Tambiénestos son proverbios de Salomón^a, que transcribieron los hombres de Ezequías, rey de Judá:

2 Es gloria de Dios encubrir una cosa^a,pero la gloria de los reyes es investigar un asunto^b.3 Como la altura de los cielos y la profundidad de la tierra,así es el corazón de los reyes, inescrutable.4 Quita la escoria de la plata^a,y saldrá un vaso para el orfebre^b;5 quita al malo de delante del rey^a,y su trono se afianzará en la justicia^b.6 No hagas ostentación ante el rey,y no te pongas en el lugar de los grandes;7 porque es mejor que te digan: Sube acá,a que te humillen delante del príncipea quien tus ojos han visto^a.

8 No te apresures a litigar^a;pues¹ ¿qué harás al final,cuando tu prójimo te avergüence?9 Discute tu caso con tu prójimo^ay no descubras el secreto de otro^b,10 no sea que te reproche el que lo oigay tu mala fama no se acabe¹.

11 Como manzanas de oro en engastes de plataes la palabra dicha a su tiempo^a.12 Como pendiente¹ de oro^a y adorno de oro fino^bes el sabio que reprende al oído atento^c.13 Como frescura de nieve en tiempo¹ de la siegaes el mensajero fiel^a para los que lo envían,porque refresca el alma de sus señores.14 Como las nubes y el viento sin lluvia^aes el hombre que se jacta falsamente de sus dones¹^b.15 Con la mucha paciencia¹ se persuade al príncipe,y la lengua suave quebranta los huesos^a.16 ¿Has hallado miel^a? Comesolo lo que necesites¹,no sea que te hartes y la vomites.17 No frecuente tu pie la casa de tu vecino,no sea que él se hastíe de ti y te aborrezca.18 Como maza y espada^a y aguda saeta^bes el hombre que levanta falso testimonio contra su prójimo^c.19 Como diente malo y pie que resbalaes la confianza en el hombre pérfido^a en tiempo de angustia.20 Como el que se quita la ropa en día de frío, o como el vinagre sobre la lejía¹,es el que canta canciones a un corazón afligido².21 Si tu enemigo¹ tiene hambre, dale de comer pan,y si tiene sed, dale de beber agua^a;22 porque así amontonarás¹ brasas sobre su cabeza,y el SEÑOR te recompensará^a.23 El viento del norte trae la lluvia,y la lengua murmuradora¹, el semblante airado^a.24 Mejor es vivir en un rincón del terradoque en una casa con mujer rencillosa¹^a.25 Como agua fría para el alma sedienta,así son las buenas nuevas de una tierra lejana^a.26 Como manantial hollado y pozo contaminado¹^aes el justo que cede ante el impío.27 No es bueno comer mucha miel,ni el buscar la propia gloria es gloria^a.28 Como ciudad invadida y sin murallas^aes el hombre que no domina su espíritu^b.

11 Like apples of gold in settings of silverIs a ^aword spoken in ¹right circumstances.12 Like ¹an ^aearring of gold and an ^bornament of ^cfine goldIs a wise reprover to a ^dlistening ear.13 Like the cold of snow in the ¹time of harvestIs a ^afaithful messenger to those who send him,For he refreshes the soul of his masters.14 Like ^aclouds and ^bwind without rainIs a man who boasts ¹of his gifts falsely.15 By ¹^aforbearance a ruler may be persuaded,And a soft tongue breaks the bone.16 Have you ^afound honey? Eat only ¹what you need,That you not have it in excess and vomit it.17 Let your foot rarely be in your neighbor’s house,Or he will become ¹weary of you and hate you.18 Like a club and a ^asword and a sharp ^barrowIs a man who bears ^cfalse witness against his neighbor.19 Like a bad tooth and ¹an unsteady footIs confidence in a ^afaithless man in time of trouble.20 Like one who takes off a garment on a cold day, or like vinegar on ¹soda,Is he who sings songs to ²a troubled heart.21 ^aIf ¹your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat;And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink;22 For you will ¹heap burning coals on his head,And ^athe LORD will reward you.23 The north wind brings forth rain,And a ¹^abackbiting tongue, an angry countenance.24 It is ^abetter to live in a corner of the roofThan ¹in a house shared with a contentious woman.25 Like cold water to a weary soul,So is ^agood news from a distant land.26 Like a ^atrampled spring and a ¹polluted wellIs a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.27 It is not good to eat much honey,Nor is it glory to ^asearch out ¹one’s own glory.28 Like a ^acity that is broken into and without wallsIs a man ^bwho has no control over his spirit.
