^aY sucedió que en el año cuatrocientos ochenta después que los hijos de Israel salieron de la tierra de Egipto, en el cuarto año del reinado de Salomón sobre Israel, en el mes de Zif, que es el segundo mes, comenzó él a edificar¹ la casa del SEÑOR. 2 La casa que el rey Salomón edificó para el SEÑOR tenía sesenta codos¹ de² largo, veinte codos de³ ancho y treinta codos de⁴ alto. 3 Y el pórtico delante de la nave del templo¹ tenía veinte codos de² largo, conforme al³ ancho de la casa, y su ancho al frente de la casa era de diez codos. 4 También para la casa hizo ventanas con celosías^a. 5 Junto a la pared de la casa^a edificó pisos alrededor de las paredes de la casa, tanto de la nave como del santuario interior^b, e hizo cámaras laterales en derredor^c. 6 El piso inferior tenía cinco codos de ancho, y el del medio tenía seis codos de ancho, y el tercero tenía siete codos de ancho; porque por fuera hizo¹ rebajos en la pared de la casa por todo alrededor para no empotrar² las vigas en las paredes de la casa. 7 La casa, mientras se edificaba, se construía de piedras preparadas¹ en la cantera; y no se oyó ni martillo ni hacha ni ningún instrumento de hierro^a en la casa mientras la construían. 8 La entrada a la cámara lateral inferior¹ estaba al lado derecho de la casa; y se subía por una escalera de caracol al piso del medio, y del medio al tercero. 9 Edificó, pues, la casa y la terminó^a; y cubrió la casa con vigas y tablas¹ de cedro. 10 También edificó pisos junto a toda la casa, cada uno de cinco codos de alto, y estaban asegurados a¹ la casa con vigas de cedro.

11 Y la palabra del SEÑOR vino a Salomón, diciendo: 12 En cuanto a esta casa que estás edificando, si tú andas en mis estatutos, cumples mis ordenanzas y guardas todos mis mandamientos andando en ellos, yo cumpliré¹ mi palabra contigo, la cual hablé a David tu padre^a, 13 habitaré en medio de los hijos de Israel^a, y no abandonaré^b a mi pueblo Israel.

14 Salomón, pues, edificó la casa y la terminó^a. 15 Luego construyó las paredes de la casa por dentro con tablas de cedro; desde el suelo de la casa hasta el techo^1a recubrió las paredes interiores de madera; recubrió también el piso de la casa con tablas de ciprés. 16 Edificó los veinte codos del fondo de la casa con tablas de cedro desde el suelo hasta el techo^1a; así² le edificó el santuario interior, el lugar santísimo^b. 17 La casa, es decir, la nave delante del santuario interior tenía cuarenta codos de largo. 18 Y por dentro la casa estaba revestida de cedro tallado en forma de calabazas^a y flores abiertas; todo era cedro, no se veía la piedra. 19 Entonces preparó el santuario interior dentro de la casa, para colocar allí el arca del pacto del SEÑOR. 20 Y el¹ santuario interior tenía veinte codos de largo, veinte codos de ancho y veinte codos de alto, y lo revistió de oro puro; y el altar lo recubrió de cedro. 21 Salomón revistió el interior de la casa de oro puro. Puso cadenas de oro a lo largo del frente del santuario interior, y lo revistió de oro. 22 Revistió de oro toda la casa, hasta que toda la casa estuvo terminada. También revistió de oro todo el altar^a que estaba junto al santuario interior.

23 También en el santuario interior hizo dos querubines de madera de olivo, cada uno de diez codos de alto^a. 24 Un ala del querubín tenía cinco codos y la otra ala del querubín cinco codos; desde la punta de una de sus alas hasta la punta de la otra de sus alas había diez codos. 25 El otro querubín también medía diez codos; ambos querubines tenían la misma medida y la misma forma. 26 La altura de uno de los querubines era de diez codos, y asimismo la del otro querubín. 27 Colocó los querubines en medio de la casa interior; las alas de los querubines se extendían^a de modo que el ala del uno tocaba una pared y el ala del otro querubín tocaba la otra pared. Sus otras dos alas se tocaban ala con ala en el centro de la casa. 28 También revistió de oro los querubines.

29 Luego talló todas las paredes de la casa en derredor con grabados de figuras de querubines, palmeras y flores abiertas, el santuario interior y el exterior. 30 Revistió de oro el piso de la casa, el santuario interior y el exterior. 31 Y para la entrada del santuario interior hizo puertas de madera de olivo, el dintel y postes pentagonales. 32 Las dos puertas eran de madera de olivo, y talló en ellas figuras de querubines, palmeras y flores abiertas, y las revistió de oro; cubrió también de oro los querubines y las palmeras. 33 Hizo además para la entrada de la nave postes cuadrangulares de madera de olivo, 34 y dos puertas de madera de ciprés; las dos hojas de una puerta eran giratorias, y las dos hojas¹ de la otra puerta también eran giratorias^a. 35 Talló en ellas querubines, palmeras y flores abiertas, y las revistió de oro bien ajustado a la talladura. 36 Edificó el atrio interior con tres hileras de piedra labrada y una hilera de vigas de cedro^a.

37 En el cuarto año, en el mes de Zif, se echaron los cimientos de la casa del SEÑOR^a, 38 y en el año undécimo, en el mes de Bul, que es el mes octavo, la casa fue acabada en todas sus partes y conforme a todos sus planos. La edificó, pues, en siete años.

^aNow it came about in the four hundred and eightieth year after the sons of Israel came out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv which is the second month, that he ¹began to build the house of the LORD. 2 As for the house which King Solomon built for the LORD, its length was sixty ¹cubits and its width twenty cubits and its height thirty cubits. 3 The porch in front of the nave of the house was twenty cubits ¹in length, ²corresponding to the width of the house, and its ³depth along the front of the house was ten cubits. 4 Also for the house ^ahe made windows with artistic frames. 5 ^aAgainst the wall of the house he built stories encompassing the walls of the house around both the nave and the ^binner sanctuary; thus he made ^cside chambers all around. 6 The lowest story was five cubits wide, and the middle was six cubits wide, and the third was seven cubits wide; for on the outside he ¹made offsets in the wall of the house all around in order that the beams would not ²be inserted in the walls of the house.

7 ^aThe house, while it was being built, was built of stone ¹prepared at the quarry, and there was neither hammer nor axe nor any iron tool heard in the house while it was being built.

8 The doorway for the ¹lowest side chamber was on the right side of the house; and they would go up by winding stairs to the middle story, and from the middle to the third. 9 So ^ahe built the house and finished it; and he covered the house with beams and ¹planks of cedar. 10 He also built the stories against the whole house, each five ¹cubits high; and they ²were fastened to the house with timbers of cedar.

11 Now the word of the LORD came to Solomon saying, 12 “Concerning this house which you are building, ^aif you will walk in My statutes and execute My ordinances and keep all My commandments by walking in them, then I will carry out My word with you which I spoke to David your father. 13 ^aI will dwell among the sons of Israel, and ^bwill not forsake My people Israel.”

14 ^aSo Solomon built the house and finished it. 15 Then he ^abuilt the walls of the house on the inside with boards of cedar; from the floor of the house to the ¹ceiling he overlaid the walls on the inside with wood, and he overlaid the floor of the house with boards of cypress. 16 ^aHe built twenty cubits on the rear part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the ¹ceiling; he built them for it on the inside as an inner sanctuary, even as ^bthe most holy place. 17 The house, that is, the nave in front of the inner sanctuary, was forty ¹cubits long. 18 There was cedar on the house within, carved in the shape of ^agourds and open flowers; all was cedar, there was no stone seen. 19 Then he prepared an inner sanctuary within the house in order to place there the ark of the covenant of the LORD. 20 ¹The inner sanctuary was twenty cubits in length, twenty cubits in width, and twenty cubits in height, and he overlaid it with pure gold. He also overlaid the altar with cedar. 21 So Solomon overlaid the inside of the house with pure gold. And he drew chains of gold across the front of the inner sanctuary, and he overlaid it with gold. 22 He overlaid the whole house with gold, until all the house was finished. Also ^athe whole altar which was by the inner sanctuary he overlaid with gold.

23 ^aAlso in the inner sanctuary he made two cherubim of olive wood, each ten cubits high. 24 Five cubits was the one wing of the cherub and five cubits the other wing of the cherub; from the end of one wing to the end of the other wing were ten cubits. 25 The other cherub was ten cubits; both the cherubim were of the same measure and the same form. 26 The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was the other cherub. 27 He placed the cherubim in the midst of the inner house, and ^athe wings of the cherubim were spread out, so that the wing of the one was touching the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub was touching the other wall. So their wings were touching each other in the center of the house. 28 He also overlaid the cherubim with gold.

29 Then he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved engravings of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, inner and outer sanctuaries. 30 He overlaid the floor of the house with gold, inner and outer sanctuaries.

31 For the entrance of the inner sanctuary he made doors of olive wood, the lintel and five-sided doorposts. 32 So he made two doors of olive wood, and he carved on them carvings of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold; and he spread the gold on the cherubim and on the palm trees.

33 So also he made for the entrance of the nave four-sided doorposts of olive wood 34 and ^atwo doors of cypress wood; the two leaves of the one door turned on pivots, and the two ¹leaves of the other door turned on pivots. 35 He carved on it cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold evenly applied on the engraved work. 36 ^aHe built the inner court with three rows of cut stone and a row of cedar beams.

37 ^aIn the fourth year the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid, in the month of Ziv. 38 In the eleventh year, in the month of Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was finished throughout all its parts and according to all its plans. So he was seven years in building it.

14 ^aSo Solomon built the house and finished it. 15 He ^abuilt the walls of the house on the inside with boards of cedar; from the floor of the house to the ¹ceiling he paneled the walls on the inside with wood, and he paneled the floor of the house with boards of juniper. 16 ^aHe also built ¹twenty cubits on the rear part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the ²ceiling; he built them for it on the inside as an inner sanctuary, as ^bthe Most Holy Place. 17 The house, that is, the main room in front of the inner sanctuary, was ¹forty cubits long. 18 There was cedar inside the house, carved in the shape of ^agourds and open flowers; everything was cedar, there was no stone visible. 19 Then he prepared an inner sanctuary inside the house in order to place there the ark of the covenant of the LORD. 20 ¹The inner sanctuary was twenty cubits in length, twenty cubits in width, and twenty cubits in height; and he overlaid it with pure gold. He also paneled the altar with cedar. 21 So Solomon overlaid the inside of the house with pure gold. And he extended chains of gold across the front of the inner sanctuary, and he overlaid it with gold. 22 He overlaid the entire house with gold, until all the house was finished. Also ^athe entire altar which was by the inner sanctuary he overlaid with gold.

23 ^aAnd in the inner sanctuary he made two ¹cherubim of olive wood, each ²ten cubits high. 24 The one wing of the first cherub was five cubits, and the other wing of the first cherub was five cubits; from the end of one wing to the end of the other wing were ten cubits. 25 The second cherub was ten cubits; both of the cherubim were of the same measurement and the same form. 26 The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was that of the other cherub. 27 He placed the cherubim in the midst of the inner house, and ^athe wings of the cherubim spread out so that the wing of the one was touching the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub was touching the other wall. 29 Then he carved all the surrounding walls of the house with engravings of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, for the inner and outer sanctuaries. 30 And he overlaid the floor of the house with gold, for the inner and outer sanctuaries.

31 And for the entrance of the inner sanctuary he made doors of olive wood, the lintel, and five-sided doorposts. 32 So he made two doors of olive wood, and he carved on them carvings of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold; and he overlaid the cherubim and the palm trees with gold.

33 So too he made for the entrance of the main room four-sided doorposts of olive wood, 34 and ^atwo doors of juniper wood; the two leaves of the one door turned on pivots, and the two ¹leaves of the other door turned on pivots. 35 He carved on it cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold plated on the carved work. 36 And ^ahe built the inner courtyard with three rows of cut stone and a row of cedar beams.

37 ^aIn the fourth year the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid, in the month of Ziv. 38 And in the eleventh year, in the month of Bul, that is, the eighth month, the house was finished in all its parts and in accordance with all its plans. So he was seven years in building it.

^1aNow it came about in the four hundred and eightieth year after the Israelites came out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv (April-May) which is the second month, that he began to build the Lord’s house (temple) . 2 The length of the house which King Solomon built for the LORD was ¹sixty cubits (90 ft.) , its width twenty (30 ft.) , and its height thirty cubits (45 ft.) . 3 The porch in front of the main room of the house (temple) was twenty cubits long, corresponding to the width of the house, and its depth in front of the house was ten cubits. 4 ^aHe also made framed (artistic) window openings for the house. 5 ^aAgainst the wall of the house he built ¹extensions around the walls of the house, around both the main room (Holy Place) and the ^2bHoly of Holies; and he made ^cside chambers all around. 6 The lowest story was five cubits wide, the middle was six cubits wide, and the third was seven cubits wide; for he made offsets (niches) in the walls all around on the outside of the house so that the supporting beams would not be inserted into the walls of the house.

7 While ^ait was being built, the house was built of stone prepared and finished (precut) at the quarry, and no hammer, axe, or iron tool of any kind was heard in the house while it was under construction.

8 The entrance to the lowest side chamber was on the right or south side of the house; and they would go up winding stairs to the middle level, and from the middle to the third. 9 So ^aSolomon built the house (temple) and finished it, and roofed the house with beams and boards of cedar. 10 Then he built the extensions of rooms against the entire house, each story five cubits high; and they were attached to the house with timbers of cedar.

11 Now the word of the LORD came to Solomon, saying, 12 “Concerning this house which you are building, ^aif you will walk in My statutes and execute My precepts and keep all My commandments by walking in them, then I will carry out My word (promises) with you which I made to David your father. 13 ^aI will dwell among the sons (descendants) of Israel, and ^bwill not abandon My people Israel.”

14 ^aSo Solomon built the house (temple) and finished it. 15 He ^abuilt the walls of the interior of the house that is, the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies with boards of cedar, from the floor of the house to the rafters of the ceiling. He overlaid the interior with wood, and he overlaid the floor of the house with boards of cypress. 16 ^aHe built twenty cubits on the rear of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the ceiling; he built its interior as the inner sanctuary, ^bthe Holy of Holies. 17 The rest of the house, that is, the temple in front of the Holy of Holies, was forty cubits long. 18 The cedar on the house within had wood carvings in the shape of ^agourds and open flowers. Everything was cedar; no stone was visible. 19 Then he prepared the Holy of Holies within the house in order to put the ark of the covenant of the LORD there. 20 The Holy of Holies was twenty cubits in length, twenty cubits in width, and twenty cubits in height (a cube) , and he overlaid it with pure gold. He also overlaid the cedar altar with gold. 21 Solomon overlaid the interior of the house with pure gold, and he drew ¹chains of gold across the front of the Holy of Holies (inner sanctuary) , and he overlaid it with gold. 22 Then he overlaid the entire house with gold, until the whole house was finished. He also overlaid ^athe entire incense altar which was by the Holy of Holies with gold.

23 ^aWithin the Holy of Holies he made two ¹cherubim (sculptured figures) of olive wood, each ten cubits high. 24 ¹One wing of the cherub was five cubits long, and the other wing was also five cubits long; it was ten cubits from the tip of one wing to the tip of the other. 25 The wingspan of the other cherub was also ten cubits. The measurements and cut (shape) of the two cherubim were the same; 26 the height of the one cherub was ten cubits, as was the other. 27 He put the cherubim above the ark inside the innermost room of the house, and ^atheir wings were spread out so that the wing of the one touched one wall, and the wing of the other cherub was touching the other wall; and their inner wings were touching ¹each other in the middle of the house. 28 Solomon also overlaid the cherubim with gold.

29 He carved all the walls of the house all around with carved engravings of cherubim, palm-shaped decorations, and open flowers, both the inner and the outer sanctuaries. 30 He overlaid the floor of the house with gold, both the inner and outer sanctuaries.

31 For the entrance of the Holy of Holies he made two folding doors of olive wood, the lintel (header above the door) and five-sided doorposts (frames) . 32 So he made two doors of olive wood, and he carved on them carvings of cherubim, palm-shaped decorations, and open flowers; and overlaid them with gold; and he hammered out overlays of gold on the cherubim and palm decorations.

33 Also he made for the entrance of the outer sanctuary (the Holy Place) four-sided doorposts (frames) of olive wood 34 and ^atwo doors of cypress wood; the two leaves of the one door turned on pivots and were folding, and the two leaves of the other door also turned on pivots. 35 He carved cherubim, palm-shaped decorations, and open flowers on the doors, and overlaid them with gold evenly applied on the carved work. 36 ^aHe built the inner courtyard with three rows of cut stone and a row of cedar beams.

37 ^aIn the fourth year of King Solomon’s reign the foundation of the LORD’S house was laid, in the second month, Ziv (April-May) . 38 In the eleventh year of King Solomon’s reign in the month of Bul (October-November) , that is, the eighth month, the house was finished throughout all its parts and in accordance with all its specifications. So he built it in seven years.
