El quinto ángel tocó la trompeta^a, y vi una estrella que había caído del cielo^b a la tierra, y se le dio la llave^c del pozo del abismo^d. 2 Cuando abrió el pozo del abismo, subió humo^a del pozo como el humo de un gran horno, y el sol y el aire^b se oscurecieron por el humo del pozo. 3 Y del humo salieron langostas sobre¹ la tierra^a, y se les dio poder como tienen poder² los escorpiones de la tierra^b. 4 Se les dijo que no dañaran^a la hierba de la tierra^b, ni ninguna cosa verde, ni ningún árbol, sinosolo a los hombres que no tienen el sello de Dios en la frente^c. 5 No se les permitió matar a nadie¹, sino atormentarlos por cinco meses^a; y su tormento era como el tormento de un escorpión cuando pica² al hombre^b. 6 En aquellos días los hombres buscarán la muerte y no la hallarán^a; y ansiarán morir, y la muerte huirá¹ de ellos. 7 Y el aspecto¹ de las langostas era semejante al de caballos dispuestos para la batalla^a, y sobre sus cabezas tenían como coronas que parecían de oro, y sus caras eran como rostros humanos. 8 Tenían cabellos como cabellos de mujer, y sus dientes eran como de leones^a. 9 También tenían corazas como corazas de hierro; y el ruido de sus alas era como el estruendo de carros, de muchos caballos que se lanzan a la batalla^a. 10 Tienen colas parecidas a escorpiones^a, y aguijones; y en sus colas está su poder para hacer daño a los hombres^b por cinco meses^c. 11 Tienen sobre ellos por rey al ángel del abismo^a, cuyo nombre en hebreo^b es Abadón^1c, y en griego se llama Apolión².

12 El primer ¡ay^a! ha pasado; he aquí, aún vienen dos ayes después de estas cosas.

13 El sexto ángel tocó la trompeta, y oí una voz que salía de los cuatro¹ cuernos^a del altar de oro^b que está delante de Dios, 14 y decía al sexto ángel que tenía la trompeta: Suelta a los cuatro ángeles^a que están atados junto al gran río Eufrates^b. 15 Y fueron desatados los cuatro ángeles que habían sido preparados para la hora, el día, el mes y el año^a, para matar a la tercera parte de la humanidad^1b. 16 Y el número de los ejércitos de los jinetes era de doscientos millones^a; yo escuché su número^b. 17 Y así es como vi¹ en la visión^a los caballos y a los que los montaban: los jinetes tenían corazas color de fuego, de jacinto² y de azufre^b; las cabezas de los caballos eran como cabezas de leones, y de sus bocas salía fuego^c, humo y azufre^d. 18 La tercera parte^a de la humanidad¹ fue muerta por estas tres plagas: por el fuego^b, el humo y el azufre que salían de sus bocas. 19 Porque el poder de los caballos está en su boca y en sus colas; pues sus colas son semejantes a serpientes, tienen cabezas y con ellas hacen daño. 20 Y el resto de la humanidad¹, los que no fueron muertos por estas plagas, no se arrepintieron^a de las obras de sus manos^b ni dejaron de² adorar a los demonios^c y a los ídolos de oro, de plata, de bronce, de piedra y de madera, que no pueden ver ni oír ni andar^d; 21 y no se arrepintieron de sus homicidios^a ni de sus hechicerías^b ni de su inmoralidad^1c ni de sus robos.

Then the ^afifth angel sounded, and I saw a ^bstar from heaven which had fallen to the earth; and the ^ckey of the ^1dbottomless pit was given to him. 2 He opened the ¹bottomless pit, and ^asmoke went up out of the pit, like the smoke of a great furnace; and ^bthe sun and the air were darkened by the smoke of the pit. 3 Then out of the smoke came ^alocusts ¹upon the earth, and power was given them, as the ^bscorpions of the earth have power. 4 They were told not to ^ahurt the ^bgrass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree, but only the men who do not have the ^cseal of God on their foreheads. 5 And ¹they were not permitted to kill ²anyone, but to torment for ^afive months; and their torment was like the torment of a ^bscorpion when it ³stings a man. 6 And in those days ^amen will seek death and will not find it; they will long to die, and death flees from them.

7 The ^1aappearance of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle; and on their heads appeared to be crowns like gold, and their faces were like the faces of men. 8 They had hair like the hair of women, and their ^ateeth were like the teeth of lions. 9 They had breastplates like breastplates of iron; and the ^asound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, of many horses rushing to battle. 10 They have tails like ^ascorpions, and stings; and in their ^btails is their power to hurt men for ^cfive months. 11 They have as king over them, the angel of the ^aabyss; his name in ^bHebrew is ^1cAbaddon, and in the Greek he has the name ²Apollyon.

12 ^aThe first woe is past; behold, two woes are still coming after these things.

13 Then the sixth angel sounded, and I heard ¹a voice from the ²four ^ahorns of the ^bgolden altar which is before God, 14 one saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the ^afour angels who are bound at the ^bgreat river Euphrates.” 15 And the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were ^areleased, so that they would kill a ^bthird of ¹mankind. 16 The number of the armies of the horsemen was ^atwo hundred million; ^bI heard the number of them. 17 And ¹this is how I saw ^ain the vision the horses and those who sat on them: the riders had breastplates the color of fire and of hyacinth and of ^2bbrimstone; and the heads of the horses are like the heads of lions; and ^cout of their mouths proceed fire and smoke and ^3dbrimstone. 18 A ^athird of ¹mankind was killed by these three plagues, by the ^bfire and the smoke and the ²brimstone which proceeded out of their mouths. 19 For the power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails are like serpents and have heads, and with them they do harm.

20 The rest of ¹mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, ^adid not repent of ^bthe works of their hands, so as not to ^cworship demons, and ^dthe idols of gold and of silver and of brass and of stone and of wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk; 21 and they ^adid not repent of their murders nor of their ^bsorceries nor of their ^cimmorality nor of their thefts.
