Reto de Dios a Job

Entonces continuó el SEÑOR y dijo a Job:

2 ¿Podrá el que censura contender con el Todopoderoso¹^a?El que reprende a Dios, responda^b a esto.

3 Entonces Job respondió al SEÑOR y dijo:4 He aquí, yo soy insignificante; ¿qué puedo yo responderte?Mi mano pongo sobre la boca^a.5 Una vez he hablado, y no responderé^a;aun dos veces, y no añadiré más.

6 Entonces el SEÑOR respondió a Job desde la tormenta y dijo^a:7 Ciñe ahora tus lomos como un hombre;yo te preguntaré, y tú me instruirás^a.8 ¿Anularás realmente mi juicio^a?¿Me condenarás^b para justificarte tú^c?9 ¿Acaso tienes tú un brazo como el de Dios,y truenas con una voz como la suya^a?

10 Adórnate ahora de majestad y dignidad,y vístete de gloria y de esplendor^a.11 Derrama los torrentes de tu ira^a,mira a todo soberbio y abátelo^b,12 mira a todo soberbio y humíllalo^a,y pisotea a los impíos donde están¹^b.13 Escóndelos juntos en el polvo^a;átalos¹ en el lugar oculto.14 Entonces yo también te confesaré¹que tu mano derecha te puede salvar.

15 He aquí ahora, Behemot¹, al cual hice^a como a ti²,que come hierba como el buey.16 He aquí ahora, su fuerza está en sus lomos,y su vigor en los músculos de su vientre.17 Mueve¹ su cola como un cedro;entretejidos están los tendones de sus muslos.18 Sus huesos son tubos de bronce;sus miembros¹ como barras de hierro.

19 Es la primera de las obras¹ de Dios^a;quesolo su hacedor^b le acerque su espada.20 Ciertamente alimento le traen los montes^a,y todas las bestias del campo retozan allí^b.21 Bajo los lotos se echa,en lo oculto de las cañas y del pantano.22 Lo cubren los lotos con su sombra;los sauces del arroyo lo rodean.23 Si el río ruge¹, él no se alarma;tranquilo está, aunque el Jordán^a se lance contra su boca.24 ¿Lo capturará alguien cuando está vigilando¹?¿Perforará alguien su nariz con garfios²?

Job: What Can I Say?

Then the LORD said to Job,

2 “Will the faultfinder ^acontend with the Almighty?Let him who ^breproves God answer it.”

3 Then Job answered the LORD and said,

4 “Behold, I am insignificant; what can I reply to You?I ^alay my hand on my mouth.5 “Once I have spoken, and ^aI will not answer;Even twice, and I will add nothing more.”

God Questions Job

6 Then the ^aLORD answered Job out of the storm and said,

7 “Now ^agird up your loins like a man;I will ^bask you, and you instruct Me.8 “Will you really ^aannul My judgment?Will you ^bcondemn Me ^cthat you may be justified?9 “Or do you have an arm like God,And can you ^athunder with a voice like His?

10 “^aAdorn yourself with eminence and dignity,And clothe yourself with honor and majesty.11 “Pour out ^athe overflowings of your anger,And look on everyone who is ^bproud, and make him low.12 “Look on everyone who is proud, and ^ahumble him,And ^btread down the wicked ¹where they stand.13 “^aHide them in the dust together;Bind ¹them in the hidden place.14 “Then I will also ¹confess to you,That your own right hand can save you.

God’s Power Shown in Creatures

15 “Behold now, ¹Behemoth, which ^aI made ²as well as you;He eats grass like an ox.16 “Behold now, his strength in his loinsAnd his power in the muscles of his belly.17 “He bends his tail like a cedar;The sinews of his thighs are knit together.18 “His bones are tubes of bronze;His ¹limbs are like bars of iron.

19 “He is the ^afirst of the ways of God;Let his ^bmaker bring near his sword.20 “Surely the mountains ^abring him food,And all the beasts of the field ^bplay there.21 “Under the lotus plants he lies down,In the covert of the reeds and the marsh.22 “The lotus plants cover him with ¹shade;The willows of the brook surround him.23 “If a river ¹rages, he is not alarmed;He is confident, though the ^aJordan rushes to his mouth.24 “Can anyone capture him ¹when he is on watch,With ²barbs can anyone pierce his nose?

Job Says What Can I Say?

Then the LORD said to Job,

3 Then Job answered the LORD and said,

4 “Behold, I am insignificant; what can I say in response to You?I ^aput my hand on my mouth.5 “I have spoken once, and ^aI will not reply;Or twice, and I will add nothing more.”

God Questions Job

6 Then the ^aLORD answered Job from the whirlwind and said,

7 “Now ¹^atighten the belt on your waist like a man;I will ^bask you, and you instruct Me.8 “Will you really ^anullify My judgment?Will you ^bcondemn Me ^cso that you may be justified?9 “Or do you have an arm like God,And can you ^athunder with a voice like His?

10 “^aAdorn yourself with pride and dignity,And clothe yourself with honor and majesty.11 “Let out your ^aoutbursts of anger,And look at everyone who is ^barrogant, and humble him.12 “Look at everyone who is arrogant, and ^ahumble him,And ^btrample down the wicked ¹where they stand.13 “^aHide them together in the dust;Imprison ¹them in the hidden place.14 “Then I will also ¹confess to you,That your own right hand can save you.
