Por tanto, puesto que Cristo ha padecido en la carne^1a, armaos también vosotros con el mismo propósito^b, pues quien ha padecido en la carne^2c ha terminado con el pecado, 2 para vivir^a el tiempo que le queda en la carne^b, no ya para las pasiones humanas, sino para la voluntad de Dios. 3 Porque el tiempo ya pasado^a os es suficiente para haber hecho lo que agrada a los gentiles, habiendo andado en sensualidad, lujurias, borracheras, orgías, embriagueces y abominables¹ idolatrías^b. 4 Y en todo esto, se sorprenden de que no corráis con ellos en el mismo desenfreno de disolución^a, y os ultrajan^b; 5 pero ellos darán cuenta a aquel que está preparado para juzgar a los vivos y a los muertos^a. 6 Porque con este fin fue predicado¹ el evangelio aun a los muertos^a, para que aunque sean juzgados en la carne como hombres, vivan en el espíritu conforme a la voluntad de Dios.

7 Mas el fin de todas las cosas se acerca^1a; sed pues prudentes y de espíritu sobrio^b para la oración². 8 Sobre todo, sed fervientes en vuestro amor los unos por los otros^a, pues el amor cubre multitud de pecados^b. 9 Sed hospitalarios los unos para con los otros^a, sin murmuraciones^1b. 10 Según cada uno ha recibido un don especial^a, úselo sirviéndoos los unos a los otros como buenos administradores de la multiforme gracia de Dios^b. 11 El que habla^a, que hable conforme a¹ las palabras de Dios^b; el que sirve², que lo haga por³ la fortaleza que Dios da^c, para que en todo Dios sea glorificado mediante Jesucristo^d, a quien pertenecen la gloria y el dominio por los siglos de los siglos^e. Amén.

12 Amados^a, no os sorprendáis del fuego de prueba^b que en medio de vosotros ha venido para probaros, como si alguna cosa extraña os estuviera aconteciendo; 13 antes bien, en la medida en que compartís los padecimientos de Cristo^a, regocijaos, para que también en la revelación de su gloria^b os regocijéis con gran alegría^c. 14 Si sois vituperados por¹ el nombre de Cristo^a, dichosos sois^b, pues el Espíritu de gloria y de Dios^c reposa sobre vosotros. ²Ciertamente, por ellos Él es blasfemado, pero por vosotros es glorificado. 15 Que de ninguna manera sufra alguno de vosotros como homicida^a, o ladrón, o malhechor, o por entrometido^1b. 16 Pero si alguno sufre como cristiano^a, que no se avergüence, sino que como tal¹ glorifique a Dios^b. 17 Porque es tiempo de que el juicio comience^a por¹ la casa de Dios^b; y si comienza por² nosotros primero^c, ¿cuál será el fin de los que no obedecen^d al evangelio de Dios^e? 18 Y SI EL JUSTO CON DIFICULTAD SE SALVA, ¿QUÉ SERÁ DEL IMPÍO Y DEL¹ PECADOR^a? 19 Por consiguiente, los que sufren conforme a la voluntad de Dios^a, encomienden sus almas al fiel Creador, haciendo el bien.

Therefore, since ^aChrist has ¹suffered in the flesh, ^barm yourselves also with the same purpose, because ^che who has ²suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 ^aso as to live ^bthe rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the ^cwill of God. 3 For ^athe time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, ^1bhaving pursued a course of sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties and ²abominable idolatries. 4 In all this, they are surprised that you do not run with them into the same excesses of ^adissipation, and they ^bmalign you; 5 but they will give account to Him who is ready to judge ^athe living and the dead. 6 For ^athe gospel has for this purpose been ¹preached even to those who are dead, that though they are judged in the flesh as men, they may live in the spirit according to the will of God.

7 ^aThe end of all things ¹is near; therefore, ^bbe of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of ²prayer. 8 Above all, ^akeep fervent in your love for one another, because ^blove covers a multitude of sins. 9 ^aBe hospitable to one another without ^bcomplaint. 10 ^aAs each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good ^bstewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 ^aWhoever speaks, is to do so ¹as one who is speaking the ^butterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving ^2cby the strength which God supplies; so that ^din all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, ^eto whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

12 ^aBeloved, do not be surprised at the ^bfiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; 13 but to the degree that you ^ashare the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the ^brevelation of His glory ^cyou may rejoice with exultation. 14 If you are reviled ^1afor the name of Christ, ^byou are blessed, ^cbecause the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. 15 Make sure that ^anone of you suffers as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a ^1btroublesome meddler; 16 but if anyone suffers as a ^aChristian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to ^bglorify God in this name. 17 For it is time for judgment ^ato begin ¹with ^bthe household of God; and if it ^cbegins with us first, what will be the outcome for those ^dwho do not obey the ^egospel of God? 18 ^aAND IF IT IS WITH DIFFICULTY THAT THE RIGHTEOUS IS SAVED, ¹WHAT WILL BECOME OF THE ^bGODLESS MAN AND THE SINNER? 19 Therefore, those also who suffer according to ^athe will of God shall entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right.
