Habiendo entrado Jesús en Jericó, pasaba por la ciudad^a. 2 Y¹ un hombre llamado² Zaqueo, que era jefe de los recaudadores de impuestos³ y era rico, 3 trataba de ver quién era Jesús; pero no podía a causa de la multitud, ya que él era de pequeña estatura. 4 Y corriendo delante, se subió a un sicómoro para verle^a, porque Jesús estaba a punto de pasar por allí. 5 Cuando Jesús llegó al lugar, miró hacia arriba y le dijo: Zaqueo, date prisa y desciende, porque hoy debo quedarme en tu casa. 6 Entonces él se apresuró a descender y le recibió con gozo¹. 7 Y al ver esto, todos murmuraban, diciendo: Ha ido a hospedarse con¹ un hombre pecador. 8 Y Zaqueo, puesto en pie, dijo al Señor^a: He aquí, Señor, la mitad de mis bienes daré a los pobres, y si en algo he defraudado^b a alguno, se lo restituiré cuadruplicado^c. 9 Y Jesús le dijo: Hoy ha venido la salvación a esta casa, ya que él también es hijo de Abraham^a; 10 porque el Hijo del Hombre ha venido a buscar y a salvar lo que se había perdido^a.

11 Estando ellos oyendo estas cosas, continuando Jesús, dijo una parábola, porque Él estaba cerca de Jerusalén^a y ellos pensaban que el reino de Dios iba a aparecer^b de un momento a otro. 12 Por eso dijo: ^aCierto hombre de familia noble fue a un país lejano a recibir un reino para sí y después volver. 13 Y llamando a diez de sus siervos, les dio diez minas¹ y les dijo: «Negociad con esto hasta que yo regrese²». 14 Pero sus ciudadanos lo odiaban, y enviaron una delegación tras él, diciendo: «No queremos queeste reine sobre nosotros». 15 Y sucedió que al regresar él, después de haber recibido el reino, mandó llamar a su presencia a aquellos siervos a los cuales había dado el dinero, para saber lo que habían ganado negociando¹. 16 Y se presentó el primero, diciendo: «Señor, tu mina ha producido diez minas más». 17 Y él le dijo: «Bien hecho, buen siervo, puesto que has sido fiel en lo muy poco^a, ten autoridad sobre diez ciudades». 18 Entonces vino el segundo, diciendo: «Tu mina, señor, ha producido cinco minas». 19 Y dijo también aeste: «Y tú vas a estar¹ sobre cinco ciudades». 20 Y vino otro, diciendo: «Señor, aquí está tu mina, que he tenido guardada en un pañuelo; 21 pues te tenía miedo, porque eres un hombre exigente, que recoges lo que no depositaste y siegas lo que no sembraste». 22 Él le contestó*: «Siervo inútil¹, por tus propias palabras² te voy a juzgar. ¿Sabías que yo soy un hombre exigente, que recojo lo que no deposité y siego lo que no sembré? 23 Entonces, ¿por qué no pusiste mi dinero en el banco, y al volver yo, lo hubiera recibido con los intereses?». 24 Y dijo a los que estaban presentes: «Quitadle la mina y dádsela al que tiene las diez minas». 25 Y ellos le dijeron: «Señor, él ya tiene diez minas». 26 Os digo, que a cualquiera que tiene, más le será dado, pero al que no tiene, aun lo que tiene se le quitará^a. 27 Pero a estos mis enemigos, que no querían que reinara sobre ellos^a, traedlos acá y matadlos delante de mí^b.

28 Habiendo dicho esto, iba delante, subiendo hacia Jerusalén^a.

29 Y aconteció que ^acuando se acercó a Betfagé y a Betania^b, cerca del monte que se llama de los Olivos^1c, envió a dos de los discípulos, 30 diciendo: Id a la aldea que está enfrente, en la cual, al entrar, encontraréis un pollino atado sobre el cual nunca se ha montado nadie¹; desatadlo y traedlo. 31 Y si alguien os pregunta: «¿Por qué lo desatáis?», de esta manera hablaréis: «Porque el Señor lo necesita». 32 Entonces los enviados fueron y lo encontraron como Él les había dicho. 33 Mientras desataban el pollino, sus dueños¹ les dijeron: ¿Por qué desatáis el pollino? 34 Y ellos respondieron: Porque el Señor lo necesita. 35 Y lo trajeron a Jesús, ^ay echando sus mantos sobre el pollino, pusieron a Jesús sobre él. 36 Y mientras Él iba avanzando, tendían sus mantos por el camino. 37 Cuando ya se acercaba, junto a la bajada del monte de los Olivos^a, toda la multitud de los discípulos, regocijándose, comenzó a alabar a Dios^b a gran voz por todas las maravillas¹ que habían visto, 38 diciendo:¡BENDITO^a EL REY QUE VIENE EN EL NOMBRE DEL SEÑOR^b!¡Paz en el cielo y gloria en las alturas^c! 39 Entonces algunos de los fariseos de entre la multitud le dijeron^a: Maestro, reprende a tus discípulos. 40 Respondiendo Él, dijo: Os digo que siestos callan, las piedras clamarán^a.

41 Cuando se acercó, al ver la ciudad, lloró sobre ella^a, 42 diciendo: ¡Si tú también hubieras sabido en este día lo que conduce a la paz! Pero ahora está oculto a tus ojos. 43 Porque sobre ti vendrán días, cuando¹ tus enemigos echarán terraplén delante de ti^a, te sitiarán y te acosarán por todas partes^b. 44 Y te derribarán a tierra, y a tus hijos dentro de ti, y no dejarán en ti piedra sobre piedra^a, porque no conociste el tiempo de tu visitación^b.

45 ^aY entrando en el templo, comenzó a echar fuera a los que vendían, 46 diciéndoles: Escrito está: «Y MI CASA SERÁ CASA DE ORACIÓN^a», pero vosotros la habéis hecho CUEVA DE LADRONES^b.

47 Y enseñaba diariamente en el templo^a, pero los principales sacerdotes, los escribas y los más prominentes del pueblo procuraban matarle^b; 48 y no encontraban la manera de hacerlo¹, porque todo el pueblo estaba pendiente de Él, escuchándole.

He ^aentered Jericho and was passing through. 2 And there was a man called by the name of Zaccheus; he was a chief tax collector and he was rich. 3 Zaccheus was trying to see who Jesus was, and was unable because of the crowd, for he was small in stature. 4 So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a ^1asycamore tree in order to see Him, for He was about to pass through that way. 5 When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, “Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” 6 And he hurried and came down and received Him ¹gladly. 7 When they saw it, they all began to grumble, saying, “He has gone ¹to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.” 8 Zaccheus stopped and said to ^athe Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I ¹will give to the poor, and if I have ^bdefrauded anyone of anything, I ²will give back ^cfour times as much.” 9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is ^aa son of Abraham. 10 For ^athe Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

11 While they were listening to these things, Jesus went on to tell a parable, because ^aHe was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that ^bthe kingdom of God was going to appear immediately. 12 So He said, “^aA nobleman went to a distant country to receive a kingdom for himself, and then return. 13 And he called ten of his slaves, and gave them ten ¹minas and said to them, ‘Do business with this ²until I come back.’ 14 But his citizens hated him and sent ¹a delegation after him, saying, ‘We do not want this man to reign over us.’ 15 When he returned, after receiving the kingdom, he ordered that these slaves, to whom he had given the money, be called to him so that he might know what business they had done. 16 The first appeared, saying, ‘¹Master, your ²mina has made ten minas more.’ 17 And he said to him, ‘Well done, good slave, because you have been ^afaithful in a very little thing, you are to be in authority over ten cities.’ 18 The second came, saying, ‘Your ¹mina, ²master, has made five minas.’ 19 And he said to him also, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’ 20 Another came, saying, ‘Master, here is your mina, which I kept put away in a handkerchief; 21 for I was afraid of you, because you are an exacting man; you take up what you did not lay down and reap what you did not sow.’ 22 He *said to him, ‘¹By your own words I will judge you, you worthless slave. Did you know that I am an exacting man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow? 23 Then why did you not put my money in the bank, and having come, I would have collected it with interest?’ 24 Then he said to the bystanders, ‘Take the mina away from him and give it to the one who has the ten minas.’ 25 And they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas already.’ 26 ‘^aI tell you that to everyone who has, more shall be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away. 27 But ^athese enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and ^bslay them in my presence.’”

28 After He had said these things, He ^awas going on ahead, ^bgoing up to Jerusalem.

29 ^aWhen He approached Bethphage and ^bBethany, near the ¹mount that is called ^cOlivet, He sent two of the disciples, 30 saying, “Go into the village ahead of you; there, as you enter, you will find a colt tied on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of it.’” 32 So those who were sent went away and found it just as He had told them. 33 As they were untying the colt, its ¹owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?” 34 They said, “The Lord has need of it.” 35 They brought it to Jesus, ^aand they threw their coats on the colt and put Jesus on it. 36 As He was going, they were spreading their coats on the road. 37 As soon as He was approaching, near the descent of ^athe Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began to ^bpraise God ¹joyfully with a loud voice for all the ²miracles which they had seen, 38 shouting:“^aBLESSED IS THE ^bKING WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD;Peace in heaven and ^cglory in the highest!” 39 ^aSome of the Pharisees ¹in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.” 40 But Jesus answered, “I tell you, if these become silent, ^athe stones will cry out!”

41 When He approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and ^awept over it, 42 saying, “If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes. 43 For the days will come upon you ¹when your enemies will ^athrow up a ²barricade against you, and ^bsurround you and hem you in on every side, 44 and they will level you to the ground and your children within you, and ^athey will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize ^bthe time of your visitation.”

45 ^aJesus entered the temple and began to drive out those who were selling, 46 saying to them, “It is written, ‘^aAND MY HOUSE SHALL BE A HOUSE OF PRAYER,’ ^bbut you have made it a ROBBERS’ ¹DEN.”

47 And ^aHe was teaching daily in the temple; but the chief priests and the scribes and the leading men among the people ^bwere trying to destroy Him, 48 and they could not find ¹anything that they might do, for all the people were hanging on to ²every word He said.
