2 Abraham engendró a Isaac, Isaac a Jacob, y Jacob a Judá y a sus hermanos; 3 Judá engendró, de Tamar, a Fares y a Zara, ^aFares engendró a Esrom, y Esrom a Aram¹; 4 Aram engendró a Aminadab, Aminadab a Naasón, y Naasón a Salmón; 5 Salmón engendró, de Rahab, a Booz, Booz engendró, de Rut, a Obed, y Obed engendró a Isaí; 6 Isaí engendró al rey David.

Y David engendró a Salomón^a de la que había sido mujer de Urías. 7 Salomón engendró a Roboam^a, Roboam a Abías, y Abías a Asa¹; 8 Asa engendró a Josafat, Josafat a Joram, y Joram a Uzías; 9 Uzías engendró a Jotam, Jotam a Acaz, y Acaz a Ezequías; 10 Ezequías engendró a Manasés, Manasés a Amón¹, y Amón² a Josías; 11 Josías engendró a Jeconías¹ y a sus hermanos durante la² deportación a Babilonia^a.

12 Después de la deportación a Babilonia^a, Jeconías engendró a Salatiel, y Salatiel a Zorobabel; 13 Zorobabel engendró a Abiud, Abiud a Eliaquim, y Eliaquim a Azor; 14 Azor engendró a Sadoc, Sadoc a Aquim, y Aquim a Eliud; 15 Eliud engendró a Eleazar, Eleazar a Matán, y Matán a Jacob; 16 Jacob engendró a José, el marido de María, de la cual nació Jesús, llamado el Cristo^1a.

17 De manera que todas las generaciones desde Abraham hasta David son catorce generaciones; y desde David hasta la deportación a Babilonia^a, catorce generaciones; y desde la deportación a Babilonia^b hasta Cristo¹, catorce generaciones.

18 Y el nacimiento de Jesucristo fue como sigue. Estando su madre María^a desposada¹ con José, antes de que se consumara el matrimonio², se halló que había concebido por obra del Espíritu Santo^b. 19 Y José su marido, siendo un hombre justo y no queriendo difamarla, quiso abandonarla¹ en secreto^a. 20 Pero mientras pensaba en esto, he aquí que se le apareció en sueños un ángel del Señor, diciendo: José, hijo de David^a, no temas recibir a María tu mujer, porque el Niño¹ que se ha engendrado en ella es del Espíritu Santo. 21 Y dará a luz un hijo, y le pondrás por nombre Jesús^a, porque Él salvará a su pueblo de sus pecados^b. 22 Todo esto sucedió¹ para que se cumpliera lo que el Señor había hablado por medio del profeta^a, diciendo: 23 HE AQUÍ, LA VIRGEN CONCEBIRÁ Y DARA A LUZ UN HIJO, Y LE PONDRÁN POR NOMBRE EMMANUEL^a, que traducido significa: DIOS CON NOSOTROS^b. 24 Y cuando despertó¹ José del sueño, hizo como el ángel del Señor le había mandado, y tomó consigo a su mujer; 25 y la conservó virgen¹ hasta que dio a luz un hijo^2a; y le puso por nombre Jesús^b.

2 Abraham ¹was the father of Isaac, ²Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of ³Judah and his brothers. 3 Judah was the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, ^aPerez was the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of ¹Ram. 4 Ram was the father of Amminadab, Amminadab the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon the father of Salmon. 5 Salmon was the father of Boaz by Rahab, Boaz was the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse. 6 Jesse was the father of David the king.

David ^awas the father of Solomon by ¹Bathsheba who had been the wife of Uriah. 7 Solomon ^awas the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, and Abijah the father of ¹Asa. 8 Asa was the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of ¹Joram, and Joram the father of Uzziah. 9 Uzziah was the father of ¹Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, and Ahaz the father of Hezekiah. 10 Hezekiah was the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of ¹Amon, and Amon the ^afather of Josiah. 11 Josiah became the father of ¹Jeconiah and his brothers, at the time of the ^adeportation to Babylon.

12 After the ^adeportation to Babylon: Jeconiah became the father of ¹Shealtiel, and Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel. 13 Zerubbabel was the father of ¹Abihud, Abihud the father of Eliakim, and Eliakim the father of Azor. 14 Azor was the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Achim, and Achim the father of Eliud. 15 Eliud was the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, and Matthan the father of Jacob. 16 Jacob was the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, by whom Jesus was born, ^awho is called ¹the Messiah.

17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; from David to the ^adeportation to Babylon, fourteen generations; and from the ^bdeportation to Babylon to ¹the Messiah, fourteen generations.

18 Now the birth of Jesus ¹Christ was as follows: when His ^amother Mary had been ²betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was ^bfound to be with child by the Holy Spirit. 19 And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man and not wanting to disgrace her, planned ^1ato send her away secretly. 20 But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “^aJoseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for ¹the Child who has been ²conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a Son; and ^ayou shall call His name Jesus, for ¹He ^bwill save His people from their sins.” 22 Now all this ¹took place to fulfill what was ^aspoken by the Lord through the prophet: 23 “^aBEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH ^bCHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME ¹IMMANUEL,” which translated means, “^cGOD WITH US.” 24 And Joseph ¹awoke from his sleep and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took Mary as his wife, 25 ¹but kept her a virgin until she ^agave birth to a Son; and ^bhe called His name Jesus.
