Estos son los estatutos y los decretos¹ que observaréis cuidadosamente en la tierra que el SEÑOR, el Dios de tus padres, te ha dado para que la poseas todos los días que viváis sobre su² suelo^a. 2 Destruiréis completamente todos los lugares donde las naciones que desposeeréis sirven a sus dioses: sobre los montes altos, sobre las colinas y debajo de todo árbol frondoso^a. 3 Y demoleréis sus altares, quebraréis sus pilares sagrados, quemaréis a fuego sus imágenes de Asera¹, derribaréis las imágenes talladas de sus dioses^a y borraréis su nombre de aquel lugar^b. 4 No procederéis así con el SEÑOR vuestro Dios, 5 sino que buscaréis al SEÑOR en el lugar en que el SEÑOR vuestro Dios escoja de todas vuestras tribus, para poner allí su nombre para su morada, y allí vendréis^a. 6 Y allí traeréis vuestros holocaustos, vuestros sacrificios, vuestros diezmos^a, la contribución¹ de vuestra mano, vuestras ofrendas votivas², vuestras ofrendas voluntarias, y el primogénito de vuestras vacas y de vuestras ovejas. 7 Allí también vosotros y vuestras familias comeréis en presencia del SEÑOR vuestro Dios, y os alegraréis en todas vuestras empresas en las cuales¹ el SEÑOR vuestro Dios os ha bendecido^a. 8 De ninguna manera haréis lo que hacemos aquí hoy, que cada cual hace lo que le parece bien a sus propios ojos; 9 porque todavía no habéis llegado al lugar de reposo^a y a la heredad que el SEÑOR vuestro Dios os da^b. 10 Cuando crucéis el Jordán y habitéis en la tierra que el SEÑOR vuestro Dios os da en heredad, y Él os dé descanso de todos vuestros enemigos alrededor de vosotros para que habitéis seguros^a, 11 entonces sucederá que al lugar que el SEÑOR vuestro Dios escoja para morada de su nombre^a, allí traeréis todo lo que yo os mando: vuestros holocaustos y vuestros sacrificios, vuestros diezmos y la ofrenda alzada de vuestra mano, y todo lo más selecto de vuestras ofrendas votivas que habéis prometido al SEÑOR. 12 Y os alegraréis en presencia del SEÑOR vuestro Dios, vosotros, vuestros hijos y vuestras hijas, vuestros siervos y vuestras siervas^a, y el levita que vive dentro de vuestras puertas^b, ya que no tiene parte ni heredad entre vosotros^c. 13 Cuídate de no ofrecer tus holocaustos en cualquier lugar que veas, 14 sino en el lugar que el SEÑOR escoja en una de tus tribus, allí ofrecerás tus holocaustos^a, y allí harás todo lo que yo te mando.

15 Sin embargo, podrás matar y comer carne dentro de todas tus puertas, conforme a tu deseo¹, según la bendición que el SEÑOR tu Dios te ha dado^a; el inmundo y el limpio podrán comerla, como si fuera de gacela o de ciervo^b. 16 Solo que no comeréis la sangre^a; la derramaréis como agua sobre la tierra^b. 17 No te es permitido comer dentro de tus ciudades¹ el diezmo de tu grano, de tu mosto, o de tu aceite, ni de los primogénitos de tus vacas o de tus ovejas, ni ninguna de las ofrendas votivas^2a que prometas, ni tus ofrendas voluntarias, ni la ofrenda alzada de tu mano, 18 sino que lo comerás en presencia del SEÑOR tu Dios^a en el lugar que el SEÑOR tu Dios escoja^b, tú, tu hijo y tu hija, tu siervo y tu sierva, y el levita que vive dentro de tus puertas^c; y te alegrarás en presencia del SEÑOR tu Dios de toda la obra de tus manos^1d. 19 Cuídate de no desamparar al levita mientras vivas en tu tierra^a.

20 Cuando el SEÑOR tu Dios haya extendido tus fronteras como te ha prometido^a, y tú digas: «Comeré carne», porque deseas¹ comer carne, entonces podrás comer carne, toda la que desees². 21 Si el lugar que el SEÑOR tu Dios escoge para poner su nombre está muy lejos de ti, entonces podrás matar de tus vacas y de tus ovejas que el SEÑOR te ha dado, como te he ordenado, y podrás comer dentro de tus ciudades¹ todo lo que desees². 22 Tal como se come la gacela y el ciervo, así la podrás comer; el inmundo y el limpio podrán comer de ella. 23 Solo cuídate de no comer la sangre^a, porque la sangre es la vida¹, y no comerás la vida² con la carne. 24 No la comerás; la derramarás como agua sobre la tierra. 25 No la comerás, para que te vaya bien a ti y a tus hijos después de ti^a, porque estarás haciendo lo que es justo delante del SEÑOR^b. 26 Solamente las cosas sagradas que tengas y tus ofrendas votivas^1a, las tomarás e irás al lugar que el SEÑOR escoja. 27 Y ofrecerás tus holocaustos, la carne y la sangre, sobre el altar del SEÑOR tu Dios^a; y la sangre de tus sacrificios será derramada sobre el altar del SEÑOR tu Dios, y podrás comer la carne^b. 28 Escucha con cuidado todas estas palabras que te mando, para que te vaya bien a ti y a tus hijos después de ti para siempre^a, porque estarás haciendo lo que es bueno y justo delante del SEÑOR tu Dios.

29 Cuando el SEÑOR tu Dios haya destruido delante de ti las naciones que vas a desposeer^a, y las hayas desposeído y habites en su tierra, 30 cuídate de no caer en una trampa imitándolas¹, después que hayan sido destruidas delante de ti, y de no buscar² sus dioses, diciendo: «¿Cómo servían estas naciones a sus dioses para que yo haga lo mismo?». 31 No procederás así para con el SEÑOR tu Dios, porque toda acción abominable que el SEÑOR odia^a ellos la han hecho en honor de¹ sus dioses; porque aun a sus hijos y a sus hijas queman en el fuego en honor a sus dioses^b.

32 ¹Cuidarás de hacer todo lo que te mando^a; nada le añadirás ni le quitarás^b.

“These are the statutes and the judgments which you shall carefully observe in the land which the LORD, the God of your fathers, has given you to possess ^1aas long as you live on the ²earth. 2 You shall utterly destroy all the places where the nations whom you shall dispossess serve their gods, on the ^ahigh mountains and on the hills and under every green tree. 3 ^aYou shall tear down their altars and smash their sacred pillars and burn their ¹Asherim with fire, and you shall cut down the engraved images of their gods and ^bobliterate their name from that place. 4 You shall not act like this toward the LORD your God. 5 ^aBut you shall seek the LORD at the place which the LORD your God will choose from all your tribes, to establish His name there for His dwelling, and there you shall come. 6 There you shall bring your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, ^ayour tithes, the ¹contribution of your hand, your votive offerings, your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock. 7 There also you and your households shall eat before the LORD your God, and ^arejoice in all ¹your undertakings in which the LORD your God has blessed you.

8 “You shall not do at all what we are doing here today, ^aevery man doing whatever is right in his own eyes; 9 for you have not as yet come to ^athe resting place and the ^binheritance which the LORD your God is giving you. 10 When you cross the Jordan and live in the land which the LORD your God is giving you to inherit, and ^aHe gives you rest from all your enemies around you so that you live in security, 11 ^athen it shall come about that the place in which the LORD your God will choose for His name to dwell, there you shall bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings and your sacrifices, your tithes and the ¹contribution of your hand, and all your choice votive offerings which you will vow to the LORD. 12 And you shall ^arejoice before the LORD your God, you and your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, and the ^bLevite who is within your gates, since ^che has no portion or inheritance with you.

13 “^aBe careful that you do not offer your burnt offerings in every cultic place you see, 14 but in the place which the LORD chooses in one of your tribes, there you shall offer your burnt offerings, and there you shall do all that I command you.

15 “^aHowever, you may slaughter and eat meat within any of your gates, ¹whatever you desire, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which He has given you; the unclean and the clean may eat of it, as of ^bthe gazelle and the deer. 16 ^aOnly you shall not eat the blood; ^byou are to pour it out on the ground like water. 17 ^aYou are not allowed to eat within your gates the tithe of your grain or new wine or oil, or the firstborn of your herd or flock, or any of your votive offerings which you vow, or your freewill offerings, or the ¹contribution of your hand. 18 But ^ayou shall eat them before the LORD your God in ^bthe place which the LORD your God will choose, you and your son and daughter, and your male and female servants, and the ^cLevite who is within your gates; and you shall ^drejoice before the LORD your God in all ¹your undertakings. 19 ^aBe careful that you do not forsake the Levite ¹as long as you live in your land.

20 “When the LORD your God extends your border ^aas He has promised you, and you say, ‘I will eat meat,’ because ¹you desire to eat meat, then you may eat meat, ²whatever you desire. 21 If the place which the LORD your God chooses to put His name is too far from you, then you may slaughter of your herd and flock which the LORD has given you, as I have commanded you; and you may eat within your gates ¹whatever you desire. 22 Just as a gazelle or a deer is eaten, so you will eat it; the unclean and the clean alike may eat of it. 23 Only be sure ^anot to eat the blood, for the blood is the ¹life, and you shall not eat the ²life with the flesh. 24 You shall not eat it; you shall pour it out on the ground like water. 25 You shall not eat it, so that ^ait may be well with you and your sons after you, for ^byou will be doing what is right in the sight of the LORD. 26 ^aOnly your holy things which you may have and your votive offerings, you shall take and go to the place which the LORD chooses. 27 And ^ayou shall offer your burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, on the altar of the LORD your God; and the blood of your sacrifices shall be poured out on the altar of the LORD your God, and ^byou shall eat the flesh.

28 “Be careful to listen to all these words which I command you, so that ^ait may be well with you and your sons after you forever, for you will be doing what is good and right in the sight of the LORD your God.

29 “When ^athe LORD your God cuts off before you the nations which you are going in to dispossess, and you dispossess them and dwell in their land, 30 beware that you are not ensnared ¹to follow them, after they are destroyed before you, and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, ‘How do these nations serve their gods, that I also may do likewise?’ 31 ^aYou shall not behave thus toward the LORD your God, for every abominable act which the LORD hates they have done for their gods; for ^bthey even burn their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods.

32 “^1aWhatever I command you, you shall be careful to do; ^byou shall not add to nor take away from it.
