Y subiendo Jesús en una barca, pasó al otro lado y llegó a su ciudad^a. 2 ^aY¹ le trajeron un paralítico echado en una camilla; y Jesús, viendo la fe de ellos, dijo al paralítico^b: Anímate^c, hijo, tus pecados te son perdonados^d. 3 Y¹ algunos de los escribas decían para sí²: Este blasfema^a. 4 Y Jesús, conociendo sus pensamientos^a, dijo: ¿Por qué pensáis mal en vuestros corazones? 5 Porque, ¿qué es más fácil, decir: «Tus pecados te son perdonados», o decir: «Levántate, y anda^a»? 6 Pues para que sepáis que el Hijo del Hombre^a tiene autoridad en la tierra para perdonar pecados (entonces dijo* al paralítico^b): Levántate, toma tu camilla y vete a tu casa. 7 Y él levantándose, se fue a su casa. 8 Pero cuando las multitudes vieron esto, sintieron temor¹, y glorificaron a Dios^a, que había dado tal poder² a los hombres.

9 ^aCuando Jesús se fue de allí, vio a un hombre llamado Mateo^b, sentado en la oficina de los tributos, y le dijo*: ¡Sígueme^c! Y levantándose, le siguió.

10 Y sucedió que estando Él sentado¹ a la mesa en la casa, he aquí, muchos recaudadores de impuestos² y pecadores llegaron y se sentaron³ a la mesa con Jesús y sus discípulos. 11 Y cuando vieron esto, los fariseos dijeron a sus discípulos: ¿Por qué come vuestro Maestro con los recaudadores de impuestos y pecadores^a? 12 Al oír Él esto, dijo: Los que están sanos¹ no tienen necesidad de médico, sino los que están enfermos^a. 13 Mas id, y aprended lo que significa^a: «MISERICORDIA¹ QUIERO Y NO SACRIFICIO^b»; porque no he venido a llamar a justos, sino a pecadores^c.

14 Entonces se le acercaron* los discípulos de Juan, diciendo: ¿Por qué nosotros y los fariseos ayunamos^a, pero tus discípulos no ayunan? 15 Y Jesús les dijo: ¿Acaso los acompañantes del novio¹ pueden estar de luto mientras el novio está con ellos? Pero vendrán días cuando el novio les será² quitado, y entonces ayunarán. 16 Y nadie pone un remiendo¹ de tela nueva² en un vestido viejo; porque el remiendo³ al encogerse tira del vestido y se produce una rotura peor. 17 Y nadie echa vino nuevo en odres¹ viejos, porque entonces² los odres se revientan, el vino se derrama y los odres se pierden; sino que se echa vino nuevo en odres nuevos, y ambos se conservan.

18 ^aMientras les decía estas cosas, he aquí, vino un oficial¹ de la sinagoga y se postró delante de Él^2b, diciendo: Mi hija acaba de morir; pero ven y pon tu mano sobre ella, y vivirá. 19 Y levantándose Jesús, lo siguió, y también sus discípulos. 20 Y he aquí, una mujer que había estado sufriendo de flujo de sangre por doce años, se le acercó por detrás y tocó el borde de su manto^a; 21 pues decía para sí: Si tansolo toco su manto^a, sanaré¹. 22 Pero Jesús, volviéndose y viéndola, dijo: Hija, ten ánimo^a, tu fe te ha sanado^1b. Y al instante² la mujer quedó sana³. 23 Cuando entró Jesús en la casa del oficial¹, y vio a los flautistas^a y al gentío en ruidoso desorden, 24 les dijo: Retiraos, porque la niña¹ no ha muerto^a, sino que está dormida. Y se burlaban de Él. 25 Pero cuando habían echado fuera a la gente^a, Él entró y la tomó de la mano; y la niña¹ se levantó^2b. 26 Y esta noticia¹ se difundió por toda aquella tierra^a.

27 Al irse Jesús de allí, dos ciegos le siguieron, gritando y diciendo: ¡Hijo de David^a, ten misericordia de nosotros! 28 Y después de haber entrado en la casa, se acercaron a Él los ciegos, y Jesús les dijo*: ¿Creéis que puedo hacer esto? Ellos le respondieron*: Sí, Señor. 29 Entonces les tocó los ojos, diciendo: Hágase en vosotros según vuestra fe^a. 30 Y se les abrieron los ojos. Y Jesús les advirtió rigurosamente^a, diciendo: Mirad que nadie lo sepa. 31 Pero ellos, en cuanto salieron, divulgaron su fama por toda aquella tierra^a.

32 Y al salir ellos de allí, he aquí, le trajeron un mudo^a endemoniado^b. 33 Y después que el demonio había sido expulsado, el mudo habló; y las multitudes se maravillaban, y decían: Jamás se ha visto¹ cosa igual en Israel^a. 34 Pero los fariseos decían: El echa fuera los demonios por el príncipe de los demonios^a.

35 Y Jesús recorría todas las ciudades y aldeas, enseñando en las sinagogas de ellos^a, proclamando el evangelio del reino y sanando toda enfermedad y toda dolencia^b. 36 Y viendo las multitudes^a, tuvo compasión de ellas, porque estaban angustiadas y abatidas como ovejas que no tienen pastor^b. 37 Entonces dijo* a sus discípulos: La mies es mucha, pero los obreros pocos^a. 38 Por tanto, rogad al Señor de la mies que envíe obreros a su mies.

Getting into a boat, Jesus crossed over the sea and came to ^aHis own city.

2 ^aAnd they brought to Him a ^bparalytic lying on a bed. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralytic, “^cTake courage, ¹son; ^dyour sins are forgiven.” 3 And some of the scribes said ¹to themselves, “This fellow ^ablasphemes.” 4 And Jesus ^aknowing their thoughts said, “Why are you thinking evil in your hearts? 5 Which is easier, to say, ‘^aYour sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, and walk’? 6 But so that you may know that ^athe Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—then He *said to the ^bparalytic, “Get up, pick up your bed and go home.” 7 And he got up and ¹went home. 8 But when the crowds saw this, they were ¹awestruck, and ^aglorified God, who had given such authority to men.

9 ^aAs Jesus went on from there, He saw a man called ^bMatthew, sitting in the tax collector’s booth; and He *said to him, “^cFollow Me!” And he got up and followed Him.

10 Then it happened that as ¹Jesus was reclining at the table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and ²sinners came and were dining with Jesus and His disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, “^aWhy is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners?” 12 But when Jesus heard this, He said, “It is not ^athose who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick. 13 But go and learn ^1awhat this means: ‘^bI DESIRE ²COMPASSION, ³AND NOT SACRIFICE,’ for ^cI did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

14 Then the disciples of John *came to Him, asking, “Why do we and ^athe Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?” 15 And Jesus said to them, “The ¹attendants of the bridegroom cannot mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them, can they? But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast. 16 But no one puts ¹a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for ²the patch pulls away from the garment, and a worse tear results. 17 Nor do people put new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the wineskins burst, and the wine pours out and the wineskins are ruined; but they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.”

18 ^aWhile He was saying these things to them, ¹a synagogue ²official came and ^3bbowed down before Him, and said, “My daughter has just died; but come and lay Your hand on her, and she will live.” 19 Jesus got up and began to follow him, and so did His disciples.

20 And a woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years, came up behind Him and touched ^athe ¹fringe of His ²cloak; 21 for she was saying ¹to herself, “If I only ^atouch His garment, I will ²get well.” 22 But Jesus turning and seeing her said, “Daughter, ^atake courage; ^byour faith has ¹made you well.” ²At once the woman was ³made well.

23 When Jesus came into the ¹official’s house, and saw ^athe flute-players and the crowd in noisy disorder, 24 He said, “Leave; for the girl ^ahas not died, but is asleep.” And they began laughing at Him. 25 But ^awhen the crowd had been sent out, He entered and ^btook her by the hand, and the girl ¹got up. 26 ^aThis news spread throughout all that land.

27 As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out, “Have mercy on us, ^aSon of David!” 28 When He entered the house, the blind men came up to Him, and Jesus *said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They *said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” 29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, “¹It shall be done to you ^aaccording to your faith.” 30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus ^asternly warned them: “See that no one knows about this!” 31 But they went out and ^aspread the news about Him throughout all that land.

32 As they were going out, ^aa mute, ^bdemon-possessed man ¹was brought to Him. 33 After the demon was cast out, the mute man spoke; and the crowds were amazed, and were saying, “^aNothing like this has ¹ever been seen in Israel.” 34 But the Pharisees were saying, “He ^acasts out the demons by the ruler of the demons.”

35 Jesus was going through all the cities and villages, ^ateaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.

36 ^aSeeing the ¹people, He felt compassion for them, ^bbecause they were ²distressed and ³dispirited like sheep ⁴without a shepherd. 37 Then He *said to His disciples, “^aThe harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. 38 Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.”

And Jesus, getting into a boat, crossed over the Sea of Galilee and came to Capernaum ^aHis own city.

2 ^aThey brought to Him a ^bman who was paralyzed, lying on a stretcher. Seeing their active faith springing from confidence in Him, Jesus said to the paralytic, “^cDo not be afraid, son; ^dyour sins are forgiven the penalty is paid, the guilt removed, and you are declared to be in right standing with God.” Mark 2:3-12; Luke 5:18-26 3 And some of the scribes said to themselves, “This man ^ablasphemes by claiming the rights and prerogatives of God!” 4 But Jesus, ^aknowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? 5 For which is easier, to say, ‘^aYour sins are forgiven and the penalty paid,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? Both are possible for God; both are impossible for man. 6 But so that you may know that ^athe Son of Man has authority and the power on earth to forgive sins”—then He said to the ^bparalytic, “Get up, pick up your stretcher and go home.” 7 And he got up and went home healed and forgiven. 8 When the crowds saw this, they were awestruck, and ^aglorified God and praised Him, who had given such authority and power to men.

9 ^aAs Jesus went on from there, He saw a man named ^bMatthew (Levi) sitting in the tax collector’s booth; and He said to him, “^cFollow Me as My disciple, accepting Me as your Master and Teacher and walking the same path of life that I walk.” And Matthew got up and followed Him. Mark 2:14-22; Luke 5:27-39

10 Then as Jesus was reclining at the table in Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and ¹sinners including non-observant Jews came and ate with Him and His disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked His disciples, “^aWhy does your Master eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12 But when Jesus heard this, He said, “^aThose who are healthy have no need for a physician, but only those who are sick. 13 Go and learn ^awhat this Scripture means: ‘^bI DESIRE COMPASSION for those in distress, AND NOT animal SACRIFICE,’ for ^cI did not come to call to repentance the self-proclaimed righteous who see no need to change, but sinners those who recognize their sin and actively seek forgiveness.” Hos 6:6; Mark 2:17; Luke 5:32

14 Then the disciples of John the Baptist came to Jesus, asking, “Why do we and ^athe Pharisees often fast as a religious exercise, but Your disciples do not fast?” 15 And Jesus replied to them, “Can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while the bridegroom is with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast. 16 But no one puts a piece of unshrunk (new) cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and a worse tear results. 17 Nor is new wine put into old ¹wineskins that have lost their elasticity; otherwise the wineskins burst, and the fermenting wine spills and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine is put into fresh wineskins, so both are preserved.”

18 ^aWhile He was saying these things to them, a ruler (synagogue official) entered the house and ^bkneeled down and worshiped Him, saying, “My daughter has just now died; but come and lay Your hand on her, and she will live.” Mark 5:22-43; Luke 8:41-56 19 Jesus got up and began to accompany the ruler, with His disciples.

20 Then a woman who had suffered from a hemorrhage for twelve years came up behind Him and touched ^athe tassel fringe of His outer robe; Matt 14:36 21 for she had been saying to herself, “If I only ^atouch His outer robe, I will be healed.” 22 But Jesus turning and seeing her said, “^aTake courage, daughter; ^byour personal trust and confident faith in Me has made you well.” And at once the woman was completely healed.

23 When Jesus came to the ruler’s house, and saw ^athe flute players who were professional, hired mourners and the grieving crowd making an uproar, 24 He said, “Go away; for the girl ^ais not dead, but is sleeping.” And they laughed and jeered at Him. 25 But ^awhen the crowd had been sent outside, Jesus went in and ^btook her by the hand, and the girl got up. 26 And ^athe news about this spread throughout all that district.

27 As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed Him, screaming loudly, “Have mercy and compassion on us, ^1aSon of David (Messiah) !” 28 When He went into the house, the blind men came up to Him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe with a deep, abiding trust that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” 29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, “^aAccording to your faith your trust and confidence in My power and My ability to heal it will be done to you.” 30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus ^1asternly warned them: “See that no one knows this!” 31 But they went out and ^aspread the news about Him throughout that whole district.

32 While they were going away, ^aa mute, ^bdemon-possessed man was brought to Jesus. 33 And when the demon was driven out by Jesus, the mute man spoke; and the crowds wondered in amazement, saying, “^aNever before has anything like this miracle been seen in Israel.” 34 But the Pharisees were saying, “He ^acasts out the demons by the power of the ruler of demons.”

35 Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages in Galilee, ^ateaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news (gospel) of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness His words and His works reflecting His Messiahship.

36 When He ^asaw the crowds, He was moved with compassion and pity for them, ^bbecause they were dispirited and distressed, like sheep without a shepherd. Zech 10:2 37 Then He said to His disciples, “^aThe harvest is indeed plentiful, but the workers are few. 38 So pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.”
