Exhortación a la sabiduría

Hijo mío, no te olvides de mi enseñanza¹^a,y tu corazón guarde mis mandamientos^b,2 porque largura de días y años de vida^ay paz te añadirán.3 La misericordia y la verdad nunca se aparten de ti^a;átalas a tu cuello^b,escríbelas en la tabla de tu corazón^c.4 Así hallarás favor y buena estimación^aante los ojos de Dios y de los hombres^b.5 Confía en el SEÑOR^a con todo tu corazón,y no te apoyes en tu propio entendimiento^b.6 Reconócele^a en todos tus caminos,y Él enderezará tus sendas^b.7 No seas sabio a tus propios ojos^a,teme al SEÑOR y apártate del mal^b.8 Será medicina para tu cuerpo¹^ay refrigerio para tus huesos^b.9 Honra al SEÑOR con tus bienes^ay con las primicias de todos tus frutos^b;10 entonces tus graneros se llenarán con abundancia^ay tus lagares rebosarán de mosto^b.11 Hijo mío, no rechaces la disciplina¹ del SEÑORni aborrezcas su reprensión^a,12 porque el SEÑOR a quien ama reprende^a,como un padre al hijo^b en quien se deleita.

Beneficios de la sabiduría

13 Bienaventurado^a el hombre que halla sabiduríay el hombre que adquiere entendimiento;14 porque su ganancia es mejor que la ganancia de la plata,y sus utilidades mejor que el oro fino^a.15 Es más preciosa que las joyas¹,y nada de lo que deseas se compara con ella^a.16 Larga vida¹^a hay en su mano derecha,en su mano izquierda, riquezas y honra^b.17 Sus caminos son caminos agradablesy todas sus sendas, paz^a.18 Es árbol de vida^a para los que de ella echan mano,y felices son los que la abrazan.19 Con sabiduría fundó el SEÑOR la tierra^a,con inteligencia estableció los cielos^b.20 Con su conocimiento los abismos fueron divididos^ay los cielos destilan rocío^b.21 Hijo mío, no se aparten estas cosas de tus ojos^a,guarda la prudencia¹ y la discreción,22 y serán vida^a para tu alma,y adorno para tu cuello^b.23 Entonces andarás con seguridad por tu camino^a,y no tropezará tu pie^b.24 Cuando te acuestes no tendrás temor^a,sí, te acostarás y será dulce tu sueño.25 No temerás el pavor repentino^a,ni el ataque¹ de los impíos cuando venga^b,26 porque el SEÑOR será tu confianza¹,y guardará tu pie^a de ser apresado.

27 No niegues el bien a quien se le debe¹^a,cuando esté en tu mano el hacerlo.28 No digas a tu prójimo: Ve y vuelve,y mañana te lo daré,cuando lo tienes contigo^a.29 No trames el mal^a contra tu prójimo,mientras habite seguro a tu lado.30 No contiendas con nadie sin motivo,si no te ha hecho daño^a.31 No envidies al hombre violento^a,y no escojas ninguno de sus caminos;32 porque el hombre perverso es abominación para el SEÑOR^a;pero Él es amigo íntimo¹^b de los rectos.33 La maldición del SEÑOR^a está sobre la casa del impío,pero Él bendice la morada del justo^b.34 Ciertamente Él se burla de los burladores,pero da gracia a los afligidos^a.35 El sabio heredará honra^a,pero los necios hacen resaltar¹ su deshonra.

The Rewards of Wisdom

My son, ^ado not forget my ¹teaching,But let your heart ^bkeep my commandments;2 For ^alength of days and years of lifeAnd peace they will add to you.3 Do not let ^akindness and truth leave you;^bBind them around your neck,^cWrite them on the tablet of your heart.4 So you will ^afind favor and ^bgood ¹reputeIn the sight of God and man.5 ^aTrust in the LORD with all your heartAnd ^bdo not lean on your own understanding.6 In all your ways ^aacknowledge Him,And He will ^bmake your paths straight.7 ^aDo not be wise in your own eyes;^bFear the LORD and turn away from evil.8 It will be ^ahealing to your ¹bodyAnd ^brefreshment to your bones.9 ^aHonor the LORD from your wealthAnd from the ^bfirst of all your produce;10 So your ^abarns will be filled with plentyAnd your ^bvats will overflow with new wine.11 ^aMy son, do not reject the ¹discipline of the LORDOr loathe His reproof,12 For ^awhom the LORD loves He reproves,Even ^bas a father corrects the son in whom he delights.

13 ^aHow blessed is the man who finds wisdomAnd the man who gains understanding.14 For her ^aprofit is better than the profit of silverAnd her gain better than fine gold.15 She is ^amore precious than ¹jewels;And nothing you desire compares with her.16 ¹^aLong life is in her right hand;In her left hand are ^briches and honor.17 Her ^aways are pleasant waysAnd all her paths are ^bpeace.18 She is a ^atree of life to those who take hold of her,And happy are all who hold her fast.19 The LORD ^aby wisdom founded the earth,By understanding He ^bestablished the heavens.20 By His knowledge the ^adeeps were broken upAnd the ^bskies drip with dew.21 My son, ^alet them not ¹vanish from your sight;Keep sound wisdom and discretion,22 So they will be ^alife to your soulAnd ^badornment to your neck.23 Then you will ^awalk in your way securelyAnd your foot will not ^bstumble.24 When you ^alie down, you will not be afraid;When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.25 ^aDo not be afraid of sudden fearNor of the ¹^bonslaught of the wicked when it comes;26 For the LORD will be ¹your confidenceAnd will ^akeep your foot from being caught.

27 ^aDo not withhold good from ¹those to whom it is due,When it is in your power to do it.28 ^aDo not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come back,And tomorrow I will give it,”When you have it with you.29 ^aDo not devise harm against your neighbor,While he lives securely beside you.30 ^aDo not contend with a man without cause,If he has done you no harm.31 ^aDo not envy a man of violenceAnd do not choose any of his ways.32 For the ^adevious are an abomination to the LORD;But ¹He is ^bintimate with the upright.33 The ^acurse of the LORD is on the house of the wicked,But He ^bblesses the dwelling of the righteous.34 Though ^aHe scoffs at the scoffers,Yet ^bHe gives grace to the afflicted.35 ^aThe wise will inherit honor,But fools ¹display dishonor.

13 ^aBlessed is a person who finds wisdom,And one who obtains understanding.14 For ¹her ^aprofit is better than the profit of silver,And her produce better than gold.15 She is ^amore precious than ¹jewels,And nothing you desire compares with her.16 ¹^aLong life is in her right hand;In her left hand are ^briches and honor.17 Her ^aways are pleasant ways,And all her paths are ^bpeace.18 She is a ^atree of life to those who take hold of her,And happy are those who hold on to her.19 The LORD founded the earth ^aby wisdom,He ^bestablished the heavens by understanding.20 By His knowledge the ^aocean depths were burst open,And the ^bclouds drip with dew.21 My son, see that ^athey do not escape from your sight;Comply with sound wisdom and discretion,22 And they will be ^alife to your soulAnd ^badornment to your neck.23 Then you will ^awalk in your way securely,And your foot will not ^bstumble.24 When you ^alie down, you will not be afraid;When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.25 ^aDo not be afraid of sudden danger,Nor of ^btrouble from the wicked when it comes;26 For the LORD will be ¹your confidence,And will ^akeep your foot from being caught.

27 ^aDo not withhold good from ¹those to whom it is due,When it is in your power to do it.28 ^aDo not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come back,And tomorrow I will give it to you,”When you have it with you.29 ^aDo not devise harm against your neighbor,While he lives securely beside you.30 ^aDo not contend with a person for no reason,If he has done you no harm.31 ^aDo not envy a violent person,And do not choose any of his ways.32 For the ^adevious are an abomination to the LORD;But ¹He is ^bintimate with the upright.33 The ^acurse of the LORD is on the house of the wicked,But He ^bblesses the home of the righteous.34 Though ^aHe scoffs at the scoffers,Yet ^bHe gives grace to the needy.35 ^aThe wise will inherit honor,But fools ¹increase dishonor.
