Cántico de Moisés
Prestad atención, oh cielos, y dejadme hablar;y escuche la tierraa las palabras de mi boca.2 Caiga como la lluvia mi enseñanzaa,y destile como el rocíob mi discurso,como llovizna sobre el verde pradoy como aguacero sobre la hierba.3 Porque yo proclamo el nombre del SEÑORa;atribuid grandeza a nuestro Diosb.4 ¡La Roca! Su obra es perfectaa,porque todos sus caminos son justos1b;Dios de fidelidadc y sin injusticia,justo y recto es Él.5 En forma corrompida se han1 portado con Él.No son sus hijosa, debido a los defectos de ellos;son una generación perversa y torcidab.6 ¿Así pagáis al SEÑOR,oh pueblo insensato e ignorantea?¿No es Él tu padre que te comprób?Él te hizoc y te estableció.7 Acuérdate de los días de antaño;considera los años de todas las generaciones.Pregunta a tu padre, y él te lo hará saber;a tus ancianos, y ellos te lo dirána.8 Cuando el Altísimo dio a las naciones su herencia,cuando separó los hijos del hombre1a,fijó los límites de los pueblossegún el número de los hijos de Israelb.9 Pues la porción del SEÑOR es su pueblo;Jacob es la parte de su heredada.10 Lo encontró en tierra desierta,en la horrenda1 soledad de un desiertoa;lo rodeó, cuidó de él,lo guardó como a la niña de sus ojosb.11 Como un águila que despierta su nidada,que revolotea sobre sus polluelosa,extendió sus alas y los tomób,los llevó sobre su plumaje.12 El SEÑOR soloa lo guio,y con él no hubo dios extranjerob.13 Lo hizo cabalgar sobre las alturas de la tierra,y comió el producto del campoa;le hizo gustar1 miel de la peñab,y aceite del2 pedernalc,14 cuajada de vacas y leche de ovejas,con grosura de corderos,y carneros de raza de Basán y machos cabríos,con lo mejor del trigoa;y de la sangre de uvas bebiste vinob.
15 Pero Jesurún1 engordó y dio coces(has engordado, estás cebado y rollizoa);entonces abandonó a Diosb que lo hizoc,y menospreció a la Roca de su salvaciónd.16 Le provocaron a celos con dioses extrañosa,con abominaciones le provocaron a irab.17 Ofrecieron sacrificios a demoniosa, no a Dios,a dioses que no habían conocidob,dioses nuevosc que vinieron recientemente,a los que vuestros padres no temieron.18 Despreciaste a la Rocaa que te engendró,y olvidaste al Dios que te dio a luzb.
19 Y el SEÑOR vio esto, y se llenó de ira1aa causa de la provocación de sus hijos y de sus hijasb.20 Entonces Él dijo: «Esconderé de ellos mi rostro,veré cuál será su fina;porque son una generación perversab,hijos en los cuales no hay fidelidadc.21 »Ellos me han provocado a celo con lo que no es Dios;me han irritadoa con sus ídolos1b.Yo, pues, los provocaré a celos con los que no son un pueblo;los irritaré con una nación insensatac,22 porque fuego se ha encendido en mi ira,que quema hasta las profundidades del Seol1a,consume la tierra con su frutob,e incendia los fundamentos de los montes.
23 »Amontonaré calamidadesa sobre ellos,emplearé en ellos mis saetasb.24 »Serán debilitados por el hambre, y consumidos por la plaga1ay destrucción amargab;dientes de fieras enviaré sobre ellosc,con veneno de serpientes que se arrastran en el polvod.25 »Afuera traerá duelo la espadaa,y dentro el terror,tanto al joven como a la virgen,al niño de pecho como al hombre encanecidob.26 »Yo hubiera dicho: “Los haré pedazosa,borraré la memoria de ellos de entre los hombresb”,27 si no hubiera temido la provocación del enemigoa,no sea que entendieran mal sus adversarios,no sea que dijeran: “Nuestra mano ha triunfado1,y no es el SEÑOR el que ha hecho todo esto”».
28 Porque son una nación privada1 de consejo,y no hay en ellos inteligenciaa.29 Ojalá que fueran sabios, que comprendieran estoa,que discernieran su futuro1b.30 ¿Cómo es que uno puede perseguir a mil,y dos hacer huir a diez mila,si su Roca no los hubiera vendidob,y el SEÑOR no los hubiera entregado?31 En verdad, su roca no es como nuestra Roca;aun nuestros mismos enemigos así lo juzgan1a.32 Porque la vid de ellos es de la vid de Sodomay de los campos de Gomorra;sus uvas son uvas venenosas,sus racimos, amargosa.33 Su vino es veneno de serpientes,y ponzoña mortal1 de cobras.
34 «¿No tengo yo esto guardado conmigo,sellado en mis tesorosa?35 »Mía es la venganza y la retribucióna;a su tiempo el pie de ellos resbalaráb,porque el día de su calamidad está cercac,ya se apresura lo que les está preparado».36 Porque el SEÑOR vindicará a su puebloay tendrá compasión de sus siervosb,cuando vea que su fuerza1 se ha ido,y que nadie queda, ni siervo ni libre.37 Dirá Él entonces: «¿Dónde están sus diosesa,la roca en que buscaban refugio,38 los que comían la grosura de sus sacrificios,y bebían el vino de su libacióna?¡Que se levanten y os ayuden!¡Que sean ellos vuestro refugiob!39 »Ved ahora que yo, yo soy el Señor1a,y fuera de mí no hay diosb.Yo hago morir y hago vivirc.Yo hiero y yo sanod,y no hay quien pueda librare de mi mano.40 »Ciertamente, alzo a los cielos mi manoa,y digo: Como que vivo yo para siempre,41 cuando afile mi espada flameante1y mi mano empuñe la justiciaa,me vengaré de mis adversariosy daré el pago a los que me aborrecenb.42 »Embriagaré mis saetasa con sangre,y mi espada se hartará de carne,de sangre de muertos y cautivosb,de los jefes1 de larga cabellera del enemigo».43 Regocijaos, naciones, con su puebloa,porque Él vengará la sangre de sus siervosb;traerá venganza sobre sus adversariosc,y hará expiación por su tierra y su pueblod.
Se ordena a Moisés subir al monte Nebo

44 Entonces llegó Moisés y habló todas las palabras de este cántico a oídos del pueblo, él, con Josué1, hijo de Nuna. 45 Cuando terminó Moisés de hablar todas estas palabras a todo Israel, 46 les dijo: Fijad en vuestro corazón todas las palabras con que os advierto1 hoya, las cuales ordenaréis a vuestros hijos que las obedezcan cuidadosamente2, todas las palabras de esta leyb. 47 Porque no es palabra inútil para vosotros; ciertamente es vuestra vidaa. Por esta palabra prolongaréis vuestros días en la tierra adonde vosotros vais, cruzando el Jordán a fin de poseerlab.

48 aEn aquel mismo día, habló el SEÑOR a Moisés, diciendo: 49 Sube a estos montesa de Abarim, al monte Nebo, que está en la tierra de Moab frente1 a Jericó, y mira hacia la tierra de Canaán, la cual doy a los hijos de Israel en posesión. 50 Morirás en el monte al cual subes, y serás reunido a tu puebloa, así como murió tu hermano Aarón sobre el monte Hor, y fue reunido a su pueblo; 51 porque me fuisteis infieles en medio de los hijos de Israela en las aguas de Meriba de Cades, en el desierto de Zinb, porque no me santificasteis en medio de los hijos de Israel. 52 Por tanto,solo de lejos verás la tierraa, pero allí no entrarás, a la tierra que doy a los hijos de Israelb.

His work is perfect,bFor all His ways are 1just;cA God of faithfulness and without injustice,Righteous and upright is He.5 “1aThey have acted corruptly toward Him,They are not His children, because of their defect;bBut are a perverse and crooked generation.6 “Do you thus arepay the LORD,bO foolish and unwise people?cIs not He your Father who has bought you?dHe has made you and established you.7 “Remember the days of old,Consider the years of all generations.aAsk your father, and he will inform you,Your elders, and they will tell you.8 “aWhen the Most High gave the nations their inheritance,When He separated the sons of 1man,He set the boundaries of the peoplesbAccording to the number of the sons of Israel.9 “aFor the LORD’S portion is His people;Jacob is the allotment of His inheritance.10 “aHe found him in a desert land,And in the howling waste of a wilderness;He encircled him, He cared for him,He guarded him as bthe pupil of His eye.11 “aLike an eagle that stirs up its nest,That hovers over its young,bHe spread His wings and caught them,He carried them on His pinions.12 “aThe LORD alone guided him,bAnd there was no foreign god with him.13 “aHe made him ride on the high places of the earth,And he ate the produce of the field;bAnd He made him suck honey from the rock,And coil from the flinty rock,14 Curds of cows, and milk of the flock,With fat of lambs,And rams, the breed of Bashan, and goats,aWith the finest of the wheat—And of the bblood of grapes you drank wine.
15 “aBut 1Jeshurun grew fat and kicked—You are grown fat, thick, and sleek—bThen he forsook God cwho made him,And scorned dthe Rock of his salvation.16 “aThey made Him jealous with strange gods;bWith abominations they provoked Him to anger.17 “aThey sacrificed to demons who were not God,bTo gods whom they have not known,cNew gods who came lately,Whom your fathers did not dread.18 “You neglected athe Rock who begot you,bAnd forgot the God who gave you birth.
19 “aThe LORD saw this, and spurned thembBecause of the provocation of His sons and daughters.20 “Then He said, ‘I will hide My face from them,aI will see what their end shall be;bFor they are a perverse generation,cSons in whom is no faithfulness.21 ‘aThey have made Me jealous with what is not God;They have provoked Me to anger with their 1bidols.cSo I will make them jealous with those who are not a people;I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation,22 aFor a fire is kindled in My anger,And burns to the lowest part of 1Sheol,bAnd consumes the earth with its yield,And sets on fire the foundations of the mountains.
23 ‘aI will heap misfortunes on them;bI will use My arrows on them.24 ‘aThey will be wasted by famine, and consumed by 1plaguebAnd bitter destruction;cAnd the teeth of beasts I will send upon them,dWith the venom of crawling things of the dust.25 ‘aOutside the sword will bereave,And inside terror—bBoth young man and virgin,The nursling with the man of gray hair.26 ‘I would have said, “aI will cut them to pieces,bI will remove the memory of them from men,”27 Had I not feared the provocation by the enemy,That their adversaries would misjudge,That they would say, “aOur hand is 1triumphant,And the LORD has not done all this.”’
28 “aFor they are a nation 1lacking in counsel,And there is no understanding in them.29 “aWould that they were wise, that they understood this,bThat they would discern their 1future!30 “aHow could one chase a thousand,And two put ten thousand to flight,Unless their bRock had sold them,And the LORD had given them up?31 “Indeed their rock is not like our Rock,aEven our enemies 1themselves judge this.32 “For their vine is from the vine of Sodom,And from the fields of Gomorrah;Their grapes are grapes of apoison,Their clusters, bitter.33 “Their wine is the venom of 1serpents,And the 2deadly poison of cobras.
34 ‘aIs it not laid up in store with Me,Sealed up in My treasuries?35 ‘aVengeance is Mine, and retribution,bIn due time their foot will slip;cFor the day of their calamity is near,And the impending things are hastening upon them.’36 “aFor the LORD will vindicate His people,bAnd will have compassion on His servants,When He sees that their 1strength is gone,And there is none remaining, bond or free.37 “And He will say, ‘aWhere are their gods,The rock in which they sought refuge?38 ‘aWho ate the fat of their sacrifices,And drank the wine of their drink offering?bLet them rise up and help you,Let them be your hiding place!39 ‘aSee now that I, I am He,bAnd there is no god besides Me;cIt is I who put to death and give life.dI have wounded and it is I who heal,eAnd there is no one who can deliver from My hand.40 ‘Indeed, aI lift up My hand to heaven,And say, as I live forever,41 aIf I sharpen My 1flashing sword,And My hand takes hold on justice,bI will render vengeance on My adversaries,And I will repay those who hate Me.42 ‘aI will make My arrows drunk with blood,bAnd My sword will devour flesh,With the blood of the slain and the captives,From the long-haired 1leaders of the enemy.’43 “aRejoice, O nations, with His people;bFor He will avenge the blood of His servants,cAnd will render vengeance on His adversaries,dAnd will atone for His land and His people.”

44 Then Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the hearing of the people, he, with 1aJoshua the son of Nun. 45 When Moses had finished speaking all these words to all Israel, 46 he said to them, “aTake to your heart all the words with which I am warning you today, which you shall command byour sons to observe 1carefully, even all the words of this law. 47 For it is not an idle word for you; indeed ait is your life. And bby this word you will prolong your days in the land, 1which you are about to cross the Jordan to 2possess.”

48 aThe LORD spoke to Moses that very same day, saying, 49 “aGo up to this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab 1opposite Jericho, and look at the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the sons of Israel for a possession. 50 Then die on the mountain where you ascend, and be agathered to your people, as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people, 51 abecause you broke faith with Me in the midst of the sons of Israel at the waters of Meribah-kadesh, in the bwilderness of Zin, because you did not treat Me as holy in the midst of the sons of Israel. 52 aFor you shall see the land at a distance, but byou shall not go there, into the land which I am giving the sons of Israel.”

23 ‘aI will add misfortunes to them;bI will use up My arrows on them.24 ‘aThey will be wasted by famine, and emaciated by 1plaguebAnd a bitter epidemic;cAnd the teeth of beasts I will send against them,dWith the venom of crawling things of the dust.25 ‘aOutside the sword will make them childless,And inside, terror—bBoth young man and virgin,The nursing child with the man of gray hair.26 ‘I would have said, “aI will wipe them out,bI will remove the mention of 1their name from humanity,”27 Had I not feared the provocation by the enemy,That their adversaries would misjudge,That they would say, “aOur hand is 1triumphant,And the LORD has not performed all this.”’

34 ‘aIs it not stored up with Me,Sealed up in My treasuries?35 ‘aVengeance is Mine, and retribution;bIn due time their foot will slip.cFor the day of their disaster is near,And the impending things are hurrying to them.’36 “aFor the LORD will vindicate His people,bAnd will have compassion on His servants,When He sees that their 1strength is gone,And there is none remaining, bond or free.37 “And He will say, ‘aWhere are their gods,The rock in which they took refuge?38 ‘aThose who ate the fat of their sacrifices,And drank the wine of their drink offering?bLet them rise up and help you,Let them be your protection!39 ‘aSee now that I, I am He,bAnd there is no god besides Me;cIt is I who put to death and give life.dI have wounded and it is I who heal,eAnd there is no one who can save anyone from My hand.40 ‘Indeed, aI raise My hand to heaven,And say, as I live forever,41 aIf I have sharpened 1My flashing sword,And My hand has taken hold of justice,bI will return vengeance on My adversaries,And I will repay those who hate Me.42 ‘aI will make My arrows drunk with blood,bAnd My sword will devour flesh,With the blood of the slain and the captives,From the long-haired 1leaders of the enemy.’43 “aRejoice, you nations, with His people;bFor He will avenge the blood of His servants,cAnd will return vengeance on His adversaries,dAnd will atone for His land and His people.”

44 Then Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the hearing of the people, he, with 1aJoshua the son of Nun. 45 When Moses had finished speaking all these words to all Israel, 46 he said to them, “aTake to your heart all the words with which I am warning you today, which you will command byour sons to 1follow carefully, all the words of this Law. 47 For it is not a 1trivial matter for you; indeed ait is your life. And bby this word you will prolong your days in the land, 2which you are about to cross the Jordan to 3possess.”

48 Now athe LORD spoke to Moses that very same day, saying, 49 “aGo up to this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab 1opposite Jericho, and look at the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the sons of Israel as a possession. 50 Then you are to die on the mountain where you ascend, and be agathered to your people, as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people, 51 abecause you broke faith with Me in the midst of the sons of Israel at the waters of Meribah-kadesh, in the bwilderness of Zin, because you did not treat Me as holy in the midst of the sons of Israel. 52 aFor you will see the land at a distance but byou will not go there, into the land which I am giving the sons of Israel.”

15 “aBut Jeshurun (Israel) became fat and kicked at God.You became fat, thick, sleek, and obstinate!bThen he abandoned God cwho had made him,And scorned dthe Rock of his salvation.16 “aThey provoked Him to jealousy with strange gods by denying Him the honor and loyalty that is rightfully and uniquely His;bAnd with repulsive acts they provoked Him to anger.17 “aThey sacrificed to demons, not to God,bTo gods whom they have not known,New cgods who came lately,Whom your fathers never feared.18 “You were unmindful of athe Rock who bore you,And you bforgot the God who gave you birth.
19 “aThe LORD saw it, and rejected them,bOut of indignation with His sons and His daughters.20 “Then He said, ‘I will hide My face from them,aI will see what their end shall be;bFor they are a perverse generation,cSons in whom there is no faithfulness.21 ‘aThey have made Me 1jealous with what is not God;They have provoked Me to anger with their bidols.cSo I will make them jealous with those who are not a people;I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.22 ‘aFor a fire is kindled by My anger,And it burns to the depths of Sheol (the place of the dead, the nether world) ,It bdevours the earth with its yield,And sets on fire the foundations of the mountains.
23 ‘aI will heap misfortunes on them;bI will use My arrows on them.24 ‘aThey will be wasted by hunger, and consumed by plaguebAnd a bitter destruction;cAnd I will send the teeth of beasts against them,dWith the venom of crawling things of the dust.25 ‘aOutside the sword will bereave,And inside the chambers terror—bFor both young man and virgin,For the nursing child and the man of gray hair.26 ‘I would have said, “aI will cut them to pieces scattering them far away,I bwill remove the memory of them from men,”27 Had I not feared the provocation of the enemy,That their adversaries would misjudge,That they would say, “aOur own hand has prevailed,And the LORD has not done all this.”’
28 “aFor they are a nation devoid of counsel,And there is no understanding in them.29 “O athat they were wise, that they understood this,That they could discern btheir future and ultimate fate!30 “aHow could one chase a thousand,And two put ten thousand to flight,Unless their bRock had sold them,And the LORD had given them up?31 “For their rock is not like our Rock,aEven our enemies themselves judge this.32 “For their vine is from the vine of Sodom,And from the fields of Gomorrah;Their grapes are grapes of apoison,Their clusters, bitter.33 “Their wine is the venom of serpents,And the deadly poison of vipers.
34 ‘aIs it not laid up in store with Me,Sealed up in My treasuries?35 ‘aVengeance is Mine, and retribution,bIn due time their foot will slip;cFor the day of their disaster is at hand,And their doom hurries to meet them.’36 “aFor the LORD will vindicate His people,bAnd will have compassion on His servants,When He sees that their strength (hand) is gone,And none remains, whether bond or free.37 “And He will say, ‘aWhere are their gods,The rock in which they took refuge?38 ‘aWho ate the fat of their sacrifices,And drank the wine of their drink offering?bLet them rise up and help you,Let them be your hiding place!39 ‘aSee now that I, I am He,bAnd there is no god besides Me;cIt is I who put to death and I who give life.dI have wounded and it is I who heal,eAnd there is no one who can deliver from the power of My hand.40 ‘Indeed, aI lift up My hand to heaven,And say (swear an oath) , as I live forever,41 aIf I sharpen the lightning of My sword,And My hand takes hold of judgment,bI will render vengeance on My adversaries,And I will repay those who hate Me.42 ‘aI will make My arrows drunk with blood,bAnd My sword will devour flesh,With the blood of the slain and the captives,From the heads of the leaders of the enemy.’43 “aRejoice, O nations, with His people;bFor He will avenge the blood of His servants,cAnd will render vengeance on His adversaries,dAnd will atone for His land and His people.”

44 Then Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the hearing of the people, he and 1aJoshua the son of Nun. 45 When Moses had finished speaking all these words to all the people of Israel, 46 he said to them, “aTake to heart all the words of warning which I am speaking to you today; and you shall command byour children to observe them carefully—to do all the words of this law. 47 For it is not an empty or trivial matter for you; indeed ait is your very life. By honoring and obeying bthis word you will live long in the land, which you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”

48 And athe LORD said to Moses that very same day, 49 “aGo up to this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab opposite Jericho, and look at the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the sons of Israel as a possession. 50 Then die on the mountain which you climb, and be agathered to your people in death, just as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people, 51 abecause you broke faith with Me among of the sons of Israel at the waters of Meribah-kadesh, in the bWilderness of Zin, and because you did not treat Me as holy among of the sons of Israel. Num 20:8-12; 27:14 52 aFor you shall see the land opposite you from a distance, but byou shall not go there, into the land which I am giving to the children of Israel.”
