^aEntonces Jesús fue llevado por el Espíritu al desierto para ser tentado por el diablo. 2 Y después de haber ayunado cuarenta días y cuarenta noches^a, entonces¹ tuvo hambre. 3 Y acercándose el tentador^a, le dijo: Si eres Hijo de Dios^b, di que estas piedras se conviertan en pan¹. 4 Pero Él respondiendo, dijo: Escrito está: «NO SOLO DE PAN VIVIRÁ EL HOMBRE, SINO DE TODA PALABRA QUE SALE DE LA BOCA DE DIOS^a». 5 Entonces el diablo le llevó* a la ciudad santa^a, y le puso sobre el pináculo del templo, 6 y le dijo*: Si eres Hijo de Dios, lánzate abajo, pues escrito está:«A SUS ÁNGELES TE ENCOMENDARÁ»,y:«EN LAS MANOS TE LLEVARÁN,NO SEA QUE TU PIE TROPIECE EN PIEDRA^a». 7 Jesús le dijo: También está escrito: «NO TENTARÁS¹ AL SEÑOR TU DIOS^a». 8 Otra vez el diablo le llevó* a un monte muy alto, y le mostró* todos los reinos del mundo^a y la gloria de ellos, 9 y le dijo: Todo esto te daré, si postrándote me adoras^a. 10 Entonces Jesús le dijo*: ¡Vete, Satanás! Porque escrito está: «AL SEÑOR TU DIOS ADORARÁS, Y SOLO A ÉL SERVIRÁS^1a». 11 El diablo entonces le dejó*; y he aquí, ángeles vinieron y le servían^a.

12 Cuando Él oyó que Juan había sido encarcelado^1a, se retiró a Galilea^b; 13 y saliendo de Nazaret, fue y se estableció en Capernaúm^a, que está junto al mar, en la región de Zabulón y de Neftalí; 14 para que se cumpliera lo dicho por medio del profeta Isaías, cuando dijo:

17 Desde entonces Jesús comenzó a predicar^1a y a decir: Arrepentíos, porque el reino de los cielos se ha acercado^b.

18 ^aY andando junto al mar de Galilea^b, vio a dos hermanos, Simón, llamado Pedro^c, y Andrés su hermano, echando una red al mar, porque eran pescadores. 19 Y les dijo*: Seguidme¹, y yo os haré pescadores de hombres. 20 Entonces ellos, dejando al instante las redes, le siguieron. 21 Y pasando de allí, vio a otros dos hermanos, Jacobo^1a, hijo de Zebedeo, y Juan² su hermano, en la barca con su padre Zebedeo, remendando sus redes, y los llamó. 22 Y ellos, dejando al instante la barca y a su padre, le siguieron.

23 Y Jesús iba por toda Galilea^a, enseñando^b en sus sinagogas y proclamando^c el evangelio del reino, y sanando^d toda enfermedad y toda dolencia en el pueblo. 24 Y se extendió su fama por toda Siria^a; y traían a Él todos los que estaban enfermos, afectados con diversas enfermedades y dolores, endemoniados^b, epilépticos^1c y paralíticos^d; y Él los sanaba. 25 Y le siguieron grandes multitudes^a de Galilea, Decápolis^b, Jerusalén y Judea, y del otro lado del Jordán^c.

^aThen Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness ^bto be tempted by the devil. 2 And after He had ^afasted forty days and forty nights, He ¹then became hungry. 3 And ^athe tempter came and said to Him, “If You are the ^bSon of God, command that these stones become bread.” 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘^aMAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.’”

5 Then the devil *took Him into ^athe holy city and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and *said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written,‘^aHE WILL COMMAND HIS ANGELS CONCERNING YOU’;and‘ON their HANDS THEY WILL BEAR YOU UP,SO THAT YOU WILL NOT STRIKE YOUR FOOT AGAINST A STONE.’” 7 Jesus said to him, “¹On the other hand, it is written, ‘^aYOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.’”

8 ^aAgain, the devil *took Him to a very high mountain and *showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory; 9 and he said to Him, “^aAll these things I will give You, if You fall down and ¹worship me.” 10 Then Jesus *said to him, “Go, Satan! For it is written, ‘^aYOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND ¹SERVE HIM ONLY.’” 11 Then the devil *left Him; and behold, ^aangels came and began to minister to Him.

12 Now when Jesus heard that ^aJohn had been taken into custody, ^bHe withdrew into Galilee; 13 and leaving Nazareth, He came and ^asettled in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali. 14 This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet:

17 ^aFrom that time Jesus began to ¹preach and say, “^bRepent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

18 ^aNow as Jesus was walking by ^bthe Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, ^cSimon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19 And He *said to them, “¹Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him. 21 Going on from there He saw two other brothers, ^1aJames the son of Zebedee, and ²John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them. 22 Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.

23 Jesus was going ^athroughout all Galilee, ^bteaching in their synagogues and ^cproclaiming the ¹gospel of the kingdom, and ^dhealing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people.

24 The news about Him spread ^athroughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ill, those suffering with various diseases and pains, ^bdemoniacs, ^1cepileptics, ^dparalytics; and He healed them. 25 Large crowds ^afollowed Him from Galilee and ^bthe Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and from ^cbeyond the Jordan.

^aThen Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness ^bto be tempted by the devil. Luke 4:1-13 2 After He had ^agone without food for forty days and forty nights, He became hungry. Ex 34:28; 1+@Kin 19:8 3 And ^athe tempter came and said to Him, “If You are the ^bSon of God, command that these stones become bread.” 4 But Jesus replied, “It is written and forever remains written, ‘^aMAN SHALL NOT LIVE BY BREAD ALONE, BUT BY EVERY WORD THAT COMES OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.’” Deut 8:3

5 Then the devil took Him into ^athe holy city Jerusalem and placed Him on the pinnacle (highest point) of the temple. Neh 11:1; Dan 9:24 6 And he said mockingly to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written,‘^aHE WILL COMMAND HIS ANGELS CONCERNING YOU to serve, care for, protect and watch over You’;and‘THEY WILL LIFT YOU UP ON their HANDS,SO THAT YOU WILL NOT STRIKE YOUR FOOT AGAINST A STONE.’” Ps 91:11, 12 7 Jesus said to him, “On the other hand, it is written and forever remains written, ‘^aYOU SHALL NOT TEST THE LORD YOUR GOD.’” Deut 6:16

8 ^aAgain, the devil took Him up on a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory splendor, magnificence, and excellence of them; 9 and he said to Him, “All ^athese things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me.” 10 Then Jesus said to him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written and forever remains written, ‘^aYOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY.’” Deut 6:13 11 Then the devil left Him; and ^aangels came and ministered to Him bringing Him food and serving Him.

12 Now when Jesus heard that ^aJohn the Baptist had been arrested and put in prison, ^bHe left for Galilee. 13 And leaving Nazareth, He went and ^asettled in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the country of Zebulun and Naphtali. Mark 2:1 14 This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah:

17 ^aFrom that time Jesus began to preach and say, “^1bRepent change your inner self—your old way of thinking, regret past sins, live your life in a way that proves repentance; seek God’s purpose for your life, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

18 ^aAs Jesus was walking by ^bthe Sea of Galilee, He noticed two brothers, ^cSimon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19 And He said to them, “¹Follow Me as My disciples, accepting Me as your Master and Teacher and walking the same path of life that I walk, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him becoming His disciples, believing and trusting in Him and following His example. 21 And going on further from there He noticed two other brothers, ^aJames the son of Zebedee, and his brother John, in the boat with their father ¹Zebedee, mending their nets; and He called them to follow Him as His disciples. 22 Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him becoming His disciples, believing and trusting in Him and following His example.

23 And He went ^athroughout all Galilee, ^bteaching in their synagogues and ^cpreaching the good news (gospel) of the kingdom, and ^dhealing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people demonstrating and revealing that He was indeed the promised Messiah.

24 So the news about Him spread ^athroughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were sick, those suffering with various diseases and pains, ^bthose under the power of demons, and ^cepileptics, ^dparalytics; and He healed them. 25 Large crowds ^afollowed Him from Galilee and the ^1bDecapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and the ^cother side of the Jordan.
