Pero con respecto a la venida^1a de nuestro Señor Jesucristo y a nuestra reunión con Él^b, os rogamos, hermanos^c, 2 que no seáis sacudidos fácilmente en vuestro modo de pensar¹, ni os alarméis, ni por espíritu^a, ni por palabra^b, ni por carta^c como si fuera de nosotros, en el sentido de que el día del Señor^d ha llegado^e. 3 Que nadie os engañe en ninguna manera^a, porque no vendrá sin que primero venga la apostasía^b y sea revelado el hombre de pecado^1c, el hijo de perdición^d, 4 el cual se opone y se exalta sobre todo lo que se llama dios o es objeto de culto^a, de manera que se sienta en el templo de Dios¹, presentándose como si fuera Dios^b. 5 ¿No os acordáis de que cuando yo estaba todavía con vosotros^a os decía esto? 6 Y vosotros sabéis lo que lo detiene por ahora^a, para ser revelado a su debido tiempo. 7 Porque el misterio de la iniquidad^1a ya está en acción,solo que aquel^b que por ahora lo detiene, lo hará hasta que él mismo sea quitado de en medio. 8 Y entonces será revelado ese inicuo^1a, a quien el Señor matará con el espíritu² de su boca^b, y destruirá con el resplandor³ de su venida^4c; 9 inicuo cuya venida¹ es conforme a la actividad² de Satanás^a, con todo poder y señales^3b y prodigios mentirosos⁴, 10 y con todo engaño de iniquidad para los que se pierden^a, porque no recibieron el amor de la verdad^b para ser salvos. 11 Por esto Dios^a les enviará¹ un poder engañoso^2b, para que crean en la mentira³, 12 a fin de que sean juzgados¹ todos los que no creyeron en la verdad^a sino que se complacieron en² la iniquidad^b.

13 Pero nosotros^a siempre tenemos que dar gracias a Dios por vosotros, hermanos amados por el Señor^b, porque Dios os ha escogido desde el principio^1c para salvación^d mediante² la santificación^e por el³ Espíritu y la fe en la verdad. 14 Y fue para esto que Él os llamó^a mediante nuestro evangelio^b, para que alcancéis¹ la gloria de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. 15 Así que, hermanos, estad firmes^a y conservad las doctrinas^1b que os fueron enseñadas, ya de palabra^c, ya por carta nuestra^d.

16 Y que nuestro Señor Jesucristo^a mismo, y Dios nuestro Padre^b, que nos amó^c y nos dio consuelo eterno y buena esperanza por gracia^d, 17 consuele vuestros corazones y os afirme^a en toda obra y palabra buena.

Now we request you, ^abrethren, with regard to the ^1bcoming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our ^cgathering together to Him, 2 that you not be quickly shaken from your ¹composure or be disturbed either by a ^aspirit or a ^2bmessage or a ^cletter as if from us, to the effect that ^dthe day of the Lord ^ehas come. 3 ^aLet no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the ^1bapostasy comes first, and the ^cman of lawlessness is revealed, the ^dson of destruction, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above ^1aevery so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, ^bdisplaying himself as being God. 5 Do you not remember that ^awhile I was still with you, I was telling you these things? 6 And you know ^awhat restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed. 7 For ^athe mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only ^bhe who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. 8 Then that lawless one ^awill be revealed whom the Lord will slay ^bwith the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the ^cappearance of His ¹coming; 9 that is, the one whose ¹coming is in accord with the activity of ^aSatan, with all power and ^2bsigns and false wonders, 10 and with ¹all the deception of wickedness for ^athose who perish, because they did not receive the love of ^bthe truth so as to be saved. 11 For this reason ^aGod ¹will send upon them ²a ^bdeluding influence so that they will believe ³what is false, 12 in order that they all may be ¹judged who ^adid not believe the truth, but ^2btook pleasure in wickedness.

13 ^aBut we should always give thanks to God for you, ^bbrethren beloved by the Lord, because ^cGod has chosen you ¹from the beginning ^dfor salvation ^2ethrough sanctification ³by the Spirit and faith in the truth. 14 It was for this He ^acalled you through ^bour gospel, ¹that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 So then, brethren, ^astand firm and ^bhold to the traditions which you were taught, whether ^cby word of mouth or ^dby letter ¹from us.

16 ^aNow may our Lord Jesus Christ ^bHimself and God our Father, who has ^cloved us and given us eternal comfort and ^dgood hope by grace, 17 ^acomfort and ^bstrengthen your hearts in every good work and word.

Now in regard to the ^acoming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our ^1bgathering together to meet Him, we ask you, ^2cbrothers and sisters, Mark 13:27; 1+@Thess 2:19; 4:15-17 2 not to be quickly unsettled or alarmed either by a so-called prophetic revelation of a ^aspirit or a ^bmessage or a ^cletter alleged to be from us, to the effect that ^dthe day of the Lord ^ehas already come. 3 ^aLet no one in any way deceive or entrap you, for that day will not come unless the ^1bapostasy comes first that is, the great rebellion, the abandonment of the faith by professed Christians, and the ^cman of lawlessness is revealed, the ^dson of destruction the Antichrist, the one who is destined to be destroyed, Dan 7:25; 8:25; 1+@Tim 4:1 4 who opposes and exalts himself so proudly and so insolently above ^1aevery so-called god or object of worship, so that he actually enters and takes his seat in the temple of God, publicly ^bproclaiming that he himself is God. Ezek 28:2; Dan 11:36, 37 5 Do you not remember that ^awhen I was still with you, I was telling you these things? 6 And you know ^awhat restrains him now from being revealed; it is so that he will be revealed at his own appointed time. 7 For ^athe mystery of lawlessness rebellion against divine authority and the coming reign of lawlessness is already at work; but it is restrained only ^buntil He who now restrains it is taken out of the way. 8 Then the lawless one the Antichrist ^awill be revealed and the Lord Jesus will slay him ^bwith the breath of His mouth and bring him to an end by the ^cappearance of His coming. Is 11:4 9 The coming of the Antichrist, the lawless one is through the activity of ^aSatan, attended with great power all kinds of counterfeit miracles and deceptive ^bsigns and false wonders all of them lies, 10 and by unlimited seduction to evil and with all the deception of wickedness for ^athose who are perishing, because they did not welcome the love of ^bthe truth of the gospel so as to be saved they were spiritually blind, and rejected the truth that would have saved them. 11 Because of this ^aGod will send upon them a ^bmisleading influence, an activity of error and deception so they will believe the lie, 12 in order that all may be judged and condemned who ^adid not believe the truth about their sin, and the need for salvation through Christ, but instead ^btook pleasure in unrighteousness.

13 ^aBut we should and are morally obligated as debtors always to give thanks to God for you, ^bbelievers beloved by the Lord, because ^cGod has chosen you from the beginning ^dfor salvation ^ethrough the ¹sanctifying work of the Spirit that sets you apart for God’s purpose and by your faith in the truth of God’s word that leads you to spiritual maturity. 14 It was to this end that He ^acalled you through ^bour gospel the good news of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, so that you may obtain and share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 So then, ¹brothers and sisters, ^astand firm and ^bhold tightly to the traditions which you were taught, whether ^cby word of mouth or ^dby letter from us.

16 ^aNow may our Lord Jesus Christ ^bHimself and God our Father, who has ^cloved us and given us everlasting comfort and encouragement and the ^dgood well-founded hope of salvation by His grace, 17 ^acomfort and encourage and ^bstrengthen your hearts keeping them steadfast and on course in every good work and word.
