Eliú censura a Job

Por tanto, Job, oye ahora mi discurso,y presta atención a todas mis palabras^a.2 He aquí, ahora abro mi boca,en mi paladar habla mi lengua.3 Mis palabras proceden de la rectitud de mi corazón,y con sinceridad mis labios hablan lo que saben¹^a.4 El Espíritu de Dios me ha hecho^a,y el aliento del Todopoderoso¹ me da vida^b.5 Contradíceme si puedes^a;colócate delante de mí, ponte en pie.6 He aquí, yo como tú, pertenezco a Dios;del barro yo también he sido formado¹^a.7 He aquí, mi temor no te debe espantar,ni mi mano¹ agravarse sobre ti^a.

8 Ciertamente has hablado a oídos míos,y el sonido de tus palabras he oído:9 «Yo soy limpio^a, sin transgresión^b;soy inocente y en mí no hay culpa^c.10 »He aquí, Él busca¹ pretextos contra mí;me tiene por enemigo suyo^a.11 »Pone mis pies en el cepo;vigila todas mis sendas^a».12 He aquí, déjame decirte¹ que no tienes razón en esto,porque Dios es más grande que el hombre^a.

13 ¿Por qué te quejas contra Él,diciendo que no da cuenta de todas sus acciones^a?14 Ciertamente Dios habla una vez,y otra vez¹^a, pero nadie se da cuenta de ello.15 ^aEn un sueño, en una visión nocturna,cuando un sueño profundo cae sobre los hombres,mientras dormitan en sus lechos,16 entonces Él abre el oído de los hombres,y sella su instrucción^a,17 para apartar al hombre de sus obras,y del orgullo guardarlo¹;18 libra su alma de la fosa^ay su vida de pasar al Seol¹^b.

19 El hombre es castigado también con dolor en su lecho,y con queja continua en sus huesos^a,20 para que su vida aborrezca el pan,y su alma el alimento favorito^a.21 Su carne desaparece a la vista^a,y sus huesos que no se veían, aparecen^b.22 Entonces su alma se acerca a la fosa^a,y su vida a los que causan la muerte.

23 Si hay un ángel que sea su mediador^a,uno entre mil,para declarar al hombre lo que es bueno para él¹,24 y que tenga piedad de él, y diga:«Líbralo de descender a la fosa^a,he hallado su rescate^b»;25 que su carne se vuelva más tierna que en su juventud,que regrese a los días de su vigor juvenil.26 Entonces orará a Dios, y Él lo aceptará^a,para que vea con gozo su rostro^b,y restaure su justicia al hombre.27 Cantará él a los hombres y dirá:«He pecado^a y pervertido lo que es justo^b,y no es apropiado para mí.28 »Él ha redimido mi alma de descender a la fosa,y mi vida verá la luz^a».

29 He aquí, Dios hace todo esto a menudo¹ con los hombres^a,30 para rescatar su alma de la fosa^a,para que sea iluminado con la luz de la vida.31 Pon atención, Job, escúchame;calla, y déjame hablar.32 Si algo tienes que decir¹, respóndeme;habla, porque deseo justificarte.33 Si no, escúchame;calla, y te enseñaré sabiduría^a.

Elihu Claims to Speak for God

“However now, Job, please ^ahear my speech,And listen to all my words.2 “Behold now, I open my mouth,My tongue in my ¹mouth speaks.3 “My words are from the uprightness of my heart,And my lips speak ^aknowledge sincerely.4 “The ^aSpirit of God has made me,And the ^bbreath of ¹the Almighty gives me life.5 “^aRefute me if you can;Array yourselves before me, take your stand.6 “Behold, I belong to God like you;I too have been ¹formed out of the ^aclay.7 “Behold, ^ano fear of me should terrify you,Nor should my pressure weigh heavily on you.

8 “Surely you have spoken in my hearing,And I have heard the sound of your words:9 ‘I am ^apure, ^bwithout transgression;I am innocent and there ^cis no guilt in me.10 ‘Behold, He ¹invents pretexts against me;He ^acounts me as His enemy.11 ‘He ^aputs my feet in the stocks;He watches all my paths.’12 “Behold, let me ¹tell you, ^ayou are not right in this,For God is greater than man.

13 “Why do you ^acomplain against HimThat He does not give an account of all His doings?14 “Indeed ^aGod speaks once,Or twice, yet no one notices it.15 “In a ^adream, a vision of the night,When sound sleep falls on men,While they slumber in their beds,16 Then ^aHe opens the ears of men,And seals their instruction,17 That He may turn man aside from his conduct,And ¹keep man from pride;18 He ^akeeps back his soul from the pit,And his life from ¹passing over ^binto Sheol.

19 “¹Man is also chastened with ^apain on his bed,And with unceasing complaint in his bones;20 So that his life ^aloathes bread,And his soul favorite food.21 “His ^aflesh wastes away from sight,And his ^bbones which were not seen stick out.22 “Then ^ahis soul draws near to the pit,And his life to those who bring death.

23 “If there is an angel as ^amediator for him,One out of a thousand,To remind a man what is ¹right for him,24 Then let him be gracious to him, and say,‘Deliver him from ^agoing down to the pit,I have found a ^bransom’;25 Let his flesh become fresher than in youth,Let him return to the days of his youthful vigor;26 Then he will ^apray to God, and He will accept him,That ^bhe may see His face with joy,And He may restore His righteousness to man.27 “He will sing to men and say,‘I ^ahave sinned and perverted what is right,And it is not ^bproper for me.28 ‘He has redeemed my soul from going to the pit,And my life shall ^asee the light.’

29 “Behold, God does ^aall these ¹oftentimes with men,30 To ^abring back his soul from the pit,That he may be enlightened with the light of life.31 “Pay attention, O Job, listen to me;Keep silent, and let me speak.32 “Then if ¹you have anything to say, answer me;Speak, for I desire to justify you.33 “If not, ^alisten to me;Keep silent, and I will teach you wisdom.”

Elihu Claims to Speak for God

“However, Job, please ^alisten to my words,And pay attention to everything I say.2 “Behold, I have opened my mouth to begin my speech;My tongue in my mouth is going to speak.3 “My words will express the uprightness of my heart,And my lips will speak ^awhat they know with utter sincerity.4 “The ^aSpirit of God has made me,And the ^bbreath of ¹the Almighty gives me life which inspires me.5 “^aAnswer me, if you can;Set yourselves before me, take your stand.6 “Behold, I belong to God like you;I too was formed out of the ^aclay.7 “Behold, I will ^anot make you afraid or terrified of me for I am only mortal and not God,Nor should any pressure from me weigh heavily upon you.

8 “Surely you have spoken in my hearing,And I have heard the sound of your words, saying:9 ‘I am ^apure, ^bwithout transgression;I am innocent and there ^cis no guilt in me.10 ‘Behold, God finds pretexts against me;^aHe counts me as His enemy.11 ‘He ^aputs my feet in the stocks to hinder and humiliate me;He suspiciously watches all my paths,’ you say.12 “Look, let me answer you, ^ain this you are not right or just;For God is greater and far superior to man.

13 “Why do you ^acomplain against Him?That He does not answer you with all His doings.14 “For ^aGod speaks once,And even twice, yet no one notices it including you, Job.15 “In a ^adream, a vision of the night one may hear God’s voice,When deep sleep falls on menWhile slumbering upon the bed,16 Then ^aHe opens the ears of menAnd seals their instruction,17 That He may turn man aside from his conduct,And keep him from pride;18 He ^aholds back his soul from the pit of destruction,And his life from ^bpassing over into Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead) .

19 “Man is also disciplined with ^apain on his bed,And with unceasing complaint in his bones,20 So that his life makes him ^aloathe food,And his soul loathe even his favorite dishes.21 “His ^aflesh is so wasted away that it cannot be seen,And his ^bbones which were not seen now stick out.22 “Then ^ahis soul draws near to the pit of destruction,And his life to those who bring death (the destroyers) .

23 “If there is an angel as a ^amediator for him,One out of a thousand,To explain to a man what is right for him that is, how to be in right standing with God,24 Then ¹the angel is gracious to him, and says,‘Spare him from ^agoing down to the pit of destruction;I have found a ^bransom a consideration, or reason for redemption, an atonement!’25 “Let his flesh be restored and become fresher than in youth;Let him return to the days of his youthful strength.26 “He will ^apray to God, and He shall be favorable to him,So that ^bhe looks at His face with joy;For God restores to man His righteousness that is, his right standing with God—with its joys.27 “He sings out to other men,‘I ^ahave sinned and perverted that which was right,And it was not ^bproper for me!28 ‘God has redeemed my life from going to the pit of destruction,And my life shall ^asee the light.’”

29 Elihu comments, “Behold, God does ^aall these things ¹twice, yes, three times, with a man,30 To ^abring his life back from the pit of destruction,That he may be enlightened with the light of the living.31 “Pay attention, Job, listen to me;Keep silent, and I will speak.32 “If you have anything to say, answer me;Speak, for I desire to justify you.33 “If not and you have nothing to say, ^alisten to me;Keep silent, and I will teach you wisdom.”
