Castigo de Israel

Oíd esta palabra que el SEÑOR ha hablado contra vosotros, hijos de Israel, contra toda la familia¹^a que hizo² subir de la tierra de Egipto, diciendo:

2 Solo a vosotros he escogido¹ de todas las familias de la tierra^a;por eso os castigaré² por todas vuestras iniquidades^b.3 ¿Andan dos hombres juntos si no se han puesto de acuerdo?4 ¿Ruge un león^a en la selva sin tener presa?¿Gruñe¹ un leoncillo desde su guarida si no ha apresado algo?5 ¿Cae un ave en la trampa en la tierra si no hay cebo en ella¹?¿Se levanta la trampa del suelo si no ha atrapado algo?6 Si se toca la trompeta en la ciudad^a, ¿no temblará el pueblo?Si sucede una calamidad en la ciudad, ¿no la ha causado el SEÑOR^b?7 Ciertamente¹ el Señor DIOS² no hace nadasin revelar su secretoa sus siervos los profetas^a.8 Ha rugido un león, ¿quién no temerá?Ha hablado el Señor DIOS^a, ¿quién no profetizará^b?

9 Proclamad en los palacios¹ de Asdod^a y en los palacios² de la tierra de Egipto, y decid: Congregaos en los montes de Samaria^b y ved los grandes tumultos dentro de ella y la opresión³ en medio suyo^c. 10 No saben hacer lo recto^a—declara el SEÑOR—los que acumulan violencia¹ y destrucción en sus palacios^b.

11 Por tanto, así dice el Señor DIOS:Un enemigo^a, rodeando la tierra,echará abajo tu poder¹y tus palacios serán saqueados^b.12 Así dice el SEÑOR:Como el pastor rescata de la boca del león^a dos patas o un pedazo de oreja,así serán rescatados los hijos de Israel que moran en Samaria,en la esquina de una cama^b y en el damasco de un sofá^c.13 Oíd y testificad contra la casa de Jacob^a—declara el Señor DIOS, el Dios de los ejércitos.14 Porque el día que yo castigue las transgresiones de Israel,castigaré también los altares de Betel^a;los cuernos del altar serán cortadosy caerán a tierra.15 Derribaré¹ también la casa de invierno^a junto con la casa de verano^b;también perecerán las casas de marfil²^c,y muchas casas serán destruidas^d—declara el SEÑOR.

All the Tribes Are Guilty

Hear this word which the LORD has spoken against you, sons of Israel, against the entire ¹^afamily which ²He brought up from the land of Egypt:

2 “^aYou only have I ¹chosen among all the families of the earth;Therefore I will ²^bpunish you for all your iniquities.”3 Do two men walk together unless they have made an ¹appointment?4 Does a ^alion roar in the forest when he has no prey?Does a young lion ¹growl from his den unless he has captured something?5 Does a bird fall into a trap on the ground when there is no ¹bait in it?Does a trap spring up from the earth when it captures nothing at all?6 If a ^atrumpet is blown in a city will not the people tremble?If a ^bcalamity occurs in a city has not the LORD done it?7 ¹Surely the Lord ²GOD does nothingUnless He ^areveals His secret counselTo His servants the prophets.8 A ^alion has roared! Who will not fear?The ^bLord ¹GOD has spoken! ^cWho can but prophesy?

9 Proclaim on the citadels in ^aAshdod and on the citadels in the land of Egypt and say, “Assemble yourselves on the ^bmountains of Samaria and see the great tumults within her and the ^coppressions in her midst. 10 But they ^ado not know how to do what is right,” declares the LORD, “these who ^bhoard up ¹violence and devastation in their citadels.”

11 Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD,“An ^aenemy, even one surrounding the land,Will pull down your ¹strength from youAnd your ^bcitadels will be looted.” 12 Thus says the LORD,“Just as the shepherd ¹^asnatches from the lion’s mouth a couple of legs or a piece of an ear,So will the sons of Israel dwelling in Samaria be ²snatched away—With the ^bcorner of a bed and the ³^ccover of a couch!

13 “Hear and ^atestify against the house of Jacob,”Declares the Lord GOD, the God of hosts.14 “For on the day that I punish Israel’s transgressions,I will also punish the altars of ^aBethel;The horns of the altar will be cut offAnd they will fall to the ground.15 “I will also smite the ¹^awinter house together with the ^bsummer house;The houses of ²^civory will also perishAnd the ^dgreat houses will come to an end,”Declares the LORD.

All the Families Are Guilty

Hear this word that the LORD has spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole ^afamily which I brought up from the land of Egypt:

2 “^aI have known chosen, cared for, and loved only you of all the families of the earth;Therefore I shall ^bpunish you for all your wickedness.”3 Do two men walk together unless they have made an appointment?4 Does a ^alion roar in the forest when he has no prey?Does a young lion growl from his den if he has not captured something?5 Does a bird fall into a trap on the ground when there is no bait in it?Does a trap spring up from the ground when it has caught nothing at all? Of course not! So it is that Israel has earned her impending judgment.6 If a ^atrumpet is blown in a city warning of danger will not the people tremble?If a ^bdisaster or misfortune occurs in a city has not the LORD caused it?7 Surely the Lord GOD does nothing¹Without ^arevealing His secret plan of the judgment to comeTo His servants the prophets. Rev 10:78 The ^alion has roared! Who will not fear?The ^bLord GOD has spoken to the prophets! ^cWho can but prophesy? Acts 4:20; 5:20, 29; 1+@Cor 9:16

9 Proclaim on the fortresses in ^aAshdod (Philistia) and on the citadels in the land of Egypt, and say, “Assemble yourselves on the ^bmountains of Samaria, and see the great confusion within her and the ^coppressions and abuse of authority in her midst. 10 For they ^ado not know how to do right,” says the LORD, “these who ^bstore up violence and devastation like treasures in their strongholds.”

11 Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD,“An ^aadversary (Assyria) , even one surrounding the land,Shall pull down your strength from youAnd your ^bfortresses will be looted.”

12 Thus says the LORD,“Just as the shepherd ^asnatches from the mouth of the lion a couple of legs or a piece of the sheep’s ear to prove to the owner that he has not stolen the animal,So will the remaining children of Israel living in Samaria be snatched awayWith the ^bcorner of a bed and part of the damask ^ccovering of a couch.13 “Hear and ^atestify against the house of Jacob,”Says the Lord GOD, the God of hosts,14 “On that day when I punish Israel’s transgressions,I shall also punish the altars of ^aBethel with their golden calves;And the horns of the altar shall be cut offAnd fall to the ground.15 “And I shall tear down the ^awinter house with the ^bsummer house;And the houses of ^civory shall also perishAnd the ^dgreat houses shall come to an end,”Says the LORD.
