Pues bien, he tomado todas estas cosas en mi corazón y declaro¹ todo esto: que los justos y los sabios y sus hechos están en la mano de Dios^a. Los hombres no saben^b ni de amor ni de odio^c, aunque todo está delante de ellos.

2 A todos les sucede lo mismo^a:Hay una misma suerte para el justo y para el impío;para el bueno¹, para el limpio y para el inmundo;para el que ofrece sacrificio y para el que no sacrifica.Como el bueno, así es el pecador;como el que jura, así es el que teme jurar^2b. 3 Este mal hay en todo lo que se hace bajo el sol: que hay una misma suerte para todos^a. Además, el corazón de los hijos de los hombres está lleno de maldad^b y hay locura^c en su corazón toda su vida. Después se van a los muertos. 4 Para cualquiera que está unido con los vivos, hay esperanza; ciertamente un perro vivo es mejor que un león muerto.

9 Goza de la vida con la mujer que amas, todos los días de tu vida fugaz^1a que Él te ha dado bajo el sol, todos los días de tu vanidad, porque esta es tu parte en la vida y en el trabajo con que te afanas bajo el sol^b.

10 Todo lo que tu mano halle para hacer, hazlo según tus fuerzas^a; porque no hay actividad ni propósito ni conocimiento ni sabiduría^b en el Seol^1c adonde vas.

12 Porque el hombre tampoco conoce su tiempo^a:como peces atrapados en la red traicionera,y como aves apresadas en la trampa^b,así son atrapados los hijos de los hombres^c en el tiempo malocuandoeste cae de repente sobre ellos^d.

13 También esto llegué a ver como sabiduría bajo el sol, y me impresionó¹: 14 Había una pequeña ciudad con pocos hombres en ella. Llegó¹ un gran rey, la cercó y construyó contra ella grandes baluartes; 15 pero en ella se hallaba un hombre pobre y sabio^a; y él con su sabiduría libró¹ la ciudad^b; sin embargo, nadie se acordó de aquel hombre pobre^c. 16 Y yo me dije:Mejor es la sabiduría que la fuerza^a;pero la sabiduría del pobre se despreciay no se presta atención a sus palabras.

For I have taken all this to my heart and explain ¹it that righteous men, wise men, and their deeds are ^ain the hand of God. ^bMan does not know whether it will be ^clove or hatred; anything ²awaits him.

2 ^aIt is the same for all. There is ^bone fate for the righteous and for the wicked; for the good, for the clean and for the unclean; for the man who offers a sacrifice and for the one who does not sacrifice. As the good man is, so is the sinner; as the swearer is, so is the one who ¹is afraid to swear. 3 This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that there is ^aone fate for all men. Furthermore, ^bthe hearts of the sons of men are full of evil and ^cinsanity is in their hearts throughout their lives. Afterwards they go to the dead. 4 For whoever is joined with all the living, there is hope; surely a live dog is better than a dead lion. 5 For the living know they will die; but the dead ^ado not know anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their ^bmemory is forgotten. 6 Indeed their love, their hate and their zeal have already perished, and they will no longer have a ^ashare in all that is done under the sun.

7 Go then, ^aeat your bread in happiness and drink your wine with a cheerful heart; for God has already approved your works. 8 Let your ^aclothes be white all the time, and let not ^boil be lacking on your head. 9 Enjoy life with the woman whom you love all the days of your ^1afleeting life which He has given to you under the sun²; for this is your ^breward in life and in your toil in which you have labored under the sun.

10 Whatever your hand finds to do, ^ado it with all your might; for there is no ^bactivity or planning or knowledge or wisdom in ^cSheol where you are going.

11 I again saw under the sun that the ^arace is not to the swift and the ^bbattle is not to the warriors, and neither is bread to the wise nor ^cwealth to the discerning nor favor to men of ability; for time and ^dchance overtake them all. 12 Moreover, man does not ^aknow his time: like fish caught in a treacherous net and ^bbirds trapped in a snare, so the sons of men are ^censnared at an evil time when it ^dsuddenly falls on them.

13 Also this I came to see as wisdom under the sun, and ¹it impressed me. 14 There ^awas a small city with few men in it and a great king came to it, surrounded it and constructed large siegeworks against it. 15 But there was found in it a ^apoor wise man and he ¹delivered the city ^bby his wisdom. Yet ^cno one remembered that poor man. 16 So I said, “^aWisdom is better than strength.” But the wisdom of the poor man is despised and his words are not heeded. 17 The ^awords of the wise heard in quietness are better than the shouting of a ruler among fools. 18 ^aWisdom is better than weapons of war, but ^bone sinner destroys much good.

For I have taken all this to heart, exploring and examining it all, how the righteous (those in right standing with God) and the wise and their deeds are ^ain the hands of God. ^bNo man knows whether it will be ^clove or hatred; anything awaits him.

For this is your ^breward in life and in your work in which you have labored under the sun.

10 Whatever your hand finds to do, ^ado it with all your might; for there is no ^bactivity or planning or knowledge or wisdom in ^cSheol (the nether world, the place of the dead) where you are going.

11 I again saw under the sun that the ^arace is not to the swift and the ^bbattle is not to the strong, and neither is bread to the wise nor ^criches to those of intelligence and understanding nor favor to men of ability; but time and ^dchance overtake them all. Ps 33:16-19; Rom 9:16 12 For man also does not ^aknow his time of death; like fish caught in a treacherous net, and ^bbirds caught in the snare, so the sons of men ^care ensnared in an evil time when a dark cloud ^dsuddenly falls on them.

13 This illustration of wisdom I have also seen under the sun, and great it was to me: 14 There ^awas a little city with few men in it and a great king came against it and besieged it and built great battlements against it. 15 But there was found in it a ^apoor wise man, and ^bby his wisdom he rescued the city. Yet ^cno man seriously remembered that poor man. 16 But I say that ^awisdom is better than strength, though the poor man’s wisdom is despised and his words are not heeded. 17 The ^awords of wise men heard in quietness are better than the shouting of one who rules among fools. 18 ^aWisdom is better than weapons of war, but ^bone sinner destroys much good.
