Entonces el reino de los cielos será semejante^a a diez vírgenes que tomando sus lámparas^b, salieron a recibir al novio. 2 Y cinco de ellas eran insensatas, y cinco prudentes^a. 3 Porque las insensatas, al tomar sus lámparas, no tomaron aceite consigo, 4 pero las prudentes^a tomaron aceite en frascos junto con sus lámparas. 5 Al tardarse el novio, a todas les dio sueño y se durmieron. 6 Pero a medianoche se oyó¹ un clamor: «¡Aquí está el novio! Salid a recibirlo.» 7 Entonces todas aquellas vírgenes se levantaron y arreglaron sus lámparas. 8 Y las insensatas dijeron a las prudentes: «Dadnos de vuestro aceite, porque nuestras lámparas se apagan». 9 Pero las prudentes^a respondieron, diciendo: «No, no sea que no haya suficiente para nosotras y para vosotras; id más bien a los que venden y comprad para vosotras». 10 Y mientras ellas iban a comprar, vino el novio, y las que estaban preparadas^a entraron con él al banquete de bodas^b, y se cerró la puerta^c. 11 Después vinieron también las otras vírgenes, diciendo: «Señor, señor, ábrenos^a». 12 Pero respondiendo él, dijo: «En verdad os digo que no os conozco». 13 Velad¹, pues, porque no sabéis ni el día ni la hora^2a.

14 ^aPorque el reino de los cielos es como un hombre que al emprender un viaje^b, llamó a sus siervos y les encomendó sus bienes. 15 Y a uno le dio cinco talentos^1a, a otro dos, y a otro uno, a cada uno conforme a su capacidad; y se fue de viaje^b. 16 El que había recibido los cinco talentos^a, enseguida fue y negoció con ellos y ganó otros cinco talentos. 17 Asimismo el que había recibido los dos talentos ganó otros dos. 18 Pero el que había recibido uno, fue y cavó en la tierra y escondió el dinero de su señor. 19 Después de mucho tiempo vino* el señor de aquellos siervos, y arregló* cuentas con ellos^a. 20 Y llegando el que había recibido los cinco talentos^a, trajo otros cinco talentos, diciendo: «Señor, me entregaste cinco talentos; mira, he ganado otros cinco talentos». 21 Su señor le dijo: «Bien, siervo bueno y fiel; en lo poco fuiste fiel, sobre mucho te pondré; entra en el gozo de tu señor^a». 22 Llegando también el de los dos talentos^a, dijo: «Señor, me entregaste dos talentos; mira, he ganado otros dos talentos». 23 Su señor le dijo: «Bien, siervo bueno y fiel; en lo poco fuiste fiel, sobre mucho te pondré; entra en el gozo de tu señor^a». 24 Pero llegando también el que había recibido un talento^a, dijo: «Señor, yo sabía que eres un hombre duro, que siegas donde no sembraste y recoges donde no esparciste, 25 y tuve miedo, y fui y escondí tu talento en la tierra; mira, aquí tienes lo que es tuyo». 26 Pero su señor respondió, y le dijo: «Siervo malo y perezoso, sabías que siego donde no sembré, y que recojo donde no esparcí. 27 Debías entonces haber puesto mi dinero en el banco¹, y al llegar yo hubiera recibido mi dinero² con intereses. 28 Por tanto, quitadle el talento y dádselo al que tiene los diez talentos». 29 Porque a todo el que tiene, más se le dará, y tendrá en abundancia; pero al que no tiene, aun lo que tiene se le quitará^a. 30 Y al siervo inútil, echadlo en las tinieblas de afuera; allí será el llanto y el crujir de dientes^a.

31 Pero cuando el Hijo del Hombre venga en su gloria, y todos los ángeles con Él^a, entonces se sentará en el trono de su gloria^b; 32 y serán reunidas delante de Él todas las naciones; y separará a unos de otros, como el pastor separa las ovejas de los cabritos^a. 33 Y pondrá las ovejas a su derecha^a y los cabritos a su izquierda^b. 34 Entonces el Rey dirá a los de su derecha: «Venid, benditos de mi Padre, heredad el reino preparado para vosotros^a desde la fundación del mundo^b. 35 Porque tuve hambre, y me disteis de comer^a; tuve sed, y me disteis de beber; fui forastero, y me recibisteis^b; 36 estaba desnudo, y me vestisteis^a; enfermo, y me visitasteis^b; en la cárcel, y vinisteis a mí^c». 37 Entonces los justos le responderán, diciendo: «Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos hambriento, y te dimos de comer, o sediento, y te dimos de beber? 38 ¿Y cuándo te vimos como forastero, y te recibimos, o desnudo, y te vestimos? 39 ¿Y cuándo te vimos enfermo, o en la cárcel, y vinimos a ti?». 40 Respondiendo el Rey, les dirá^a: «En verdad os digo que en cuanto lo hicisteis a uno de estos hermanos míos, aun a los más pequeños, a mí lo hicisteis^b». 41 Entonces dirá también a los de su izquierda: «Apartaos de mí^a, malditos, al fuego eterno^b que ha sido preparado para el diablo y sus ángeles^c. 42 Porque tuve hambre, y no me disteis de comer, tuve sed, y no me disteis de beber; 43 fui forastero, y no me recibisteis; estaba desnudo, y no me vestisteis; enfermo, y en la cárcel, y no me visitasteis». 44 Entonces ellos también responderán, diciendo: «Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos hambriento, o sediento, o como forastero, o desnudo, o enfermo, o en la cárcel, y no te servimos?». 45 Él entonces les responderá, diciendo: «En verdad os digo que en cuanto no lo hicisteis a uno de los más pequeños deestos, tampoco a mí lo hicisteis». 46 Yestos irán al castigo eterno^a, pero los justos a la vida eterna^b.

“Then ^athe kingdom of heaven will be comparable to ten virgins, who took their ^blamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish, and five were ^aprudent. 3 For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, 4 but the ^aprudent took oil in flasks along with their lamps. 5 Now while the bridegroom was delaying, they all got drowsy and began to sleep. 6 But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ 7 Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish said to the prudent, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the ^aprudent answered, ‘No, there will not be enough for us and you too; go instead to the dealers and buy some for yourselves.’ 10 And while they were going away to make the purchase, the bridegroom came, and those who were ^aready went in with him to ^bthe wedding feast; and ^cthe door was shut. 11 Later the other virgins also came, saying, ‘^aLord, lord, open up for us.’ 12 But he answered, ‘Truly I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 ^aBe on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour.

14 “^aFor it is just like a man ^babout to go on a journey, who called his own slaves and entrusted his possessions to them. 15 To one he gave five ^1atalents, to another, two, and to another, one, each according to his own ability; and he ^bwent on his journey. 16 Immediately the one who had received the five ^atalents went and traded with them, and gained five more talents. 17 In the same manner the one who had received the two talents gained two more. 18 But he who received the one talent went away, and dug a hole in the ground and hid his ¹master’s money.

19 “Now after a long time the master of those slaves *came and *^asettled accounts with them. 20 The one who had received the five ^atalents came up and brought five more talents, saying, ‘Master, you entrusted five talents to me. See, I have gained five more talents.’ 21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and ^afaithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will ^bput you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your ¹master.’

22 “Also the one who had received the two ^atalents came up and said, ‘Master, you entrusted two talents to me. See, I have gained two more talents.’ 23 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and ^afaithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’

24 “And the one also who had received the one ^atalent came up and said, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you scattered no seed. 25 And I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is yours.’

26 “But his master answered and said to him, ‘You wicked, lazy slave, you knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I scattered no seed. 27 Then you ought to have put my money ¹in the bank, and on my arrival I would have received my money back with interest. 28 Therefore take away the talent from him, and give it to the one who has the ten talents.’

29 “^aFor to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away. 30 Throw out the worthless slave into ^athe outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

31 “But when ^athe Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then ^bHe will sit on His glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be ^agathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, ^bas the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; 33 and He will put the sheep ^aon His right, and the goats ^bon the left.

34 “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, ^ainherit the kingdom prepared for you ^bfrom the foundation of the world. 35 For ^aI was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; ^bI was a stranger, and you invited Me in; 36 ^anaked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you ^bvisited Me; ^cI was in prison, and you came to Me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 38 And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 39 When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 ^aThe King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, ^bto the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’

41 “Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘^aDepart from Me, accursed ones, into the ^beternal fire which has been prepared for ^cthe devil and his angels; 42 for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; 43 I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.’ 44 Then they themselves also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not ¹take care of You?’ 45 Then He will answer them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46 These will go away into ^aeternal punishment, but the righteous into ^beternal life.”

“Then ^athe kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their ^blamps and went to ¹meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish thoughtless, silly, and careless, and five were ^awise far-sighted, practical, and sensible. 3 For when the foolish took their lamps, they did not take any extra oil with them, 4 but the ^awise took flasks of oil along with their lamps. 5 Now while the bridegroom was delayed, they all began to nod off, and they fell asleep. 6 But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Look! The bridegroom is coming! Go out to meet him.’ 7 Then all those virgins got up and put their own lamps in order trimmed the wicks and added oil and lit them. 8 But the foolish virgins said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the ^awise replied, ‘No, otherwise there will not be enough for us and for you, too; go instead to the dealers and buy oil for yourselves.’ 10 But while they were going away to buy oil, the bridegroom came, and those who were ^aready went in with him to ^bthe wedding feast; and ^cthe door was shut and locked. 11 Later the others also came, and said, ‘^aLord, Lord, open the door for us.’ 12 But He replied, ‘I assure you and most solemnly say to you, I do not know you we have no relationship.’ 13 ^aTherefore, be on the alert be prepared and ready, for you do not know the day nor the hour when the Son of Man will come.

14 “^aFor it is just like a man who was about ^bto take a journey, and he called his servants together and entrusted them with his possessions. Luke 19:12-27 15 To one he gave five ^1atalents, to another, two, and to another, one, each according to his own ability; and then he ^bwent on his journey. 16 The one who had received the five ^atalents went at once and traded with them, and he made a profit and gained five more. 17 Likewise the one who had two made a profit and gained two more. 18 But the one who had received the one went and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.

See, I have made a profit and gained two more talents.’ 23 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and ^afaithful servant. You have been faithful and trustworthy over a little, I will put you in charge of many things; share in the joy of your master.’

24 “The one who had received one ^atalent also came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a harsh and demanding man, reaping the harvest where you did not sow and gathering where you did not scatter seed. 25 So I was afraid to lose the talent, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is your own.’

26 “But his master answered him, ‘You wicked, lazy servant, you knew that I reap the harvest where I did not sow and gather where I did not scatter seed. 27 Then you ought to have put my money with the bankers, and at my return I would have received my money back with interest. 28 So take the talent away from him, and give it to the one who has the ten talents.’

29 “^aFor to everyone who has and values his blessings and gifts from God, and has used them wisely, more will be given, and he will be richly supplied so that he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have because he has ignored or disregarded his blessings and gifts from God, even what he does have will be taken away. Matt 13:12; Luke 19:26 30 And throw out the worthless servant into ^athe outer darkness; in that place of grief and torment there will be weeping over sorrow and pain and grinding of teeth over distress and anger.

31 “But when ^athe Son of Man comes in His glory and majesty and all the angels with Him, then ^bHe will sit on the throne of His glory. Rev 20:4-6 32 All the nations will be ^agathered before Him for judgment; and He will separate them from one another, ^bas a shepherd separates his sheep from the goats; Ezek 34:17 33 and He will put the sheep ^aon His right the place of honor, and the goats ^bon His left the place of rejection.

34 “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father you favored of God, appointed to eternal salvation, ^ainherit the kingdom prepared for you ^bfrom the foundation of the world. 35 For ^aI was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; ^bI was a stranger, and you invited Me in; 36 I was ^anaked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you ^bvisited Me with help and ministering care; ^cI was in prison, and you came to Me ignoring personal danger.’ Is 58:7 37 Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 38 And when did we see You as a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 39 And when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 ^aThe King will answer and say to them, ‘I assure you and most solemnly say to you, ^bto the extent that you did it for one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it for Me.’ Prov 19:17

41 “Then He will say to those on His left, ‘^aLeave Me, you cursed ones, into the ^beternal fire which has been prepared for ^cthe devil and his angels (demons) ; 42 for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; 43 I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me with help and ministering care.’ 44 Then they also in their turn will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or as a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ 45 Then He will reply to them, ‘I assure you and most solemnly say to you, to the extent that you did not do it for one of the least of these my followers, you did not do it for Me.’ Prov 14:31; 17:5 46 Then these unbelieving people will go away into ^aeternal (unending) punishment, but those who are righteous and in right standing with God will go, by His remarkable grace into ^beternal (unending) life.” Dan 12:2
