline of ¹the Almighty.18 “For ^aHe inflicts pain, and ¹gives relief;He wounds, but His hands also heal.19 “In six troubles ^aHe will save you;Even in seven, ^bevil will not touch you.20 “In ^afamine He will redeem you from death,And ^bin war, from the power of the sword.21 “You will be ^ahidden ¹from the scourge of the tongue,^bAnd you will not be afraid of violence when it comes.22 “You will ^alaugh at violence and hunger,^bAnd you will not be afraid of ¹wild animals.23 “For you will be in league with the stones of the field,And ^athe animals of the field will be at peace with you.24 “You will know that your ^atent is secure,For you will visit your home and ¹have nothing missing.25 “You will also know that your ¹^adescendants will be many,And ^byour offspring as the grass of the earth.26 “You will ^acome to the grave at a ripe age,Like the stacking of grain in its season.27 “Behold this; we have investigated it, and so it is.Hear it, and know for yourself.”

“Call now—is there anyone who will answer you?And to which of the ^aholy ones (angels) will you turn?2 “For ^aanger slays the foolish man,And jealousy kills the simple (naive) .3 “I have seen the ^afoolish taking root and outwardly prospering,But I ^bcursed his dwelling immediately for his destruction was certain.4 “His ^achildren are far from safety and included in their father’s ruin,They are oppressed and crushed in the court of justice in the city’s gate,And there is no ¹one to rescue them.5 “The hungry devour his harvestAnd take it even when it grows among the thorns;The ^atrap opens for his wealth.6 “For ^aaffliction does not come forth from the dust,Nor does trouble spring forth from the ground.7 “For ^aman is born for trouble,As naturally as sparks fly upward.

8 “As for me, I would ^aseek God and inquire of Him,And I would commit my cause to God;9 Who ^adoes great and unsearchable things,Marvelous things without number.10 “He ^agives rain upon the earthAnd sends waters upon the fields,11 So that ^aHe sets on high those who are lowly,And He lifts to safety those who mourn.12 “He ^afrustrates the devices and schemes of the crafty,So that their hands cannot attain success or achieve anything of lasting worth.13 “He ^acatches the so-called wise in their own shrewdness,And the advice of the devious is quickly thwarted. 1+@Cor 3:19, 2014 “In the daytime they ^ameet in darkness,And at noon they grope as in the night.15 “But God saves the innocent from ^athe sword of the mouth of the devious,And ^bthe poor from the hand of the mighty.16 “So the helpless have hope,And ^ainjustice shuts its mouth.

17 “^aBehold, how happy and fortunate is the man whom God reproves,So do not despise or reject the ^bdiscipline of the Almighty subjecting you to trial and suffering.18 “For ^aHe inflicts pain, but He binds up and gives relief;He wounds, but His hands also heal.19 “^aHe will rescue you from six troubles;Even in seven, ^bevil will not touch you.20 “In ^afamine He will redeem you from death,And ^bin war from the power of the sword.21 “You will be ^ahidden from the scourge of the tongue,^bAnd you will not be afraid of destruction when it comes.22 “You will ^alaugh at violence and famine,^bAnd you will not be afraid of the wild beasts of the earth.23 “For you will be in harmony with the stones of the field,And ^athe beasts of the field will be at peace with you.24 “You will know also that your ^atent is secure and at peace,And you will visit your dwelling and fear no loss nor find anything amiss.25 “You will know also that your ^adescendants will be many,And ^byour offspring as the grass of the earth.26 “You will ^acome to your grave in old age,Like the stacking of grain on the threshing floor in its season.27 “Behold this; we have investigated it, and it is true.Hear and heed it, and know for yourself for your own good.”
