Entonces Elías tisbita, que era de los moradores de Galaad^1a, dijo a Acab: Vive el SEÑOR, Dios^b de Israel, delante de quien estoy, que ciertamente no habrá rocío ni lluvia en estos años, sino por la palabra de mi boca^c. 2 Y vino a Elías¹ la palabra del SEÑOR, diciendo: 3 Sal de aquí y dirígete hacia el oriente, y escóndete junto al arroyo Querit, que está al oriente¹ del Jordán. 4 Y¹ beberás del arroyo, y he ordenado a los cuervos que te sustenten allí^a. 5 Él fue e hizo conforme a la palabra del SEÑOR, pues fue y habitó junto al arroyo Querit, que está al oriente¹ del Jordán. 6 Y los cuervos le traían pan y carne por la mañana, y pan y carne al atardecer, y bebía del arroyo. 7 Y sucedió que después de algún tiempo el arroyo se secó, porque no había caído lluvia en la tierra.

8 Vino después a él la palabra del SEÑOR, diciendo: 9 Levántate, ve a Sarepta, que pertenece a Sidón, y quédate allí; he aquí, yo he mandado a una viuda de allí^a que te sustente^b. 10 Él se levantó y fue a Sarepta. Cuando llegó a la entrada de la ciudad, he aquí, allí estaba una viuda recogiendo leña, y la llamó y le dijo: Te ruego que me consigas un poco de agua en un vaso para que yo beba^a. 11 Cuando ella iba a conseguirla, la llamó y le dijo: Te ruego que me traigas también un bocado de pan en tu mano. 12 Pero ella respondió: Vive el SEÑOR tu Dios^a, que no tengo pan¹,solo tengo un puñado de harina en la tinaja² y un poco de aceite en la vasija^b y³ estoy recogiendo unos⁴ trozos de leña para entrar y prepararlo para mí y para mi hijo, para que comamos y muramos^c. 13 Entonces Elías le dijo: No temas; ve, haz como has dicho, pero primero hazme una pequeña torta de eso¹ y tráemela; después harás para ti y para tu hijo. 14 Porque así dice el SEÑOR, Dios de Israel: «No se acabará la harina en la tinaja¹ ni se agotará² el aceite en la vasija, hasta el día en que el SEÑOR mande lluvia sobre la faz de la tierra». 15 Entonces ella fue e hizo conforme a la palabra de Elías, y ella, él y la casa de ella comieron por muchos días. 16 La harina de la tinaja¹ no se acabó ni se agotó² el aceite de la vasija, conforme a la palabra que el SEÑOR había hablado por medio³ de Elías.

17 Y sucedió que después de estas cosas, se enfermó el hijo de la mujer dueña de la casa; y su enfermedad fue tan grave que no quedó aliento en él. 18 Y ella dijo a Elías: ¿Qué tengo que ver contigo^a, oh varón de Dios^b? Has venido para traer a memoria mis iniquidades y hacer morir a mi hijo¹. 19 Y él le respondió: Dame a tu hijo. Y él lo tomó de su regazo y lo llevó a la cámara alta donde él vivía, y lo acostó sobre su propia cama. 20 Clamó al SEÑOR y dijo: Oh SEÑOR, Dios mío, ¿has traído también mal a la viuda con quien estoy hospedado¹ haciendo morir a su hijo? 21 Entonces se tendió tres veces sobre el niño^a, clamó al SEÑOR y dijo: Oh SEÑOR, Dios mío, te ruego que el alma de este niño vuelva a él¹. 22 El SEÑOR escuchó la voz de Elías, y el alma del niño volvió a él¹ y revivió^a. 23 Y Elías tomó al niño, lo bajó de la cámara alta a la casa y se lo dio a su madre; y Elías dijo: Mira, tu hijo vive. 24 Entonces la mujer dijo a Elías: Ahora conozco que tú eres hombre de Dios^a, y que la palabra del SEÑOR en tu boca es verdad.

Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was of ^1athe settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, “^bAs the LORD, the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, surely ^cthere shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.” 2 The word of the LORD came to him, saying, 3 “Go away from here and turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is ¹east of the Jordan. 4 It shall be that you will drink of the brook, and ^aI have commanded the ravens to provide for you there.” 5 So he went and did according to the word of the LORD, for he went and lived by the brook Cherith, which is ¹east of the Jordan. 6 The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he would drink from the brook. 7 It happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.

8 Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying, 9 “Arise, go to ^aZarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there; behold, ^bI have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” 10 So he arose and went to Zarephath, and when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks; and ^ahe called to her and said, “Please get me a little water in a ¹jar, that I may drink.” 11 As she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a piece of bread in your hand.” 12 But she said, “^aAs the LORD your God lives, ^bI have no ¹bread, only a handful of flour in the ²bowl and a little oil in the jar; and behold, I am gathering ³a few sticks that I may go in and prepare for me and my son, that we may eat it and ^cdie.” 13 Then Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go, do as you have said, but make me a little bread cake from ¹it first and bring it out to me, and afterward you may make one for yourself and for your son. 14 For thus says the LORD God of Israel, ‘The ¹bowl of flour shall not be exhausted, nor shall the jar of oil ²be empty, until the day that the LORD sends rain on the face of the earth.’” 15 So she went and did according to the word of Elijah, and she and he and her household ate for many days. 16 The ¹bowl of flour was not exhausted nor did the jar of oil ²become empty, according to the word of the LORD which He spoke through Elijah.

17 Now it came about after these things that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became sick; and his sickness was so severe that there was no breath left in him. 18 So she said to Elijah, “^aWhat do I have to do with you, O ^bman of God? ¹You have come to me to bring my iniquity to remembrance and to put my son to death!” 19 He said to her, “Give me your son.” Then he took him from her bosom and carried him up to the upper room where he was living, and laid him on his own bed. 20 He called to the LORD and said, “O LORD my God, have You also brought calamity to the widow with whom I am ¹staying, by causing her son to die?” 21 ^aThen he stretched himself upon the child three times, and called to the LORD and said, “O LORD my God, I pray You, let this child’s life return ¹to him.” 22 The LORD heard the voice of Elijah, ^aand the life of the child returned ¹to him and he revived. 23 Elijah took the child and brought him down from the upper room into the house and gave him to his mother; and Elijah said, “See, your son is alive.” 24 Then the woman said to Elijah, “^aNow I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD in your mouth is truth.”

Just make me a little bread loaf from ¹it first and bring it out to me, and afterward you may make one for yourself and for your son. 14 For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel says: ‘The ¹bowl of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil become empty, until the day that the LORD provides rain on the face of the earth.’” 15 So she went and did everything in accordance with the word of Elijah, and she and he and her household ate for many days. 16 The ¹bowl of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil become empty, in accordance with the word of the LORD which He spoke through Elijah.

17 Now it happened after these things that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became sick; and his ¹condition became very grave, until at the end ²he was no longer breathing. 18 So she said to Elijah, “^1aWhy is my business any of yours, you ^bman of God? Yet you have come to me to bring my wrongdoing to remembrance, and to put my son to death!” 19 But he said to her, “Give me your son.” Then he took him from her ¹arms and carried him up to the upstairs room where he was living, and laid him on his own bed. 20 And he called to the LORD and said, “LORD, my God, have You also brought catastrophe upon the widow with whom I am ¹staying, by causing her son to die?” 21 ^aThen he stretched himself out over the boy three times, and called to the LORD and said, “LORD, my God, please, let this boy’s life return ¹to him.” 22 And the LORD listened to the voice of Elijah, ^aand the life of the boy returned ¹to him and he revived. 23 Elijah then took the boy and brought him down from the upstairs room into the house and gave him to his mother; and Elijah said, “See, your son is alive.” 24 Then the woman said to Elijah, “^aNow I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in your mouth is truth.”

See, I am gathering a few sticks so that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it as our last meal and ^cdie.” 13 Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said. Just make me a little bread from it first and bring it out to me, and afterward you may make one for yourself and for your son. 14 For this is what the LORD God of Israel says: ‘The bowl of flour shall not be exhausted nor shall the jar of oil be empty until the day that the LORD sends rain again on the face of the earth.’” 15 She went and did as Elijah said. And she and he and her household ate for many days. 16 The bowl of flour was not exhausted nor did the jar of oil become empty, in accordance with the word of the LORD which He spoke through Elijah.

17 It happened after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became sick; and his illness was so severe that there was no breath left in him. 18 So she said to Elijah, “^aWhat problem is there between you and me, O ^bman of God? Have you come to me to bring my sin to mind and to put my son to death?” 19 He said to her, “Give me your son.” Then he took him from her arms and carried him up to the upper room where he was living, and laid him on his own bed. 20 He called to the LORD and said, “O LORD my God, have You brought further tragedy to the widow with whom I am staying, by causing her son to die?” 21 ^aThen he stretched himself out upon the child three times, and called to the LORD and said, “O LORD my God, please let this child’s life return to him.” 22 The LORD heard the voice of Elijah, ^aand the life of the child returned to him and he revived. 23 Elijah took the child and brought him down from the upper room into the lower part of the house and gave him to his mother; and Elijah said, “See, your son is alive.” 24 Then the woman said to Elijah, “^aNow I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD in your mouth is truth.”
