¡Cómo nubló, en su irael Señor a la hija de Sióna!Ha arrojado del cielo a la tierrabla gloria de Israelc,y no se ha acordado del estrado de sus piesden el día de su ira.2 El Señor ha devorado, no ha perdonadoaninguna de las moradas de Jacob.Ha derribado en su furorlas fortalezas de la hija de Judáb,las ha echado por tierrac;ha profanado al reino y a sus príncipesd.3 Ha exterminado en el ardor de su iratodas las fuerzas1a de Israel;ha echado atrás su diestraen presencia del enemigob;y se ha encendido en Jacob como llamas de fuegodevorando todo en derredorc.4 Ha entesado su arcoa como enemigo,ha afirmado su diestra como adversarioy ha matado todo lo que era agradable a la vistab;en la tienda de la hija de Siónha derramado su furor como fuegoc.5 Se ha vuelto el Señor como enemigoa:ha devorado a Israel,ha devorado todos sus palacios,ha destruido sus fortalezasy ha multiplicado en la hija de Judábel lamento y el dueloc.6 Y ha tratado con violencia a su tabernáculo1, como a cabaña de huerto;ha destruido su lugar de reunión2a.El SEÑOR ha hecho olvidar en Siónla fiesta solemne y el día de reposob,y ha rechazado en el furor de su iraal rey y al sacerdotec.7 El SEÑOR ha rechazado su altar,ha despreciado su santuario;ha entregado en manos del enemigoalos muros de sus palaciosb.Gritos se han dado en la casa del SEÑORccomo en día de fiesta solemne.8 El SEÑOR determinó1 destruirla muralla de la hija de Sión;ha extendido el cordel,no ha retraído su mano de destruir2,y ha hecho que se lamenten el antemuro y el muroa;a una desfallecenb.9 Se han hundido en la tierra sus puertasa,Él ha destruido y quebrado sus cerrojos.Su rey y sus príncipes están entre las naciones;ya no hay leyb;tampoco sus profetas hallanvisión del SEÑORc.10 En tierra están sentadosa, en silenciob,los ancianos de la hija de Sión.Han echado polvo sobre sus cabezasc,se han ceñido de ciliciod.Han inclinado a tierra sus cabezaslas vírgenes de Jerusaléne.11 Mis ojos se consumen por las lágrimas,hierven mis entrañasa;mi hiel1 se derrama por tierrab,a causa de la destrucción2 de la hija de mi puebloc,cuando niños y lactantes desfallecenen las calles de la ciudadd.12 Dicen a sus madres:¿Dónde hay grano y vino?,mientras desfallecen como heridosen las plazas de la ciudada,mientras exhalan su espírituen el regazo de sus madresb.13 ¿Cómo he de amonestartea?¿A qué te compararé,hija de Jerusalén?¿A qué te igualaré al consolarte,virgen hija de Siónb?Porque grande como el mar es tu ruina1,¿quién te podrá sanarc?14 Tus profetas tuvieron para tivisiones falsas y neciasa,y no manifestaron tu iniquidadbpara que regresaras de1 tu cautiverio,sino que vieron para ti oráculos falsos y engañosos2c.15 Baten palmas contra titodos los que pasan por el camino;silbana y mueven sus cabezascontra la hija de Jerusalén, diciendo:¿Esesta la ciudad de la cual decíanb:«La perfección de la hermosurac,el gozo de toda la tierrad»?16 Han abierto contra ti su bocatodos tus enemigosa;silban y rechinan los dientesb,dicen: La hemos devoradoc.Ciertamente este es el día que esperábamosd;lo hemos alcanzado, lo hemos visto.17 El SEÑOR ha hecho lo que se propusoa,ha cumplido su palabraque había ordenado desde tiempos1 antiguos;ha derribado sin perdonarb,ha hecho que se alegre el enemigo sobre tic,ha exaltado el poder2 de tus adversariosd.18 Su corazón clamó al Señora:Muralla de la hija de Siónb,corran tus lágrimas como un río día y noche,no te des reposo,no tengan descanso tus ojos1c.19 Levántate, da voces en la nocheal comenzar las vigiliasa;derrama como agua tu corazónante la presencia del Señorb;alza hacia Él tus manos1por la vida de tus pequeños,que desfallecen de hambrecen las esquinas de todas las callesd.20 Mira, oh SEÑOR, y observa:¿a quién has tratado asía?¿Habían de comer las mujeres el fruto de sus entrañasb,a los pequeños criados con cariño?¿Habían de ser muertos en el santuario del Señorel sacerdote y el profetac?21 Yacen por tierra en las callesjóvenes y viejos;mis vírgenes y mis manceboshan caído a espadaa.Has matado en el día de tu ira,has hecho matanza, no has perdonadob.22 Como en día de fiesta solemne convocastemis terrores de todas partesa;y no hubo en el día de la ira del SEÑORquien escaparab ni sobrevivierac.A los que crié1 y mantuve,mi enemigo los exterminó.

How the Lord has acovered the daughter of ZionWith a cloud in His anger!He has bcast from heaven to earthThe cglory of Israel,And has not remembered His dfootstoolIn the day of His anger.2 The Lord has aswallowed up; He has not sparedAll the habitations of Jacob.In His wrath He has bthrown downThe strongholds of the daughter of Judah;He has cbrought them down to the ground;He has dprofaned the kingdom and its princes.3 In fierce anger He has cut off1All the astrength of Israel;He has bdrawn back His right handFrom before the enemy.And He has cburned in Jacob like a flaming fireConsuming round about.4 He has bent His abow like an enemy;He has set His right hand like an adversaryAnd slain all that were bpleasant to the eye;In the tent of the daughter of ZionHe has cpoured out His wrath like fire.5 The Lord has become like an aenemy.He has bswallowed up Israel;He has swallowed up all its cpalaces,He has destroyed its strongholdsAnd dmultiplied in the daughter of JudahMourning and moaning.6 And He has violently treated His 1tabernacle like a garden booth;He has adestroyed His appointed 2meeting place.The LORD has bcaused to be forgottenThe appointed feast and sabbath in Zion,And He has cdespised king and priestIn the indignation of His anger.7 The Lord has arejected His altar,He has abandoned His sanctuary;He bhas delivered into the hand of the enemyThe walls of her palaces.They have made a cnoise in the house of the LORDAs in the day of an appointed feast.8 The LORD 1determined to destroyThe wall of the daughter of Zion.He has astretched out a line,He has not restrained His hand from 2destroying,And He has bcaused rampart and wall to lament;They have languished together.9 Her agates have sunk into the ground,He has destroyed and broken her bars.Her king and her princes are among the nations;The blaw is no more.Also, her prophets findcNo vision from the LORD.10 The elders of the daughter of ZionaSit on the ground, they bare silent.They have thrown cdust on their heads;They have girded themselves with dsackcloth.The evirgins of JerusalemHave bowed their heads to the ground.11 My aeyes fail because of tears,My 1bspirit is greatly troubled;My 2cheart is poured out on the earthdBecause of the 3destruction of the daughter of my people,When elittle ones and infants faintIn the streets of the city.12 They say to their mothers,aWhere is grain and wine?”As they faint like a wounded manIn the streets of the city,As their blife is poured outOn their mothers’ bosom.13 How shall I admonish you?To what ashall I compare you,O daughter of Jerusalem?To what shall I liken you as I comfort you,O bvirgin daughter of Zion?For your 1ruin is as vast as the sea;Who can cheal you?14 Your aprophets have seen for youFalse and foolish visions;And they have not bexposed your iniquitySo as to restore you from captivity,But they have cseen for you false and misleading 1oracles.15 All who pass along the wayaClap their hands in derision at you;They bhiss and shake their headsAt the daughter of Jerusalem,“Is this the city of which they said,cThe perfection of beauty,dA joy to all the earth’?”16 All ayour enemiesHave opened their mouths wide against you;They hiss and bgnash their teeth.They say, “We have cswallowed her up!Surely this is the dday for which we waited;We have reached it, we have seen it.17 The LORD has adone what He purposed;He has accomplished His wordWhich He commanded from days of old.He has thrown down bwithout sparing,And He has caused the enemy to crejoice over you;He has dexalted the 1might of your adversaries.18 Their aheart cried out to the Lord,“O bwall of the daughter of Zion,Let your ctears run down like a river day and night;Give yourself no relief,Let 1your eyes have no rest.19 Arise, cry aloud in the anightAt the beginning of the night watches;bPour out your heart like waterBefore the presence of the Lord;Lift up your hands to HimFor the clife of your little onesWho are dfaint because of hungerAt the head of every street.”20 See, O LORD, and look!With awhom have You dealt thus?Should women beat their 1offspring,The little ones who were 2born healthy?Should cpriest and prophet be slainIn the sanctuary of the Lord?21 On the ground in the streetsLie ayoung and old;My bvirgins and my young menHave fallen by the sword.You have slain them in the day of Your anger,You have slaughtered, cnot sparing.22 You called as in the day of an appointed feastMy aterrors on every side;And there was bno one who escaped or survivedIn the day of the LORDS anger.Those cwhom I 1bore and reared,My enemy annihilated them.
