Así fueron acabados los cielos y la tierra y todas sus huestes^a. 2 Y en el séptimo día completó Dios la¹ obra que había hecho^a, y reposó en el día séptimo de toda la² obra que había hecho^b. 3 Y bendijo Dios el séptimo día y lo santificó, porque en él reposó de toda la¹ obra que Él² había creado y hecho³.

4 Estos son los orígenes¹ de los cielos y de la tierra cuando fueron creados^a, el día en que el SEÑOR Dios hizo la tierra y los cielos^b. 5 Y aún no había ningún arbusto del campo en la tierra, ni había aún brotado ninguna planta¹ del campo^a, porque el SEÑOR Dios no había enviado lluvia sobre la tierra^b, ni había hombre para labrar² la tierra. 6 Pero se levantaba de la tierra un vapor¹ que regaba toda la superficie² del suelo. 7 Entonces el SEÑOR Dios formó al hombre del polvo de la tierra^a, y sopló en su nariz el aliento de vida; y fue el hombre un ser¹ viviente^b. 8 Y plantó el SEÑOR Dios un huerto hacia el oriente, en Edén^a; y puso allí al hombre que había formado. 9 Y el SEÑOR Dios hizo brotar de la tierra todo árbol agradable a la vista y bueno para comer^a; asimismo, en medio del huerto, el árbol de la vida y el árbol del conocimiento¹ del bien y del mal^b.

10 Y del Edén salía un río^a para regar el huerto, y de allí se dividía y se convertía en otros cuatro ríos¹. 11 El nombre del primero es Pisón;este es el que rodea toda la tierra de Havila^a, donde hay oro. 12 El oro de aquella tierra es bueno; allí hay bedelio y ónice. 13 Y el nombre del segundo río es Gihón;este es el que rodea la tierra de Cus. 14 Y el nombre del tercer río es Tigris^1a;este es el que corre² al oriente de Asiria. Y el cuarto río es el Eufrates^3b. 15 Entonces el SEÑOR Dios tomó al hombre y lo puso en el huerto del Edén, para que lo cultivara y lo cuidara. 16 Y ordenó el SEÑOR Dios al hombre, diciendo: De todo árbol del huerto podrás comer^a, 17 pero del árbol del conocimiento¹ del bien y del mal no comerás², porque el día que de él comas, ciertamente morirás^a.

18 Y el SEÑOR Dios dijo: No es bueno que el hombre esté solo; le haré una ayuda idónea^1a. 19 Y el SEÑOR Dios formó de la tierra todo animal del campo y toda ave del cielo^a, y los trajo al hombre^b para ver cómo los llamaría; y como el hombre llamó a cada ser viviente,ese fue su nombre. 20 Y el hombre puso nombre a todo ganado y a las aves del cielo y a toda bestia del campo, mas para Adán¹ no se encontró una ayuda que fuera idónea para él^2a. 21 Entonces el SEÑOR Dios hizo caer un sueño profundo^a sobre el hombre, yeste se durmió; y Dios tomó una de sus costillas, y cerró la carne en ese lugar. 22 Y de la costilla que el SEÑOR Dios había tomado del hombre^a, formó¹ una mujer y la trajo al hombre. 23 Y el hombre dijo:Esta es ahora hueso de mis huesos,y carne de mi carne^a;ella¹ será llamada mujer²,porque del hombre³ fue tomada. 24 Por tanto el hombre dejará a su padre y a su madre y se unirá a su mujer, y serán una sola carne^a. 25 Y estaban ambos desnudos, el hombre y su mujer, y no se avergonzaban^a.

Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all ^atheir hosts. 2 By ^athe seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and ^bHe rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created ¹and made.

4 ^1aThis is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in ^bthe day that the LORD God made earth and heaven. 5 ^aNow no shrub of the field was yet in the earth, and no plant of the field had yet sprouted, ^bfor the LORD God had not sent rain upon the earth, and there was no man to ¹cultivate the ground. 6 But a ¹mist used to rise from the earth and water the whole ²surface of the ground. 7 Then the LORD God formed man of ^adust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and ^bman became a living ¹being. 8 The LORD God planted a ^agarden toward the east, in Eden; and there He placed the man whom He had formed. 9 Out of the ground the LORD God caused to grow ^aevery tree that is pleasing to the sight and good for food; ^bthe tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

10 Now a ^ariver ¹flowed out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it divided and became four ²rivers. 11 The name of the first is Pishon; it ¹flows around the whole land of ^aHavilah, where there is gold. 12 The gold of that land is good; the bdellium and the onyx stone are there. 13 The name of the second river is Gihon; it ¹flows around the whole land of Cush. 14 The name of the third river is ^1aTigris; it ²flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the ^3bEuphrates.

15 Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. 16 The LORD God ^acommanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; 17 but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not ¹eat, for in the day that you eat from it ^ayou will surely die.”

18 Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; ^aI will make him a helper ¹suitable for him.” 19 ^aOut of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the ¹sky, and ^bbrought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name. 20 The man gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the ¹sky, and to every beast of the field, but for ²Adam there was not found ^aa helper ³suitable for him. 21 So the LORD God caused a ^adeep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. 22 The LORD God ¹fashioned into a woman ^athe rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. 23 The man said,“^aThis is now bone of my bones,And flesh of my flesh;¹She shall be called ²Woman,Because ³she was taken out of ⁴Man.” 24 ^aFor this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. 25 ^aAnd the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.

So the heavens and the earth were completed, and all ^atheir hosts (inhabitants) . 2 And by ^athe seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and ^bHe rested (ceased) on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Heb 4:9, 10 3 So God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it as His own, that is, set it apart as holy from other days, because in it He rested from all His work which He had created and done. Ex 20:11

4 ^aThis is the history of the origin of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in ^bthe day that is, days of creation that the ¹LORD God made the earth and the heavens— 5 ^ano shrub or plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprouted, ^bfor the LORD God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to ¹cultivate the ground, 6 but a ¹mist (fog, dew, vapor) used to rise from the land and water the entire surface of the ground— 7 then the LORD God ¹formed that is, created the body of man from the ^2adust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the ^bman became a living being an individual complete in body and spirit. 1+@Cor 15:45-49 8 And the LORD God ¹planted a ^agarden (oasis) in the east, in Eden (delight, land of happiness) ; and He put the man whom He had formed (created) there. 9 And in that garden the LORD God caused to grow from the ground ^aevery tree that is desirable and pleasing to the sight and good (suitable, pleasant) for food; ^bthe tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the experiential knowledge (recognition) of the difference between good and evil. 10 Now a ^ariver flowed out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it divided and became four branching rivers. 11 The first river is named Pishon; it flows around the entire land of ^aHavilah, where there is gold. 12 The gold of that land is good; bdellium (a fragrant, valuable resin) and the ¹onyx stone are found there. 13 The name of the second river is Gihon; it flows around the entire land of Cush in Mesopotamia. 14 The third river is named ^aHiddekel (Tigris) ; it flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the ^bEuphrates.

15 So the LORD God took the man He had made and settled him in the Garden of Eden to cultivate and keep it. 16 And the LORD God ^acommanded the man, saying, “You may freely (unconditionally) eat the fruit from every tree of the garden; 17 but only from the tree of the knowledge (recognition) of good and evil you shall not eat, otherwise on the day that you eat from it, ^ayou shall most certainly ¹die because of your disobedience.”

18 Now the LORD God said, “It is not good (beneficial) for the man to be alone; ^aI will make him a helper one who balances him—a counterpart who is ¹suitable and complementary for him.” 19 ^aSo the LORD God formed out of the ground every animal of the field and every bird of the air, and ^bbrought them to Adam to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name. 20 And the man gave names to all the livestock, and to the birds of the air, and to every animal of the field; but for Adam there was not found ^aa helper that was suitable (a companion) for him. 21 So the LORD God caused a ^adeep sleep to fall upon Adam; and while he slept, He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. 22 And ^athe rib which the LORD God had taken from the man He made (fashioned, formed) into a woman, and He brought her and presented her to the man. 23 Then Adam said,“^aThis is now bone of my bones,And flesh of my flesh;She shall be called Woman,Because she was taken out of Man.” 24 ^aFor this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.
