Juicio de Dios contra su pueblo

Oíd ahora lo que dice el SEÑOR:Levántate, litiga con los montes,y oigan las colinas tu voz.2 Oíd, montes, la acusación¹ del SEÑOR,y vosotros, perdurables cimientos de la tierra^a,porque el SEÑOR tiene litigio contra su pueblo,y con Israel entablará juicio^b.3 Pueblo mío^a, ¿qué te he hecho^b,o en qué te he molestado? ¡Respóndeme^c!4 Pues yo te hice subir de la tierra de Egipto^a,y de la casa de servidumbre¹ te redimí^b,y envié delante de ti a Moisés^c, a Aarón y a Miriam^d.5 Pueblo mío, acuérdate ahorade lo que maquinó Balac, rey de Moab,y de lo que le respondió Balaam, hijo de Beor^a,desde Sitim^b hasta Gilgal^c,para que conozcas¹ las justicias del SEÑOR^d.

La injusticia y su castigo

6 ¿Con qué me presentaré al SEÑOR^ay me postraré ante el Dios de lo alto?¿Me presentaré delante de Él con holocaustos^b,con becerros de un año?7 ¿Se agrada el SEÑOR de millares de carneros^a,de miríadas de ríos de aceite?¿Ofreceré¹ mi primogénito por mi rebeldía^b,el fruto de mis entrañas por el pecado de mi alma?8 Él te ha declarado^a, oh hombre, lo que es bueno.¿Y qué es lo que demanda el SEÑOR de ti^b,sinosolo practicar la justicia¹^c, amar la misericordia²^d,y andar humildemente con tu Dios^e?

9 La voz del SEÑOR clamará a la ciudad(prudente es temer tu nombre):Oíd, oh tribu, ¿quién ha señalado su tiempo¹?10 ¿Hay todavía alguien en casa del impíocon tesoros de impiedad^ay medida¹ escasa^b que es maldita?11 ¿Puedo justificar balanzas falsas¹^ay bolsa de pesas engañosas?12 Porque los¹ ricos de la ciudad están llenos de violencia^a,sus habitantes hablan mentiras^by su lengua es engañosa en su boca^c.13 Por eso yo también te haré enfermar^a, hiriéndote,asolándote^b por tus pecados.14 Tú comerás, pero no te saciarás^a,y tu vileza¹ estará en medio de ti.Apartarás, pero nada salvarás^b,y lo que salves, yo lo entregaré a la espada.15 Sembrarás, pero no segarás^a;pisarás la oliva, pero no te ungirás con aceite,y la uva, pero no beberás vino^b.16 Han sido guardados los estatutos de Omri^ay todas las obras de la casa de Acab^b,y andas en sus consejos^c.Por tanto te entregaré a la destrucción^d,y a tus¹ habitantes para burla^e,y soportaréis el oprobio de mi pueblo^f.

God’s Indictment of His People

Hear now what the LORD is saying,“Arise, plead your case ¹before the mountains,And let the hills hear your voice.2 “Listen, you mountains, to the indictment of the LORD,And you enduring ^afoundations of the earth,Because the ^bLORD has a case against His people;Even with Israel He will dispute.3 “^aMy people, ^bwhat have I done to you,And ^chow have I wearied you? Answer Me.4 “Indeed, I ^abrought you up from the land of EgyptAnd ^bransomed you from the house of slavery,And I sent before you ^cMoses, Aaron and ^dMiriam.5 “My people, remember nowWhat ^aBalak king of Moab counseledAnd what Balaam son of Beor answered him,And from ^bShittim to ^cGilgal,So ¹that you might know the ^drighteous acts of the LORD.”

What God Requires of Man

6 ^aWith what shall I come to the LORDAnd bow myself before the God on high?Shall I come to Him with ^bburnt offerings,With yearling calves?7 Does the LORD take delight in ^athousands of rams,In ten thousand rivers of oil?Shall I present my ^bfirstborn for my rebellious acts,The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?8 He has ^atold you, O man, what is good;And ^bwhat does the LORD require of youBut to ^cdo justice, to ^dlove ¹kindness,And to walk ²^ehumbly with your God?

9 The voice of the LORD will call to the city—And it is sound wisdom to fear Your name:“Hear, O tribe. Who has appointed ¹its time?10 “Is there yet a man in the wicked house,Along with treasures of ^awickednessAnd a ¹^bshort measure that is cursed?11 “Can I justify wicked ^ascalesAnd a bag of deceptive weights?12 “For the rich men of the ¹city are full of ^aviolence,Her residents speak ^blies,And their ^ctongue is deceitful in their mouth.13 “So also I will make you ^asick, striking you down,^bDesolating you because of your sins.14 “You will eat, but you will ^anot be satisfied,And your ¹vileness will be in your midst.You will try to remove for safekeeping,But you will ^bnot preserve anything,And what you do preserve I will give to the sword.15 “You will sow but you will ^anot reap.You will tread the olive but will not anoint yourself with oil;And the grapes, but you will ^bnot drink wine.16 “The statutes of ^aOmriAnd all the works of the house of ^bAhab are observed;And in their devices you ^cwalk.Therefore I will give you up for ^ddestructionAnd ¹your inhabitants for ^ederision,And you will bear the ^freproach of My people.”

6 ^aWith what shall I come to the LORDAnd bow myself before the God on high?Shall I come to Him with ^bburnt offerings,With yearling calves?7 Does the LORD take pleasure in ^athousands of rams,In ten thousand rivers of ¹oil?Shall I give Him my ^bfirstborn for my wrongdoings,The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?8 He has ^atold you, mortal one, what is good;And ^bwhat does the LORD require of youBut to ^cdo justice, to ^dlove ¹kindness,And to walk ²^ehumbly with your God?

9 The voice of the LORD will call to the city—And it is sound wisdom to fear Your name:“¹Hear, you tribe. Who has designated ²its time?10 “Is there still a person in the wicked house,Along with treasures of ^awickedness,And a ¹^bshort measure that is cursed?11 “Can I justify dishonest ^abalances,And a bag of fraudulent weights?12 “For the rich people of ¹the city are full of ^aviolence,Her residents speak ^blies,And their ^ctongue is deceitful in their mouth.13 “So also I will make you ^asick, striking you down,^bMaking you desolate because of your sins.14 “You will eat, but you will ^anot be satisfied,And your filth will be in your midst.You will try to remove valuables for safekeeping,But you will ^bnot save it all,And what you do save I will turn over to the sword.15 “You will sow but you will ^anot harvest.You will tread the olive press but will not anoint yourself with oil;And tread out sweet wine, but you will ^bnot drink any wine.16 “The statutes of ^aOmriAnd every work of the house of ^bAhab are maintained,And you ^cwalk by their plans.Therefore I will give you up for ^ddestruction,And ¹your inhabitants for ²^ederision,And you will suffer the ^ftaunting of My people.”

Hear now what the LORD is saying,“Arise, plead your case before the mountains,And let the hills as witnesses hear your voice.2 “Hear, O mountains, the indictment of the LORD,And you enduring ^afoundations of the earth,For the ^bLORD has a case (a legal complaint) against His people,And He will dispute (challenge) Israel.3 “O ^aMy people, ^bwhat have I done to you since you have turned away from Me?And ^chow have I wearied you? Answer Me.4 “For I ^abrought you up from the land of EgyptAnd ^bransomed you from the house of slavery,And I sent before you ^cMoses to lead you, Aaron the high priest, and ^dMiriam the prophetess.5 “My people, remember nowWhat ^aBalak king of Moab devised with his evil plan against IsraelAnd what Balaam the son of Beor answered him turning the curse into blessing for Israel,Remember what the LORD did for you from ¹^bShittim to ^cGilgal,So that you may know the ^drighteous and saving acts displaying the power of the LORD.” Num 23:7-24; 24:3-24; Josh 3:1; 4:19

What God Requires of Man

6 ^aWith what shall I come before the LORD to honor HimAnd bow myself before God on high?Shall I come before Him with ^bburnt offerings,With yearling calves?7 Will the LORD be delighted with ^athousands of rams,Or with ten thousand rivers of oil?Shall I present my ^bfirstborn for my acts of rebellion,The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?8 He has ^atold you, O man, what is good;And ^bwhat does the LORD require of youExcept to ^cbe just, and to ^dlove and to diligently practice kindness (compassion) ,And to ^ewalk humbly with your God setting aside any overblown sense of importance or self-righteousness? Deut 10:12, 13

9 The voice of the LORD shall call to the city of Jerusalem—And it is sound wisdom to heed solemnly and fear Your name with awe-filled reverence;“Hear, O tribe the rod of punishment. Who has appointed its time?10 “Are there not still treasures gained by ^awickednessIn the house of the wicked,And a ^bshort (inaccurate) measure for grain that is cursed? Deut 25:14-1611 “Can I be guiltless and justify deceptive ^ascalesAnd a bag of dishonest weights? 1+@Thess 4:612 “For the rich men of the city are full of ^aviolence of every kind;Her inhabitants speak ^bliesAnd their ^ctongue is deceitful in their mouth.13 “So also I will make you ^asick, striking you down,^bDesolating and devastating you, because of your sins.14 “You shall eat, but you will ^anot be satisfied,And your ¹emptiness shall be among you;You will try to remove your goods and those you love for safekeepingBut you will ^bfail to save anything,And what you do save I shall give to the sword.15 “You shall sow but you shall ^anot reap;You shall tread olives, but shall not anoint yourself with oil,And you will extract juice from the grapes, but you shall ^bnot drink the wine.16 “For you have kept the statutes of ^aOmri the idolatrous king,And all the works of the wicked house (dynasty) of ^bAhab;And you ^cwalk in their counsels and policies.Therefore, I shall hand you over for ^ddestruction and horrorAnd your city’s inhabitants for ^eridicule,And you shall bear the ^frebuke and scorn of My people.”
