Por tanto, debemos prestar mucha mayor atención a lo que hemos oído¹, no sea que nos desviemos^a. 2 Porque si la palabra hablada^a por medio de ángeles^b resultó ser inmutable¹, y toda transgresión y desobediencia^c recibió una justa retribución^d, 3 ¿cómo escaparemos nosotros si descuidamos^a una salvación^b tan grande? La cual, después que fue anunciada^1c primeramente por medio del Señor, nos fue confirmada^d por los que oyeron, 4 testificando Dios juntamente con ellos, tanto por señales^1a como por prodigios^b, y por diversos milagros^2c y por dones³ del Espíritu Santo^d según su propia voluntad^e.

5 Porque no sujetó a los ángeles el mundo venidero^1a, acerca del cual estamos hablando. 6 Pero uno ha testificado en cierto lugar^a diciendo:¿QUÉ ES EL HOMBRE PARA QUE DE ÉL TE ACUERDES,O EL HIJO DEL HOMBRE PARA QUE TE INTERESES EN ÉL^b?

9 Pero vemos a aquel que fue hecho un poco inferior a los ángeles^a, es decir, a Jesús, coronado de gloria y honor^b a causa del padecimiento de la muerte^c, para que por la gracia de Dios^d probara la muerte^e por todos^f. 10 Porque convenía que aquel^a para quien son todas las cosas y por quien son todas las cosas^b, llevando muchos hijos a la gloria, hiciera perfecto^c por medio de los padecimientos al autor¹ de la salvación de ellos^d. 11 Porque tanto el que santifica^a como los que son santificados^b, son todos de un Padre^c; por lo cual Él no se avergüenza de llamarlos hermanos^d, 12 diciendo:ANUNCIARÉ TU NOMBRE A MIS HERMANOS,EN MEDIO DE LA CONGREGACIÓN¹ TE CANTARÉ HIMNOS^a. 13 Y otra vez:YO EN ÉL CONFIARÉ^1a.Y otra vez:HE AQUÍ, YO Y LOS HIJOS QUE DIOS ME HA DADO^b. 14 Así que, por cuanto los hijos participan de carne y sangre^1a, Él igualmente participó también de lo mismo^b, para anular mediante la muerte el poder^c de aquel que tenía el poder de la muerte, es decir, el diablo^d, 15 y librar a los que por el temor a la muerte, estaban sujetos a esclavitud^a durante toda la vida. 16 Porque ciertamente no ayuda a los ángeles, sino que ayuda a¹ la descendencia² de Abraham. 17 Por tanto, tenía que ser¹ hecho semejante a sus hermanos^a en todo, a fin de que llegara a ser un misericordioso y fiel^b sumo sacerdote^c en las cosas que a Dios atañen^d, para hacer propiciación^e por los pecados del pueblo. 18 Pues por cuanto Él mismo fue tentado^a en el sufrimiento, es poderoso para socorrer a¹ los que son tentados.

For this reason we must pay much closer attention to ¹what we have heard, so that ^awe do not drift away from it. 2 For if the word ^aspoken through ^bangels proved ¹unalterable, and ^cevery transgression and disobedience received a just ^2dpenalty, 3 ^ahow will we escape if we neglect so great a ^bsalvation? ¹After it was at the first ^cspoken through the Lord, it was ^dconfirmed to us by those who heard, 4 God also testifying with them, both by ^asigns and wonders and by ^bvarious ¹miracles and by ^2cgifts of the Holy Spirit ^daccording to His own will.

5 For He did not subject to angels ^1athe world to come, concerning which we are speaking. 6 But one has testified ^asomewhere, saying,“^bWHAT IS MAN, THAT YOU REMEMBER HIM?OR THE SON OF MAN, THAT YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT HIM?

9 But we do see Him who was ^amade ¹for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, ^bbecause of the suffering of death ^ccrowned with glory and honor, so that ^dby the grace of God He might ^etaste death ^ffor everyone.

10 For ^ait was fitting for Him, ^bfor whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to ^cperfect the ^1dauthor of their salvation through sufferings. 11 For both He who ^asanctifies and those who ^bare ¹sanctified are all ^cfrom one Father; for which reason He is not ashamed to call them ^dbrethren, 12 saying,“^aI WILL PROCLAIM YOUR NAME TO MY BRETHREN,IN THE MIDST OF THE CONGREGATION I WILL SING YOUR PRAISE.” 13 And again,“^aI WILL PUT MY TRUST IN HIM.”And again,“^bBEHOLD, I AND THE CHILDREN WHOM GOD HAS GIVEN ME.”

14 Therefore, since the children share in ^1aflesh and blood, ^bHe Himself likewise also partook of the same, that ^cthrough death He might render powerless ^dhim who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and might free those who through ^afear of death were subject to slavery all their lives. 16 For assuredly He does not ¹give help to angels, but He gives help to the ²descendant of Abraham. 17 Therefore, He ¹had ^ato be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might ^bbecome a merciful and faithful ^chigh priest in ^dthings pertaining to God, to ^emake propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For since He Himself was ^atempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.

¹For this reason that is, because of God’s final revelation in His Son Jesus and because of Jesus’ superiority to the angels we must pay much closer attention than ever to the things that we have heard, so that ^awe do not in any way drift away from truth. 2 For if the message ^agiven ¹through ^bangels the Law given to Moses was authentic and unalterable, and ^cevery violation and disobedient act received an appropriate ^dpenalty, 3 ^ahow will we escape the penalty if we ignore such a great ^bsalvation the gospel, the new covenant? For it was ^cspoken at first by the Lord, and it was ^dconfirmed to us and proved authentic by those who personally heard Him speak, 4 and besides this evidence God also testifying with them confirming the message of salvation, both by ^asigns and wonders and by ^bvarious miracles carried out by Jesus and the apostles and by granting to believers the ^cgifts of the Holy Spirit ^daccording to His own will.

5 It was not to angels that God subjected ^athe inhabited world of the future when Christ reigns, about which we are speaking. 6 But one has solemnly testified ^asomewhere in Scripture, saying,“^bWHAT IS MAN, THAT YOU ARE MINDFUL OF HIM,OR THE SON OF MAN, THAT YOU GRACIOUSLY CARE FOR HIM?

9 But we do see Jesus, who was ^amade lower than the angels for a little while by taking on the limitations of humanity, ^bcrowned with glory and honor ^cbecause of His suffering of death, so that ^dby the grace of God extended to sinners He might ^eexperience death ^ffor the sins of everyone.

10 For ^ait was fitting for God that is, an act worthy of His divine nature that He, ^bfor whose sake are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the ^1cauthor and founder of their salvation ^dperfect through suffering bringing to maturity the human experience necessary for Him to be perfectly equipped for His office as High Priest. 11 Both Jesus who ^asanctifies and those who ^bare sanctified that is, spiritually transformed, made holy, and set apart for God’s purpose are all ^cfrom one Father; for this reason He is not ashamed to call them ^1dbrothers and sisters, 12 saying,“^aI WILL DECLARE YOUR (the Father’s) NAME TO MY BRETHREN (believers) ,IN THE MIDST OF THE CONGREGATION I WILL SING YOUR PRAISE.” Ps 22:22 13 And again ¹He says,“^aMY TRUST and CONFIDENT HOPE WILL BE PLACED IN HIM.”And again,“^bHERE I AM, I AND THE CHILDREN WHOM GOD HAS GIVEN ME.” Is 8:17, 18

14 Therefore, since these His children share in ^aflesh and blood the physical nature of mankind, ^bHe Himself in a similar manner also shared in the same physical nature, but without sin, so that ^cthrough experiencing death He might make powerless (ineffective, impotent) ^dhim who had the power of death—that is, the devil— 15 and that He might free all those who through the haunting ^afear of death were held in slavery throughout their lives. 16 For, as we all know, He (Christ) does not take hold of the fallen angels to give them a helping hand, but He does take hold of the fallen descendants of Abraham extending to them His hand of deliverance. Is 41:8, 9 17 Therefore, it was essential that He had ^ato be made like His brothers (mankind) in every respect, so that He might by experience ^bbecome a merciful and faithful ^cHigh Priest in ^dthings related to God, to ^emake atonement (propitiation) for the people’s sins thereby wiping away the sin, satisfying divine justice, and providing a way of reconciliation between God and mankind. 18 Because He Himself in His humanity has suffered in being ^atempted, He is able to help and provide immediate assistance to those who are being tempted and exposed to suffering.
