Así dice el SEÑOR:Por tres transgresiones de Moab, y por cuatro,no revocaré¹ su castigo^a,porque quemó los huesos del rey de Edom^b hasta calcinarlos.

2 Enviaré, pues, fuego sobre Moab,que consumirá los palacios¹ de Queriot^a,y Moab morirá^b entre el tumulto,entre gritos de guerra y sonido de trompeta.3 También extirparé al juez^a de en medio de ella,y mataré a todos sus príncipes con él^b—dice el SEÑOR.

Juicio contra Judá e Israel

4 Así dice el SEÑOR:Por tres transgresiones de Judá, y por cuatro,no revocaré su castigo^a,porque desecharon la ley del SEÑORy no guardaron sus estatutos^b;también les han hecho errar sus mentiras¹^c,tras las cuales anduvieron sus padres^d.5 Enviaré, pues, fuego sobre Judá,y consumirá los palacios¹ de Jerusalén^a.

6 Así dice el SEÑOR:Por tres transgresiones de Israel, y por cuatro,no revocaré su castigo^a,porque venden al justo por dineroy al necesitado por un par de sandalias^b.7 Los que pisotean en el polvo de la tierra¹ la cabeza de los desvalidos^a,también tuercen el camino de los humildes^b.Un hombre y su padre se llegan² a la misma joven³^cprofanando mi santo nombre;8 sobre ropas empeñadas^a se tienden junto a cualquier altar^b,y el vino de los que han sido multados beben en la casa de su Dios¹^c.

9 Yo destruí al amorreo delante de ellos^a,cuya altura era como la altura de los cedros^b,y era fuerte como las encinas;yo destruí su fruto por arriba y su raíz por abajo^c.10 Y a vosotros yo os hice subir de la tierra de Egipto^a,y os conduje por el desierto cuarenta años^bpara que tomarais posesión de la tierra del amorreo^c.11 Y levanté profetas de entre vuestros hijos^ay nazareos de entre vuestros jóvenes^b.¿No es así, hijos de Israel?—declara el SEÑOR.12 Pero vosotros hicisteis beber vino a los nazareos,y a los profetas les ordenasteis, diciendo: No profeticéis^a.13 He aquí, yo estoy oprimido¹ debajo de vosotros^acomo está oprimida² una carreta llena de gavillas.14 Y la huida¹ le fallará al ligero^a,y el fuerte no fortalecerá su poder,ni el valiente salvará su vida²^b.15 El que empuña el arco no resistirá^a,el ligero de pies no escapará,ni el que monta a caballo salvará su vida¹^b.16 Y aun el más intrépido¹ entre los valientes huirá^a desnudo aquel día—declara el SEÑOR.

Judgment on Judah and Israel

Thus says the LORD,“For three transgressions of ^aMoab and for fourI will not ¹revoke its punishment,Because he ^bburned the bones of the king of Edom to lime.2 “So I will send fire upon MoabAnd it will consume the citadels of ^aKerioth;And Moab will die amid ^btumult,With ¹war cries and the sound of a trumpet.3 “I will also cut off the ¹^ajudge from her midstAnd slay all her ^bprinces with him,” says the LORD.

4 Thus says the LORD,“For three transgressions of ^aJudah and for fourI will not revoke its punishment,Because they ^brejected the law of the LORDAnd have not kept His statutes;Their ¹^clies also have led them astray,Those after which their ^dfathers walked.5 “So I will ^asend fire upon JudahAnd it will consume the citadels of Jerusalem.”

6 Thus says the LORD,“For three transgressions of ^aIsrael and for fourI will not revoke its punishment,Because they ^bsell the righteous for moneyAnd the needy for a pair of sandals.7 “These who ¹pant after the very dust of the earth on the head of the ^ahelplessAlso ^bturn aside the way of the humble;And a ^cman and his father ²resort to the same ³girlIn order to profane My holy name.8 “On garments ^ataken as pledges they stretch out beside ^bevery altar,And in the house of their God they ^cdrink the wine of those who have been fined.

9 “Yet it was I who destroyed the ^aAmorite before them,¹Though his ^bheight was like the height of cedarsAnd he was strong as the oaks;I even destroyed his ^cfruit above and his root below.10 “It was I who ^abrought you up from the land of Egypt,And I led you in the wilderness ^bforty years¹That you might take possession of the land of the ^cAmorite.11 “Then I ^araised up some of your sons to be prophetsAnd some of your young men to be ^bNazirites.Is this not so, O sons of Israel?” declares the LORD.12 “But you made the Nazirites drink wine,And you commanded the prophets saying, ‘You ^ashall not prophesy!’13 “Behold, I am ¹^aweighted down beneath youAs a wagon ²is weighted down when filled with sheaves.14 “¹^aFlight will perish from the swift,And the stalwart will not strengthen his power,Nor the ^bmighty man save his ²life.15 “He who ^agrasps the bow will not stand his ground,The swift of foot will not escape,Nor will he who rides the ^bhorse save his ¹life.16 “Even the ¹bravest among the warriors will ^aflee naked in that day,” declares the LORD.

Judgment on Moab

Thus says the LORD,“For three transgressions of ¹^aMoab and for four (multiplied delinquencies)I will not reverse its punishment or revoke My word concerning it,Because he ^bburned the bones of the king of Edom Esau’s descendant into lime and used it to plaster a Moabite house.2 “So I will send a fire of war, conquest, and destruction upon MoabAnd it shall devour the strongholds of ^aKerioth;And Moab shall die amid ^btumult and uproar,With war cries and shouts of alarm and the sound of the trumpet.3 “I will also cut off and destroy the ^aruler from its midstAnd slay all the ^bprinces with him,” says the LORD.

4 Thus says the LORD,“For three transgressions of ^aJudah and for four (multiplied delinquencies)I will not reverse its punishment or revoke My word concerning it,Because they have ^brejected the law of the LORD the sum of God’s instruction to His peopleAnd have not kept His commandments;But their ^clies and their idols, after which their ^dfathers walked,Caused them to go astray.5 “So I will send a ^afire of war, conquest, and destruction by the Babylonians upon JudahAnd it will devour the strongholds of Jerusalem.”

6 Thus says the LORD,“For three transgressions of ^aIsrael and for four (multiplied delinquencies)I will not reverse its punishment or revoke My word concerning it,Because they ^bsell the righteous and innocent for silverAnd the needy for the price of a pair of sandals.7 “These who pant after (long to see) the dust of the earth on the head of the ^ahelpless as sign of their grief and distressAlso ^bturn aside the way of the humble;And a ^cman and his father will go to the same ¹girlSo that My holy name is profaned.8 “They stretch out beside ^aevery pagan altar on clothes ^btaken in pledge to secure a loan, disregarding God’s command,And in the house of their God in contempt of Him they frivolously ^cdrink the wine which has been taken from those who have been fined. Ex 22:26; Deut 24:12, 13

9 “Yet it was I not the false gods who destroyed the ^aAmorite before them,Though his ^bheight was like the height of the cedars,And he was as strong as the oaks;I even destroyed his ^cfruit above and his root below.10 “Also it was I who ^abrought you up out of the land of Egypt,And I led you ^bforty years through the wildernessThat you might possess the land of the ^cAmorite.11 “Then I ^araised up some of your sons to be prophets who gave you My revelation,And some of your young men to be ^bNazirites (dedicated ones) .Is this not true, O you children of Israel?” says the LORD. Num 6:1-812 “But you gave the Nazirites wine to drink despite their vowsAnd commanded the prophets, saying, ‘You ^ashall not prophesy!’13 “Behold, I am ^aweighted down beneath youAs a cart that is weighted down when it is full of sheaves.14 “^aFlight will be lost to the swift so they will be unable to escape,And the strong shall not strengthen nor maintain his power,Nor shall the ^bmighty man save his own life.15 “He who ^ahandles the bow will not stand his ground,The one who is swift of foot will not escape,Nor will he who rides the ^bhorse save his life from the invading army.16 “Even the bravest among the warriors shall ^aflee naked on that day,” says the LORD.
