Profecía sobre los filisteos

Palabra del SEÑOR que vino al profeta Jeremías acerca de los filisteos, antes que Faraón conquistara¹ Gaza^a. 2 Así dice el SEÑOR:He aquí que suben aguas del norte^ay se convierten en torrente desbordante,que inunda la tierra y su plenitud^b,la ciudad y los que en ella habitan;clamarán los hombres,y gemirá todo habitante de la tierra^c

3 a causa del sonido de los¹ cascos de sus corceles²,del estruendo de sus carros y del estrépito de sus ruedas^a.No se vuelven los padres para cuidar a sus hijos,por la debilidad de sus brazos³,4 a causa del día que vienepara destruir a todos los filisteos^a,para exterminar de Tiro y de Sidón^ba todo aliado que quede;porque el SEÑOR destruirá a los filisteos,al remanente de la costa de Caftor^c.5 Le ha sobrevenido la calvicie^a a Gaza,desolada ha sido Ascalón^b.Remanente de su valle,¿hasta cuándo te sajarás^c?6 ¡Ay, espada del SEÑOR!¿Hasta cuándo estarás inquieta¹?Vuélvete a tu vaina^a,reposa y cálmate.7 ¿Cómo puede¹ estar quieta,cuando el SEÑOR le ha dado órdenes^a?Contra Ascalón y contra la costa del mar,allí la ha asignado.

Prophecy against Philistia

That which came as the word of the LORD to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the ^aPhilistines, before Pharaoh ¹conquered ^bGaza. 2 Thus says the LORD:“Behold, waters are going to rise from ^athe northAnd become an overflowing torrent,And ^boverflow the land and all its fullness,The city and those who live in it;And the men will ^ccry out,And every inhabitant of the land will wail.

3 “Because of the noise of the ¹^agalloping hoofs of his ²stallions,The tumult of his chariots, and the rumbling of his wheels,The fathers have not turned back for their children,Because of the limpness of their hands,4 On account of the day that is comingTo ^adestroy all the Philistines,To cut off from ^bTyre and SidonEvery ally that is left;For the LORD is going to destroy the Philistines,The remnant of the coastland of ^cCaphtor.5 “^aBaldness has come upon Gaza;^bAshkelon has been ruined.O remnant of their valley,How long will you ^cgash yourself?6 “Ah, ^asword of the LORD,How long will you not be quiet?Withdraw into your sheath;Be at rest and stay still.7 “How can ¹it be quiet,When the LORD has ^agiven it an order?Against Ashkelon and against the seacoast—There He has ^bassigned it.”
