Y Eliseo habló a la mujer, a cuyo hijo él había devuelto la vida^a, diciendo: Levántate y vete, tú y tu casa, y reside donde puedas residir, porque el SEÑOR ha llamado al hambre^b que¹ vendrá sobre la tierra por siete años^c. 2 Entonces la mujer se levantó e hizo conforme a la palabra del hombre de Dios, y se fue ella con los de su casa y residió en la tierra de los filisteos siete años. 3 Y aconteció que al cabo de los siete años, la mujer volvió de la tierra de los filisteos; y salió a implorar¹ al rey por su casa y por su campo. 4 Y el rey estaba hablando con Giezi, criado del hombre de Dios^a, diciéndole: Te ruego que me cuentes todas las grandes cosas que ha hecho Eliseo. 5 Y sucedió que mientras él contaba al rey cómo había devuelto la vida a un muerto^a, he aquí, la mujer a cuyo hijo había devuelto la vida, imploró¹ al rey por su casa y por su campo. Y Giezi dijo: Oh rey señor mío,esta es la mujer yeste es su hijo, al que Eliseo devolvió la vida. 6 Cuando el rey preguntó a la mujer, ella se lo contó. Entonces el rey le asignó un oficial, diciendo: Restáurale todo lo que era suyo y todo el fruto del campo desde el día que dejó el país hasta ahora.

7 Entonces Eliseo fue a Damasco^a. Y Ben-adad, rey de Aram^b, estaba enfermo, y le dieron aviso, diciendo: El hombre de Dios^c ha venido acá. 8 Y el rey dijo a Hazael^a: Toma un presente en tu mano^b y ve al encuentro del hombre de Dios y consulta al SEÑOR por medio de él, diciendo: «¿Sanaré de esta enfermedad^c?». 9 Y Hazael fue a recibirlo, y tomó un presente en su mano de todo lo bueno de Damasco, la carga de cuarenta camellos; y vino y se puso delante de él y dijo: Tu hijo Ben-adad, rey de Aram, me ha enviado a ti, diciendo: «¿Sanaré de esta enfermedad^a?». 10 Entonces Eliseo le dijo: Ve y dile: «Ciertamente sanarás^a»; pero el SEÑOR me ha mostrado que ciertamente morirá^b. 11 Y puso rígido su rostro y fijó sus ojos en él hasta que se sintió avergonzado^a, y el hombre de Dios lloró^b. 12 Y Hazael dijo: ¿Por qué llora mi señor? Entonces respondió: Porque sé el mal que harás a los hijos de Israel^a: incendiarás sus fortalezas, matarás a espada a sus jóvenes, estrellarás a sus niños y rasgarás el vientre a sus mujeres encinta^b. 13 Entonces Hazael dijo: Pero, ¿qué es tu siervo, sino un perro, para que haga tan¹ enorme cosa^a? Y Eliseo respondió: El SEÑOR me ha mostrado que tú serás rey de Aram^b. 14 Entonces él se alejó de Eliseo y regresó a su señor, quien le dijo: ¿Qué te dijo Eliseo? Y él respondió: Me dijo que ciertamente sanarás^a. 15 Pero al día siguiente Hazael tomó la manta, la empapó en agua y se la puso al rey sobre la cara, y murió^a. Y Hazael reinó en su lugar.

16 En el año quinto de Joram, hijo de Acab, rey de Israel, siendo Josafat rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Joram, hijo de Josafat, rey de Judá^a. 17 ^aTenía treinta y dos años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén. 18 Y anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, tal como había hecho la casa de Acab (porque la hija de Acab era su mujer); e hizo lo malo ante los ojos del SEÑOR^a. 19 Sin embargo, el SEÑOR no quiso destruir a Judá por amor a David su siervo, ya que le había prometido¹ darle una lámpara² por medio de sus hijos para siempre^a.

20 En sus días se rebeló Edom contra el dominio¹ de Judá, y pusieron rey sobre ellos^a. 21 Entonces pasó Joram a Zair, y todos sus carros con él. Y aconteció que se levantó de noche y atacó¹ a los edomitas que lo tenían cercado a él y a los capitanes de los carros, pero su ejército² huyó a sus tiendas^a. 22 Y Edom se rebeló contra el dominio¹ de Judá, hasta el día de hoy^a. Entonces Libna se rebeló^b en ese mismo tiempo. 23 Los demás hechos de Joram y todo lo que hizo, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las Crónicas de los reyes de Judá? 24 Y durmió Joram con sus padres y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David^a; y su hijo Ocozías reinó en su lugar^b.

25 ^aEn el año doce de Joram, hijo de Acab, rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Ocozías, hijo de Joram, rey de Judá. 26 Ocozías tenía veintidós años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó un año en Jerusalén. Y el nombre de su madre era Atalía, nieta¹ de Omri^a, rey de Israel. 27 Él también anduvo en el camino de la casa de Acab^a, e hizo lo malo ante los ojos del SEÑOR, como había hecho la casa de Acab, porque era yerno de Acab. 28 Entonces fue con Joram, hijo de Acab, a la guerra contra Hazael^a, rey de Aram, en Ramot de Galaad^b; y los arameos hirieron a Joram. 29 Y el rey Joram regresó a Jezreel para ser curado de las heridas que los arameos le habían hecho¹ en Ramot, cuando peleó contra Hazael, rey de Aram^a. Entonces Ocozías, hijo de Joram, rey de Judá, descendió para visitar a Joram, hijo de Acab, en Jezreel porque estaba enfermo^b.

Now ^aElisha spoke to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, “Arise and go ¹with your household, and sojourn wherever you can sojourn; for the ^bLORD has called for a famine, and ^cit will even come on the land for seven years.” 2 So the woman arose and did according to the word of the man of God, and she went with her household and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years. 3 At the end of seven years, the woman returned from the land of the Philistines; and she went out to ¹appeal to the king for her house and for her field. 4 Now the king was talking with ^aGehazi, the servant of the man of God, saying, “Please relate to me all the great things that Elisha has done.” 5 As he was relating to the king ^ahow he had restored to life the one who was dead, behold, the woman whose son he had restored to life ¹appealed to the king for her house and for her field. And Gehazi said, “My lord, O king, this is the woman and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.” 6 When the king asked the woman, she related it to him. So the king appointed for her a certain officer, saying, “Restore all that was hers and all the produce of the field from the day that she left the land even until now.”

7 Then Elisha came to ^aDamascus. Now ^bBen-hadad king of Aram was sick, and it was told him, saying, “^cThe man of God has come here.” 8 The king said to ^aHazael, “^bTake a gift in your hand and go to meet the man of God, and ^cinquire of the LORD by him, saying, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’” 9 So Hazael went to meet him and took a gift in his hand, even every kind of good thing of Damascus, forty camels’ loads; and he came and stood before him and said, “^aYour son Ben-hadad king of Aram has sent me to you, saying, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’” 10 Then Elisha said to him, “^aGo, say to him, ‘You will surely recover,’ but the ^bLORD has shown me that he will certainly die.” 11 He ¹fixed his gaze steadily on him ^auntil he was ashamed, and ^bthe man of God wept. 12 Hazael said, “Why does my lord weep?” Then he ¹answered, “Because ^aI know the evil that you will do to the sons of Israel: their strongholds you will set on fire, and their young men you will kill with the sword, and their little ones you ^bwill dash in pieces, and their women with child you will rip up.” 13 Then Hazael said, “But what is your servant, ^awho is but a dog, that he should do this great thing?” And Elisha ¹answered, “^bThe LORD has shown me that you will be king over Aram.” 14 So he departed from Elisha and returned to his master, who said to him, “What did Elisha say to you?” And he ¹answered, “He told me that ^ayou would surely recover.” 15 On the following day, he took the cover and dipped it in water and spread it on his face, ^aso that he died. And Hazael became king in his place.

16 Now in the fifth year of ^aJoram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then the king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah became king. 17 He was ^athirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. 18 He walked in the way of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Ahab had done, for ^athe daughter of Ahab became his wife; and he did evil in the sight of the LORD. 19 However, the LORD was not willing to destroy Judah, for the sake of David His servant, ^asince He had ¹promised him to give a ²lamp to him through his sons always.

20 In his days ^aEdom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves. 21 Then Joram crossed over to Zair, and all his chariots with him. And he arose by night and struck the Edomites who had surrounded him and the captains of the chariots; ^abut his ¹army fled to their tents. 22 ^aSo Edom revolted ¹against Judah to this day. Then ^bLibnah revolted at the same time. 23 The rest of the acts of Joram and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

24 So Joram slept with his fathers and ^awas buried with his fathers in the city of David; and ^bAhaziah his son became king in his place.

25 ^aIn the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign. 26 ^aAhaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Athaliah the granddaughter of Omri king of Israel. 27 ^aHe walked in the way of the house of Ahab and did evil in the sight of the LORD, like the house of Ahab had done, because he was a son-in-law of the house of Ahab.

28 Then he went with Joram the son of Ahab to war against ^aHazael king of Aram at ^bRamoth-gilead, and the Arameans ¹wounded Joram. 29 So ^aKing Joram returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Arameans had ¹inflicted on him at ^bRamah when he fought against Hazael king of Aram. Then ^cAhaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel because he was sick.
