¹¿Sacarás tú a Leviatán²^a con anzuelo,o sujetarás con cuerda su lengua?2 ¿Pondrás una soga¹ en su nariz,o perforarás su quijada con gancho²^a?3 ¿Acaso te hará muchas súplicas,o te hablará palabras sumisas?4 ¿Hará un pacto contigo?¿Lo tomarás como siervo para siempre?5 ¿Jugarás con él como con un pájaro,o lo atarás para tus doncellas?6 ¿Traficarán con él los comerciantes¹?¿Lo repartirán entre los mercaderes?7 ¿Podrás llenar su piel de arpones,o de lanzas de pescar su cabeza?8 Pon tu mano¹ sobre él;te acordarás de la batalla y no lo volverás a hacer².9 ¹He aquí, falsa es tu² esperanza;consolo verlo serás³ derribado.10 Nadie hay tan audaz que lo despierte^a;¿quién, pues, podrá estar delante de mí?11 ¿Quién me ha dado¹ algo para que yo se lo restituya^a?Cuanto existe debajo de todo el cielo es mío^b.

12 No dejaré de hablar de sus miembros,ni de su gran poder, ni de su agraciada figura.13 ¿Quién lo desnudará de su armadura exterior¹?¿Quién penetrará su doble malla²?14 ¿Quién abrirá las puertas de sus fauces¹?Alrededor de sus dientes hay terror.15 Sus fuertes escamas¹ son su orgullo,cerradas como con apretado sello.16 La una está tan cerca de la otraque el aire no puede penetrar entre ellas.17 Unidas están una a la otra;se traban entre sí y no pueden separarse.18 Sus estornudos dan destellos de luz,y sus ojos son como los párpados del alba^a.19 De su boca salen antorchas,chispas de fuego saltan.20 De sus narices sale humo,como de una olla que hierve sobre¹ juncos encendidos.21 Su aliento enciende carbones,y una llama sale de su boca.22 En su cuello reside el poder,y salta el desaliento delante de él.23 Unidos están los pliegues de su carne,firmes están en él e inamovibles.24 Su corazón es duro como piedra,duro como piedra de molino.25 Cuando él se levanta, los poderosos¹ tiemblan;a causa del estruendo quedan confundidos.26 La espada que lo alcance no puede prevalecer,ni la lanza, el dardo, o la jabalina.27 Estima el hierro como paja,el bronce como madera carcomida.28 No lo hace huir la flecha¹;en hojarasca se convierten para él las piedras de la honda.29 Como hojarasca son estimadas las mazas;se ríe del blandir de la jabalina.30 Por debajo¹ tiene como tiestos puntiagudos;se extiende² como trillo sobre el lodo.31 Hace hervir las profundidades como olla;hace el mar como redoma de ungüento.32 Detrás de sí hace brillar una estela;se diría que el abismo es canoso.33 Nada en la tierra¹ es semejante a él^a,que fue hecho sin temor.34 ¹Desafía² a todo ser altivo;él es rey sobre todos los hijos de orgullo^a.

“¹Can you draw out ²^aLeviathan with a fishhook?Or press down his tongue with a cord?2 “Can you ^aput a ¹rope in his noseOr pierce his jaw with a ²hook?3 “Will he make many supplications to you,Or will he speak to you soft words?4 “Will he make a covenant with you?Will you take him for a servant forever?5 “Will you play with him as with a bird,Or will you bind him for your maidens?6 “Will the ¹traders bargain over him?Will they divide him among the merchants?7 “Can you fill his skin with harpoons,Or his head with fishing spears?8 “Lay your hand on him;Remember the battle; ¹you will not do it again!9 “¹Behold, ²your expectation is false;Will ³you be laid low even at the sight of him?10 “No one is so fierce that he dares to ^aarouse him;Who then is he that can stand before Me?11 “Who has ¹^agiven to Me that I should repay him?Whatever is ^bunder the whole heaven is Mine.

12 “I will not keep silence concerning his limbs,Or his mighty strength, or his ¹orderly frame.13 “Who can ¹strip off his outer armor?Who can come within his double ²mail?14 “Who can open the doors of his face?Around his teeth there is terror.15 “His ¹strong scales are his pride,Shut up as with a tight seal.16 “One is so near to anotherThat no air can come between them.17 “They are joined one to another;They clasp each other and cannot be separated.18 “His sneezes flash forth light,And his eyes are like the ^aeyelids of the morning.19 “Out of his mouth go burning torches;Sparks of fire leap forth.20 “Out of his nostrils smoke goes forthAs from a boiling pot and burning rushes.21 “His breath kindles coals,And a flame goes forth from his mouth.22 “In his neck lodges strength,And dismay leaps before him.23 “The folds of his flesh are joined together,Firm on him and immovable.24 “His heart is as hard as a stone,Even as hard as a lower millstone.25 “When he raises himself up, the ¹mighty fear;Because of the crashing they are bewildered.26 “The sword that reaches him cannot avail,Nor the spear, the dart or the javelin.27 “He regards iron as straw,Bronze as rotten wood.28 “The ¹arrow cannot make him flee;Slingstones are turned into stubble for him.29 “Clubs are regarded as stubble;He laughs at the rattling of the javelin.30 “His underparts are like sharp potsherds;He ¹spreads out like a threshing sledge on the mire.31 “He makes the depths boil like a pot;He makes the sea like a jar of ointment.32 “Behind him he makes a wake to shine;One would think the deep to be gray-haired.33 “^aNothing on ¹earth is like him,One made without fear.34 “¹He looks on everything that is high;He is king over all the ^asons of pride.”

Who can have a claim against Me who made the unmastered beast? Rom 11:35

12 “I will not keep silence concerning his limbs,Nor his mighty strength, nor his orderly frame.13 “Who can penetrate or strip off his outer armor?Who can come to his jaws with a double bridle?14 “Who can open the doors (jaws) of his face?Around his open jaws and teeth there is terror.15 “His strong scales are his pride,Bound together as with a tight seal.16 “One is so near to anotherThat no air can come between them.17 “They are joined one to another;They stick together and cannot be separated.18 “His sneezes flash forth light,And his eyes are like the reddish ^aeyelids of the dawn.19 “Out of his mouth go burning torches,And sparks of fire leap out.20 “Out of his nostrils smoke goes forthAs from a boiling pot and as from burning rushes.21 “His breath kindles coals,And a flame goes forth from his mouth.22 “In Leviathan’s neck resides strength,And dismay and terror dance before him.23 “The folds of his flesh are joined together,Firm on him and immobile when he moves.24 “His heart is as hard as a stone,Indeed, as solid as a lower millstone.25 “When he raises himself up, the mighty are afraid;Because of the crashing they are bewildered.26 “The sword that reaches him cannot avail,Nor does the spear, the dart, or the javelin.27 “He considers iron as straw,Bronze as rotten wood.28 “The arrow cannot make him flee;Slingstones are treated as stubble by him.29 “Clubs also are regarded as stubble;He laughs at the rushing and the rattling of the javelin.30 “His underparts are like sharp pieces of broken pottery;He moves across and spreads out grooves like a threshing sledge on the mire (muddy river banks) .31 “He makes the deep water boil like a pot;He makes the sea like a foaming pot of ointment.32 “Behind him he makes a shining wake;One would think the deep to be gray-haired with foam.33 “^aUpon earth there is nothing like him—no equal exists,A creature made without fear.34 “He looks on everything that is high without terror;He is monarch over all the ^asons of pride. And now, Job, ¹who are you who does not dare to disturb the beast, yet who dares resist Me, the beast’s creator? Everything under the heavens is Mine; therefore, who can have a claim against God?”
