Y el rey y Amán fueron al banquete a beber vino con la reina Ester. 2 También el segundo día, mientras bebían vino en el banquete¹, el rey dijo a Ester: ¿Cuál es tu petición, reina Ester? Te será concedida. ¿Cuál es tu deseo? Hasta la mitad del reino se te dará^2a. 3 Respondió la reina Ester, y dijo: Si he hallado gracia ante tus ojos, oh rey, y si le place al rey^a, que me sea concedida la vida según mi petición, y la de mi pueblo según mi deseo; 4 porque hemos sido vendidos, yo y mi pueblo, para el exterminio^a, para la matanza y para la destrucción^b. Y sisolo hubiéramos sido vendidos como esclavos o esclavas, hubiera permanecido callada, porque el mal no se podría comparar con el disgusto¹ del rey. 5 Entonces el rey Asuero preguntó a¹ la reina Ester: ¿Quién es, y dónde está el que pretende² hacer tal cosa? 6 Y Ester respondió: ¡El adversario y enemigo es este malvado Amán^a! Entonces Amán se sobrecogió de terror delante del rey y de la reina. 7 Y dejando de beber vino¹, el rey se levantó lleno de furor^a y salió al jardín del palacio^b; pero Amán se quedó para rogar por su vida a la reina Ester, porque vio que el mal había sido determinado contra él por el rey. 8 Cuando el rey volvió del jardín del palacio al lugar donde estaban bebiendo vino¹, Amán se había dejado caer sobre el lecho^a donde se hallaba Ester. Entonces el rey dijo: ¿Aún se atreve a hacer violencia a la reina estando yo en la casa? Al salir la palabra de la boca del rey, cubrieron el rostro a Amán. 9 Entonces Harbona, uno de los eunucos que estaban delante del rey, dijo: He aquí precisamente, la horca¹ de cincuenta codos² de alto está en la casa de Amán, la cual había preparado Amán para Mardoqueo^a, quien había hablado bien en favor del rey^b. Y el rey dijo: Ahorcadlo en ella. 10 Colgaron, pues, a Amán en la horca¹ que había preparado para Mardoqueo^a, y se aplacó el furor del rey^b.

Now the king and Haman came to drink wine with Esther the queen. 2 And the king said to Esther on the second day also ¹as they drank their wine at the banquet, “^aWhat is your request, Queen Esther? It shall be granted you. And what is your wish? ^bUp to half of the kingdom it shall be done.” 3 Then Queen Esther replied, “^aIf I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it pleases the king, let my life be given me as my request, and my people as my wish; 4 for ^awe have been sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, ^bkilled, and eliminated. Now if we had only been sold as slaves, men and women, I would have kept silent, because the distress would not be sufficient reason to burden the king.” 5 Then King Ahasuerus ¹asked Queen Esther, “Who is he, and where is he, ²who would presume to do such a thing?” 6 And Esther said, “^aA foe and an enemy is this wicked Haman!” Then Haman became terrified before the king and queen.

7 The king then got up ^ain his anger from ¹drinking wine and went into ^bthe palace garden; but Haman stayed to beg for his life from Queen Esther, for he saw that harm had been determined against him by the king. 8 Now when the king returned from the palace garden into the ¹place where they had been drinking wine, Haman was falling on ^athe couch where Esther was. Then the king said, “Will he even assault the queen with me in the house?” As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face. 9 Then Harbonah, one of the eunuchs who stood before the king, said, “Indeed, behold, ^athe wooden gallows standing at Haman’s house ¹fifty cubits high, which Haman made for Mordecai ^bwho spoke good in behalf of the king!” And the king said, “Hang him on it.” 10 ^aSo they hanged Haman on the wooden gallows which he had prepared for Mordecai, ^band the king’s anger subsided.

So the king and Haman came to drink wine with Esther the queen. 2 And the king said to Esther on the second day also as they drank their wine, “^aWhat is your petition, Queen Esther? It shall be granted to you. And what is your request? ^bEven to half of the kingdom, it shall be done.” 3 Then Queen Esther replied, “^aIf I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it pleases the king, let my life be spared as my petition, and my people be spared as my request; 4 for ^awe have been sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, ^bkilled and wiped out of existence. Now if we had only been sold as slaves, men and women, I would have remained silent, for our hardship would not be sufficient to burden the king by even mentioning it.” 5 Then King Ahasuerus (Xerxes) asked Queen Esther, “Who is he, and where is he, who dares to do such a thing?” 6 Esther said, “^aAn adversary and an enemy is Haman, this evil man.” Then Haman became terrified before the king and queen.

7 Then ^ain his fury, the king stood up from drinking wine and went into ^bthe palace garden to decide what he should do; but Haman stayed to plead for his life from Queen Esther, for he saw that harm had been determined against him by the king. 8 When the king returned from the palace garden to the place where they were drinking wine, Haman was falling on ^athe couch where Esther was. Then the king said, “Will he even attempt to assault the queen with me in the palace?” As the king spoke those words, the servants covered Haman’s face in preparation for execution. 9 Then Harbonah, one of the eunuchs serving the king said, “Now look, ^athere are gallows fifty cubits (75 ft.) high standing at Haman’s house, which Haman made for Mordecai, ^bwhose good warning saved the king.” And the king said, “Hang him on it.” 10 ^aSo they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. ^bThen the king’s anger subsided.

Now the king and Haman came to drink wine with Esther the queen. 2 And the king said to Esther on the second day also ¹as they drank their wine at the banquet, “^aWhat is your petition, Queen Esther? It shall be granted you. Now if we had only been sold as slaves, men and women, I would have remained silent, for the ¹trouble would not be commensurate with the ²annoyance to the king.” 5 Then King Ahasuerus ¹asked Queen Esther, “Who is he, and where is he, ²who would presume to do thus?” 6 Esther said, “^aA foe and an enemy is this wicked Haman!” Then Haman became terrified before the king and queen.

7 The king arose ^ain his anger from ¹drinking wine and went into ^bthe palace garden; but Haman stayed to beg for his life from Queen Esther, for he saw that harm had been determined against him by the king. 8 Now when the king returned from the palace garden into the ¹place where they were drinking wine, Haman was falling on ^athe couch where Esther was.
